Three

Jessica was sat in the garden with Charlotte. The pair were trying to do their maths homework on algebraic fractions. Jessica was good at maths and was finding it a breeze but Charlotte was struggling a bit more. "Jessie, I don't get it," Charlotte said quietly. Jessica looked up at her.

"let's have a look then Charlie," Jessica said as she stood up and walked around to sit down next to her. She pulled Charlotte's book closer to her. "yeah this is where your problem is," Jessica said pointing to the fraction she'd left and hadn't factorised. "If you split the big one like this," Jessica said as she demonstrated. "then you can see these two cancel each other out and so you are left with this one." Charlotte smiled at her.

"Oh yeah, thank Jessie," she said. Jessica smiled.

"You're welcome." Jessica sat back down in her seat and tried to finish the rest of her work.

Meanwhile Tyler, Johnny, Rick and Harry were playing football. Johnny kicked the football into the bushes near the girls. Everyone groaned and Rick headed into the bushes to find it. As he picked the football up he heard giggling come from where the girls were doing homework. He looked in their direction but couldn't see anything so he crept closer to see what was going on. The sight he found in front of him was astonishing. Both girls were laughing and Charlotte was talking full on but stuttered. Rick couldn't hear what they were saying but smiled. Jessica had said she would get Charlotte to trust her and she obviously had. Now everyone else just had to convince Charlotte they were trustworthy. Rick looked at the two girls and was stunned by the way the sunlight fell on one of the girls hair. Rick noticed the way she sat and talked with ease. He felt his heart rate increase as if he was still playing football. Tyler appeared beside him and looked at Rick before turning to see what was so interesting. Tyler rolled his eyes, tugged the ball out of Rick's hand and dragged him back to the football.

"She won't go for you," Tyler told him. Rick frowned.

"How do you know?" he asked grumpily. Tyler kicked the football as he shook his head in despair. Jessica and Charlotte came out of the clearing together clutching their maths books. Johnny looked at them and smiled. He liked Charlotte and Jessica.

"Hey can we join in?" Jessica asked looking at Charlotte to make sure she was fine with it. Charlotte nodded.

"Of course," Harry said running over and making Jeff 'eat' their maths books. The girls smiled and put their books on the grass out of the way. Jessica joined Harry and Rick's team while Charlotte joined Tyler and Johnny. Rick laughed. Charlotte was really good at football yet Tyler and Johnny were not so good. Tyler tackled Jessica for the ball who fell over as he got it and went to pass to Charlotte. As he kicked the ball flew up off from the ground and travelled directly towards Charlotte's stomach. Jessica's eyes widened and she ran towards the ball to stop it hitting her. She took two steps forward before the ball made impact with Charlotte's stomach. Charlotte doubled over in pain and Jessica gasped. She ran over to Charlotte.

"Are you alright?" Jessica asked making Charlotte stand up straight. Charlotte shook her head. "Sit down, I'll go get someone," Jessica told her. Charlotte sat on the bench as Jessica ran inside.

"I'm sorry," Tyler told her not quite realising just how much damage he had done. Charlotte waved her hand brushing away his apology. Mike came running out with Jessica in tow.

"An ambulance is on its way Charlie," Mike told her. Charlotte nodded and Tyler looked scared. He hadn't cause that much damage had he. Jessica sat down on the bench next to her.

"It will be fine," she assured Charlotte, hoping she'd get the double meaning after their conversation earlier.

Earlier

"Thanks Jessie," Charlotte said as they finished their homework. Jessica smiled at her.

"You're welcome and I'm glad you are talking to me. I heard from Elektra that you say about one sentence and that's it," Jessica told her. Charlotte nodded.

"usually. I'm scared to talk to anyone after why I'm in care," Charlotte replied. Jessica smiled sadly.

"You know it can help if you talk about things," Jessica answered slowly. "You see I noticed a change in you during our maths classes. Why?" Charlotte refused to tell her."Look, I'll tell you mine first. When I was eleven my twin sister managed to get herself pregnant with her seventeen year old boyfriend. He found out and got annoyed she was keeping it so... he ran her over in cold blood when she was crossing the road. She died and her son died too. Mum got depressed staying here so a week ago mum and dad packed their bags and ran off to Kenya while I was at school. They left me behind because we were identical and I reminded them of her. Come on Charlie, nothing's going to faze me. I have known a murder, had a teenage pregnancy sister, depression and abandonment. It can't be that bad."

"oh it can," Charlotte responded. "I have an older brother who is at uni. I think he would have stopped what happened had he known about it." She took a deep breath in. "My mum died of cancer when I was twelve. So I lived with my dad and my brother lived at uni. Dad missed mum and I was the spitting image of her. At nights he'd come into my room and... well you can probably imagine. It happened for two years until I finally had the courage to tell someone. I felt wrong and dirty and I vowed to never speak to anyone again or tell them my story as it just causes people to feel sorry for me and just upsets them. And me." Jessica stood up and wrapped an arm around her shoulder. "oh and I'm three months pregnant." Jessica looked distressed.

"Maybe it can be. Now I see why I didn't want to tell anyone," Jessica said. Charlotte nodded.

"but you know what. I'm glad I have told you. Mike, Melanie and Gina all know but someone my own age knowing means that if I feel ill at school you'd understand. It also helped just talking about it," Charlotte told her sincerely. "you're a great friend Jessie."

"I'm your friend?" Jessica asked. Charlotte giggled.

"of course you are silly. What else would you be? An enemy that I have poured my heart into?" the pair laughed.

Jessica led Charlotte inside to wait for the ambulance. It turned up and Gina took Charlotte to the hospital while Jessica stayed at Elm tree and tried to stop all the awkward questions she was being asked.

A/N: so which girl did Rick fall for and who should the other one fall for? Let me know in your reviews and what you think will happen. Thanks for the reviews. Rebekah xx
