It Was Me!

Chapter 4

"Mark!" called Derek.

Mark tensed up it was the moment of truth but when he turned around he wasn't met by a fist.

"I need a consult," said Derek. "My patient has a large gash on her leg and she doesn't want anyone but the head of plastic to stitch it up."

"Of course they don't I'm awesome," said Mark.

"God how does Lexie put up with you?" laughed Derek.

"You don't want to know and no one body knows," answered Mark.

"Oh," said Derek.

"So you're ok with us?" asked Mark.

"Lexie came and talked to me and told me what had happened," answered Derek. "That you stayed away and she came to you and you told her no. Well until she stripped and then you tried to stay away but you couldn't."

"I tried," said Mark. "I told her it couldn't happen again."

"But then you went back," said Derek.

"Yeah," answered Mark. "I love her man. At least I think I do."

"Have you told her?" asked Derek.

"No," answered Mark. "I want to be sure. I thought I was in love with Addison but that is nothing compared to how I feel about Lexie."
"Then your defiantly in love with her," answered Derek. "You feel strongly for her. She's on your mind all the time. You're happy to be near her. She brightens up the room when she walks in?"
"Yes," answered Mark.

"Then you my friend are most defiantly in love," answered Derek.

"Whose in love?" asked Callie, as she walked in the triage room.

"Mark's in love with Lexie," replied Derek.
"Are we letting her know this fact because my intern and is probably seconds behind me," answered Callie.

"Not yet," answered Mark.

"Is there anything I can do to help?" asked a voice, seconds later.

The trio turned to see Lexie. Mark hoped to god that she hadn't heard there conversation because the ER was not where he wanted to declare his love. He wanted it to be perfect but of course there would never be perfect moment.

"Yes. Doctor Grey could you get me some gauze please?" asked Mark.

Lexie nodded and headed out to the ER supply closet.

"Dr Grey?" asked Callie.

"Do you think she heard any of that?" asked Mark.

"Who knows," answered Callie. "We all had our backs to the door."

Lexie came back in with gauze.

"Little Grey," smiled Derek. "Could you phone up to CT see if they can book are patient in?"

Lexie headed out again.

"Go up to CT with her. Page me when you get the results," said Derek. "Gives you plenty of opportunity."

Mark nodded.

"CT can take her now," said Lexie.

No one had noticed her stood in the doorway. Mark silently groaned.

"Right then Lexie can you take her up?" asked Derek. "Page me when you get the result I need to do a consult."
"Me too," answered Callie.

"I'm down," said Mark. "But I'm going that way I'll come with you."

"I think I'm ok to push a gurney up to CT," smiled Lexie.

"Humour me," he answered.

She nodded.

Of course Mark, Derek and Callie had forgotten there was interns passing in and out of the triage room and nurses, so by the time Lexie and Mark had made it up to CT. Waiting for lifts etc. Everyone knew and everyone was glancing at them.

"Mark," she whispered.

"Ah," he said, as she glanced around. "Derek and I talking about us in the triage room. Sorry."
"At least he's happy about it," she said, as they moved the patient from the gurney to CT.

"Is that ok?" asked Mark. "That everyone knows."
"Yeah. I mean there already talking about us but now they know the truth. Even if they make up other things and talk about how long we'll last or how long before you get caught in a on call room with someone else which I know you will not," answered Lexie.

"Hey you broke me I think I'd be to scared to do anything like that," answered Mark. "As for how long. I'd like to think a long long time. I mean your name is on the deeds to our place."
"It is?" asked Lexie, as they leaded against the wall of the CT viewing room.

"Yeah," answered Mark. "What did you think you were signing?"

"A lease. You brought it outright?" asked Lexie.

"Yeah if we ever move to a house or whatever we can keep it or lent it out to someone," answered Mark.

Lexie leaned into him.

"By the way," she whispered.

He titled his head to look down at him.

"I heard you before," she whispered.

"When?" he asked.

"In the triage room. I was right behind Callie," she answered.

"Arr," he said.

"I love you too," she whispered.
