Chapter 4
Remus woke up feeling better then he ever had. The ever present feeling of loneliness that he could never remember being without, was gone. It was strange to not have it but instead of the loneliness, the werewolf felt peace. Peace for the very first time, and looking down to the curls of dark hair, he knew why.
"How is it that you can make me feel so complete without even trying but everyone else leaves me feeling as though I'm missing something? Such a beautiful creature...you are a mystery Sirius."
"And you have a way with words." Remus' golden-hazel eyes suddenly found the silvery-grey of Sirius'. The man was smiling up at him.
"Y-you're awake?"
"Have been since the sun rose. I trained my body long ago to wake with Ra's arrival."
"You didn't leave? You could've gotten up if you were awake." The archeologist didn't want to think about the fact that Sirius had heard what he said, let alone discuss it. The pharaoh smiled softly.
"Why would I? No man in their right mind would ever leave these arms if given a choice. Besides, I felt safe...like this was where I belonged." Sirius knew that was true. The only place he had ever felt at home and completely at peace was when he was in Ahmes' arms. Remus proved no different. This man was who he belonged to.
"I-"
"And you told me to be here in the morning." The werewolf stopped. He did indeed tell the man that. It was only then that Remus realized why he felt so calm. The wolf wasn't lashing out. Normally he felt the animal inside strain to get out, even more so when in the presence of this man. But the wolf was content and happy.
'Mine' The beast was near purring. It had gotten it's prize. Sirius had come to their bed and allowed them to abuse him in the most intimate of ways. The whole night had been a blur, yet crystal clear in Remus' mind. The look on the man's face, the feel of his body, the way his voice rose when he had been particularly rough, the begging for more. The memory of last night had started to effect the archeologist.
"I didn't hurt you too bad did I?" Sirius actually laughed at him.
"Oh you hurt me in such glorious ways my dear Remus and all of them completely too rough by normal standards." Remus had an apology on the tip of his tongue when the dark haired stranger rolled so he was on top of him.
"And I loved every moment of it. No one has ever given me a night of such brutality before and I thank you greatly for that. But I have a confession that may very well cause me great pain."
Like Remus leaving for example. Or throwing him out. Neither was preferable to staying in the plush cloud they were laying on. Remus looked very guarded all of a sudden.
"I'm not-...I'm not from around here."
"But you said you used to live in Luxor."
"I did. Once upon time I did...but the Luxor I grew up in is not this one. I-I..." He couldn't say it. He couldn't just tell Remus that he was the thousands year old pharaoh he was searching for. His love didn't know him well enough to stay if he told him so soon. Sirius felt the control on his magic start to weaken. If he kept this up then he'd lose his power again. Remus' eyes widen as he sat up, bringing his face inches from Sirius'.
"You're magical."
Remus could sense the magic inside of Sirius the moment his control started to slip. He had bedded a wizard. No wonder the man called him a 'child of the moon' when they had met. He could tell. Yet, the man had still wanted him...and really wanted the physical side of a werewolf. What was wrong with him to desire a beast like himself when he knew what he was? It was half the reason Remus had retreated into the muggle world. The magical one was too harsh with his kind.
"Yeesss?"
"But I don't understand. You know of me. Why would you come back to my place? You're not a hunter are you? No. Hunters would never sink to going to bed with my kind. Why though? Surely you have better offers." Sirius frowned at him, cupping Remus' face in his hands.
"Listen to me very closely Remus. No one is a better offer then you. Don't you ever let yourself believe for one moment that anyone else is better then you. You are exquisite and beautiful. A prize to behold...and one that I'm very thankful has allowed me to stay." The wolf had no words to respond as his lips met the stranger's. It felt so surreal to him. This couldn't be happening right? His kind never got this lucky. Not ever. Yet, Remus was willing to see where it went; even if it meant him getting hurt later. Sirius was too tempting a prize.
"So you've never really lived in the muggle world then?" The pharaoh opened his mouth to respond when Remus' cell phone started ringing. The men looked over at the pair of pants on the floor.
"It keeps making that sound."
"It's my phone. I forgot to take it out of my pocket last night. It might be Alim telling me they found my mummy." Sirius moved to allow the archeologist out of bed, though he knew it wouldn't be good news about the mummy. After all, he was laying naked in the room.
"Hey, what are you calling me so early for?" Remus turned to look at his nightstand.
"It's not that early."
"It's still early Lily, and even earlier there. Why-"
"Because I wanted to know if you met that delicious stranger again." He could already hear the excitement in voice at the prospect of a juicy story. Lily was such a girl like that sometimes.
"Oh um, yeah. I did."
"How'd it go? Did you bring him back? Tell me everything!" Remus shook his head. He already knew how this was going to go.
"And I'm a little busy at the moment."
"I told you James! You owe me a home cooked dinner and a dozen flowers!" James started laughing in the background.
"Good on him!"
"You bet on me!? Seriously you two? Why do I even bother talking to you guys about stuff?"
"Better then you talking to your brother about it."
"At least he wouldn't laugh at me!"
"No but he would bet on you. Romulus always has." Lily had a point there. His brother was known for betting on him.
"That's because he can't resist competing with James. Look, can I call you two back later at, I don't know, sometime after 8am?" Remus was heading back to the bed where Sirius was looking at him in complete confusion.
"Fine. I'll wait till after 8am to call you back." Oh he knew the tone in her voice.
"You call me in 11 minutes and I will block your number from my phone Lily. I'll call you later. Bye." Remus hung up to Lily yelling she still wanted a picture and set the phone down onto the nightstand before moving back onto the bed.
"Were you talking to someone on that thing?"
"The phone? Yeah, it's a muggle device. Sort of like a communication mirror. It allows for talking across long distances. I was talking to my friends Lily and James. They've been finding this whole situation funny." The werewolf moved to pull Sirius back into his arms, though he gave him plenty of space to move away if he wanted.
"Why?"
"I don't do this. I don't just randomly snog people in the street, nor do I just up and take them home. And I certainly don't have them stay the night with me. You're...an anomaly. All the things I don't do, I'm doing them with you. It's like I'm losing control when I'm around you but gaining it in a different way and they're finding my distress about this whole thing highly amusing." Sirius curled up in Remus' arms, laying his head on the man's scarred chest.
"Strange friends. They should be supportive instead of making fun."
"They are. Them laughing at me is their way of being supportive. All this is normal for other people our age in the muggle world. It's just not me. They think I should let loose more often." The pharaoh tensed up. Remus sleeping with others? No...no he couldn't allow that. Remus was his! The wolf noticed the change and started to rub his back, hoping to ease his tension.
"I wouldn't you know. Like I said, it's not me. Hell right now I'm trying to figure out what to do about you. Do we exchange numbers? You don't have a phone. Do we just go our separate ways?" Sirius immediately sat up.
"No! I-I don't want this to be a one time occurrence. Please don't that."
"But you don't know anything about the muggle world and I refuse to go back to the magical one. Sirius I-"
"You don't want it to be once either. I can see it in your eyes. You said that you never do these things and yet you did them with me. I was the first one to make you feel whole and at peace. Does that not mean something Remus?"
"I thought you were sleeping when I said that!"
"Does that make them any less true?" Slowly the dark haired pharaoh moved back into Remus' lap, feeling the man's arms wrap around his waist. Sirius smiled softly, moving closer to kiss him.
"I didn't think so." Remus growled and gripped Sirius' hips.
"This is so not me..." He shook his head trying to figure out what was going on with him. This stranger was making him behave so oddly!
"Perhaps it's the you you were meant to be. Maybe you weren't like this because you weren't with the right man." Remus stayed silent in thought. Sirius did have a point. It could be that he had just never been with the right guy before but at the same time, maybe it was the fact his wolf wanted the man so badly.
"Sirius-"
"Give it a chance Remus...give me a chance."
"We don't know anything about each other Sirius, with the exception that you're great in bed." The pharaoh refused to move from Remus' lap. He wouldn't let this slip away. He had to fight the man's logical mind and get him to take a leap of faith into the unknown.
"But we could learn. I'd love to learn everything about you. Teach me of this world and see where this, us, could go." The hopeful, pleading look in those silvery-grey pools finally got to Remus. He was going to do something he would have never considered before, let alone do. But something inside of him told him that this was right. Being with Sirius was right and perhaps it was just what his life was missing.
"Alright. But you have to earn your keep because I doubt you could get an apartment with no job, no money, and no identity." The werewolf found lips against his own once more.
"Absolutely! Just name it. Can we start with that thing you used earlier to talk to your friend?" Remus nodded and started to move to get his phone when he realized how messy they still were.
"Uh, how about we start with the shower instead?" Sirius tilted his head a little, kind of like a dog would, he noted.
"Shower? What's the shower?"
An: I know it's a short chapter but I figured I would update for you guys since it's been almost two months since I updated (again, sorry about that). I'll start writing the next chapter this week when I have free time so perhaps it will be done in a soon-ish fashion. Please review all, I want to know what you think. Even if it's bad.
