Whoop De Doo, the story has been updated again. Sooooo yeah, enjoy
Also, Hippodog, you called me a tease for stopping just before the sex scene. I thank you for the compliment, and if you really want one, I guess I can give you one. Depends on what other people think so let me know if anyone else wants a sex scene.
As I said, the quest has been done so many times before and Percy isn't on it so I'm skipping it
Why was the story updated so quickly? My answer: 8 and a half hours of plane rides with nothing better to do.
Here's your quote: You have enemies? Good. That means you've stood up for something, sometime in your life. ~Winston S. Churchill
Also have a little Percy/Selene fluff at the start
I don't own Percy Jackson or the Dovahzul.
Let'sa go!
The early morning sunlight filtered in through the windows of the cabin in Alaska. It caused Perseus to stir and tiredly open his eyes to a sight he never got tired of. His wife laid on his chest, her raven hair spilling over him like ink as she used his chest as a pillow. Perseus let out a small chuckle which caused her to smile in her sleep and snuggle into his chest even more, pressing her breasts into him, and Perseus realized he wasn't moving until his wife awoke.
It was in those few minutes that Perseus debated the upcoming war, or wars if Kronos was stopped. He knew that he held a large grudge against the gods for slaughtering his child, but that mean their children had to die as well?
Yes, he decided in the end. They killed his child so he would allow theirs to die. He was not the pillar of morality that heroes were supposed to be, he played by his own rules, and the Olympians would have to learn that quickly.
He was snapped out of his thoughts when the beautiful titaness who rested upon his chest began to stir. Her silver eyes slowly opened and once again, Perseus marveled at their beauty. Her eyes were not like the goddess Artemis' which were silver with a cold, yellowish-while sclera, no, Selene's eyes were a beautiful liquid silver with flecks of midnight black in them and the normal while sclera. (Sclera is the white part of the eye).
Selene gave a small smile to Perseus as she sat up and rolled off Perseus. She laid next to him and whispered his ear, "Last night was amazing, I think you got better." Perseus chuckled in response.
"Practice makes perfect, and we both know we get plenty of practice." Which caused Selene to laugh and get up off the bed.
"Get up lazy boy, we both know that we both have work to do today," Selene laughed as she threw a shirt on and walked into the bathroom to take a shower. Perseus rolled his eyes and stood up to begin dressing himself.
He didn't wear anything extravagant, just a plain brown t-shirt and some jeans. Perseus knew that's all he'd need as he'd be wearing his armor a lot and that kept him plenty warm throughout the day.
Twenty minutes later, Perseus kissed Selene goodbye and dissolved into the shadows to arrive at Mount Othyrs. What he saw was about what he expected, the great dragon Ladon barked at Perseus like a puppy and several of it's hundred heads slithered over in hopes to get scratched by the god of monsters.
Perseus laughed at how one of the fiercest monsters in all of Greek Mythology was snuggling up to him like a puppy to it's owner would.
Perseus patted as many of the heads of Ladon as he could as he attempted to make his way through the sea of heads. It took him a while, but eventually the god of chaos was standing on the other side of the apple tree, and kept on his walk to the top of the mountain to see how Atlas fared with his burden of holding the sky.
Only when Perseus got to the top of the mountain, he was met with a very pleasant surprise. Instead of the titan of endurance holding up the sky, instead in his place was the 'goddess of the moon' herself Artemis.
Perseus couldn't stop himself, he started laughing, drawing Artemis' attention to him whose eyes went wide with anger and fear at the god who stood before her. Atlas, who stood off to the side a ways, watched with amusement as his cousin struggled to stand upright with how much he was laughing at the struggling moon goddess.
When the laughing finally stopped, Perseus wiped a tear from his eye and looked around to fine Atlas, and when he did, he was seemingly overjoyed.
"Atlas! My friend! To what do I owe this amazing surprise." Perseus said with a somewhat maniacal grin on his face while gesturing to Artemis. Atlas shrugged in response.
"We caught her attempting to track down a soldier of ours, and we tricked her into taking the sky, it was all too easy really," Atlas said, shrugging it off as if it was nothing.
"You fools!" the imprisoned Artemis spat. "Without anyone to pull the moon across the sky, time will be upset by this disturbance!" She shouted, to which Perseus rolled his eyes.
"I am positive my wife would be happy with dragging your sorry-ass chariot out of the sky and driving hers across it once again." Perseus said, half caring about the threat given to him by the moon goddess.
At this, Artemis faltered, there went her only plan to get out from under the sky, and even then it was a fake threat, day and night would carry on without a change even if she was not driving her chariot across the sky, mortals would only see clouds or a new moon until someone started to drive the moon across the sky again. Hell, the mist could probably still let them see a moon in the sky as well.
"I must say though," Perseus said, the crazy grin still on his face, "What a lovely surprise this has been Artemis, I'm glad to see you could take my cousin's burden for some time, even if that sorry quest of demigods is on their way right now." Perseus said, squashing Artemis' hopes that the quest would be able to surprise Atlas.
At Artemis' shocked face, Perseus scoffed and rolled his eyes. "I have the domains of conquests and darkness, did you honestly think I wouldn't notice the quest leaving that pathetic camp of theirs?" Perseus said while Artemis mentally berated herself for being so foolish.
"Yeah they'll be here in a couple of days, and frankly I could just kill them all right now, Apollo's little prophecies hold no judgement to me, nor do your little laws." Perseus said while examining his fingernails, half interested in the quest, half just trying to piss Artemis off since she couldn't retaliate.
"Or perhaps we should let them think they have the element of surprise on their side, and then have them squashed by this fortress' defenses," Atlas suggested, making Perseus nod his head in approval.
"I should have remembered you were the general of Kronos' armies Atlas, your armies were always the hardest to destroy, no hard feelings," Perseus said as he glanced towards Atlas, who shrugged.
"No ill judgement is held, you got me out of being sent to Tartarus, so I am in your debt Perseus," Atlas said,
"But instead I got you stuck under the sky, so I'd say we're about even."
"Fair enough."
There were several hours of battle plans and mindless debates between Atlas and Perseus, both of whom were enjoying themselves greatly. Atlas as he would finally get to kill that traitorous daughter of his, and Perseus because he got to kill that annoying son of Poseidon and make Artemis watch as two of her favorite hunters fell. However, Perseus did need to make sure that the newly captured Hubbard Glacier wasn't blown to bits by the rivalry of two friends of his.
"Anyways, it has been good seeing you Atlas, but I need to make sure that Iizstrun and Shuluv haven't killed each other yet," Perseus muttered somewhat to himself as he began to dissolve into darkness, waving farewell as he went and flipping the bird to Artemis as well.
"It has been a pleasure indeed Perseus," Atlas said in farewell as his cousin disappeared.
Things were not going well for Thalia Grace so far on the quest she was sent on. First, they had gotten a surprise Nemean Lion at the Smithsonian, which nearly took out Annabeth who seem certain she could take it on. The daughter of Athena had been swatted across the museum and required a good sum of their ambrosia and nectar so she could walk again.
Then came the Sparti, and their never ending quest for their blood, until they had been lost when they got onto a random train and barely escaped the undead warriors. That was also when they had discovered that Kyle had stowed away on the quest, when Zoë had accidentally knocked Annabeth's invisibility hat off of his head, which he had stolen whilst they were playing capture the flag earlier that week.
There was a lot of yelling due to the quest now having 6 members, when it was supposed to only have 5. Eventually, Zoë decided it was less effort to just let him tag along, but he was to never open his mouth unless spoken to.
Then came the desert, where they traveled across a junkyard and had to fight the 50 foot tall Talos guardian who was convinced they stole something, even though none of them had. The idiotic son of Poseidon had nearly died to due stabbing the giant in the foot then being kicked across the graveyard.
And then Thalia had to wrestle a greasy old man, who turned out to be Nereus, in San Francisco in order to find out where the Titan's hideout was and where Artemis was being held, he answered with Mount Tamalpais, and then smirked and said goodbye with "Good luck little girl, with him up there you will most definitely need it." Before he turned into a seal and slipped into the harbor.
And here they were, at the gates of Tamalpais where a thick fog had rolled in which made the scene even more eerie than it would have been before. A shudder ran through all the demigods simultaneously as they slowly entered the Titan's fortress.
What they didn't know however, was that they were being watched. Thanks to Perseus' warning the week prior, Atlas had prepared quite the ambush for the demigods when they drew near.
Artemis looked on in horror as Atlas had drawn up an iris message looking screen and observed the quest's progress while strapping on his armor, and Perseus stood next to him, clad in his midnight black dragon armor, being as silent as the night itself.
The quest would face little to no issue from Ladon, who Perseus had spoken with earlier about the plan, and was less than willing to go along, but his loyalty to the god of monsters eventually won him over.
The conversation had gone something like this.
Ladon, I need you to let 6 demigods pass when they come through
But milord, what if they try to take an apple
Don't fret Ladon, they won't
But if they do?
Then you are free to tear them into as many pieces as you see fit.
So with the reluctant dragon letting them pass, the trap at the mountain's peak awaited them. The ambush was nothing special really, just a couple dracanae awaited them at the peak, along with Atlas and Perseus hidden in the shadows. Also Suldaan and Iizstrun were informed that they could join if they wanted to, the old ice dragon respectfully declined, while Suldaan said he would think about it. So there were snake women, a possible dragon and two ill-tempered immortals awaiting the quest at the top of the peak. And that annoying Lucas kid wanted in too, and while Atlas let him join, Perseus still wanted to gut the annoying brat.
Perseus' honestly didn't understand his reasons for wanting to bring down the gods of Olympus.
Perseus had his family destroyed by the gods who hardly cared one bit about it, while the son of Hermes didn't get enough attention from his daddy so he threw a hissy fit and decided to tear down Olympus.
It was power-hungry idiots like Luke Castellan that made Perseus enjoy his solitude in Alaska with his small family.
But with the two immortals present, the demigods would be swept aside as if they were nothing. Which is what horrified Artemis. She knew all too well that if her pride hadn't gotten the best of her, and she hadn't damned Perseus' wife, that Perseus would be standing against Atlas right now, in attempts to free her.
Alas, that was not the case. Instead, Perseus stood ready to remove the heads of all 6 demigods that would attempt to free the moon goddess. That left her one option, the option that the prideful moon goddess despised the most. She had to beg.
"Perseus," she begged him, "You're better than this, you are better than to turn against your family." Those words made Perseus freeze on the spot.
It was clear that Perseus was having an internal debate "No," he growled. "I'm not good enough to not turn my back on those who sat back and watched as you damned my wife and unborn child to the deepest pits of hell. I'm not good enough to forgive those who when I returned, banished me without a second thought when I had returned to ask why. I am not the pillar of morality you thought of me to be Artemis, and I will have my vengeance."
With that little rant of his released, Artemis was launched into memory.
It had been many years since Perseus had taken out more than a third of the council and gone to search for his wife in the deepest pits of hell. The entire Olympian council feared his return. Artemis, Apollo, Dionysus, Athena and Poseidon had all been revived and were once again among the rest of Olympus, but would not dare cross Perseus again.
The entire world changed that day when the throne room doors were blown off of their hinges.
The left door was sent flying and nearly took out a dozing Dionysus, and the right door skidded to a stop right at Zeus' feet, and the entire council had their eyes immediately drawn to the doorway, where an enraged Perseus stood, black lightning crackling off of his body, as he walked in painfully slowly.
One could cut the fear in the room with a butter knife if they had so wished to do so. However the Olympian Council remained silent as Perseus walked to the middle of the throne room, not even caring about his lack of throne, and stood there, glaring at the fool who had taken his title as King.
It was several minutes of Perseus glaring with all of his hatred at the Olympian Council before Zeus finally spoke.
"There is to be a vote, of whether the monster in front of us is to remain among the Olympians, or is to be banished to the depths of Tartarus to join Father." Zeus said, arrogance filling his voice.
The vote surprised few of the Olympians present, mainly Dionysus who had just woken up and was wondering what in the blazes what was going on.
"All in favor?" Zeus asked calmly, while his brother had yet to speak a word.
One by one, all hands of the council present rose, some more reluctant than others. Like Ares, who had clearly been threatened to vote in favor of Zeus, forcing to be turned against his long time mentor. Perseus addressed him with a nod, signaling he knew what Zeus had done, and relief flooded Ares face. Aphrodite, who was less than pleased, clearly tried to speak up, but vines quickly covered her mouth and raised her hand, despite her struggling and a smirking Dionysus
There were two empty thrones, however.
Hades and Hestia were not present. Perseus merely raised an eyebrow at this fact, and spoke in an eerily calm voice for the rage he was emitting.
"Where are Hades and Hestia?"
It was Hera who responded. "They are not present as they have a biased view on this matter." She spoke proudly, causing a dark and sinister laugh to arise from the god of chaos.
"Biased! This entire fucking council is biased! I thought that you, the Queen of fucking Olympus, could understand something that your worshipers learn when they are about twelve years of age. Mortals - 1, Hera - 0." Perseus laughed as embarrassment and rage flooded her face.
"At least I have living children!" Hera screamed in retaliation, as all laughter ceased from Perseus, and drew the confused looks of the council.
All was silent as Hera was suddenly horrified at what she had said, and a cold, dark, menacing chuckle arose from Perseus.
"Yes sister dear, you do have living children, but it would appear that the rest of the council doesn't know what you and that moon whore over there did to my child." Perseus spoke softly, but the anger was clear.
"Name one thing I had ever done to you, one, that led to you bitches causing the stillborn of my only child, in the deepest pits of hell on this wretched rock of a planet." The god of monsters snarled at Hera, who looked as if she wished she could flash out immediately, in fear that Perseus may remove several of her vital organs.
Yet he restrained himself, well, sorta.
He looked around the throne room, pondering the vote that had been made.
"And I merely came her to know why you have done what you did, and my explanation is you damning me to the depths of hell. Well I know how the rules work down there, that place if my playground now, so damn me there if you will, but I will return to seek my vengeance as I have promised. A new empire is on the rise, and they will tear down the Greeks. I will whisper in the ears of their commanders, making this empire stronger than you can imagine, and they will tear down your monuments, burn your cities and kill your people all because of a few mistakes on your part." Perseus promised.
The gods of Olympus were scared out of their wits, but not convinced.
"Who is powerful enough to destroy an entire empire?" Hephaestus asked, not really expecting an answer.
A maniacal grin made its way onto Perseus' face. "The survivors of Troy," was all he said before he flicked his hand, causing the throne room to shake and a hole to appear, which all of those present could tell led to Tartarus.
The haunting insane laughter of Perseus could be heard his entire way down as the god leapt into the pit.
Artemis snapped out of the memory, only to see the unamused face of Perseus. "Yes, it would appear you remember what you did to me. Hopefully you remember what I promised you, you get to be the first to watch it unfold today." Perseus said before turning his back on the goddess of the hunt, and prepared to enact his vengeance.
Thalia knew something was wrong the second the dragon let them pass.
While Zoë had explained her connection with the Garden of the Hesperides, Thalia thought that it was just too convenient that after four thousand years the dragon still remembered Zoë and let them pass with only little reluctance. That and the fact that Nereus' warning still rang clear in her mind "Good luck little girl, with him up there you will most definitely need it".
Thalia didn't know who 'him' was but she very much hoped it wasn't who she thought it may be.
She was snapped out of her thoughts by Annabeth calling out that she could see the peak, and the entire quest rushing forwards to rescue the goddess of the hunt. However when they arrived at the peak their objective quickly changed from saving the moon goddess.
They were immediately met by the planned dracanae, who were cut down with surprisingly little effort, bringing a small frown to the hidden Perseus' face and nothing to change on Atlas' facial features.
After the dracanae had been dispatched, and Perseus made sure their reforming would be as painless as possible with a quick mental apology, Artemis spoke to the demigods.
"You must leave," she croaked from under the sky, "This is a trap." the moon goddess warned, but it was to no avail as Atlas then showed himself to the demigods, Luke at his side.
"Well, what do we have here? A traitorous daughter, a hunter, a wisdom brat, a daughter of death, the princess herself and the scum of the sea." Atlas mocked as he flashed his armor on and twirled his javelin lazily in his hand.
"How long do you think it'll take to dispatch them Luke?" Atlas lazily asked the now visible son of Hermes beside him. Generating gasps from both Annabeth and Thalia, a glare from Zoë and Phoebe, a battle ready glance from Bianca (Bet you forgot she existed) and a glare of hatred from Kyle.
"Father," Zoë snarled at Atlas.
"I am not your father little huntress, my daughter died the day that son of Zeus marched his way into my garden and attempted to kill my dragon." Atlas snarled.
"I was decie-" Zoë started before she was cut off.
"As much as I would love to watch this little argument go on all day, can we get to the killing already?" Perseus said with a bored expression on his face as he appeared through condensation of the shadows and lazily twirled his sword, clad in his armor, minus the helm.
"You," Kyle and Annabeth snarled, while the other 4 just went pale in the face.
Perseus rolled his eyes as he sheathed his weapon, "Me."
"I knew you were helping the Titans out of greed," Annabeth spat at the god of chaos' her pride getting the best of her, causing the god to roll his eyes.
"Out of greed, haven't heard that one before, yeah, sure, we can go with that, or little Zoë over there could explain why I'm helping my cousins, I'm sure she remembers the day Olympus burnt." Perseus said, rolling his eyes at the idiotic demigods in front of him, but gesturing for the huntress to explain his backstory, to which she sadly shook her head.
"I am sorry Lord Perseus, but I do not know the story very well, and I wish to offer my condolences, no matter how late they may be." The huntress said, hoping to make at least one thing right before her death. The eldest huntress had been alive when Perseus was dethroned, she had still been immortal at that point, and she remembered the shockwaves when Olympus burnt from the rage of the chaos.
Perseus only nodded his head. "Well I thank you, but regardless I still cannot allow most of you here to leave alive, but I may regret killing you Zoë."
"Ah, Perseus, there is a way that they could live," Luke spoke up, a dark mischief alight in his eyes.
Perseus rolled his eyes, still fed up with the disrespect. "Or you could join the Titans." Perseus said, although he seemed much more enthusiastic with the killing part.
It was clear that everyone on the quest considered the offer.
"I'll join." Kyle piped up, as he quickly walked over to the god of chaos and stood next to him while Perseus sent Atlas a look that said Can I just kill him anyways?
To which he got a response of why not.
"You coward!" Thalia shouted at the traitorous son of Poseidon, who looked insulted by the remark.
"Yeah well cowards survive!" He shouted back.
"Not in my book," Perseus said as in one swift motion, he drew his sword from his hip and ran it straight through the son of Poseidon.
The response was instantaneous. Annabeth screamed in horror, Thalia looked like she may puke, Bianca did throw up, while the two hunters stood emotionless. They had seen blood spilt before, this was nothing new.
Kyle stood in horror, his hands immediately rushing up to his chest where the crimson blood spilt through his fingers. "You… lied." He croaked, blood pooling in his mouth.
Perseus shrugged as he removed his sword, "Technically I didn't, Luke said you could live if you joined the Titans, not that you would. But hey, on the bright side you get to die a traitor instead of a hero now." Perseus said mockingly as he stabbed his sword in the ground and stepped closer to Kyle.
"What was that line from the Prophecy? And one shall perish by a parent's hand?" Perseus asked. "Let's see how long you last without the water benefitting you," Perseus said as he summoned a blackish blob in his hand and stuffed it right into Kyle's chest, causing the son of Poseidon to gag and choke while Perseus watched in amusement. When the blob fully entered Kyle, Perseus picked up the traitor and threw him over the cliff, tumbling down into the sea below.
"What did you do to him!?" Annabeth shouted at Perseus, who looked unimpressed at the girl.
"Comes with the domain of death and destruction, that substance is called the Shadow of Death. Makes any demigod ability useless for a couple days when in contact, so your friend there is either going to bleed out in the ocean or drown, his pick really." Perseus said as he nonchalantly cleaned the Son of Poseidon's blood from his hands and sword. After he was done, he looked up at the now five member quest and spoke again.
"Well? Are we going to stand around here all day or are we going to fight?" Perseus asked as Annabeth screamed and charged him, Bianca reluctantly following her, with Thalia charging Luke, while Phoebe and Zoë attacked Atlas.
Perseus smirked at the approaching demigoddesses, "And now the real fun begins." He muttered as he raced towards his attackers.
The winner was clear from the beginning, in two strokes Perseus had disarmed Bianca and Annabeth, and had knocked out the daughter of Hades with a roundhouse kick that was on par with Chuck Norris.
Perseus quickly kicked the daughter of Athena in the stomach, sending her to her knees and calmly placed his sword on her shoulder, ready to remover her head, when he heard a scream, and basic instinct took over and the god of monsters looked over to where the scream had originated from.
There stood Thalia grace, with Luke Castellan's sword ran straight through her stomach, and was smirking coldly as the daughter of Zeus' blood ran into his hands.
The sword was quickly removed from Annabeth's shoulder and impaled in the son of Hermes' shoulder, making him scream in pain as Perseus' eyes went completely black with rage.
One of the terms for peace had just been broken.
So yeah, that's chapter 4. It's a bit longer than usual, so… cool, you get an extra 600 words or so.
Quick little note, Percy may seem to have conflicting personalities in this story, and I've been contacted about that, I just want to clear it up that Percy in this story is very loyal and loving to his loved ones, yet bitter, cold, bitterly-sarcastic and sadistic towards those he hates.
Let me know what you thought about this chapter, and thanks for reading.
Peace out my faithful ProcrastiNation,
