The visiting Marty sighed, as he stared at his counterpart - or, at least, someone who looked to be his counterpart. For all he knew, this could even be another world where he had a twin. He was not exactly shocked that his other self fainted upon seeing him - even though, truth to be told, he was not quite prepared for it.

A long time ago, as in almost five years ago, the visiting Marty might have reacted the same way. He could still remember just how Jennifer and her older self reacted, when they first visited the year 2015. It was an event that had worried Marty.

Since then, Marty has had experience with encountering other versions of himself - whether they were via time travel or dimensional travel. He also had experience with encountering other people who looked like him, his future son being one of them. He figured that, perhaps, his other self was not as experienced with that.

Just then, he realized the obvious. He, Jennifer, and the Brown family were expecting to meet their counterparts - so he really had some time to mentally prepare himself for the possibility of being greeted by his other self. His other self, on the other hand, did not have that - as, most likely, his other self sure was not expecting to encounter any inter-dimensional visitors.

"Uh, hello," the visiting Marty stammered, as he glanced at the local Doc. "I guess you are wondering why... Well, I guess you want to know who we are - and what we're doing here." Suddenly, he caught a whiff of a delicious scent. "This smells delicious. It smells like marinara sauce and garlic. You making stuffed shells and garlic bread?"

"Yeap," the local Doc replied, in a near whisper. "After all, today is your birthday - and Clara decided that it was only fitting to make your favourite meal. So, uh, I presume you're not from the future?"

"Uh, no," the visiting Marty replied, stunned. "We're, uh, from a different reality. We planned on taking a trip to Jamaica, to get away from this rain. However, something went wrong - and our time machine... We'll afraid that it needs to be repaired."

"Great Scott!" the local Doc gasped. "Well, I suppose we have no choice but to let you stay with us. Thankfully, Clara rather made enough food to serve about twice of what we have. Well, why don't you come on in? It would be quite inhospitable for me to just leave you folks out standing in the rain."

"Thanks," the visiting Marty replied, as her gestured towards Jennifer and the Brown family to head into the house. "I must say, this is just such a lovely house. However, there's just one thing I still don't quite get. What do you mean about this being... my birthday? I thought we came here on the ninth of June, not the twentieth."

"Your birthday is on June ninth," the local Doc replied, somewhat perturbed.

"No, it's not," the visiting Marty replied, confused. "You must be thinking of Michael J Fox. Y'know, that actor who looks like me. It's his birthday, not mine. Not that I don't appreciate the stuffed shells, but..."

"Well, it is also his birthday," the local Doc replied, stunned, "We can worry about it, later. For now, it's best that we all sit down and eat - before the food gets cold." He then called out, "Jennifer! Can you please bring me the smelling salts? Your husband just fainted. Also, don't be too shocked to encounter your other self."

"Wait a minute," the visiting Marty asked, confused. "Husband? We're not gonna get married until early next month. Well, I guess that's not too major of a difference."

"Sorry to inconvenience you, sir," the visiting Doc commented, in a near whisper. "I'm certainly grateful that you are being so helpful. We had a little bit to eat at Elmo's Rib - but, mostly, we each just had a cheeseburger. The kids are certainly grateful about this. Walking out in this weather sure is no real picnic, and we were not even dressed for the chilly temperature - as we fully expected to end up in Jamaica."

"Well, I'm sure you guys would do the same for us," the local Doc replied, smiling. "For now, just follow me into the dining room."

The visiting Clara set Haven down, as a small boy about Haven's age ran into the room. The local Jennifer then walked in, carrying a package of smelling salts - and the local Clara walked in behind her.

"Golly!" the local Clara gasped, as she stared at all the visitors. "Well, I did hear you shouting to Jennifer that her other self was here - but I... This is so unbelievable!"

"As a matter of fact, it is rather believable, especially for someone with a time machine" Local Doc corrected her. "It's merely unexpected. As it is, these people say they have come from another dimension, and I have no reason not to believe their story - despite the fact that they appear to be different from the counterparts Marty and I encountered on our trip in 1988."

"Trip in 1988?" Visiting Doc echoed. "I presume that was a journey through dimensions?"

"It was indeed" Local Doc replied, then looking to the other side as Jennifer was bringing Marty back to consciousness. "Just a moment - I believe Marty is waking up."

"Sure" Visiting Doc replied.

Visiting Marty watched, as his other self groaned and tried to look beyond Jennifer and his Doc. "What happened?" he muttered.

"You saw your other self" Local Doc informed him. "We appear to have some interdimensional visitors."

Visiting Marty could see his local self blink, then stare at him. "Wow" he muttered, getting back to his feet. "I wasn't expecting that."

"Sorry for scaring you" the visitor said. "We couldn't expect who would come to the door, so..."

Local Marty held up his hand. "It's all right, I understand" he said. "It's not like I haven't been in a similar predicament before - even though that was some time ago."

"That dimensional trip you were talking about?" Visiting Jules said, looking at the other version of his father.

"That's correct, Jules - I presume you're still Jules?" Local Doc said. Visiting Jules nodded. "We tried to test out my new invention, the DFSCUPCIF - it stands for Dimensional Flux Storage Capacitor Unit as well as Purposely Creator of an Interdimensional Field. It's sort of a flux capacitor for dimension-travelling. Anyway, we hopped through two dimensions and then tried to go home. However, when we did that, we found that our home wasn't there. We had to go through another fifty dimensions to finally get to the one that helped us return home."

"Fifty!" Visiting Doc said. "That's a lot! My Marty and I made a similar trip, back in 1986, but we only visited about nine dimensions. The circumstances seem to be remarkably alike, though."

"That's interesting" Local Doc said. "We'll have to talk about that later. For now, as I said before, please join us."

Visiting Doc nodded, as he, Marty and the others went into the living room. Visiting Marty noticed the little boy he'd seen earlier staring up in amazement. "This is probably going to be a strange question for you, but who's that?" he asked his counterpart.

"That's Doc's youngest son" Local Marty said. "Martin. He named him after me." He grinned. "He was born on November 12th, 1986, if you will believe that. Right at 10:04 PM even."

"Golly!" Visiting Clara exclaimed. "That's the day and time our Haven was born!" She pointed at the girl, who was clinging to her mother's dress out of confusion. "Do you think they could be counterparts, uh, Emmetts?"

"That would be a new one" Visiting Doc said. "I can't recall ever seeing a situation like this before, but, yes, it might very well be possible." He frowned. "Doesn't that ever get confusing, your son having the same name as Marty?"

"It does" Local Doc said. "Especially now that Marty and Jennifer are living with us. But the fact that Martin is still a little boy, and that he doesn't have the nickname 'Marty', helps a lot."

"Wait a minute" Visiting Jennifer said. "We are living with you now?" She shook her head. "Never mind - we can talk about that later. If we keep asking each other questions about things we think of as strange, we'll be busy until midnight."

"Exactly, uh, Jennifer" Local Doc said. "And the food will get cold. We certainly wouldn't want that to happen." He nodded to them. "Please take a seat."

The visiting Marty sighed, as he sat across from his counterpart. As he glanced up and down the table, he noticed that most everyone was sitting across from their counterparts. The Claras were placing Haven and little Martin into high chairs, as they also were seated across from each other. The Claras then took their places, across from each other.

"Thank you, boys, for lengthening the table and setting out the extra spots," the local Clara commented to her versions of Jules and Verne. "Your father and I most certainly do appreciate your helpfulness, at such an unexpected notice."

"You're welcome, Mom," the local Jules replied, softly. "It's a good thing you cooked a lot of food." Turning to his counterpart, he added, "It's, uh, nice to meet you."

"And, finally, we can eat," commented the local Doc. "Now, I just hope we don't get any other unexpected visitors."

"Please, honey," the local Clara pleaded, softly. "Let's simply enjoy our meal, and not even think about it."

At that moment, the pan of stuffed shells reached the Martys. The visiting Marty just swallowed, as he and his counterpart started to serve themselves. The aroma simply was tantalizing. The Martys then pushed the pan down to the Jennifers, as the plate of garlic bread reached the Martys.

"Well, I still wish we made it to Jamaica," the visiting Marty commented, taking a bite of his pasta, "but I certainly do appreciate your hospitality, uh, other Doc."

"Thank you" the local Doc replied. "I'm sorry that you accidentally landed in our universe, but I hope that you'll be able to carry on with your journey soon."

"That'll depend on how long it takes to fix the time vehicle" the visiting Doc said. "If we're done soon, we might think about going to Jamaica anyway - but if it takes longer, I think all of us will want to get home."

The local Doc nodded. "I haven't got a clue what state your time machine is in, but yeah, if it takes a long time to fix, I can imagine you not wishing to go on another time trip." He looked at his counterpart. "On another matter... we really should come up with a way to distinguish ourselves."

"Maybe you could call yourself Emmett" visiting Doc said. "Not that you don't call yourself that now... but, well, to everyone. And then I could be Doc."

"I wouldn't like that" the visiting Clara said. "Calling my husband Doc... it would just be weird. And that wouldn't solve the other issues. I can imagine one Marty being called 'Martin', but that would raise difficulties with your youngest son."

"Maybe we could just attach 'local' and 'visiting' to our names" visiting Verne said. "Because really, that's what we are."

"That might be the best option, for now at least" his father said. "What do you think, uh, local me?"

"Yeah, I guess it'll work," the local Doc responded. "Whether it's 'local Doc' and 'visiting Doc', 'local Dad' and 'visiting Dad', or 'local Emmett' and 'visiting Emmett'."

"I do have to admit," the local Verne commented, softly, "it'll sure feel so weird to call both of you 'Dad'. But, on the other hand, I also can't exactly imagine calling my dad's counterpart 'Doc' or 'Emmett' - so, uh, I guess that'll have to do."

With that, the visiting Verne and both versions of Jules nodded. Haven and Martin, on the other hand, sure looked very confused. The visiting Marty could not exactly blame them. After all, they were both still so young.

"I'm glad we have that settled," the local Doc responded, quietly. "Speaking of names, I'm quite wondering what you guys would have named your third child - had he been a boy. I remember you mentioning that naming your son 'Martin' would be confusing."

"Yeah, it quite would," the visiting Doc replied. "We did consider naming our third child 'Albert', after Albert Einstein. He was the one legendary scientist that I really had the pleasure of meeting. Besides, we did sort of name Jules and Verne after Marty."

"You did?" the local Doc asked, quite incredulously. "You mean, you didn't name them 'Jules Eratosthenes' and 'Verne Newton'? I mean, it's not as if I didn't think of Marty - while I was in the past. It's that I always really wanted my children's middle names to be those of scientists. So, continuing with the trend, we then opted to use 'Socrates' for Martin's middle name. I mean, he wasn't quite a scientist - but a philosopher. Still, the name just sounds good with 'Martin' - in my opinion. So, that's that."

"Well, as much as I enjoy science," the visiting Doc replied, "I also quite missed Marty, so I wanted to name my children after him. As such, we rather ended up naming them 'Jules Clint' and 'Verne Calvin'. Y'know, after Marty's aliases used in 1855 and 1955."

"All right, well, that part is the same," the local Doc responded, nodded. "I mean, the fact that Marty was 'Calvin Klein' in 1955 and 'Clint Eastwood' in 1885. Still, I really wonder where 'Haven' comes from. What significance does that name have to you?"

"Well, initially," the visiting Doc explained, "I wanted to name her 'Emily', since I simply always was quite fond of that name. However, Clara had stumbled across a portion in a newspaper - the 'Just Born' section - and she saw the name 'Haven'. She then really decided that she wanted to use that very name for our daughter. As such, we named her 'Haven Martina'. I suppose you can guess where the name 'Martina' comes from."

"It's the feminine version of Martin, right?" the local Doc guessed. As his counterpart nodded, he added, "I sure must admit, 'haven' is simply a nice word - and I really like what it means. Even so, I never really thought of... using that word for a name."

"I used to feel the same, in all honesty," the visiting Doc replied. "So, uh, what about you? What name would you have used, had your third child been a girl?"

"Actually," the local Clara replied, "I'm currently pregnant with our fourth child. I went in for an examination, to see if our baby would end up being very healthy. From that, we found out that it's going to be a girl - of which I was rather happy to hear. We are planning to name her either 'Marie' or 'Maria' - from the female scientist, Marie Curie."

"I'm definitely in favour of that idea," the visiting Jennifer replied, perking up. "I often just feel as if females are severely under-represented in history. I mean, even in rock music - not pop - there don't seem to be enough female artists. I definitely approve."

"She was one great scientist," the local Doc replied, nodding. "If our daughter wanted to become a scientist, after she grows up, I would definitely be supportive of her."

"I'm just not sure what to make of all this," the visiting Marty replied, sighing. "It feels real strange to think of how Jules and Verne look and sound alike, and have the same first name - but, yet, their middle names are different. And, also, my counterpart has a different birthday." Turning to his counterparts, he asked, "So, uh, are you two still Martin Seamus McFly and Jennifer Jane Parker?"

"Uh, yeah, we are," the local Jennifer replied, softly. With that, the visiting Marty felt relieved. "Well, actually, I'm Jennifer Jane Parker McFly - as I am now married to your counterpart. But, yes, I was born as Jennifer Jane Parker. You're still not married?"

"No, not yet," the visiting Marty replied, softly, "but we will be, very soon. We're just less than a month away from being married. We live together, though - and we really have our own apartment. We probably won't live there permanently, though."

"We simply lived with our parents, until we got married," the local Marty explained. "I guess we're rather traditional, in that respect - although we aren't against unmarried couples living together. It just wasn't something that we chose to do."

"We decided to live with the Browns," the local Jennifer added, "so that we could help them out, financially. They aren't in the best financial condition, right now."

"Please, local Jennifer," the local Doc chided, gently. "I don't think we should burden our visitors with our problems, right now. We'll really have time to discuss this, later. As for now, I think we should just enjoy our meal and relax."

The visiting Marty sighed, as he took a bite of his garlic bread. While he quite enjoyed the meal, he really felt uncertain of what to make from his situation. He also could not help but rather wonder what financial issues his counterparts were struggling with. All things considered, though, he figured that his situation could have been much worse.
