As it turned out, the invitational didn't succeed without any drama. April Rhodes ended up being just as much of an alcoholic as we thought she was and wasn't able to stay in our glee club. We also ended up getting back Rachel Berry, who ended up being a lot more annoying than I figured she had to be. The first thing she did when she came back was make sure that we all knew that she was in charge and I was even sure that Mr. Shue let her be. It was pretty obvious who was running the show and it definitely wasn't our teacher. Still, she did have her moments where she was almost tolerable. It also seemed that due to the fact our competition for Sectionals was a deaf group and an all girls prison, no one seemed too worried over actually practicing.

"Mr. Shue really thinks that getting us to compete against each other will motivate us. Honestly, there isn't anything that I think will make these people be motivated," Sasha complained. I laughed and Puck came up behind us.

"Come on, Sasha. We're not all a bunch of lazy slobs," he said, putting his arm around her shoulders. She rolled her eyes and tried to shrug him off.

"You're the worst one in there, Puckerman," she snapped. He laughed and looked over at me.

"Are you coming over after school? You know I have no idea what we're doing in math," he said.

"Maybe if you'd go to class, you'd know something," Sasha told him. He groaned.

"Jeremy, are you coming or not?" he asked. I nodded.

"I'll be there. I can't have you failing out," I replied. Puck nodded, kissed Sasha on the cheek, and walked away. When he was gone, she made a face and wiped her cheek.

"Your friend is gross," she stated.

"He just likes you. Are you going to come to his house with me?" I asked. She nodded.

"I'm not staying at our house by myself," she said. I only nodded. I understood where she was coming from. I didn't want her at the house alone with our father either. Later that day, we went over to Puck's house and tried my best to help him with math. Unfortunately, Puck was pretty much hopeless.

"Come on, Puck. This isn't as hard as you're making it." Puck groaned and pushed his book off the table.

"Just don't worry about it. I've never going to maintain a C. I'm not smart enough," he said. I sighed and rubbed my face. Sasha picked up his book and put it back on the table in front of him.

"You're going to study this with no complaints the rest of the time we're here. You complaining isn't getting any of us anywhere. I've sat here long enough to hear Jeremy explain this to you over and over again that even I know about it. Now, we're going to sit here, just the two of us, without Jeremy, and you're going to learn it. I get that you think that you're too cool to be smart, but we just spent an hour here trying to teach you this crap and you're still not getting it. I don't think you're not smart enough to get it, you just don't want to do it," she said. She took my place beside him and we spent another hour with Sasha telling Puck what all to do and eventually, we were done.

"Thanks you guys. Most people would have just given up on me by now, but not you. I'm sorry that I was being so difficult. All it took was Sasha threatening me a couple times for me to get it," he said. I smiled.

"Not an issue. But Sasha and I really need to get going. We're going to be in so much trouble if we're late and my dad's home," I said. Sasha stiffened as I mentioned our father. We both left and drove to our house. My body went cold as I saw our dad's car sitting in the driveway. Sasha gave me a look and I bit my lip.

"He's home early," she said.

"I want you to go in behind me and run as fast as you can to your room. Whatever you hear, ignore it," I said. I knew Sasha wanted to protest, but she didn't. Instead she nodded. We both knew what was going to happen when we went in that house. I just hoped that I could protect Sasha enough so that nothing would happen to her. If I could do that, then it was all going to be fine.

"You're not landing that turn right." I looked up from my spot in the Glee room to see Rachel standing at the door. Our group had decided on our mash up and I was trying to perfect the steps. Usually, I was a fine dancer, but that day, my right leg was bothering me. It made it really hard to land any turns or do anything.

"Thanks, I figured that," I said as I tried again. This time, when I landed, pain shot throughout my whole body. Rachel didn't seem to notice my pain, but instead seemed to be focused on my moves.

"You're not much of a dancer, are you?" she asked. I rolled my eyes.

"My dancing is fine. Sasha's been taking dance since they were three. So I've learned a couple things over the years," I snapped.

"Apparently not enough," she stated as she walked in. I groaned.

"Are you here to criticize my dance moves?" I asked. She shook her head.

"No. That's not what I was doing. I was just coming to see if you needed any help. You know I'm a professional. I've been in ballet and tap classes for a long time. I can teach you a lot," she said.

"I don't need help. I can dance just fine. I'm just a little sore," I replied.

"You just need to learn breathing exercises to get through the pain. Can I ask what happened?"

"Football. I guess I just got tackled wrong," I lied. She only nodded.

"You need to be careful. I've seen you do tricks and flips and stuff during games and that could be useful to the New Directions. I want to win and I can't have you unable to perform," she told me. I laughed a little.

"Right. Because everything has to benefit Rachel Berry," I snapped.

"You're a very hostile person. It's no wonder you're friends with Puck," she said.

"Look, I don't need your help, okay?" I said. She sighed.

"Fine. Don't take my help. But you'll be the reason the boys lose," she said and then walked away. I watched her leave and then tried my move again. Eventually I gave up and the rest of the guys came in.

"Dude, are you okay? You don't look like you're feeling well," Artie commented. I nodded.

"I'm fine. Don't worry too much about me," I replied. Puck gave me a look and I ignored him. I didn't need his pity. Out of the corner of my eye, I saw Kurt give me the same worried look. We talked for a little bit until Finn came in. When he walked in, he was really different. The whole week, he had been in a dead, tired mood. Now he was bouncing off the walls.

"They're Vitamin D pills. I've never felt this good. You should all try them. You know we have to be our best to beat the girls," he said. It didn't take very much convincing before we all took the pills. It was safe to say that they worked. It was so good, I didn't even feel the pain in my leg. I could tell Mr. Shue was highly impressed with our performance, which was good. We didn't need for him to keep thinking that we were slacking off.

"So what was it that made you feel so good?" Sasha asked later on the way home. I gave her a confused look.

"What are you talking about?" She rolled her eyes.

"Oh please. I know your leg has been bothering you. Dad didn't go easy on you last night," she said.

"They were like Vitamin D pills or something like that. I don't know. It was nice to not be in so much pain," I replied. She gave me a sad look.

"You protected me and I feel bad. Maybe you wouldn't be so hurt if-"

"Don't, Sash. Don't worry about it. I want to protect you. He has no right hurting you," I stated. She frowned.

"He doesn't have a right hurting you either," she replied. I smiled lightly.

"But I can handle the pain. Football has prepared me for this. Don't worry about me," I told her. She only sighed.

"We can't tell them that we cheated. Just because you got a guilty conscious, doesn't mean that the rest of us are," I said once Finn brought up telling on us all. It was just the two of us and it was a suggestion. He sighed. I knew that he was a good person, but there was no way that we were going to possibly win and he just wanted to ruin it. There was no way we were going to sabotage ourselves like that.

"Rachel thinks-"

"Of course, Rachel thinks we should. Finn, she wants to win. Us telling on ourselves will help her with that," I said. He shook his head.

"But the girls did it too. If we both say we did it, then none of us get in trouble. Everything will be fine," he said. I laughed.

"We'll all get in trouble. But if you want to, then go ahead. It's really up to you," I said. Finn frowned.

"Are you okay? You've been acting weird lately," he said. I laughed.

"I've been acting weird? You've been the one moping around all week. What gives?" I asked.

"I told you guys, I'm just tired. Everything has been on my mind lately, especially Quinn's pregnancy. I just don't know what to do," he said. I shrugged.

"I know even less than you do. I can't get a guy pregnant. Just do what you feel is right. No one really knows what to do in this situation. You just kind of learn as you go. But I wouldn't get too attached. I heard she's giving it away," I said and then walked off before he could ask any questions. I really didn't want to be involved at all, but I had no choice. Still, I really didn't know what Quinn's plan was. The only thing I knew was that the baby really wasn't Finn's and that wasn't going to be kept secret for long and when it came out, Finn was going to be heartbroken.

I know that the story is really going slow right now, but it won't always be. The start is the most difficult and not a lot really goes on in season one. I've decided that my next character will be introduced in Ballads since I have the perfect song for them to audition with. I will also start using songs in the chapter and use one song with every chapter that involves them. I understand how it feels to sit and read song lyrics instead of the story.
