Milo ran towards their ticket out of there. He grabbed the handle and rolled the vehicle forward a bit and inspected it. "I wonder if it still works" he pondered. The vehicle he found was an old looking motorbike with a sidecar on it, perfect for Rubi. He quickly hopped as he was running out of time and started the bike up. GRRRRMMM..tut..tut..tut…That sound was music to Milo's ears, it actually worked. He drove the bike into the warehouse to where Rubi sat and instantly got off. "Rubi, Rubi look, we can get you out of here" Milo informed her as he took his jacket off, "Here, press this against the wound" he handed her the jacket and proceeded to help Rubi into the side car. Rubi was getting weaker and weaker by the minute and less responsive too ,but Milo could tell she was fighting, fighting for her life. "Hang in there Rubes…" Milo jumped back onto the bike and set off relatively quickly, out of the warehouse and straight to the roads. He'd glance over at Rubi every now and then, making sure she was still with him, he was surprised she was still conscious, but then again Rubi was tough as nails. "M-Milo?" "I'm here Rubi" he replied "If I die-" she was cut off "Rubi listen to me, you are not going to die, I promise you, I'm going to get you to that hospital and you're going to be taken care of, you hear me?" he said sternly, he glanced at her, but he hated it every time he looked at her, seeing her face covered in cuts, bruises and blood.

After what felt like an eternity, they reached the hospital. The bright lights shone down on them as Milo drove straight to the trauma entrance. "Someone help her! Please!" Milo yelled at some nearby paramedics as he pulled up. Two medics ran over to them with a gurney, the third radioed in letting doctors know of the situation. By the time Milo and Rubi had arrived, Rubi had passed out; she was running out of time. The medics got Rubi onto the gurney and were wheeling her inside the building, Milo tailing behind. Doctors surrounded the gurney as they kept moving towards an operating theatre, doing what they needed to keep Rubi alive. They approached some double doors, where Milo was stopped. "I'm sorry sir, you can't go any further" a young nurse informed him "No, and I need to be with her!" Milo argued "I'm very sorry but you can't, you need to let the doctors handle it" she was silent for a moment "We'll kept you updated sir, we'll do everything we can to save her". Milo simply nodded and turned away to sit down in the waiting area. The nurse left, following after her colleges, leaving Milo on his own. The next few hours were torture, Milo paced back and forth, lost in his thoughts, eagerly waiting for some sort of update that Rubi was alive and doing well, but other thoughts of the nurse returning with bad news haunted him. Milo sat back down again, he looked up at a clock hanging on the cream white walls, the clock read 11:58. Milo sighed, he himself was exhausted and hungry, he couldn't remember the last time he ate or slept, but he couldn't, not yet, not until he knew Rubi was safe.

Another hour passed and Milo was struggling to stay awake, his eyes desperately wanted to close, but he refused to give in. Milo jerked his head to sound of the double doors opening and the nurse returned. He shot up from his seat, waiting for her to speak. "No need to worry sir, she's going to be fine" she said with a soft smile. Milo breathed a sigh of relief, "Thank god…When can I see her?" he asked "you can see her now, but she's not awake" she replied "follow me sir". Milo followed the nurse through the double doors as she led him to Rubi's room. She stopped outside room 204 and Milo slowly walked inside, laying his eyes on the sleeping Rubi. A small smile appeared on his face and he sat down next to her bed. He knew she'd pull through alright, she always did.

"Milo?, Milo?" Milo's eyes opened slowly, his eyes stung with tiredness; he focused his eyes to see Rubi sat up with a small smile on her face. "Rubi! You're awake!" he chirped sitting up instantly. "How are you feeling?" he asked "Sore, a bit tender I guess, but I'll deal with it" she said with a light chuckle "Rubi, why didn't you fight back? You could have killed Raymond right there" he asked in a serious tone. "He had a gun to your head, I would have lost you, I had a choice to make, it was either me or you and they wanted me dead not you". "I'm just glad you're alright" smiled Milo. "Doctors said I'll be here for about a week to recover, you don't have to stay here with me" she told him. "I'm not going anywhere, I'm staying here with you, like it or not" he chuckled "Though, I could do with something to eat, how about you?" she asked Milo "Sure, do you think they'll let me take you downstairs to the café, cause I need a coffee" Milo said rubbing his face. "Dunno, let's find out"

"Here we go" Milo said as he placed their meals on the table they sat at. "Thanks" Rubi smiled as she picked up her cutlery. "It's really weird being in a wheel chair, never been in one before" She chuckled "I have" Milo replied as he munched on his burger "When?" she asked cocking an eyebrow "Way before I met you, broke my leg when I was a kid". "Ah well I was going to say, I've know you for how long now?" "16 years" Milo stated "Really? Bloody hell it's been a while eh?" She chuckled with a somewhat nervous tone. Milo swallowed his food, he noticed her nervous laugh "Are you okay Rubi?" he asked as she drunk some of her coffee. "Uh..yeah..I'm fine..Actually I want to ask you something.." she admitted as she placed her cup down "Okay, I'm listening" Milo said as waited for her question. "Did you ever, wonder" she stopped while she thought "if that you and I..um could ever be more than just friends….." she went quiet waiting for a reply awkwardly. Milo stared in to space at the thought for brief moment "You mean like, a relationship?" he queered, Rubi simply nodded as she stared at her food. Milo was gob smacked that Rubi was actually asking him out and not the other way around. "I'd love to be more than just friends Rubi" he smiled, Rubi's face lit up despite the cuts a bruises she wore. "Really?" she asked, she couldn't believe he said yes. "yes, defiantly" he replied again, Rubi felt so much better now she'd finally let Milo know how she felt, she tried to tell him on the bike, thinking she was going to die, but now. The two finished their meals and drinks and Milo wheeled Rubi back up stairs. The next few days went by so quickly and Rubi was healing up nicely, despite now she had a massive scar on her abdomen. "Rubi listen" Milo began "Please promise me you won't go looking for Richard" Milo said sitting down in the chair by Rubi's bed "He thinks you're dead, they shouldn't bother you anymore" he carried on "Milo, I don't have a choice, once I start my work again, they're bound to find out I'm alive either way and they may kill you next time, I can't let that happen" she stated. "..And they may kill you next time, Rubi" he said quietly "I'll be prepared this time, I'll have my gear and my sword" she reasoned "I'm not talking you out of this am I?" he sighed "Not a chance, now they think I'm dead, I'll have a upper hand" she grinned "Fine! But you have to let me help you" Milo insisted "Sure thing, I got nothing wrong with that" she smiled "Come here!" Rubi grabbed Milo's collar and pulled him in for a hard kiss, Milo was pretty shocked, but it felt right and kissed back. The two separated both red in the face and smiling. "I could get used to that" he chuckled.

Another few days passed and Rubi was released from the hospital. Milo had called a cab and he carefully supported Rubi out of the hospital. She could stand but she was still a little wobbly. They made it to the cab and got inside, Milo told the driver to take them back to Milo's place at the docks. "It's going be a while before you start training again, you need to let your wound heal a bit more" Milo told her "We don't want you tearing your stitches". Later the same night Milo prepared a bed for Rubi to sleep on for a few days while she recovered. Rubi hated not being able to do what she normally does due to being injured , she couldn't seem to stay off her feet, even with Milo ushering her back to her bed every five minutes. A week passed and Rubi had fully recovered and was raring to get back to training, but first she needed to get home. With Richard believing she's dead and off her back for the mean time she could prepare herself for the war ahead of her, she'd be damned if Richard was going to get away with this.
