Mai walked to the house, her friends and assistant following suit. She knocked sharply on the door, waiting impatiently for an answer. After about thirty seconds, Mai knocked again.
"This is Investigator Taniyama, if you do not open the door now, I will have to take further action!" Mai called though the door, her voice sounded calm and controlled, but with a underline of hostility. Mai heard movement, and a man opened the door. Mai and Yuko showed their badges.
"Do the others work with you?" The man asked Mai, looking at everyone else hesitantly.
"No sir, we are from SPR" Lin answered, "we are here to collect information to help your case"
"I see" The man nodded, letting everyone in and leading them to, what looked to be a dinning room. No one else was there, but Mai could hear talking from upstairs.
"I would like you to gather everyone in the house who is a suspect" Mai requested, but it such a way, that it didn't sound like a request.
"What makes you think anyone else is here?" The man asked.
"What's your name?" Mai asked, ignoring the mans question.
"Takashi Horigoshi, but what has that got to do with you?" Takashi asked, towering over Mai and trying to look intimidating. Lin would have stepped in, but Mai beat him to it.
"Mr Horigoshi, I suggest you do as I have asked. I have a warrant, and can walk upstairs and order everyone down myself, and if you stand in my way, I will restrain you" Mai warned, her glare could rival Oliver's. Takashi didn't budge, so Mai moved to go to the stairs, only to have him stand in her way. Mai smirked, shaking her head in at his eagerness to be beaten up by a girl. Mai grabbed his arm, twisting it so he turned. She held his arm behind his back, twisting it back, hearing him hiss in pain. Mai grabbed her handcuffs, and cuffed his wrists. "Foolish" Mai muttered, handing the man over to Yuko.
"What do you think you're doing?!" The man demanded, his voice filled with pure anger and hatred.
"Try not to give my co-worker any trouble" Mai ordered, walking up the stairs. She noticed one of the room door was slightly ajar. Mai could hear voices and sobbing behind it. She opened the door, seeing as three young girls turned as one to look at her. The smallest had a bright red hand mark on her cheek. The three whimpered, hiding behind the oldest, who couldn't have been older than ten. Mai's eyes softened, before she knelt down to them.
"Daddy said we can't talk to you" The older one blurted, scooting back.
"And why did he say that?" Mai asked, her voice resembling her old self.
"He said you would hurt us" The smallest said, her hair-line covering her moist eyes.
"I wont hurt you... but what happened to your cheek?" Mai asked, not wanting to be too direct, so she wouldn't worry the child.
"She fell!" The other child insisted, placing herself in front of her sister, as to hide the hand print.
"Can I see it?" Mai asked, but the children looked horrified, before hesitantly moving out the way. Mai used her hand to move the girl's hair. The mark was a lot worse than Mai thought. It wasn't just her cheek, but the whole right side of her face, and it wasn't just a red hand print that would fade, it was turning black and blue. "Sweetie, who did this?" Mai asked, but before the girl could answer, there was a thud, followed by stomping up the stairs. Mai watched as the man from earlier stormed up the stairs.
"Get away from them!" The man roared. Mai saw Lin chase him, and one hit at the back of the head was all it took to knock the man out.
"What was that thud? Is everyone ok?" Mai asked, her voice as cold as ever.
"Yes, he just ran into me as he was trying to break Miss Hataru's grip" Lin told her, then turned his attention back Mr Horigoshi.
"He's possessed" Mai informed. "I could sense the presence of another entity, but I didn't say anything at the time. We don't want her to know were on to her" She explained.
"A girl is possessing him? Do you know anything else about her?" Lin asked, a brow raised.
"She is young, no older then 18, and she is scared, lonely, angry, confused, frustrated... she has been dead for a long time, drowning in self pity" Mai told him, her eyes gazed over and voice indifferent. Like she was in some kind of trance.
"Mai?" Lin called, after Mai was silent for a while. Mai blinked, snapping out of it. She turned back to the young girls.
"We should call everyone else in here... we need to John to purify her. I can authorise it all, and that would mean you can start you investigation now" Mai suggested through gritted teeth. Lin nodded.
"I will call them straight away, miss Taniyama" Lin agreed, turning to walk down stairs. Yuko took his place by Mai's side.
"I'm so sorry Miss Taniyama! This is all my fault" Yuko quickly apologised, bowing her head in shame, expecting to be scolded.
"Are you ok?" Mai asked, ignoring her apology. Her voice would have sounded cold to anyone who didn't know her, but to Yuko, she could tell she was concerned.
"Um, y-yes Miss Taniyama" Yuko assured. Mai nodded.
"That's the important thing. Now though, I need someone to tend to and look after the children" Mai requested, gesturing to the three crying in the corner "I will have someone accompany you soon... and try to cheer them up if you can"
"Yes Miss Taniyama...
Ayako, Monk, Masako, John and Naru were in the temporary base, aka, the living room. Ayako was in the corner on a laptop, Masako was on the seat next to her, reading through a book on the towns history. Monk was looking at the monitors with Naru, and John (Bless him) was making his third round of tea this hour alone.
"Hey Masako" Ayako whispered, gaining Masako's attention.
"Yes Ayako?" Masako asked. Ayako beckoned her closer so she could whisper in her ear.
"I think we should search for Mai on the internet, she might have been in loads of fashion shows, and shoots" Ayako suggested. Masako nodded, an amused smile playing on her lips. She watched as the older woman typed Mai Taniyama into google. Both woman were stunned at the results...
All the pictures, all the hundreds of pictures. Not only did Mai look stunning in everyone of them, but she was wearing skin bearing clothes, and was in the most seductive of poses. Ayako clicked on one of the pictures of Mai, in the arms of a man who's looks could rival Naru's. Their lips centimetres apart, her hand on his bare chest, and his arm around her waist.
The two girl's didn't notice Naru, and Monk walk behind them to see what had distracted the two from their work. Naru scowled at the close proximity. Ayako then found a headline to match the picture 'Mai Taniyama turns down one of Japans finest'. Naru relaxed slightly, not liking the way his stomach had twisted slightly. Ayako then pulled up another picture, one that dropped jaws. Mai was in a black leather pair of short shorts, and corset. She was on a bed, on her knees, holding a whip in one hand, and her other was on the chest of an even hotter man, as if she was pushing him. Naru took it upon himself to shut the laptop, after the shock died down. Both Masako and Ayako turned, shocked. Before Ayako could give a shabby attempt to cover her crime, Naru's phone rang.
Masako and Ayako sighed, being saved at the last moment. Whoever was calling, was a hero.
While Naru went outside to take the call, Ayako re-opened the laptop, finding the headline. 'Mai Taniyama, heart breaker'. Ayako then clicked the story, wondering exactly what that meant.
'Mai Taniyama, ever the heart breaking princess, turns down everyone she meets, but will she ever find love? Our researchers found out she had never been in a committed relationship, and have come to the conclusion, that the heart breaker, had her heart broken'.
Ayako's eyes narrowed, and her fist clenched, while she came up with a conclusion of her own. That this was Naru's fault.
Said Narcissist walked in a mere second later.
"We are going to the house, to start our investigation...
