Getting Caught

"Were you really a famous swimmer in the States?" Makoto asked carefully. A flood of memories came back. Yea I was top dog up until a year ago when it all came tumbling down. I've never told anyone besides Ruby, and I'm not about to tell my whole life story to a bunch of strangers.

"Yea I was… and I'm not joining your club." I put bluntly. Then the bell rang signaling the end of lunch. I glanced toward everyone then made my way down toward the staircase.

"Wow she's even cooler than you Haru-chan." I overhead Nagisa say as I made the turn that led into the busy halls of Iwatobi High.

Before making my way home I took a detour back to the pool. "Huh the gates unlocked?" I said under my breath. "Hello? Is anyone here? You left the gate unlocked!" I shouted to which no one replied to. "Oh well I'm going in." The cement around the pool was still wet. That swim club probably just finished. The sun was about to set giving the crystal blue water a pink hue. "Should I?" I thought to myself. I looked around to see if anyone was there. A majority of the school should have gone home by now. I stripped my uniform off leaving just my bra and underwear to act as a bikini. I dove in feeling the rush of cold water engulf me. Closing my eyes I began to let myself sink to the bottom of the pool. If only I could just stay like this for eternity; it would be true bliss. As I began to open my emerald eyes underwater I saw a silhouette of a person looking down at me.

I quickly resurfaced to find Makoto staring at me. "Um…" I then looked down toward the ground and noticed his bare feet and black speedo tights with grin trim. Crap guess he hadn't left. "Getting in?" I asked.

"Yea, are you getting out?" Makoto asked with a slight smile.

"Uh well I should it's getting late and I would just get in your way."

"Race me." He said boldly just before diving in and surfacing just behind me.

"What?" I asked.

"If I win you stay and if you win you can do whatever."

"Or I could just leave right now." I said pulling myself up

"Um…" I heard him say behind me. I turned to face him now out of the pool. He was bright red as he covered his eyes. I then noticed why he was so flustered; I stood there in nothing but my bra and panties.

"EEEKKKK!" I quickly tried covering myself. "You totally saw!" I exclaimed.

"I didn't mean to you just suddenly got out!" He defended still hiding his flushed face behind his hand. One race couldn't hurt right. I then got back in the water and got into the starting position for backstroke with my feet planted on the wall and hands holding the diving block.

"Are we doing this or what?" I said.

Makoto quickly looked at me seeing that I was already ready and got into place in the lane next to me.

"Ok on my count." He started. "3…2…1…GO!"

As if it was first nature my body responded rapidly and quickly flew backward in an arch into a perfect streamline undulation. Once I surfaced my arms quickly started pulling my body forward as I tried to sync my breathing with my strokes. The flags above us came into sight signaling we were approaching the wall. I started to count my strokes 1…2…3… as I got to 4 my body flipped and for a split second me and Makoto were dead even. I started to breathe hard as I resurfaced trying to create some distance between us. It wasn't long when I saw the white and blue flags again. I sprinted even faster on the last few strokes until I glided my hand to the wall and quickly checked to see where Makoto was. He was right next to me with that smile of his. Did I lose?

"Looks like I you won." He said as he grabbed hold on the lane line and reached out his hand toward me. I studied him carefully as I shook his hand. Not letting go I said.

"I can ask or do whatever I want right?"

"Yea, so if you wanted to leave I wouldn't stop you."

I looked up at the sky. Judging by the way it looked it was about 7:30. The sun was almost done setting which meant it was going to get dark soon. Gosh why did I have to be such a big baby when it came to the dark? I noticed we were still holding hands when I tightened my grip and said. "Will you walk me home?" His eyes grew wide for a moment then returned back to normal. His gaze was warm when he said.

"Ok." A smile broke loose and by the time I realized this it was too late to take back. He then let go of my hand as he pulled himself out of the pool. "I'll go ahead and get dressed then. The girl's locker room is on the right side of the boy's lockers room." With that he left. As I saw him enter the boys locker room. I quickly got out and grabbed my cloths and started putting them on. By the time I was done Makoto emerged from the locker room and began to walk toward me. I couldn't help but blush as the moonlight glistened off the water and casted a beautiful shimmering white on the cement. This made Makoto almost seem angelic.

"Mizuki! You're soaked! You can't walk home in this. He exclaimed as he rushed over to put his Iwatobi swim jacket over me. I had no idea how cold I was until Makoto pointed it out. Dang Japan nights are a lot different from the California summer nights I'm used to. My body began to shiver for a moment then ceased when a warmth started to seep in through the jackets backside. I felt something wrap at my waist; which ended up being Makoto embracing me from behind. I wanted to break out of it, however the warmth was so inviting I decided to stay.

"Let's get going." He said whispering in my ear.
