Kurt slowly opened his eyes and proceeded to take in his surroundings. It took him a moment to remember where he was, but once he did he smiled at the familiar feeling of waking up in the dorm room. Blaine's quiet snores filled his ears, something Kurt also fondly remembered from his time at Dalton. No longer rooming together meant Kurt didn't get to wake up next to Blaine as often anymore, so he laid quietly for a few more minutes before shaking Blaine awake.
"Time to wake up, sleepy-head." Kurt shook Blaine's shoulder but he only groaned in response and tightened his arms around Kurt's waist.
Kurt playfully rolled his eyes. Glancing at the clock Kurt replied, "It's already nine, and you know they stop serving breakfast -"
Kurt didn't get to finish his sentence as Blaine quickly jumped out of bed and tugged on his shirt. "I'm up! There's no way I'm missing my first breakfast back at Dalton."
Kurt tugged on a shirt as well, slipped on his slippers and quickly glanced in the mirror to make sure his hair was okay. "Let's get the others and head downstairs then, shall we?"
Just as Kurt was about to open the door, Blaine wrapped an arm around his waist and tugged him back. "You didn't think you were gonna get away without a good morning kiss, did you?" Without giving Kurt a chance to respond, Blaine connected their lips and lightly pushed Kurt up against the wall, causing Kurt to sigh. But just as quickly as he started it Blaine pulled away, throwing Kurt a wink before heading out into the hallway.
"We'll be finishing that later!" Kurt shouted after him. Quinn and Rachel were exiting their room at the same time and smiled upon seeing the boys.
"Kurt, Blaine! We were just coming to wake you up - why aren't you dressed for breakfast?" Rachel asked them.
Blaine chuckled and Kurt shook his head. "You really think a bunch of teenage boys get dressed and dapper for breakfast? Especially on a Sunday?" Both girls rose an eyebrow at Kurt's words.
Blaine patted Rachel's shoulder and said, "You're going to see more boys in their boxers than you've ever seen before."
"What about boxers?" Finn asked, poking his head out of his room and rubbing his eyes. Spotting Rachel, he flashed her a grin and she skipped over to quickly kiss him.
"Nothing important." Rachel told him. "Ready for breakfast?"
Finn nodded and Puck forced his way out of the room at the mention of food. "Did you say breakfast?"
"Yes," Kurt began. "and we don't have much longer until it ends."
"Well then let's go!" Puck began banging on doors and flinging unlocked ones open, effectively waking up the rest of the group.
The one's that were already standing in the hallway turned their heads to David when they heard his voice. "Oh for God's sake, Wes! Just go get it, you know they're probably still asleep!"
"And how do you suggest I get into their locked room, David?"
Kurt rolled his eyes again and stepped in front of Nick and Jeff's door. "Let me show you something, Wesley." Reaching for the top of the door-frame, Kurt moved his hand along it until he found what he was looking for. Turning back to Wes he held up a small, gold key.
Wes furrowed his brow. "Is that a key to their room?"
"Well what else would it be? Come on Wes, you know they're always locking themselves out - this solves it."
Without another word Wes stormed over to Kurt and snatched the key out of his hand, immediately unlocking the door and shoving it open. Kurt poked his head inside, and he could tell by the sets of hands on his shoulders that the others were trying to see as well. While Wes was fumbling around the room, Nick and Jeff remained asleep and tangled together in the corner bed on the right side of the room. Kurt found it rather endearing and smiled at the two until his eyes landed on Wes again, who was tearing the room apart.
"Wes, you're making a mess! Their room is probably never this clean and you're ruining it!" Kurt exclaimed.
"Kurt, I will find that gavel if it's the last thing that I do." Wes proceeded to slam a dresser drawer shut, waking up Jeff who abruptly sat up.
"What the hell do you think you're doing?"
Wes spun around to face Jeff. "You know exactly what I'm doing, Jeff."
Jeff stared at him for a moment before responding. "Get out!"
"Give me the gavel and I'll be happy to!"
Jeff rolled his eyes and groaned. "You're literally ridiculous!" He reached underneath his pillow and eventually held up the gavel, Wes immediately snatching it.
"Thank you!" Wes pushed past everyone to exit the room.
Kurt heard Jeff mutter "Jesus Christ," quietly under his breath, causing him to chuckle. Blaine then asked, "Will you two be joining everyone for breakfast?"
Jeff nodded. "Yeah, just let me get him up and moving." He motioned to Nick, who remained unfazed and asleep throughout the whole ordeal.
"Good, see you down there!" Kurt shut the door, giving them their privacy. Turning around he saw that everyone was chatting in the hallway ready to go, including Wes who was looking quite smug.
"You are ridiculous Wes, you know that?" David asked him.
Wes just grinned. "Oh David, your opinion doesn't matter because my gavel has been returned!" Wes began to make his way down the corridor. "It's a glorious day!"
Mercedes shook her head. "How is he still going on about that thing?"
"Damn, I thought dinner was a lot - look at all the breakfast food!" Artie exclaimed, making his way through the food line. Eventually all of New Directions was seated at a table, along with David and Wes.
"So what do you guys usually do on Sunday's?" Tina asked.
David shrugged. "Depends. A lot of people do homework, sometimes we go out to eat - but we usually just lie around, especially on days like today when the weather is shitty." He gestured to the window, and sure enough rain was pelting it.
"I'm sure you guys probably want to explore the rest of the school a bit more, too." Wes added. Several people at the table nodded eagerly.
"Is there a lot more to see?" Mike asked.
Blaine nodded. "Oh, so much more. A full tour will take hours."
"Well, I don't know about everyone else, but I definitely wanna see more of the fancy school." Brittany said.
"I'm in for a tour." Sam added. Everyone else seemed to agree with the plan.
Wes's voice suddenly had everyone's attention. "Well good morning Jeff, Nick!"
Jeff muttered something under his breath and Nick promptly punched Wes in the shoulder. "Are you done?" Nick asked.
Wes nodded. "I think so. But don't ever take my gavel again!"
Both boys rolled their eyes causing the rest of the table to snicker. "Got any plans for today, guys?" Blaine asked the two.
"Nothing solid." Jeff answered. "Homework's all done."
"Good." Kurt said. "New Directions would like a full tour of the school."
"Is it really all that big?" Quinn asked.
Kurt nodded. "The whole campus is huge, mainly because there are multiple buildings. You guys will probably love the athletic building."
"There's a whole building for it?" Puck asked, mouth full of food.
"We'll show you the classrooms too, so you're not completely lost tomorrow."
"We haven't really looked closely at the schedule yet but I think were all in Mr. Hansen's Psychology class first thing tomorrow." Blaine said.
"Awesome!" Nick began. "There's only like, eight of us right now so maybe he'll pick on you guys instead."
Finn groaned. "No, I suck at Psychology!"
"Mr. Hansen's not bad, he just likes to pick on people." Wes said. "It's actually really funny."
"But back to the gym." Puck interrupted. "Is there a weight room?"
Wes nodded. "Weight room, swimming pool - anything they can think of to force us to work out."
"Well if everyone's done," Puck stood up, going around and collecting dishes. "then let's get moving!"
"So aside from the main and dorm buildings, there's the academic building, which is named Sander's Hall. That's where you'll be most of the time." David motioned to his left, where a large building stood. "To the right is the athletic building, which is named Carson's Athletic Center. Puck, I'm assuming you wanna go there first?"
"You bet your ass I do!" Puck ran ahead with the rest of the group trailing behind. The inside was littered with boys in workout clothes, and Kurt rolled his eyes when several of the girl's jaws dropped.
"Quinn, you're drooling." She playfully glared at Kurt in response to his comment.
"So you can see the pool." Sure enough, the pool was visible through two glass doors several feet ahead. Wes continued, "There are two gymnasiums upstairs, and the weight room is to the right there."
"Finn, dude." Puck began. "There's like, triple the amount of equipment in there compared to McKinley! I can tell you where we'll be later."
The group separated to explore the building a bit, and by the time everyone had met up again an hour had passed. Exiting the athletic building, everyone continued on into Sander's Hall, which appeared to be mostly deserted other than a few people in the library.
"There are three floors in this building." Blaine began. "The library, English, History, and Social Science classes are all on this floor. The Science and Math labs make up the second floor, along with a computer lab. And then you have stuff like art classes and electives that happen on the third floor. There's a ton of classrooms though, so sometimes stuff gets moved around."
"It's been months but I think I actually remember everything." Kurt said, grinning at Blaine.
"Well I'm glad you do because I'm not leaving your side tomorrow." Mercedes said. The rest of the group nodded apprehensively.
"You'll get the hang of it, I promise. Plus you'll have Blaine, David, Wes... where are Nick and Jeff?"
"Over here." David said. Both boys were sprawled across a couch, obviously asleep. "It's clearly past their nap time."
Glancing at his phone, Kurt noted that it was already one in the afternoon. "I could totally go for a nap." Tina said.
"You guys can nap, we're heading to the weight room!" Puck clapped Sam on the back, tugging him, Finn, Mike and Artie along with him.
"Well I'm not really tired." Blaine said. "Movie anyone?"
All of the boys, including Wes and David, returned to their rooms to change and then headed back to the athletic building. Kurt and Blaine managed to drag Nick and Jeff back to their room before joining the New Directions girls in the floor commons.
"So," Blaine began. "what movie are you ladies thinking? We have Grease, 21 Jump Street, Step Brothers, Hairspray -"
"Hairspray!" Brittany yelled. "I love the songs!"
"Hairspray it is then!" Blaine exclaimed, popping the movie into the DVD player.
"So," Kurt began, sitting on the floor next to Rachel. "what do you guys think of the campus now that you've seen it all?"
"I still can't get over how huge it is." Quinn said.
"I still can't get over how many attractive dudes go here and how little go to McKinley." Santana added.
"I hear that." Mercedes said, raising a hand.
"Oh, please." Kurt looked at her. "I saw you and Sam snuggling on the bus ride here."
Mercedes blushed. "That doesn't mean anything." Everyone loudly protested, playfully shoving Mercedes.
"You know what we should do?" Blaine said to Kurt.
"What's that?"
Blaine leaned over to whisper something in his ear, and the girls looked at them curiously. Kurt's face suddenly lit up, and him and Blaine quickly jumped up and headed down the hall. A brief moment passed before all the girls followed them, and soon they were standing in front of someone's dorm door. When Kurt reached up for the door frame once again to retrieve a key, it clicked who's room they were at.
"What are we doing at Jeff and Nick's room?" Rachel asked.
"Consulting the masters of matchmaking." Blaine replied, wiggling his eyebrows at Mercedes.
"Wait, what?" Before Mercedes could really respond, Kurt had already unlocked and pushed open the door.
Blaine flicked on the light. "Nick, Jeff! Wake up!"
"Wha?" Jeff exclaimed, before promptly falling off the corner bed. He groaned while Nick remained unfazed and asleep.
Kurt and Blaine entered the room and sat on the spare bed while the girls shuffled in behind, also taking various seats around the room. "We need your help." Kurt said.
Mercedes shook her head, but Kurt held up a hand at her. "Ignore her, we do."
Jeff stood up and took a seat on his bed, proceeding to shake Nick awake. "Nick, wake up. We have company."
Nick sighed but his eyes remained closed. "Are you fu-" Before Nick could get the word out Jeff clamped a hand over his mouth, causing Nick to open his eyes and glare at him.
Jeff grabbed Nick's shirt and tugged him into a sitting position, then whispered something to him that seemed to cause him to perk up. "So," Jeff continued. "what can we do for you?"
Kurt looked directly at Mercedes, who tried to avoid eye contact with him. "You can trust them, Mercedes." Blaine said. "I promise you that."
Mercedes turned her attention to the two boys, who were smiling softly at her. Nick had an arm wrapped securely around Jeff's waist, and Mercedes found it endearing. Something about it made her feel better about telling them her problem. "Okay." She began. "I... like Sam."
Both boy's grins widened. "Relationship advice!" Nick exclaimed. "You came to the right place. Does he like you back?"
Mercedes shrugged but everyone else nodded eagerly. "Oh, definitely." Kurt said. "She just doesn't think so."
"Why don't you think so?" Jeff asked.
Mercedes sighed. "He's just being friendly. Why would he like me?"
"What do you mean?"
"I just don't see why he would like a girl like me."
"Mercedes," Nick began. "don't talk down about yourself."
"Let me tell you something." Jeff said, all eyes moving to him. "Before Nick and I started dating, I thought the same way."
Both Blaine and Kurt looked surprised, having never heard this before. Jeff continued, "I used to tell myself that I wasn't good enough for him, and that I never would be. So I pushed all my feelings away - and that sucked."
Kurt then said, "Jeff, I'm sorry to interrupt but I never knew any of this."
Jeff smirked at him. "That's because I don't think that way anymore, and I haven't since I told Nick how I felt."
Nick ran a hand up and down Jeff's side softly before speaking. "Kurt and Blaine brought you here because we've been known to... scheme in the past - and let me tell you, the only reason Wes has a girlfriend is because of us. So we could come up with a plan, but I think we both agree that you should just... tell him."
It was quiet for a moment as Mercedes let their words sink in, then she suddenly had a grin on her face. "I want to." A collective round of cheers made her smile even more. "But I just don't know how to do it without getting too nervous."
Nick and Jeff glanced at each other for a quick moment before Jeff said, "I think we can help."
Okay, a few quick notes!
1. I am so, so, so sorry for the complete lack of updates for such a long time. A lot of you are really dedicated to this story and I don't want to lose that. I promise I'm going to be better.
2. Poll: Aside from Psychology, which was mentioned in this chapter, what other classes do you want to see everyone attend? Anyone specific you want to see more of? Less of?
3. I think I'm going to have New Directions interact mostly with Nick, Jeff, Wes and David. The other Warblers will definitely make appearances, but you will mainly see those four.
The next chapter will involve the group attending classes, and I will continue the Mercedes/Sam stuff over the next few chapters.
Thank you to those who are sticking by this story. Your reviews mean the world to me!
