Tommy groans on his bed. What am I going to do? I felt Kim doubted me and if she is to recover than I need to break things off with Kat. On the other hand, Kat will be devastated and probably never speak to me again. This would be so much easier if this were to be happening to someone else besides me. . Ugh, this is too much for me right now but whom can I have help me; everyone will be on Kim's side including my brother. Kim should be my focus but I am still in a relationship or kind of in one. Oh, I do not know. Maybe sleep is what I need. Tommy focuses his mind to a clear area and falls into a fitful sleep.
Kim wakes up finally icky. Yuck, I need a shower. Where am I? Kim surveys the hospital room. Oh right I was in some sort of an accident. "Ugh," Kim groans as she tries to sit up.
"Hey Kim lay back down," Tommy orders her.
"Whoa did you just give me an order Oliver," Kim gives up and settles back on the bed.
Tommy laughs softy. "I see your sense of humor is still intact." Tommy walks over to Kim and fluffs her pillow. "Better," he asks.
She gives him a smile as her answer. "So when can I leave?"
Tommy shakes his head. "Kim you were in a rock climbing accident and I doubt…"
He is cut off when the doctor walks into the room. "Uh Ms. Hart we ran a few tests on you doing the night and besides pain you seem to be in perfect condition," the doctor looks at her amusingly. "Normally I would tell a patient that they are stuck with me for a few months but you have healed caught miraculously overnight." "Care to share your secret?"
Kim gives him a faint laugh. "I do attend church on a regular basis." Wow, my Crane spirit is remarkable; I am so glad to be a power ranger. "So what you are saying is that I can leave right?"
The doctor looks at Kim. "I would like to keep you here for a few more nights."
Kim shakes her head no. "Well, as much as I would love to be in this bed for a few days I must return to school and my job." Oh no how have the gang been without my help?
"I am sure your job can wait," the doctor smiles at Kim. "Where do you work; a department store at the mall I presume?"
Tommy speaks for Kim. "Yeah she works at Old Navy." "I can take care of her if that is what you are worried about." I need to get her out of here before she spills something by accident.
The doctor looks hesitate. "Okay just let me run a couple more tests on her then if all is well she can leave with you." The doctor leaves to find a wheelchair.
"Handsome I cannot thank you enough for helping me out but do you think your brother would mind if I move in with you two? Kim sits up the best she can.
"Oh I doubt he mind since he has his own place." Tommy tells Kim before he can stop himself.
Kim gives him a quizzical look. "How can you afford that?"
Tommy tries to think of an answer.
"Wait so it is really 2013?" Kim looks upset.
"Yeah… how did you find out?" Tommy gives Kim a confused look.
Kim stares at him. "The news and my hospital bracelet."
Before Tommy could answer, the doctor walks in and moves Kim into the wheelchair with the help of a nurse. "We should be finished in an hour or two." The doctor wheels Kim out the room.
Tommy takes a seat in Kim's hospital room. How am I going to help Kim while she is living in my home and still see Kat? Maybe Kim cannot leave and I can spend some time alone with Kat to sort my feelings out. Yet that would mean Kim is not getting better and I would not wish that on her. Tommy runs a frustrated hand through his hair and waits on Kim to return.
Kim is ecstatic that she can leave the hospital and be with Tommy. She wanted to bounce to him but was still sore and can barely walk. Once she is wheeled back into the room. She quickly tells Tommy that she can leave with him and that she has enough medications to murder an elephant. "So Tommy where do you live," Kim asks him as he starts the car.
"I live in a secret location," Tommy jokes.
Kim shakes her head and points at the the radio.
"Oh so you want to listen to bluegrass or oldies," Tommy jests as he turns on a top 40 station. "Is this up to my princess standards?"
Kim smiles at him. "I do not know any of these songs?"
Tommy turns off the radio. "How about we just talk instead; so are you hungry?"
"No offense but you cannot cook yourself out of a cardboard box."
"Hey I will let you know that I have taken cooking classes and can cook a mean steak and pasta." Tommy pulls into his driveway. "Well this is home."
Kim surveys the house surrounded by forest. "You two live all the way out here?"
"Actually I live here alone; remember it is 2013 and yes I decided that this was the house for me… and you of course." Tommy parks the car and opens up Kim's door.
