Chapter 4
The day passed by smoothly, Lacy and Brie decided to ignore Seth and see if he would go away, on his own. Lacy didn't want to be in a relationship with Seth. Granted, he was the most popular guy in school and good looking, but there was something about him that Lacy didn't like. Brie couldn't find any one whom wrote the note, to Lacy. So, she decided Lacy has a secret admire and Brie was going to find the creeper. She decided that she was going to start sleeping over, at Lacy's house when her Aunt was gone.
Lacy headed to her locker to drop off her things and pick up her keys. As she opened her locker door, a white rose fell out.
"How did that get in there?" Brie asked as she picked it up.
"I don't know. We are the only ones who know my combination." Lacy said with a tremble.
"Someone could have stolen the master key from the office. Don't worry, Lacy. Some creep is just messing with you and I will find him."
As he stood in the shadows, of the school's highway, he watched Lacy carefully as she opened her locker. Her long Auburn hair pulled up into a messy bun. Her slender frame being swallowed by her school hoodie and jeans, it didn't compare to her camisole and boy shorts she wore to bed, each night. She would toss, turn and get wrapped up in her sheets, each night dreaming of her parent's car accident. He loved watching her, she had become his muse.
He was there to greet her parents' souls. He had no clue; she was there, until she let out a soft cry for help. He knew it wasn't her time, but if she didn't get help it would have been her undoing.
Since, that night, he has regularly checked in on her. There was a magnetic pull to her and he had never felt it before. Not even, with Sarah, and that is saying something. He thought Sarah was his everything and lost everything for her. Now, here was Lacy and the feelings he had never felt nor wanted to feel. He knew he should stay away from her. Nothing good was to come from this; someone was going to end up dead and one in an eternity of turmoil.
Lacy felt as if someone was watching her. She turned around to look behind her, but saw nothing.
"Brie, I thinking all of this is making me paranoid. I feel like someone is watching me, especially when I sleep."
"L, I think it is time for relaxation, time for a pedicure and some Mexican. They will help alleviate your stress. It just so happens that I can provide both for you." Brie said with a grin. She loved a good chance to beautify Lacy and have an excuse for Mexican. Lacy rolled her eyes, but agreed, hoping a distraction is what she needed.
Lacy slid into the red vinyl booth across from Brie. The pedicure was nice and of course, Brie was right she did feel a little better. The waiter sat down their chips and salsa, and took their orders. Brie left to go to the bathroom, leaving Lacy with her thoughts.
Lacy was aimlessly scanning the restaurant; she secretly loved to people watch and imagines what their lives were like. She stopped on a corner table, in the back of restaurant. There was a guy staring at her. He had jet black hair; it was the darkest color Lacy had ever seen bright blue eyes, a golden tan and a chiseled jaw line. He was gorgeous and nothing like Lacy had ever seen, even in those fancy modeling magazines, she secretly reads, but hides from Brie. There was something about him that gave Lacy chills, but at the same time she felt like she knew him. There was a pull and it scared her. She hurried and looked away, just in time to see Brie coming. Brie slid into her seat.
"Man, I am starving. I hope our food comes soon. Umm, L, you haven't touched the chips or salsa. I expected the bowl to be gone."
"Umm, I got distracted."
"By a cute guy." Brie said as she started scanning the restaurant.
"Yea, by a guy, over there at the back corner table." Lacy and Brie looked, but he was gone and the tabled was cleared.
"Are you sure it was that table?" Brie asked as she was looking around.
"I am positive, but after this week, I could be hallucinating." Lacy said with a laugh.
Brie started talking about the Annual Halloween party; to take Lacy's mind off her other issues. The Annual Halloween party was thrown by the local museum, as s fundraiser. The same party, Lacy's parents use to sponsor and help coordinate. It was one of the things that Lacy's mom looked forward to and so did Lacy. In the past couple years; Lacy had helped plan it with her mom and fellow committee members.
Lacy was excited for the Halloween party, but there was still the gaping hole in side of her. The committee had called Lacy, into a meeting, to ask or more like suggest they skip this year's party. They wanted to show respect to her parents. Lacy insisted that they still throw the party like always, but this year, it could be a memorial show casing her parents' discoveries and contributes. Lacy knew her parents would want the party to continue, it was the museum's highest raising fundraiser.
