Hey it's me Grayscale Swan again, I have to say it took a lot of courage for me to update again but I don't want to just leave this story because Fanfiction is fun! Everyone who views this story you guys are awesome and I want to give a big shout out to TheWordMasterofFiction and TheIlliest again for support. (You should check out TheWordMasterofFiction's fics too they are amazing!) Nintendo owns all the characters used an this story.
The atmosphere became shockingly harsh and as the thick smoke cleared three people started strutting into the room. Wait, Lucas didn't think they were people at all, they were animals all decked out in fancy looking military uniforms. He intently watched their every movement and examined them. The guns they were holding seemed to be extremely advanced like it was some kind of intergalactic laser technology. On each of their chests they wore a shiny police badge, Lucas was a little disappointed how they didn't wear those cool police hats. But he was pretty terrified of them as well something about them just looked grim and scary.
One of the officers was some sort of bird, his determined frown and chiseled beak made Lucas shiver in fear. Right next to that officer was another who looked like some sort of canine, he seemed to have a tough loud voice and a wolfish grin when he stepped up to Redd. The last officer looked a lot like Redd himself, he must have been some sort of fox. Whatever he was he was all about business, Lucas could tell from the way he hastily pulled out two pairs of hand cuffs and shouted at the criminals.
"Do you know how long we've been looking for you two? You and all your associates are under arrest."
The avian officer turned to Lucas, Rope Snake and Pit with a growl.
"Even the familiar looking angel and friends."
Rope Snake tightened his stomach muscles around Lucas' neck again out of fear. This was looking bad, as Lucas struggled to take a breath he quickly though to himself. Why is this happening!? Is Pit some kind of criminal.
The young hero's thought was interrupted by the sound of Pit being tackled to the floor by the wolfish officer. Before Lucas knew it, he too was pushed to the ground and Rope Snake had been in the clutches of the wolf's claws. As he was being restrained Lucas managed to take a look at the officer's badge.
Officer O'Donnell.
Lucas whimpered and tried not to look directly into the wolf's eyes, the scar on his left eye was already intimidating enough. All the officers put handcuffs on everyone in Redd's little store and very unkindly escorted them to their police car. Strangely enough the car didn't look like a car at all. It was some sort of tank, with a canon protruding from the front of it. Lucas hung his head as Officer O'Donnell steadily pushed him to climb into the war machine.
"You all have the right to remain silent. Anything you say can and will be used against you in a court of law. You have the right to an attorney. If you do not have an attorney, one will be appointed to you. Do you understand!?" He barked while brutally tossing Rope Snake into a cramped cage.
Lucas whimpered and struggled as he was told his Miranda rights. He was a bit too young to know how to behave in this situation nor pay any attention to his constitutional rights. However he did pay attention to one of the officers, the fox, he had a saddened look on his face. As Lucas glanced over at the officer he couldn't help thinking to himself, Do they actually have emotions? Police officers are tyrants.
Officer O'Donnell pushed Lucas into the alleged police car and shut the door once everyone was in. Pit looked down at the cold steel floor somberly, he was already starting to look like a jailbird. After looking at the angel for just a bit longer it seemed as if Pit knew this exact feeling. Like he was remembering, reflecting on his actions. Just when Lucas was about to say something smart he could hear a conversation between two of the officers.
He suspected the softer voice was the fox officer and the louder more crass voice was the avian officer.
"What are you talking about Fox?"
"Come on Falco there was a kid in there. I think we need to do a little investigation, interrogation, anything because I don't think that kid could hurt a fly."
"Who do you think you are? We got criminals like the Tiger running around here, that kid could be him for all we know. And we already got the angel and we know he's working with Tiger anyways."
"Now, we don't know that Falco."
"No Fox, you don't know that. But I know that, let's go."
They jumped into the vehicle and more police cars seemed to be arriving. Lucas sat back and swallowed at the conversation he just heard. It was off to the police station for them.
The sputtering tank stopped on a dime and soon after everyone was taken out of the car and taken into the station. It was traumatizing for Lucas, he and and already caged Rope Snake were thrown into a tiny holding cell near the station's lobby. Everyone had been contained except for Pit, Officer O'Donnell dragged him deeper into the gray building with Pit's bow in his paws.
As Lucas looked around all he saw was gray, the walls were gray. The floors were gray. The cell bars were gray. He even looked down at Rope Snake and his once vibrant scales were graying.
A door off into the distance slammed then an interesting noise could be heard. The sound was approaching, it sounded like wheels trudging down the hall, it was a robot. The contraption was tall and lanky, and had a flat bottom but two arm like appendages protruding from what looked like a pole the served as it's trunk. It must have been acting as some sort of watch dog, it just rolled up and down the halls monotonously.
However when it got close to Lucas it stopped and turned to look at him. Immediately Lucas cowered and jumped back when he caught a glimpse of those bionic lenses that must have been some kind of sensory tool. The lenses whirled and the robot trilled quietly, all Lucas could do was look away.
Eventually the robot went back to sentry duty and Lucas curled up in fetal position clutching Rope Snake's cage tightly. He was consumed by fear, he didn't want to be dragged to where Pit was, he didn't want to go to prison, he didn't want to be here. His hyperventilating made Rope Snake feel terrible.
"Lucas, it will be fine. Just think happy thoughts?" Lucas sniveled and started to sob, he thought he would listen to Rope Snake's cliché advice.
He thought and he thought for a while, first of scary things, then of Rope Snake. Then Duster and Kumatora, then Boney the dog. And then home. Home seemed so great, yet so far away to Lucas. It was a safe mountain sanctuary with crisp air and green grass. All the thinking, crying and the robots rhythmic trudging made Lucas tired, and he finally fell asleep.
As he slept he had a dream about a boy, but Lucas couldn't quite figure out who he was. The boy did how ever remind Lucas of his deceased brother Clause. He was short red headed and quite energetic, then he began to speak in a squeaky voice. "I'm gonna leave this apple here. The core might be hard, but... The core... The core might be too hard to ear, but be sure you eat it! We'll get stronger... We'll get so strong even Dragos won't stand a chance against us-icus!"
And at that very moment Lucas was awakened by a loud grinding noise. When he jumped up he saw Pit sawing at the bars on Lucas' cell with his bow. As Pit sawed vigorously Lucas screamed then noticed his guardian angel was covered from head to toe with black oil. The sentry robot was laying on the ground in bits and pieces completely decommissioned.
"Wake up Lucas! We're getting out of here, I got a lead on the sorry soul who stole your powers."
Rope Snake thrashed around and cheered. "Hell yeah! Thank you Pit!"
When Lucas heard Pit's voice he was feeling two different emotions. A wave of sheer happiness swept over him now that he was going to leave this place safely, but he also quivered because he was scared to leave with Pit. Lucas heard the officers loud and clear, Pit was a criminal.
