If I have to be honest, I knew people would be interested in this chapter with Kaname meeting Sephiroth, but I had no idea it would be this popular. I hope it was worth the wait.

X-x-Kag-Xion-Uchiha-x-X: Remember Sephiroth grew up in a loving family, unlike the original who grew up in a lab and was treated as little more than an experiment. He felt kindness and understands about common emotions of affection. But his time in the lab has left him hesitant to create emotional attachment, leaving him cold and indifferent to those he doesn't care for.

Morphious - ChangeSpinner: Thank you for your opinion. I know I went a little overboard with the descriptions but that's just my style. I get what you're saying most people who read crossovers typically know a fair amount of info on both series, but I try to make it so that anyone could read and understand the characters. I trimmed off some of the unnecessary information that can be described in other chapters; hopefully it makes the chapter less droning. As for Yuki, don't get me wrong I was so annoyed with her in the anime and the magna, but I'm not about to change her character. I'm trying to combine the two worlds, so Yuki is going to remain untouched…for now. If nothing else she is an outlet for Genesis' frustration.

Disclaimers: I do not own Vampire Knight or Final Fantasy.

The Fantasy of Angels
Chapter 4

It was a beautiful day at Cross Academy, the sky was a calming shade of blue with fluffy white clouds scattered along the thermals. Unfortunately for the teachers of the Day Class the calm outside did nothing to soothe the chaos inside the Main Building. The school was buzzing with excitement, three new students were transferring to the Day Class and rumors were that all three are just as good looking as the Night Class. Sadly this did not help the teacher's ever present migraine as he tried to gain order over his class.

"Calm down, please." If nothing it got louder. "Shut up you ungrateful brats!" A stunned silence filled the air.

"Thank you. Now if everyone would kindly take their seats we can begin. As you all know we have three transfers, please help them feel welcome and girls before you ask they already got the tour." Disappointed signs emanated from the majority of the female students. "Now then," He gestured at the door with a "come in" signal. The door opened and three boys walked into the room before stopping by in front of the chalk board, writing their names, and turning to face the class in one fluid motion "please welcome Angeal Hewley," The dark haired boy nodded with a warm smile. "Genesis Rhapsodos," The red head gave off a devious smirk causing a few girls to squeal. "and Sephiroth Crescent." The silver haired boy who was faced with disbelieving stares at his hair remained indifferent to all around him. "They have joined the Disciplinary Committee as of last night"

"Now there are free seats in the second to last row, make yourselves comfortable, and everyone take out your algebra books to page one hundred and forty seven. You may ask any questions to our new students after class." The last sentence was forced through grinding teeth. He really needed to buy more aspirin once the day was over. Why did he take this job again?

The Trinity walked silently to the second to last row in the center aisle, right behind Yuki and the one person who didn't look startled by their appearances. If Angeal remembered correctly she was the only girl in this class that didn't go to the switchover yesterday.

A common everyday teenage girl who wasn't attracted to vampire nobles with no signs of knowing the school secret? Angeal turned to see his brothers in arms wearing their equivalent of his expression, a single thought echoed throughout their minds.

This girl has a future.

The school day seemed to drag on but was actually tame compared to normal. The students didn't want to risk getting detention and missing the chance to question the transfers so they kept quiet and alert. Even Yuki couldn't fall asleep with all the tension coating the room, but she couldn't focus on anything the teacher said. Getting new members for the Discipline Committee was definitely an improvement. But like everything else at Cross Academy nothing good comes without consequences.

The clock hanging over the door seemed to echo as the second hand ticked towards five P.M. Seeing the mounting energy, the teacher placed his organizer on the desk and took out a pair of well used ear plugs. As the clock ticked ever closer towards the end of the day students griped their desks to keep themselves from bolting, leaving indents on the polished surfaces.

The sound of sweet freedom echoed through the Main Building merging with the joyful screams of energy filled teenagers. Unlike her classmates, who rushed to the library to get their homework done as quickly as possible so they could get a good spot to wait for the night class, Yori was calmly putting her books in her brown school bag. For once she didn't need to wake up the sleeping perfect so the only thing she had planned was to find a nice table by the café and get some work done, maybe have a cup of jasmine tea.

"Excuse me?" Yori turned to see Angeal just a few steps behind her looking slightly embarrassed.

"Yes, can I help you?" Angeal cleared his throat before easing into a smile.

"Well from what I've seen it appears that you are Yuki's closest friend and since I'm going to be working with her for the next three years, I was wondering if you would tell me a bit about her."

"Really? You stayed behind just to ask me to tell you about Yuki? With no other ulterior motives what so ever?" Angeal didn't know what was stranger, the girl's perspective or the way she was able to say that without an ounce of emotion.

This school made Hojo's lab look normal.

"Well I guess you could say I'm also interested in you." Yori stared straight into Angeal's eyes for a full minute before placing her last book in her bad and latching it.

"If you're so interested in the two of us why don't we go to the student Café and have a proper conversation?" Angeal gave a confident smile before nodding. "I'll be right with you." Yori gave a small smile of her own as she calmly walked out the door.

"Do my ears deceive me or did I just hear our beloved brother has a date?" Angeal pinched the bridge of his eyebrows before turning to see his smirking childhood friend leaning against the wall while Sephiroth wrote in his text book.

"We all know that girl has a future with Shinra, not to mention she has invaluable information on how to work with Yuki Cross. It is not a date."

"Of course." Although his words were sincere his face echoed sarcasm Angeal had seen a hundred times when Genesis was a 2nd class being confronted by their commanding officer. "Now unless you wish to be late for this "not a date" I suggest you head out to the café."

Seeing Genesis was too wrapped up in his fun, Angeal just grit his teeth and left without a word.

"Is everything a game to you?"Genesis looked back at their seats, where Sephiroth was closing his text book, meaning he just finished today's assignment. Wasn't surprising, the SOLDIER formula increases brain activity and Sephiroth's body was practically saturated in the stuff.

"Well what do you honestly expect me to do? I can hardly go out to the training room and burn down a town or two to relieve my boredom." Sephiroth merely pulled out their file of Kaname Kuran.

"According to his file and what we witnessed yesterday, Kuran is very protective of Ms. Cross but this protective attitude has never been explained." Genesis slowly walked over to lean over Sephiroth's shoulder to get a better look at the file.

"Uch, I don' get what all the fuss is about. He's hardly that good looking. What do those idiotic girls see in that blood sucker to line up every day, cheering and screaming their lungs out?"

"Ignorance is bliss."

"Well it's sure going to make our job a hell lot more difficult."

Sephiroth stood after carefully placing the file into its original position and began walking out the door, Genesis not far behind him with his own books.

"Anything worth doing is worth doing right. It is our job as SOLDIERs to protect the human population without them learning the truth." Even though the hallways were empty Sephiroth made sure to keep his voice slightly below a whisper; a level easy for a SOLDIER to hear but nearly impossible for an unenhanced human.

"Yeah, yeah; I know our code. I don't need you pulling an Angeal on me. So how are we dividing the shifts?"

"The four of us will be participating in this and all future switchovers but only Ms. Cross and I will be patrolling at night while you and Angeal patrol the town. At 0200 hours we will return to our room and get some sleep. At 0730 hours you and Angeal will take over the morning's switchover where we will meet up with you along with the rest of the day class students and that will be our pattern for this week. Every week we shall exchange patrol locations."

"Do you honestly expect me to work on five and a half hours of sleep after constant patrolling for five hours and struggling in this mockery they call a school for half the day?" Sephiroth didn't bother with an answer. "Fine, but when I find a misbehaving vamp don't expect me to let it live."

"Then you'll be doing your job."

"Got an answer for everything today, don't you."

At the Student Café, Yori and Angeal were sitting across from one another with their books neatly tucked away with all the equations completed. Yori had ordered jasmine tea while Angeal went with the strongest coffee the school had.

"I was watching the switchover yesterday." Yori had just been about to take a sip but put the cup back on the saucer when she sensed there was more to this story. "I still can't believe Yuki has been working alone for so long. The way she handled that trampling was like she had to deal with it every day."

"In a way she does…if not most of the time. But your words stated that you were watching, meaning you could have helped her yesterday instead of just watching her meet the pavement."

"Well we wanted to see how a normal switchover is carried out so we gain some idea of what we're dealing with. So we couldn't interfere it would ruin the whole point of observing the change." Sensing the conversation was becoming far too personal for comfort, Angeal decided to ask the question that's been on his mind since the beginning of class. "I noticed that you were the only girl who didn't go to the switch over yesterday, why is that?" Yori actually seemed surprised by his question.

"Oh, well it's no secret that the night class is worshiped for the beautiful people that it's made of but that isn't a big deal for me. To me it seemed that was just an act, that their beauty was merely skin deep and something ugly lurked beneath the surface. I'm not the kind of girl who falls for something that fake. Besides I hardly see the point of screaming out a boy's name if you hold affection for him. If you truly love someone let them know."

Angeal blinked at Yori's conviction. "Whoa. When I saw you I knew you were a unique individual but this is beyond anything I could have imagined."

"Thank you. And you're not such a bad guy either. It's nice to meet someone who is interested in who a person truly is instead of focusing on looks." Taking a sip of her cooling tea to hide her smile. "I'm a little surprised how quite it's been. Your friend Genesis seems like the type to get to trouble."

Angeal felt a little embarrassed by the spot on observation. "He can be a bit overwhelming but he means well. Besides Sephiroth's with him, he'll be sure to keep the hot head in line." Yori released a small giggle witch soon evolved into full blown laughter, seeing nothing better to do Angeal laughed along with her.

At five minutes before the crossover the most unbelievable event to ever occur at Cross Academy was realized.

There were no girls crowding around the gates begging to see their crushes.

In fact all Day Class students were in their dorms. Genesis had been experimenting with some sleep materia to see how long it would take for all the girls to become too exhausted to watch their idols. Three minutes after a discrete introduction with a low level spell and the day class students were off to bed.

The trinity agreed their first encounter with the Night Class would be easier without the girls around. There would be enough tension as it is.

The bell signaled the exchange as gears clicked against one another. The armored doors opened to reveal the Night Class in all their glory. They walked forward in a single unit with Kaname in front. Most kept their indifferent masks, but those that were more lenient with their expressions allowed themselves to show their relief at the lack of noise.

Seeing the hunters, Kaname deduced that the silver haired one was the strongest but in order to get what he wanted the black haired hunter was the better way to go. Stepping out of formation, the rest of the Night Class continued to their classroom, leaving the Disciplinary Committee with their Dorm President and his inner circle.

"Hello." Wearing his most charming smile he tried to ignore the creaking of the red heads leather gloves as they curled around a sword hilt. "We didn't get a chance to be properly introduced yesterday. I am the Dorm President of the Night Class, Kaname Kuran. I understand that your organization is not the fondest of our kind but I hope we can start a peaceful partnership."

Angeal could immediately tell the pureblood was trying to manipulate him but it wouldn't hurt to play along. "It is true we hate vampires of all kinds but in the name of peace we will ignore our destructive impulses as you have." Genesis was quite impressed with Angeal's acting. It was enough to get him to release his grip on Rapier. But it wasn't close enough to quell his inner fire.

"Yes we are willing to work with you creatures of the night. But such a partnership requires mutual trust and truth. So…what is the real reason you're wasting our time, your majesty?" The title was drenched with sarcasm, leaving most of the night class seething.

Ignoring the insult Kaname released a sliver of his aura to keep the others in line. "I merely ask you three to ensure Yuki Cross's safety during your time here. That girl seems to attract all forms of trouble, especially from Level E's." Yuki blushed at the memory of being cornered by a little boy turned Level E in the ruins of the nearby town last week. If Kaname hadn't been there to save her, she would have undoubtedly been killed. Those crazed red eyes. That horrible expression of bliss and bloodlust. It was a nightmare!

Slightly narrowing his eyes at the order, Sephiroth glared at the Vampire King. "Our assignment is to protect all humans of Cross Academy and the surrounding areas, not become body guards for one little girl who refuses to accept reality. Now get to class. We have work to do." Spinning on his heel, silver hair fanned out behind him followed by a snickering red head and a raven haired teenager nursing a migraine. Yuki quickly apologized to Kaname before running after the hunters only to find all three gone like yesterday.

He didn't like these hunters. It wasn't just how they answered his question. Something wasn't right with them. They didn't smell like hunters or any vampire. Their base scent was that of powerful hunters but the overpowering scent that nearly consumed their last link to humanity was difficult to describe. It was an unknown variable and no pureblood ever allowed an unknown factor into their territory without ripping it apart piece by piece. Something he couldn't do if he wanted to keep his promise.

There was something off about the one with the silver hair's scent. There was an overpowering sense of danger that only a select few purebloods have, in fact it reminded him of an old memory, one he never wished to recall.

Kaname barely repressed a shudder at those dark times; he decided it would be best if he focused on something else. The moon was high in the night sky, its heavenly glow filtering through the windows. Searching the classroom provided nothing of immediate interest. All his plans were on schedule and the hunter's arrival could prove useful in the insurance of his dream for a peaceful era.

Hold on!

Hanabusa, Akatsuki, Ruka, Senri, and Rima were missing from their desks. This does not bode well. Spreading his awareness beyond to room he did not have to look far to find the wayward night class students. They were confronting the silver haired hunter, Hanabusa and Ruka mostly. Without saying a word he stood from his chair giving a quick glance to Takuma, who immediately went to the teacher to tell him class would be continued tomorrow.

This fight could not be allowed to escalate, if either side were injured, let alone killed, the results would be disastrous for his plans.

As they arranged it, Angeal and Genesis went to town while Sephiroth began his rounds. It was quite and dare he say even peaceful. Wandering the grounds with Masamune at his side, he stopped at the side of a lake staring up at the full moon. So far he hadn't met up with Ms. Cross which was a blessing.

Breathing in deeply, he savored the scents of the unspoiled forest. It reminded him of a different time. Having superior senses was not all it was cracked up to be. Forced to listen to gossip a town over, discovering every fake flavor in your meal, smelling every last ounce of mako in your fellow SOLDIERs. It was enough to drag him to his knees when he was younger but he has long since perfected his ability to ignore such distractions. This small untouched patch of forest and crystal clear waters were nothing like the sterile labs that reeked of blood no matter how much cleaning solution was used.

But like all good things it came to an end.

Soon that foolish girl would find him and begin her useless prattle about being respectful to the blood suckers. He wasn't looking forward to that. Maybe he should have put Angeal with the idiotic girl. But would it be a fair trade for a night of LOVELESS quotations?

Savoring his last breath, he opened his eyes to see himself surrounded by five B Class vampires.

Placing a hand on the handle, Sephiroth locked eyes with Hanabusa. "What do you want, Night Class?"

"You sure are full of yourself, Sephiroth Crescent." He could already feel frost gathering on his finger tips.

"I've worked to earn my right to be, unlike your pampered prince." He wasn't born with the power to destroy anyone he didn't like with a bat of the eye. He had to pay for this strength; he had to work for it, to constantly perfect it. And there's no way he'd ever allow some spoiled brat who happened to be born a pureblood order him around.

"You're just a human and the way you treat Lord Kaname…" Ruka stopped as she couldn't find a word to describe his disrespect.

"We doing this?" Rima wasn't interested in joining the fight. She just wanted to see how a true hunter fought.

"Takuma said to leave it alone." Senri knew it would be unwise on all their parts to go against both the Dorm President and Vice President's orders.

"He's right." Being the sensible one Akatsuki tried to reason with his angered cousins. "Hanabusa. Ruka. If Lord Kaname found out he'd rip you apart."

Akatsuki slowly approached the hunter, fully aware of the hand ready to draw deadly steel at a moment's notice. One wrong step and he would be nothing but dust. "You too Sephiroth. Put down the…" A hand wrapped around his outstretched one and before he knew it he was flipped on his back, the gleam of a drawn sword told him they were done talking.

Senri and Rima watched with disinterest. "How uncool…"

"Shut up." Akatsuki was not in the mood to deal with this.

"Interesting." Looking around Sephiroth could help but smirk at the convenient timing. "Come on, vampires. You came right when I was upset."

"That damn attitude…" Ice emerged from Hanabusa's feet creeping towards the hunter, leaving frozen trail to the lakes edge. "Didn't I already say you're too full of yourself?"

"I was trying to prevent this…" Getting to his feet Akatsuki brushed off the last bits of dirt from his sleeves as the tree he was standing next to began to erupt in flames. "There is no guarantee of how this will turn out."

Taking his stance, Sephiroth readied his sword, smirk gone and ready to see how B Class blood mingled with dust. Tension filled the air as careful eyes watched to see who would make the first mistake.

"WAIT!"

Turning they saw one Yuki Cross using an extended Artemis to pull vault into the center of their fight. "Fighting on school grounds is forbidden. Did none of you read the student handbook?" Rising from her crouch she took a shortened Artemis in a defensive position. "If you refuse to back down than you will have to go through me first." The vampires were not impressed.

The flames dissipated from the tree, leaving the leaves charred but intact. "Let's go."

"I guess." Shrugging, Hanabusa complied. He could still hear Lord Kuran's words the last time he tried to bite the girl. 'If you ever attempt this again…you will discover first hand why a mad pureblood is the most dangerous of all vampires.' Those words still gave him nightmares.

"The mood is completely ruined." Ruka didn't understand why the girl always had to ruin their fun. It was just a bit a discipline. They were doing her job for her. It's not like they were gonna kill the hunter, that would create all sorts of problems for their king. "Let's get back to class." And with that the inner circle unknowingly walked towards their punishment.

"Sephiroth, what were you doing?!" Yuki poured many emotions into her words but the strongest was confusion. Why would anyone go out of their way just to get vampires to fight them? Turning to the new perfect she saw the hunter's expression was far off and empty. Reaching out to comfort the obviously troubled young man she found the cold side of a sword at her throat.

"If you have an ounce of self preservation in your delusion filled mind you will stay out of my way." Sheathing his blade Sephiroth went to complete his rounds as the soldier he had been raised.

"Report." After the drama with most of Kaname's inner circle time passed rather quickly. A small group of Day Class students tried to sneak in but they soon rethought their plan once they discovered they each gained a surprise haircut. Sephiroth debated whether or not he should have showed himself but it was surprisingly easy to send the hormone crazed girls running back to their dorm.

At the scheduled time the Trinity returned to their shared room to exchange their first patrol.

"We encountered six Level Es and one falling D Class, all were eliminated on sight. No noticeable damage was left from the battles." Angeal handled the review alone seeing how the moment they entered the room Genesis shed his coat, book, and sword then proceeded to enter the realm of sleep as soon as his head hit the pillow.

Honestly all SOLDIERs needed was three hours of sleep unlike the human standard of eight. But like the rest of their bodies mako affected their sleep patterns as well. Sleep for SOLDIERs was more for the small psychological mending it gave them instead of recovering energy. Of course Genesis liked to use it as one of his many tricks to get out of work.

"So what about you?" Angeal carefully looked at his silver haired friend. If you didn't know Sephiroth for as long and as closely as he has you wouldn't know the difference. But there was something going on in that head of his that was both dangerous and recent.

"Three Day Class students attempted to enter the school yard. I scared them off so they won't. Five of the pureblood's servants attempted to ambush me for disrespecting their master."

Groaning Angeal took out the paperwork. "When I thought which one of you two would snap first my money was on Genesis. Okay what was their time of death?"

"They still breathe." Angeal was completely surprised by the announcement. "Ms. Cross interfered." Calming down Angeal returned the form. Glad the chaos was suspended for now. "That girl…"

"What about her?"

Looking out the window like he did so long ago on that blood filled night a similar sense of foreboding pierced his heart. "She will be the source of countless problems."
