Disclaimer: I DONT OWN Okami, Clover Studios/Capcom does.
Ammy and Kabe looked on, but Waka's eyes closed a bit. White light shined through the cave, a white cloud formed and spun around the statue in a sparkling dance. This lasted for a few seconds, then the light disappeared. Where the statue once stood, now a white form was in its place. The colors now revitalized, the fox looked like any other Brush God. Ammy's hand was still upon its forehead. It was quiet for a few moments.
Then its ears twitched.
Ammy immediately removed her hand. The fox lifted its head to look at all of them.
Cue awkward silence.
...
...
...
"...Who are you all?" its voice was raspy and quiet, but definitely female. Everyone gaped at her.
"I think...that question is reserved for us." Kabe said slowly. "Who are you?"
"...I...don't..know." it seemed like the vixen was making an effort to speak. Her expression looked pained and confused. Her tail curled against her flank.
"Do you have a name?"
"I can't...remember."
'That's troublesome. But being in this cave isn't helping much.' Ammy observed quietly. "We should move outside. My back is starting to hurt from bending over for so long."
Now outside, everyone stood in the sunset's light. Ammy could see the vixen much better. She looked hardly any different from her state as a statue, aside from her colors being brought back, and her bushy tail was now fluffy.
Waka seemed not too shocked at this event. In fact he was very calm. But thats not suprising. Orochi could show up at this very moment, and he wouldn't bat an eye. Thats just his nature.
Kabegami however, was excited. "First things first. If you can't remember your name, then what should we call you?"
Thats true. A name would be a good start. The vixen tilted her head to the left.
"How about...Rei? Reigami?" Waka suddenly asked. Ammy turned to look at him. Adding the "-gami" made sense, since its as obvious as daylight that this vixen is a Brush God. The fox's presence was nothing but innocent, just like the other Gods. Had she been a demon in disguise Ammy would have instantly known. But Rei?
"Rei? Why Rei?"
"Just a suggestion." Waka cooly stated.
'Hes hiding something.'
"Rei sounds fine to me. What about you?" Kabe turned to the fox. She was silent, then nodded.
"Great! Now Reigami, do you have any recollection of anything before we found you in that cave?"
Reigami looked down for a moment, then back up. "No I don't. I can't remember anything." At least her voice wasn't raspy anymore. It was quite pleasent actually. "I'm sorry."
"No, no! It's alright. I honestly didn't expect you to." Kabe turned to Ammy and Waka. "What should we do now, Mother?"
"Mother?"
"Oh that's right! None of us haven't introduced ourselves. I'm Kabegami, Goddess of Balance*, and the Master of the Catwalk Celestial Brush technique. This is Waka-" She gestured to him, "And Amaterasu, Goddess of the Sun, carrier of all the Celestial Brush techniques, including my own."
"Thank you for the introduction, Kabegami." Waka chuckled softly.
Reigami tilted her head to the right. "What's a Celestial Brush technique?"
"Well...its basically an ink brush stroke that can control the elements. That is as basic as I can put it."
During Kabe's explanation, Ammy saw that the sky was getting darker, the starts becoming more visible. 'It's getting late. Almost time to turn in.' Ammy glanced at Reigami, 'Theres no point in trying to figure this out now. Its best to have her meet the others in the morning.'
"I would ask what yours is, but since your memory is blank, its obvious that you wouldn't know."
"...We should head back to the palace. It's getting late." Waka stretched and floated off of the ground a bit. "I'm sure there is a spare room that Reigami can use, Amaterasu?"
"There is. Next to Gekigami's. But he should be asleep by now, so we can sneek her in and leave the meeting until the morning-"
"Hello, everyone! What's going on?"
Kabe's voice was cut off by a new one. Flipping its large wings, a white bird desended down and landed next to Waka. His feathers were red, his tail was a swirl of red. His crest resembled a burning fire. In his beak, a kiseru made of wood with paint decorations of a fire and a spirling gust of wind released smoke.
Kabegami smiled widely and giggled. "Hi, Moegami! Meet our newest edition to the Plain, Reigami!"
End of Ch. 3
I bet you all though I was going to discontinue the story, right? xD
Nahh, I just needed to review the plot, and change some things. (Other stuff got in the way too.) I'm soooo sorry that it took me nearly 8 months to update!
I'm also sorry if the chapters are piss-poor for you. I'll be going back to rewrite them, later on. This isn't my first fanfic, but this my first one to have a legit story, so I'm not really used to detailing? I really hope its not too bad. xC
The Brush Gods debut next chapter, stay tuned!
