Camp Out

(Edward's POV AGE 6)

I grinned excitedly as I observed my mom finishing the last minute touches on the cupcakes she was about to put into the oven. I had been watching her intently as I held on tightly to my stuff mountain lion. I had originally been helping her out with the initial steps, but since it was about to go into the oven that meant an adult had to take over.

My mom was making the cupcakes for the camp out tonight. You see, it was the last day of school so all our friends would be coming over for one gigantic sleepover to celebrate. I couldn't wait to go camping with my friends, especially Bella. Ever since she moved here, I have never felt happier and it's been great.

"Mommy, are they going to be here soon?" Alice asked for the one millionth time. She had been dancing all around the kitchen in her pink tutu. She was doing all sorts of ballerina moves that could make a person dizzy just by watching them.

"Yes, dear," Mom answered as she placed the cupcakes into the oven. "In fact, they should be here in a few minutes."

"I think they'll be here right about now," Alice announced to us.

"Are you sure about that?" Mom asked, chuckling as she wiped her hands on a dish towel.

And, almost as if it were on cue, the doorbell rang. Alice grinned at this while my mother just chuckled. My pix of a sister had the tendency to call out these sorts of things.

"I knew it! They're here!" Alice squealed before she ran towards the front door.

I followed right behind my sister, tugging my mountain lion along. I watched as Alice opened the door wide to reveal our entire friend group. Emmett came running in first along side Jasper while Rosalie skipped in right behind them without a care in the world. Meanwhile, Bella was behind everyone she hugged on tightly to a lamb stuff animal.

"Eddie-boy! You gots a stuff animal!" Emmett snickered, noticing my lion. I felt my ears go hot at his comment as I looked down at my stuffed lion.

"It's-ah..." I stammered, trying to find my words. "It's none of your business, Emmett!"

"Whatever, dude," Emmett said, rolling his eyes. "Anyway, Bellsy's got one too." I then turned to Bella who was blushing an iconic bright pink.

"Let's go to the tents!" Alice squealed, reverting the subject from our stuff animals.

"The tents!" Emmett exclaimed as we proceeded to rush out to our backyard. Our Daddy had set the two tents up this morning before work. We weren't allowed anywhere near them until everyone else was here.

"Boys in one, girls in the other," Alice directed to our friends so they could place their stuff down for the day.

"So what do you guys want to do?" Emmett asked once we were all settled in. I shrugged with the rest of them until Rosalie bounced up with an idea.

"I know, hide-and-go seek!" Rose suggested eagerly, rubbing her hands together.

"Yeah!" Emmett agreed enthusiastically. "Hmmm– I say boys vs girls!" I frowned immediately at my friend's comment. I wanted Bella to be on my team.

"Okay!" Rosalie agreed, shrugging as she grabbed Alice and Bella's hands. "Rock, paper, scissor, shoot for who hides first?"

"You're on!" Jasper shouted at his sister, grinning widely as he and Rose battled it out for us. After an intense three matches, Jasper managed to nab Rosalie at the last minute. This meant us guys would hid first.

"You have twenty seconds!" Alice shouted at us.

"Oh jeeze," Emmett muttered, running away as fast as he could.

I panicked and dove behind the BBQ at the last minute. It wasn't a very good spot because I would only get caught by my sister. Meanwhile, Emmett had hid inside the tent, but he got caught when he sneezed. This caused Rosalie to find him right away. Jasper almost made it by hiding behind the trash cans, but Bella was able to find him.

The girls ended up successfully getting us all, so it was time for us boys to find the girls. "Now it's your turn to run," Emmett chortled mischievously, rubbing his hands together.

"Bring it on, big bear," Rosalie challenged as we headed over to the designated spot on the lawn to start the count down.

"You have twenty seconds!" Jasper added before the three of us closed our eyes to initiate the game.

It didn't take very long to find them. I found Alice hiding under the porch table and Jasper found Rosalie behind the small tool shed in the corner. However, the only person we couldn't find was Bella.

"BELLA!" We called out as we try to find her. We probably spent hours and hours trying to find her until we finally gave up. I was getting worried. Where the heck did she go? We didn't have that many hiding spots for her to hide in! What if someone took her!

"Bella, where are you!?" Emmett yelled, looking all around the backyard for his sister. "We give up! You win!"

"Up here!" Bella giggled. I frowned as we all then looked up to see she is in the big tree. How did we miss her?

"Bella! Get down from there! It's dangerous up there," Emmett scolded at his sister. Bella huffed at her big brother's comment as she proceeded to climb down the branch easily. She then flashed a smile as we all looked at her in surprise. Bella wasn't usually one for swift maneuvers. In fact, I spent most of gym class catching her.

"It wasn't that bad," Bella said, shrugging as if it were nothing.

"Just watch it, Bellsy. You are a danger magnet," Emmett said, chuckling. This only caused Bella to scowl at him in response.

"It was cool spider monkey, but be careful," I added. This only had her rolling her eyes.

"Don't worry," Bella replied, crossing her arms over her chest as she looked at us. "I'm fine."

"That she is," Alice declared, wrapping an arm proudly around Bella. "In the meantime, why don't we play another game. Maybe one that isn't hide-n-seek."

"Yeah," Rosalie agreed, smiling mischievously as she patted Emmett on the back. "In fact, let's play tag. Emmett's it!"

"Hey!" Emmett shouted as the rest of us scattered, laughing hysterically.

We proceeded to play tag around the yard for awhile after that. In fact, Bella tripped a couple of times. Good thing I was there to catch her for most of her falls or she would have had a lot of boo-boo's.

"I really don't know how you climbed that tree, Bellsy," Emmett remarked as I helped Bella up for the millionth time.

Bella immediately squinted her eyes at her big brother and put her hands on her hips. "Emmett McCarty Swan! Stop it right now!"

"You're not the boss of me!" Emmett responded, sticking his tongue out at Bella who only rolled her eyes.

As the Swan siblings bickered, big fat rain drops started to pelt rapidly at us. "Take cover!" Jasper shouted as we all screamed and ran inside to gain some sort of shelter from the monstrous rain drops. Not a big surprise for Forks. Know thinking about it, we really should have checked the weather...

"Oh dear!" Mom gasped as we all ran into the kitchen in a rather hectic frenzy. She had been sitting at the kitchen table with our father when we all arrived inside.

"Our camp out's been ruined!" Alice sobbed, looking at where the tents were currently being pelted with rain.

"This sucks!" Rosalie whined, her face forming a pout.

"We can't even camp for reals," Emmett added sadly.

"Oh no," Bella whispered, looking sadly at our campsite. I grew sad seeing Bella sad as I then went to take her hand in an act of comfort.

"Don't hesitate, kids," Dad declared, getting up from the table with my mother who smiled at him. "I think we can still save this party."

"Really?" I asked eagerly.

"Don't worry. Your father and I got this," Mom said as the two of them grinned at each other.

With that, our parents worked their magic and we were able to still have a campout, in the living room. We were now under a tent my mom made from a very large sheet and some chairs. We had set up our sleeping bags in a circle with a lantern in the middle. My sister had a Tinker Bell sleeping bag, Alice was right next to Jasper who had a X-Men sleeping bag, Rosalie was next to him with her Barbie sleeping bag, Emmett was next to her with his Teenage Mutant Ninja turtles Sleeping bag, Bella was right next to him with her Bugs Bunny sleeping bag, and I was next to her in my Superman sleeping bag.

"Pizza's here!" My mom called out to us from the kitchen. We then run into the kitchen to grab a couple of slices of mouthwatering pizza. Like always, Emmett decides to play with his food, making us laugh– even though Mommy did scold at us. Once we were done with our pizza we decided to then get into our pajamas before we go and watch Beethoven.

I got into my red and white Mickey Mouse pajama's before I went to see everyone else in theirs. Alice was wearing her purple pajama's with the fairies on them to match her Tinker Bell sleeping bag, Rosalie was wearing pink ones with princess crowns, Jasper was in army camouflage pajama's, Emmett had black Batman ones, and Bella was wearing light blue Scooby-Doo ones.

"Who wants cupcakes?" Mommy asked as she placed them on the table. We all grabbed one greedily. After all, my mom makes the best cupcakes in the entire world!

"Alright let's watch Beethoven!" Emmett chirped as we went into the den to watch it. After the movie, mom told us we had to shut the T.V off but could stay up as long as we wanted, as long as we were quiet.

"So...What do you guys want to do?" Jasper asked as we all sat around the battery lamp set up in the middle of our sleeping bag circle.

"Well, I wanted to see if we could find Bigfoot," Emmett said dispassionately. "However, since we're not sleeping outside we can't."

"Why Bigfoot? He's a monster," Bella whimpered in fear, looking at her brother in astonishment.

"Monsters aren't real," I told Bella. "Mommy and Daddy say they aren't."

"You never know," Alice mentioned. "I mean if fairies are real, they could be too."

"Watch out Bellsy! Bigfoot could come tonight and eat you!" Emmett snickered, causing Bella to whimper some more. I gave her a hug while I glared at Emmett. He only laughed in response while Rosalie gave him a nudge.

"Did you know there is something called the Loch Ness monster, but she lives in Scotland," Jasper told us. "My dad told me about her the other day."

"I've heard that one too!" Alice exclaimed. "She's like a snake that lives in the water!"

"I have an idea!" Rosalie said to us. "Why don't we tell scary stories since all of you seem to know about monsters."

"Oh! Good idea, Rose," Jasper said, smiling in agreement at his twin sister.

Jasper proceeded to go first. His story was about how the Loch Ness monster invaded the U.S but the army was there in time to stop it. Alice went next and her story wasn't scary. It was about a fairy who is trying to find the perfect pair of shoes. Rosalie told us about the bogey man and how he likes to eat kids. Meanwhile, Emmett told us about the time Bigfoot and the Chicken monster crossed paths. Bella didn't have one nor did I. They all whined, of course, but just dropped it. It didn't matter anyway because they soon all fell asleep.

"Edward?" Bella whispered in the night. I frowned as I turned to my side to face my best friend. She looked scared as she pulled the sleeping bag over her head.

"Yeah, Bella?" I asked quietly.

"I'm scared," she confessed to me. "What if Bigfoot comes with the Chicken Monster?"

"Spider Monkey, they'll have to go through me first," I said, showing off my muscles. This just made Bella giggle before she proceeded to snuggled closer to me. I chuckled as the two of us lay side by side in our sleeping bags.

"Edward, you're my best friend in the whole entire world," Bella whispered to me. "But don't tell Rosie or Ali I said that. They are still my best friends too and I don't wanna hurt their feelings."

"You too, Bella," I whispered back. "But don't tell Em or Jazz that either." Bella chuckled at this before the two of us found ourselves snuggling up close to one another. Falling fast asleep with nothing but good dreams, that didn't involve Bigfoot...Or the Chicken Monster.
