The Price of Sins ~
Hi! Sorry for the long wait! I only got like two reviews for chapter 3 and I waited like two weeks during which I wrote chapters 5 and most of six. Chapter 4 ~ The Mystery Deepens Further
"So your name is Link?" I asked. The boy nodded. It seemed a rather simple name. "Anyway, about you helping me, I need you crawl through this small hole and get the Silver Gaulents." He raised an eyebrow, evidently this explanation wasn't enough for him. "Look! These gaulents allow the wearer to move heavy objects that no normal person can. With them I can go deeper into the temple and ruin that vile 'king's' plans. Don't you worry though. I'll reward you for your help." This seemed to satisfy him. He walked to the hole in the wall, got down on his hands and knees and crawled through to the room beyond, leaving me all alone.

Recap:
"Why did you save me?" Nabooru asked.
Link bowed his head, "So you remember?"
"Yes." she replied, "I killed your mother."
Nabooru bit her lip, she did not know how he would take it. Would he cry? Would he run? Would he avenge her death? But he completely surprised her…
"I saved you because I knew that when we first met, it wasn't the real you. When I saw you on the shore, I could tell that you had changed and… I felt as if I had to save you. I just had this strange feeling… like there was something that we would need to do… together."
Nabooru just stared at him, there were so many questions whizzing around inside her head. Finally, she found one to ask him, "How could you forgive me so easily?!"
"I don't think that there is anything to forgive." replied Link.
For some reason, this got Nabooru really angry, "What are you talking about! It's all my fault! I couldn't fight off that stupid spell! I can remember your face when she died! YOU LOOKED AS IF YOU WOULD KILL ME!" she yelled.
Link yelled back, "AND DO YOU WANT ME TO KILL YOU NOW?! AFTER I HAVE SAVED YOUR LIFE?!"
Nabooru scowled, she did not know how to argue with that. "So what do you plan to do then?" she asked.
"I'm going to stay by your side and make sure you don't go beating yourself up over her death!" he said.
"And how do you plan on doing that? You have your deliveries don't you? And I think I've been beaten up enough as it is!" she snapped.
"Well if that's how you feel, then I may as well leave!" He stormed to the door and picked up… a sword and shield!
"Wait!" said Nabooru. Link turned to look at her, slightly confused. "You know how to use a sword and shield?" Link nodded. "Could I watch you practise?"

Zelda was once again in the bedroom she loathed so much. She was still trying to get over Impa's execution. Her words still echoed inside her head, You may not be able to do anything about the past, but you can change the future.
But how? she wondered. I'm still Ganondorf's prisoner and sooner or later he will find a way to force the secrets out of me!
She remembered the Gerudo guard who took Impa away. All those people are willingly working for him! Don't they know what a monster he is?! I bet even the Sage of Spirit is his minion! Then a thought struck her so hard that she nearly fell off the bed she was sitting on. The Spirit Medallion, of course! She must have sabotaged it so that Link wouldn't be powerful enough to defeat Ganondorf! She could feel her rage boiling up inside of her. Why would she do that! If he was sealed in the sacred realm as planned, then I could have made a better life for her people!
Little did Zelda know that two pairs of eyes were watching her.

Link put his sword back in its sheath. "Nice work! You're a natural!" complimented Nabooru.
Link wasn't convinced, "I only know the basics though."
Nabooru sighed, "Don't you know that the basics are the most important part of sword training? Anything more complicated always requires your primary defence and offence skills."
"How?" asked Link.
"Do a spin attack for me." ordered Nabooru.
"What!"
"Do it!" she snapped. Link obeyed by holding his sword out as far as he could reach and span around in a full circle. "Good," said Nabooru, "Now focus your energy into the sword and try again."
Link positioned himself and focused on unleashing power from his sword. When he did the spin attack again he noticed his sword release a beam of light that extended about a metre from the tip of the sword. It cut clean through the tall grass that was growing nearby. This was a big surprise for Link, "Di… did I just do that?!"
"Yes." answered Nabooru, "I don't think I've seen anyone do that well on their first attempt."
"You mean, you know all these moves?" asked Link.
She nodded, "No matter where you learn, the basics will never change. It's how you use them that make each person's battle technique different."
"Wow," said Link, "You know a lot about sword training. Do you think that maybe… when you get better…"
Nabooru rolled her eyes, "You want me to teach you what I know don't you."
Link blushed and ruffled his hair (A/N Teehee, Skyward Sword!), "Uh… yes please!"
Nabooru smiled, "Alright, I'd say you're good enough to learn the advanced things already, but I will warn you, most of what I will teach will take years to master and it won't be the same as what other Hylians like you practice. I can only teach you the techniques of the Gerudo tribe. Is that what you want?"
Link nodded, "It would be an honour to be taught by you." This made Nabooru blush. Link blushed too. (And ruffled his hair!)
"Al… alright." said Nabooru nervously. "I'll train you."

Zelda heard cackling coming from the other side of her locked bedroom door. There was a click as it swung open and two ugly witches came into the room. They looked exactly the same, except for the colour of their shoes and the gemstones they had on their foreheads. One of them had an icy blue one and the other had flaming orange for theirs. (Same applies for the shoes) When Zelda saw them she felt a shiver down her spine, No, not Twinrova! (A/N Yes! I know they are supposed to be dead but come on! They're pretty awesome! And to avoid confusion for non-Zelda fan readers, these witches have their very own collective noun, 'Twinrova'.)
One of them spoke, "Hello little princess! We've got a message from the Great Ganondorf for you!" she turned to the other witch, "Isn't that right Koume?"
"Right Kotake!" said Koume, "He says that this is your final chance to tell him why the Triforce split into three again and where 'he' is."
"And if I refuse?" asked Zelda, afraid of what she might hear.
"Say goodbye to your freedom forever!" they said together.
Zelda laughed, "Is that the best he can do?! Keeping me locked up in here for the rest of my life isn't going to make me say anything!"
Twinrova smiled together, "Is that your final decision?" asked Koume. Zelda nodded.
"Well, now it gets fun! Don't you agree Koume?" said Kotake
"Of course!" she replied.
Zelda immediately began to regrate her decision, "Wh… What do you mean?"
Koume was the one to answer her question, "We mean that when we both said 'Say goodbye to your freedom forever', we meant something other than keeping you physically prisoner."
They were coming closer towards Zelda. She backed away until she met the wall behind her and could go no further. There was no way out, no hero to save her, no disguise to hide herself from the kingdom she abandoned.
"Don't worry, it will be completely painless." assured Kotake.
"But that depends on what kind of pain you're referring to Kotake."
"Your right Koume, but I'm sure that whatever this girl may feel, she will serve the Great Ganondorf well."
Then they both waved their wands and purple, shadowy beams shot from them at Zelda. The last thing she could remember before being trapped in endless darkness was Twinrova's cackling laughter.
Imprisonment of the body is despicable, but imprisonment of the mind is beyond evil.
Meanwhile, Ganondorf was sitting on 'his' throne. He had given up on trying to force where 'he' was out of Zelda. He was going to figure it out for himself. There were two Gerudo guards bowing down in respect. "Find him!" he ordered.
"Yes my Lord." They said together before standing up and leaving the room.

It was late at night and Link was making his way home along the Hyrule Field with a lantern in hand. He thought he heard a twig snap and span around only to see no one there. Just as he was about to continue walking, he felt someone grab him from behind (causing him to drop the lantern) and clamp a hand over his mouth so that he couldn't call out for help (Not like there was any 'help' nearby anyway).
"Hey! Do you think we got him?" he heard a woman's voice coming from his captor ask.
Another figure stepped into the light of the lantern. She had red hair, tanned skin and golden eyes like Nabooru but wore a red bandana over her mouth. "I don't know, but he fits the Great Ganondorf's description. Let's take him!"
Link couldn't believe his ears (A/N I bet you thought of his elf ears just then! If not, then you thought of then just now!). They were going to take him to Ganondorf's castle! The man, who had taken over Hyrule, killed the Hero of Time and nearly killed Nabooru as well. But what would he want me for? he thought. He thinks Nabooru's dead and he killed the Hero of Time so he wouldn't be looking for him.
Link was determined to escape from these guards. He could not let them take him away! (A/N He would never get to see Nabooru again!) His legs were free so he kicked the one in front of him hard. She fell backwards and the grip the other guard had on him loosened allowing him to wrench himself free from her arms. The Gerudo who was on the ground leapt up and Link had barely any time to use his shield to block her attack. He backed away holding his shield in front of him and saw both the guards follow him. He attempted to land a blow on them but they were fast and were able to protect themselves with their scimitars. Link tried again and again but they would always block his attacks.
Eventually he became exhausted from the continuous fighting. Finally, he could no longer fight and collapsed from exhaustion. There was nothing else he could do to save himself.
"This one is trouble! We're going to have to be extra careful if he is to be brought before our king in one piece!" he heard one of them say.
This is it, he thought to himself, I can't do anything to stop them! Then he heard the guards scream. Link lifted his head just high enough to see an arrow stuck in the ground. Another one flew where it narrowly missed one of the women, cutting a lose strand of her hair as it whizzed past her ear. A third arrow ripped the red, bellowing pants of the other Gerudo.
"Come on! We've got to get out of here!" she said.
"But the boy!" exclaimed the guard.
"Never mind him! We'll be killed if we stay here anything longer!" Just as she said this, another arrow landed inches away from her foot. They both ran away leaving Link all alone in the night.
~†~ The Price of Sins ~†~
Link woke up feeling dizzy. When he sat up and looked around him he found himself in a cave with the sun shining in. He looked around and saw a Keese roasting on a spit over a fire. (A/N For those of you who don't play Zelda, just pretend that it's a bat. Keese are very similar except they are more aggressive and can fly through different kinds of flame to deal more damage.)
"Oh good, you're finally awake!" he heard someone say. Link turned around and saw a woman with red hair and gold eyes like the guards from last night. Panicking, he drew out his sword. The woman came closer, "Link, don't worry! It's me, Nabooru."
Link gave a sigh of relief, "Sorry! I thought you were one of those guards who attacked me last night. You look like you've healed." He remembered the arrows shot at the guards. "Was that you who scared the guards away?"
Nabooru nodded. "You know archery?!" exclaimed Link. She nodded again. "Where did you find the bow and arrow?" he asked.
"It washed up on the shore of Lake Hylia today. I think that it belonged to the Hero of Time. Ganondorf must have thrown all his things down to the river at the bottom of the valley." she replied.
"Did you find anything else?" asked Link.
"Yep, I found his shield too. I thought you might prefer it to the one you already have, especially because it's been beaten up quite a bit last night."
She handed him a blue and white shield with the Hylian crest on it in red and the Triforce in yellow. Link took it and stared at it with awe. He had never seen anything so magnificent.
"Hey, why did those guards attack you?" asked Nabooru.
Link shrugged his shoulders, "Dunno, they just said that I fitted Ganondorf's description and were going to take me to me to his castle."
When Nabooru heard this, she got really worried, "Ganondorf? But what would he what you for?"
"I've been asking myself the same question!" answered Link. "Anyway, where are we?" he asked.
"We're in a cave at the edge of the Hyrule Field." she said, "I thought that you should lie low for a few days, but if Ganondorf is looking for you then you're going to have to find out why. Until then, you're to stay with me!"
Link was about to protest because of all the commitments he had to making a living but reconsidered. She must know more about Ganondorf than he did, and there was his promised sword training and… maybe seeing Nabooru all the time would be nice! No, he thought, We're just friends!
"Fine! But what's the plan?" he asked.
Nabooru smiled, "I thought that maybe you could help me find the Temple of Time. I don't know the way, but I thought you would."
"What?! You would really let me come with you?!" Link was really excited.
"May as well. Who knows? We might even find out why Ganondorf is looking for you!" she said. "Come on, you must be hungry! Let's eat this Keese before it burns." Link realised how ravenous he was and gratefully took her offer.
As he ate, he thought about everything that had happened lately, Nabooru's dreams, the Master Sword being struck by lightning, Key holder of the Triforce, A great destiny to be told at the Temple of Time and now… Me? Ganondorf wants me?!
Do not worry, your questions will be answered in good time…
~†~ The Price of Sins ~†~
And now Ganondorf is after Link! But why? And what happened to Zelda?! (Okay, so you should already know but you must still be curious!) Ganondorf still doesn't know why the Triforce split again or how to make sure it doesn't happen again. I will take this opportunity to clear up one bit of confusion: When Link (the now dead one) battled Twinrova, instead of getting killed they fled (Yes, the hilarious death scene has been erased from existence. Finally I'll tell you a fun fact: Did you know that if this fan fiction was actually part of the official LoZ Timeline, it would sprout a forth branch from the events of Ocarina of Time? There is actually a timeline called the Downfall Timeline already where the Hero of Time is defeated and the original Legend of Zelda takes place on it (and Zelda II).
P.S. YAY! Fi appears in the next chapter!
