Alright guys, this is just a bit of an information chapter. Should clear a few things up. Hope you enjoy.

Chapter 4

Artemis was surprised when she walked into her Phycology class and was immediately directed to a seat by the giant known to Forks High as Emmett Cullen. He was grinning like the mad man she was sure he secretly was as he landed a huge hand that she could feel was cold through both her jacket and her shirt on her by comparison rather tiny shoulder and propelled her to a desk closest to the window about halfway down the classroom. He sat her down on the seat by the window and slid into the seat next to her, and she was suddenly rather glad of her small stature as his huge shoulders took up most of the room - she was sure that if she had been much larger herself, she would have been squashed against the window.

"Alright there, Tiny?" He grinned at her, golden brown eyes dancing as he took in her disgruntled expression. She sneered at him, lifting her chin up at him. He just chuckled, biting his bottom lip to hold them all in. Although her expression may have said it, she couldn't truthfully say that she was not tiny - and anyway, compared to him, practically everyone was at the very least small.

"You enjoying school so far?" He asked as the teacher, a Mr Thomas, walked in and set what looked like a pile of very heavy books down on his desk.

"I suppose so - this is only my second day, I'm not sure yet." She answered cautiously, narrowing her eyes at him. He grinned at her, sticking the tip of his tongue out teasingly. In retaliation, she stuck her chin out almost impossibly and turned towards the front of the classroom, allowing her hair to flip with her movement dramatically - just in time, too, as the teacher suddenly called the class to attention.

Emmett grinned at her anyway, and she growled quietly as he stretched out even further, taking up nearly the entire table and pressing the length of his arm against hers. He chuckled at the weak sound, finding the girl rather hilarious. He could tell why the rest of his family was curious about her - he hadn't paid her much attention yesterday, having thought there was no need. But know that he was not only so close, but paying attention to her, he could tell that there was something different about her, something that none of their other classmates had, something that he could sense in her sister, though not quite as strong. He wondered if it was a family thing, and resolved himself to a little investigation.

He felt the warm limb against his own cold one shift, and looked up as the teacher started his talk. Looking over one more time, he smiled as Artemis shot her own small one at him.

Alice knew before she even entered Forks what would happen. As soon as the choice was made, Alice could see the general outline of the girls entire life from that moment - unlike her normal visions, this one was set in stone. Although the intricacies of her life was still a mystery, and a lot of the individual moments were shrouded in darkness, Alice could tell exactly what one Artemis Swan would be doing by the time she was seventeen. She'd known for weeks what their first meeting would be like, and now that the day was finally here, she was practically bouncing in her seat. Artemis came in a few minutes before the bell, and when she looked around for a seat, Alice took the opportunity to wave her over, almost frantically flapping her hand in the air. Artemis looked around quickly before raising thin eyebrows at the small vampire. Alice nodded in almost the same motion as her hand was still waving, and Artemis lifted the corner of her mouth in a small smile as she picked her way through the crowds of students standing around a different desks as they waited for the teacher.

"I sat next to your brother today." Artemis informed the other girl. "And I'm kind of scared that you're as crazy as he is." Artemis said, sceptically running her eyes over Alice's form.

Alice was maybe an inch taller than herself, with the same body shape. She was almost impossibly pale, although the make-up she was wearing gave her an illusion of colour. Her eyes were a burnt gold, the same older as both her older brothers, Artemis noted. Her hair was a dark brunette in a pixie cut, carefully styled so that it stuck in stylishly disarrayed points all around her face. Alice was wearing obviously expensive clothing - a pleated blue skirt that ended a little above her knees with a turquoise shirt and a dark blue - what looked like cashmere - cardigan. She also had on black boots that ended mid-calf to complete her ensemble and Artemis knew that Alice came from a family with money, and must love fashion if she took such care with her looks.

Alice took the time to do her own check, and although hers was much quicker, she took in the same information as her new companion. Artemis herself was pale, although not as pale as Alice herself, and with no make up to cover it. Her eyes were a mesmerizing blue, and Alice was almost ecstatic to finally see them in person. They were clear and intelligent, and Alice wanted to know all that they had seen. Her blonde hair was pulled up into a half-plait, and her bangs just fell into her eyes. She was wearing a dark red summer dress with black skinny jeans underneath and a long black cardigan with red converse. Alice silently approved of her choice of dress.

"I am, quite possibly, crazier." Alice informed the human, letting a teasing smile grace her face. Artemis' face fell and Alice giggled, once again waving her hand to the seat next to her, indicating to the human that she should sit down. Artemis did, although Alice could see the slight reluctance.

"What do you know about French?" Alice asked.

Artemis was glad that she wasn't asked how she was enjoying Forks so far.

"Quite a bit actually - I've been learning bits and piece of it since I was seven, and learnt it properly in school when I was eleven. I was actually planning on giving it up, but you need a language here, apparently." Artemis sniffed with disdain. "I've done Spanish since I was twelve, as well, but I hate that even more than French."

Alice looked at her confused, tilting her head.

"I've pretty much grown up in England - I got a scholarship over there when I was seven, for kids all around the world to learn from the best teachers all around the world. I think it was two people from every country involved for every year group." Artemis wasn't sure why she was telling someone she just met all of this, but she felt that she could tell Alice everything.

"Year group?" Alice questioned, checking the clock. She knew the teacher wouldn't be in for another six minutes.

"My age was the youngest, but they has people from age 7 to 14. I think its because if you're 7, then you can finish one set of education, and if you are 14, you could have finished university by the time the 7-year course was finished. With some people, I think that they offered you further education over there if they wanted to, to finish it." Artemis sighed, and said it before she could think of why she was telling this to a stranger. "They offered for me to stay over there, too, but mum said she'd only agreed to a 7-year plan." Artemis sighed.

"Why was it in England if there was people from all over the world?" Alice asked.

"Because they suggested it, and it's always been one of those places that you think are all posh and well-educated." Artemis said, giggling slightly. "They're probably going to do it again in a few years, if all the results were good, only in a different country."

"How did you get involved?" Alice asked curiously.

"I sent in an application. Everyone in school did it as long as they had their parents permission. It was a brilliant opportunity."

"Huh." Alice said.

Artemis stopped herself from saying more - she was telling all of this to someone she had never before met, and she didn't know why. She did know, however, that Alice made her feel safe. It wasn't something she usually felt around people, and her heart was telling her she could tell Alice anything and she wouldn't tell anyone else or laugh at her. However, her brain was telling her to shut up and not tell anything else to this stranger.

She listened to her brain this time around, smiling politely at the other girl and turning to face the teacher in anticipation of the teachers arrival.

Alice huffed silently at this gesture, secretly annoyed that the girl had stopped their conversation before she found out anymore information. These sorts of things, the information giving, were blurry at best, and she didn't like it. She was used to knowing anything as soon as decision was made, and apart from Artemis' future and general decisions, Alice couldn't see anything, and it frustrated her.

Huffing below a normal persons hearing range, she, too, faced the front of the classroom, flashing Artemis a bright smile as she did so.

Artemis didn't even get a chance to try and sit at the same table as yesterday, where she could already see a few people she recognised. Instead, she was immediately pushed towards the table the Cullens had sat at yesterday. She was pushed into a chair before she could protest, and Emmett sat down next to her in less then a second, He swung a gigantic arm around her shoulders, and she was almost afraid he'd break her.

"Jasper and Rosalie will get all of our lunches." Alice informed Artemis as she sat down in the seat on the other side of the human girl. Artemis just looked at her.

Bella didn't see her sister until the end of the day, by which she was beyond annoyed. It had started raining sometime during her last lesson, and she was soaked by the time she got to her truck after stopping by the office to turn in her slip once again, and now she was sitting in her truck waiting for her sister, where it was nearing freezing and she couldn't turn the truck on to get the heater started - she didn't have enough gas for that, and she didn't know how long Artemis would be.

So when her little sister turned up a little over five minutes later, soaked to the bone and shivering, but obviously very happy, Bella had a long rant prepared.
