It was the day for the job, and Vera Dreyer was extremely nervous.

She didn't know why. She had never been this nervous for a job before, but she suspects it has something to do with working with that Sabertooth mage. While she hasn't met a lot of the Guild, the few that she has rubbed her the wrong way. In a bad way usually. She didn't know how this job would go, but she hoped it went well and that this Sabertooth mage was more mature than the few she's met.

Reading the flier over a few times she set out to where she was supposed to meet Gretta Mable. Apparently she was a well-known farmer around Fiore, had the best crops around due to the atmosphere of Orshore Town, and Vera could see why. The town had a fresh sort of feel to it. Magnolia had a similar feel, but it wasn't anything like this. Magnolia was known for its Cherry Blossom trees, and they had a festival for them every year. Usually Fairy Tail attended and put on a few shows, but with the members that usually performed gone, they haven't attended very many.

After asking around, she finally found the place where she was supposed to be. Really, how hard was it to find a humongous farm in a place like this? Apparently very. She stood in front of a gate that read "Mable's Farm", a cute little farmhouse stood behind the gate surrounding by pretty flowers and trees. She wondered if she was supposed to just walk inside when a young man who looked to be about her age stepped out of the house, raising an eyebrow when he saw her. With confidence he strutted towards her and she had to resist the urge to roll her eyes at the smirk that settled on his face. "Who are you?" He questioned, crossing his arms over his chest to look more intimidating. Though with Vera personally knowing a few Dragon Slayers, it wasn't worth much.

"Vera Dreyer. I'm looking for Gretta Mable about a Farm Infestation?" His eyes lit up with recognition and he nodded his head.

"She said she was expecting some mages today. You're the first to arrive, we're still waiting for the Dragon Slayer. Come on in, she's working on the farm right now, trying to save as many crops as she can. I'm her grandson, Hunter Mable." He introduced himself, opening the gate and letting Vera in.

"Is your sister Flor?" Vera wondered as they walked towards the Farm together. He was slowly getting into her personal space and she had to try really hard not to punch him.

He hummed, nodding his head. "She's my older sister, yeah. You've met her?" He inquired as they neared a big barn. It was a huge, wood barn with farmland on either side of it.

Vera nodded her head, narrowing her eyes when a little when he got a little bit closer to her. "I met her at the Inn in town," she nodded her head, "she seemed like a nice girl. Does she help you guys on the farm?" She inched a little bit away from the male as they made their way towards their destination.

Not understanding that she didn't want to be that close to him, Hunter tried to invade her personal space again. "Sometimes, though she has the Inn to look after most of the time. Say, are you single?" Vera's eyes bugged out when he blurted out that question and she opened her mouth to respond when a new voice interrupted their conversation.

"Can't you see you're making her uncomfortable?" A smooth voice inquired. Vera whirled around to see the Shadow Dragon Slayer standing behind them, his eyes narrowed on the boy beside her as he strutted towards them with confidence. She had never been so happy to see the Dragon Slayer in her life and she silently thanked him for getting there when he did.

Hunter spluttered, turning bright red at the inquiry. Frosch was sitting on Rogue's shoulders, looking content as he beamed at the Plant Mage. "Hello! I'm Fro!" Frosch introduced himself, holding out his paw for the Plant Mage to take.

Vera chuckled, already knowing his name but taking his outstretched paw anyways and shaking it. "Vera," she introduced with a small smile.

"Such a pretty name! Fro likes it!" Frosch cheered, turning to look at Rogue who had a passive look on his face, "don't you think Vera is a pretty name, Ro?" Rogue blushed at the nickname Frosch gave him and Vera raised an eyebrow. The great Dragon Slayer blushed. That was certainly interesting. Vera looked around him to make sure that Eucliffe wasn't with him, making Rogue chuckle.

"Sting isn't with me, if that's what you're worried about," he stated, a little amused and Vera just gave the Sabertooth Mage a tight smile. "I told him to stay home. He wanted to come, but I thought it best he didn't."

"Probably a good call…" Vera nodded with a wince. "I was ready to punch him…" Rogue chuckled at her admission, and she gave him a grin.

"I kind of figured. I knew all he wanted to do was cause trouble between the Guilds anyway, and that's the last thing we need…" He rolled his eyes at that, shaking his head and Hunter was watching the interaction with interest.

"You Guild Mages are strange," Hunter decided with a shake of his head. "Oh, yes, Grandma will be waiting for you inside the barn. Good luck with the infestation, I hope you get rid of the moles. They've been causing trouble for the farm and we've salvaged all the crops we can before we can go back to farming without incident with them. If you need anything, don't hesitate to call," that comment was towards Vera as he winked to the female mage, who rolled her eyes as he walked away.

Vera and Rogue watched the non-magical boy walk away for a few seconds in silence. "Well that was awkward…" Vera coughed, and Rogue glanced over to her in amusement.

"So you're saying you weren't smitten by him?" The Dragon Slayer teased her as they made their way towards the barn where Hunter said Gretta was.

Vera raised an eyebrow at the Shadow Dragon. He was teasing her. This felt familiar somehow. She shook her head from the memories floating in her head, rolling her eyes. "No, not in the least." She stated flatly, her heart fluttering a little when Rogue chuckled, clearly amused of her torment.

Her eyes went wide though when she saw some of the damage from the farm that the moles created. The fields were a mess, and she wondered just how much crops the Mable's were able to salvage. "How big are these moles?" The Fairy Tail mage wondered out loud, sympathy seeping through her being. This was how the Mable's were able to make a living, and without the farm they would probably go bankrupt. At least Flor has the Inn, but Vera wasn't sure how much of a living they could make from just one Inn.

Even Rogue had sympathy written on his face looking at the ruined fields. "We'll have to deal with this quickly and work together. I know that you have a beef with most of us, but we'll have to put that aside for this job." He looked determined, and more mature than the others Vera has met.

With determination of her own, Vera nodded her head. Besides, what could go wrong with a simple extermination job?

Aaaaaand scene! How was it? Did you guys enjoy it? Rogue was easier to write than I expected him to be, but he only had a few lines in this chapter. He'll have a lot more next chapter. I'm enjoying writing this, and I am getting a clearer view on what I want to happen in this fanfiction. Did I mention that this isn't planned at all? Except for like, a few scenes and a few already wrote ones… And I do have the few upcoming chapters semi-planned. xD Kind of. Not really, but I know what I want to happen.

Let me know what you think in the comments! They are the heart of every writer, after all, and keep me motivated! Though the reads I've been getting have also been getting me pumped, so thank you for taking the time out of your busy schedules to read this! Vera appreciates all the attention she's been getting!

As always, have a great day and I hope you guys enjoy what's to come!
