Chapter 4 – B-A-S-E-B-A-L-L p2

Gokudera stayed quiet as he watched Giotto and Tsunayoshi Sawada hug it off. They turned off the lights and left, closing the door, letting the boy get some more sleep to keep him healthy.

They stood outside for a moment. Gokudera put his hands in his pockets, a lot of things and assumptions going through his mind.

Giotto opened his mouth to speak about his younger brother. "How is he?" He asked. He meant it in many ways. How is his learning going? How is he coping with the new environment? How is opening up his thoughts? In a scared manner or is he more accepting that he won't hurt him but rather help him?

"He's doing better, that's for sure." Gokudera answered as they started to walk away from the door. He was genius. He knew what many answers Giotto demanded for one question. "He's…talking more often, that's for sure. It seems to me that eh really likes talking but is in fact, scared of non-existent consequences. He likes the library the most to me, the kitchen, and then his room. I think that's the only place he's been to other than the dining room. Probably because he doesn't seem comfortable around bigger crowds."

Sometimes, it amazed Giotto how smart Gokudera could be. He always finds the hidden meanings in everything and seemed to know the right things to say when a person was uncomfortable. To a lot of people, Gokudera could be seen as sharp witted, mean and downright cruel but Giotto knew that the boy was a good person and the most loyal of them all.

Giotto held his hand out and just when Gokudera thought he was going to clap his shoulder, the hand ruffled his hair, messing it all up.

"Oi!" Gokudera yelped as he pulled away. Giotto was laughing, a wide grin on his face. Gokudera smiled a bit. It was nice to see his boss like this.

"Thank you, Gokudera." Giotto said sincerely. Gokudera blushed and looked away, scratching at his cheek.

"I-It's nothing boss."

Giotto shook his head. "No, it's not nothing. You're really helping me through all of this mayhem with me brother and his limited knowledge; more than anyone else. He needs someone to be there for him and I know you will. And it's not just a thank you for that. You're so loyal to me and I'm so happy to have someone like that in my Family. And I'll never forget that, Gokudera Hayato. Thank you." Giotto said.

Gokudera wore a full blown up smile. He felt really proud of himself after hearing that from his boss.

"Thank you, boss! I won't disappoint you!" Gokudera did a salute and ran off happily. Giotto watched fondly.

"What am I going to do with that boy?" He said, amused.

No Love

Tsuna didn't know if he liked darkness better than light. In the light, he saw a monster but he wasn't blind and knew what was happening around him. In the dark, true, he didn't know what was happening around him but a monster is a monster. And every monster was ugly, no matter how pretty it looked.

A monster could paralyze you with fear in a matter of seconds. In the dark, you couldn't see if there was a monster under your bed or hiding in your closet. If that monster was a human, you weren't able to see it but the upside was that it couldn't see you.

Tsuna concluded that he liked the dark better than the light.

So Tsuna feel asleep in a land of peace and a new friend named Gokudera Hayato.

No Love

It was the next day when Tsuna woke up, fresh and ready. He shuffled out of bed and changed out of yesterday's cloths. He changed into new clothes. He timidly walked outside, trying to get rid of the shyness on his face.

Looking out the window, Tsuna noticed that it was pretty early in the morning. At least 6:00 in the morning so he wouldn't be surprised if anyone was awake.

The walk to the library was a quiet one. He looked around and saw some halls that he didn't really pay attention to.

Finally, after reaching his destination, Tsuna opened the doors when he noticed that the lights were on. Someone had already come here. As he walked forward, there were some noises and yells.

"OI BASEBALL IDIOT! DON'T THROW THAT IT'S A BOOK NOT A BALL!" Defiantly Gokudera.

"Ahahaha! Sorry, Hayato, I just love baseball."

Suddenly, there was a loud sound of skin hitting skin, something Tsuna was very familiar with.

"Oi, Gokudera? Are you okay? You shouldn't hit your forehead! I heard that if you hit it head enough, your brain will shoot out the other way!"

"Ugh, my god, you're an idiot to believe something like that…"

Tsuna soon got where they were, hiding behind a book case.

The tall, happy-go-lucky guy Tsuna had met the first day he was here was standing with Gokudera, who was surrounded with books, laughing.

Tsuna quickly moved behind the bookshelf when the tall teen looked his way, only to accidently trip and fall on his butt.

"Ah! Tsuna!" Yamamoto Takeshi happily exclaimed as he walked around the bookshelf. He held a hand out to help the fallen boy but Tsuna just stood up by himself, not used to someone helping him up.

Tsuna nodded, not looking the teen in the eye, "H-hi…"

Yamamoto smiled brightly.

"Ah! You remembered my name! Awesome!" The teen exclaimed, frowning a bit when he noticed their new family member unconsciously moving back.

"Oi!" They both turned to see Gokudera sigh, his glasses in place and hair pulled back, holding a heavy book on his shoulder. "What are you two doing? Tsunayoshi, get over here so I can teach you some more on your reading and writing. Baseball nut, stop pestering him and go away so we can concentrate without you lowering our entire IQ and go annoy everyone in the tiny town."

Yamamoto smiled brightly, completely ignoring the fact that he was called annoying. "Ah! Hayato, that's a wonderful idea!" ("Stop calling me Hayato. It's Gokudera!") Yamamoto turned to Tsuna.

"Hey, how about you two come with me! We'll have an awesome time!"

"No!" Gokudera yelled. "He's not yet comfortable with crowds and I doubt he wants to go out in that blazing sun!"

Yamamoto turned to Gokudera. "Pleeeeeeaaassseee?" He made puppy eyes.

Gokudera stammered, his face in a blush. "N-No means no!"

"Awwwwh, come oooon, you know you want to!" He pleaded.

"Gya…" Was all Gokudera managed to get out. "O-Only if Tsunayoshi wants to…"

They both turned to Tsuna. He was silent as he watched Yamamoto plead with puppy dog eyes.

"O-okay…?" Tsuna said, very unsure. Yamamoto jumped for joy as Gokudera deflated but Tsuna could detect a bit of happiness and a touch of a smile on his face.

"Let's go!" The happy teen exclaimed and grabbed both of their hands and ran out, pulling them along the way. Tsuna squeaked, unused to others contact.

When they reached the door, they stopped. Tsuna was on his knees, gasping for breath.

"Tsunayoshi, are you alright?" Gokudera asked, secretly concerned. Yamamoto called for some water and in no time, a butler had come with a bottle of water.

"T-Thank you…" Tsuna muttered as he drank.

"Here!" Yamamoto exclaimed as he grabbed a back pack and handed it to the butler. "Can you fill these up with bottles of cold water and call Dash so he can drive us around?" The butler nodded.

"Come on, Tsuna!" Yamamoto chirped as they went outside. Tsuna marveled the heat that sizzled from the concrete. Thankful, they stayed under shade.

"Over here!" Yamamoto led them to the garage. It opened right before they got to it and there, standing tall and proud, was a man that Gokudera and Yamamoto seemed to notice.

Tsuna had to admit. This man, how to put it, was cool.

The adult had jet black hair and cool tan skin. He wore sunglasses, a fedora and a tux, which he wore very loosely, but made him look even cooler. Oddly enough, his man was holding a puppet that was really creepy looking but it didn't even make him less cool. It actually made him cooler.

In conclusion, this guy was cool.

"Hey kitties." The cool man called. He looked at Tsuna. Or, at least, Tsuna thought. His eyes were hidden by the sunglasses. "And new kitten. 'Sup?"

God, this man was cool.

Tsuna simply nodded in awe to the cool man. The cool man chuckled.

"Dash, at your service." The cool man said as he tilted his fedora in a cool fashion. Yamamoto jumped beside him.

"Cool, isn't he?" He squeaked in Tsuna's ear. He could only simply nod. For no words could explain how cool this man was.

"Come on, Kiddies. Hop in and let's drive." Dash coolly said. They complied and hopped in a hot red car with Gull wing doors. Tsuna could say right then that this was the coolest thing he's ever done.

Dash kept conversations going as they drove out of the forest. Cool conversations.

Tsuna also learned that his puppet was named Sal and that Dash had a cool younger brother named Dan. Also that Dash would have picked him out the day Tsuna had gotten here but Dan had gotten in some trouble with this new game or something like that and they had to fight…? Or something like that. Dash, of course, who was supposedly "cooler" won. With puppets? But Tsuna didn't doubt it. Cause this man was cool.

Once they got to the small town of Namimori, Dash drove them around and showed them the sights. The hot spots and where not to go, which Dash said he always went whenever he got brakes.

"Okay, kitties, want me to stay or leave you guys alone so you can show new kitten here the sights in person?" Dash said as he ruffled Tsuna's head. Tsuna didn't flinch but the contact was weird.

Gokudera said, "We'll take him personally." Even he couldn't be mean to the cool Dash.

"Okay, later bros," and with that, he sped away, loud, cool music coming from within the car.

It was silent for several seconds.

"God, he is cool."

They all looked at each other, surprised, before they burst out laughing; Tsuna with a quiet laugh, Gokudera with a withholding laugh, and Yamamoto not even tried to lower his.

"Ahaha-haha-haha!" Yamamoto wiped a tear from his eyes and he slowly stopped. "I think –we can all –ahaha –agree –how cool –Ahahaha –Dash is –ahahaha!" They nodded.

They walked around aimlessly.

"Where do you wanna go, Tsuna?" Yamamoto asked.

Tsuna looked away. "A-anywhere's….fine…Y-Yamamoto-s-san…"

Yamamoto suddenly frowned. Waving a finger in his face, he said, "Not Yamamoto, remember, Takeshi, Yama-chan, or Take-nii!"

Tsuna blushed. "U-Um….T-Takeshi…." He felt too embarrassed to say the other two publicly.

Takeshi nodded happily. "Hey! Hey! How about karaoke?!" He asked excitedly. Gokudera hit him on the head.

"No you idiot, he's still working on reading and all, choose something else." Gokudera growled.

Takeshi huffed "Fine." He thought for a moment. "Ah! How about My dad's sushi shop! Sushi for breakfast~!"

Gokudera sighed. "Sushi isn't exactly a healthy breakfast but I think we can manage." Gokudera said, thinking about Tsunayoshi's eating course. They also served soup so they could whip some up with the sushi.

They walked along the sidewalk until they reached a small sushi shop that said on the sign that said YAMAMOTO'S SUSHI.

"Welcome –Oh! Takeshi!"

"Hey dad!" Takeshi called to his dad. They looked very alike, Tsuna noticed.

"Come, come, sit! Do you need the menu?" His dad asked. Takeshi shook his head.

"Oh, and who's this young man?" he asked. Tsuna nodded a quick hello but looked away.

Gokudera nudged him. "Come on, this is your first step to talking to others…" He muttered to the boy.

Tsuna's mouth opened and closed again and again but Takeshi's dad waited patiently awith a kind smile on his face.

"S-Sawa…da….T-Tsuna…y-yoshi…." He quietly muttered. Takeshi's dada nodded with a similar bright smile on his face.

"Nice to meet you, Tsunayoshi-kun! My name is Yamamoto Tsuyoshi! We have almost similar names, Ahaha!" Yamamoto laughed. Tsuna nodded, trying to get his face void of emotion.

"Anyway, what will you guys have?" Yamamoto asked and Takeshi told him, ordering a clam soup as well for his new friend.

After they ate, they walked around some more, Tsuna drink lots of water, something Gokudera was oddly happy about. The sun was starting to go down

"So….where too next?" Takeshi asked. Again, they shrugged. "Let's just –"

"Hey, kids….watcha doin' in a place like this…?"

They all turned around and saw six threatening-guys. They looked around for some help and an asy way to get out of the upcoming mess but there was nobody around.

"Come on boys," said the supposed leader. "I think we can get some money out of this, doncha think boys?"

They surrounded the three kids. Gokudera growled just as threatening and stepped forward. Takeshi's smile was surprisingly not lost. He still stepped in front of Gokudera protectively.

"Ahahaha, guuuuuy~ No need to get all worked up. We really don't want to hurt you!" The teen laughed it all off. The six guys got even angrier.

"You callin us weak, you little shit!" One man stepped forward and threw a punch at Takeshi, who's smile was lost and now in place was a frown and calculating golden eyes.

Surprisingly, Takeshi invaded but suddenly was hit backwards but another punch from another guy who came up beside him. The second guy was suddenly hit back but Gokudera's fist.

"You shit!"

The leader turned and went to throw a punch at a trembling Tsuna when there was a cry of shock and three of the guys standing back and watching were thrown back into the street, unconscious and hurt.

With a sudden black blur, the man fighting Takeshi was suddenly cried out and fell to the floor, very dead looking.

Another blur came by and the last two men were pinned up the wall.

The three looked at their savior in shock.

"D-Dash!"

But it was only two of them that yelled.

Dash let go of the two who were already unconscious and turned to the kids.

"Are you alright guys?" He asked.

"Yeah, I am, just a punch to the cheek." Takeshi said as he rubbed his cheek, which was already turning an ugly purple.

"Fine," Gokudera scratched at his bruised shoulder, where he was hit.

"Kitten?" Dash looked at Tsuna, who was silent on the floor the whole time.

Dash walked forward, "Kitten, are you alright?"

Gokudera walked forward, "Tsuna…?" He could see the bottom half of Tsuna's face but all that there was, was a frown.

"Tsuna…" Takeshi crawled over to his new friend. "Are you okay?"

"Un…" Tsuna nodded and stood up.

And while Gokudera was glad Tsuna was alright, it scared him to see that the mask he had taken the time to break down was back up again, completely devoid of emotion.
