It had been a few moons since Russetstar had received her nine lives and she still couldn't really get use to the fact that she was leader. Looking around her eyes landed on Blackfoot and she smiled. She then headed over to the tom still smiling. She would never admit but she had always liked the tom but now that she was leader she had kind of given up on the whole love thing. 'I think it would be hard to lead the clan and have to worry about having a mate,' she thought the tip of her twitching back and forth. "Hey, Blackfoot want to go for a stroll with me. I just need to get out of camp for a while," she told the white furred tom not letting her gaze drift down to his black paws.
"Sure," Blackfoot meowed getting to his paws his gaze fixed on his leader. He would never admit it to her but he had always liked her but he figured he was below her now and that he had no chance with her. "So where are we headed," he asked her giving her a polite dip of his head.
"To the Thunderclan border, I want to make sure everything is right over there," Russetstar told the white furred, black footed tom.
"Sounds good to me," Blackfoot meowed cheerfully and together the two cats walked out of camp.
Meanwhile a ginger tom was sound asleep in a twoleg house. The toms eyes suddenly opened to reveal green eyes and he stood up arching his spine in a stretch. 'I had that dream again,' he thought remembering that dream he had just had of him walking through a marshy place. He had been having that dream for the past moon and every time he woke up from it he felt so sort of longing to be back there. 'I'm probably going crazy,' he thought looking around his eyes landing on some dry pellets in a bowl.
Frowning he walked over to the bowl and prodded at the food. Usually he would eat a feel mouthfuls before slipping outside to go visit his friends but this time the thought of eating that food made him feel nauseous. He took a step away from his food and lapped up some of the water that had been put into another bowl. 'I guess I'll go outside now,' he thought walking towards the flap that was in the door. He pushed his way through the flap and ended up outside.
Once outside he looked around and noticed that everything seemed to be wet. 'It must have just rained,' he thought the tip of his tail twitching in slight irritation. He had never liked the rain but he also wasn't really one to complain about getting his paws wet but as for the rest of his body, he didn't want to be all the way wet. He bounded across his garden and jumped up onto the fence that bordered his garden from the forest. He stared out into the forest his thoughts on the dream that he had, had. The forest that lay in front of him looked nothing like the forest he had dreamed of the night before. But he was also curious about what lay in the forest ahead of him and he jumped down from his perch wincing when the bell on his collar let out a loud jangling sound.
He was about to head off into the forest when he heard his name called. Sighing he looked up to see a young black-and-white kitten perched ungracefully on the fence. Smudge was one of his closest friends they had been friends since they had been young kits but he was still slightly annoyed to see his friends. "Hey, Smudge," he meowed with a sigh.
"Hey, Rusty, where are you off too?" Smudge asked him tilting his head to the side. "You aren't planning on going into the woods are you?" he asked looking at his friend with wide eyes.
"Just for a look," Rusty meowed his gaze fixed on his friend.
"Well you wouldn't get me in there. Henry went in there once," Smudge meowed.
"That fat old tabby never went into the forest," Rusty scoffed.
"No really he caught a robin in there," Smudge meowed looking down at his friend.
"If he did it was before his trip to the vet now he complains about the birds waking him from his nap," Rusty meowed rolling his eyes.
"Well, anyway I heard that there were wild cats who ate live rabbits for breakfast and sharpened their claws on old bones," Smudge meowed blinking.
"I'm just going for a look," Rusty repeated.
"Well, don't say I didn't warn you," Smudge meowed jumping off the fence and disappearing in his own garden.
Rusty watched his friend leave and shook his head not really believing what his friend had just told him. 'He needs to stop listening to everything Henry tells him, ' he thought with a shake of his head. He walked into the forest sniffing the air and caught the scent of a mouse, he looked around and spotted the creature nose poke out from under some leaves. Narrowing his eyes he dropped into a crouch and began to quietly draw himself forward. Before he could even get close to the mouse he heard a rush of pawsteps and then something slammed into him.
He let out a yowl as something slammed into him sending him rolling. Letting out a hiss he got to his paws and his fur bushed out when he saw a large dark brown tabby with amber eyes, A pale tabby tom, and a dark gray tom with black stripes running through his fur. He faced the three toms noticing that they were all glaring at him.
"What are you doing on our territory kittypet?" The dark brown tabby sneered.
"Sorry I didn't mean to intrude," Rusty meowed crouching down. His eyes widened as the pale tabby lunged towards him biting into a scoff. Letting out a yowl he wrenched himself free and clawed the pale tabbies nose before taking off. He could hear the three cats following him but he kept running not wanting to slow down. He could pick up the sound of a loud roaring but he didn't stop running towards the sound. He stopped at a black path that had monsters racing across it. He waited until he saw a gap and raced across. He stopped running thinking he was safe but the three toms raced across and surrounded him hissing. He closed his eyes expecting to cry but instead he heard and the angry yowl of two cats and he looked up to see a ginger furred she cat and a white tom with black paws confronting the three toms.
Russetstar had been walking towards the Thunderclan border when she caught the scent of at least three Thunderclan cats. Bristling she took towards the scent Blackfoot following closely behind her. When the thunderpath that separated her territory from Thunderclans came in sight she saw three Thunderclan warriors taunting a kittypet. Her eyes widened in surprise when she saw the kittypets bright ginger fur that seemed to glow like fire when the sun hit it. Giving her head a shake sh threw herself in between the Thunderclan warriors and the kittypet. "Tigerclaw, Longtail, Darkstripe what do you think you're doing on Shadowclan territory?" she hissed glaring at the three toms.
"Sorry, Russetstar, if you let us deal with this kittypet we'll leave," Darkstripe meowed.
"Mousebrain, she's Shadowclan leader and we're on Shadowclan leader," Longtail snarled.
"Longtails right we have no choice but to led Shadowclan shred this kittypet," Tigerclaw growled glaring at Russetstar. Then without a never word he flicked his tail for his clan mates to follow him before leading them right back over to the Thunderpath.
Russetstar watched them go still bristling. Then she turned to Rusty eying him thoughtfully. "I'm sorry about those three kittypet but what are doing so far from your twolegs?" she asked.
