13:30 Monday, 44 Cedar Avenue, Arcadia Bay, Oregon.

Walking along Cedar Avenue, Max is lost in her emotions. Staring down at the ground, she continues to walk towards Chloe's house. Kicking the occasional rock and soda can out of her way, she looked up to see she was two houses away. With a sigh, she stopped at a nearby bench and laid down on it. She didn't want to enter the Price household angry, just in case Joyce or David was home.

Max was livid. Angry at herself for believing that she and Chloe could just pick back up where they were, at Chloe for being so damn hardheaded, at herself for just running away.

But she was also terrified. She was afraid of what she had become, afraid of what Chloe had done, afraid of what happened to their relationship.

She knew that she should have given Chloe the info sooner and she regretted that, but when Chloe grabbed her...

That was when she lost it. Max wasn't an aggressive person, much less someone to lose control of her emotions, but when Chloe grabbed her, she had almost hit Chloe in the head.

It took a lot of effort, but eventually Max got to her feet and walked the rest of the way to the Price home. The house looked exactly the same. Part of the house painted in a fresher coat but the other parts had never been finished. The grass poorly maintained, yet surprisingly greenish. She never realized that the first couple times through this week. The fence alongside the house was rotting in some areas.

Home shit home I guess.

Stepping up to the front door, Max rang the doorbell and waited. Realizing how she looked, Max quickly parted her dyed hair neatly to the side, straightened out her hoodie sleeves, and stood up taller. It wasn't long before she heard footsteps approach the door and she waited, with a smile for good measure, for the person to open it.

"Oh, Hello darling! Are you a friend of Chloe's?" Joyce asked with a gaze that only Max would know the true meaning of: hesitancy.

"Hi Mrs. Price. I kinda am. Do you... do you recognize me?" Max inquired.

Joyce's face scrunched up while she analyzed the girl in front of her. Then the surprise became evident on her face. She gasped before wrapping her arms around Max.

"Can't...breathe...Joyce!" Max croaks out. Joyce quickly released the smaller girl.

"Max Caulfield as I live and breathe! You have changed quite a bit!" Joyce exclaimed with a smile.

Max smiled sheepishly, unknowingly resorting to her old ways of rubbing her arms self-consciously.

"Yeah. I... I went through some stuff and you know...just didn't like what I saw." Max said slowly. Her smile faltered a little before Max quickly fixed it. She didn't want Joyce to bring up what had happened for these changes to happen. If Joyce noticed her smile slip, she didn't show it. Max entered the Price household and walked to the living room while Joyce entered the kitchen to make some coffee. What felt like an eternity but was probably more like thirty seconds, the middle aged woman tried to start up a conversation.

"Unfortunately, Chloe isn't here right now," Joyce called out from the other room, "she's probably putting up more missing person posters," Joyce clicks her tongue before picking up the two coffee mugs and entering the living room. "She knew Rachel in case you were wondering. They were practically inseparable. She was such a nice girl, but good lord, they were both such hell raisers. Boy, if you saw both of them together, you knew trouble was coming. Of course, in this household, I wasn't having any of it and thankfully, I didn't."

After thanking Joyce for the coffee, Max finally told her the abridged, non-time travelly, and not including the Chloe getting physical version of what happened in the truck.

"So, I walked the last two blocks of the way here. And that's about it." Max sighed before flopping back In the couch, tears welling up in her eyes before she blinks them away. Joyce sits down next to her and pulls her into an embrace.

"Oh honey, I'm sorry that happened," Joyce paused, trying to find the right words, "Chloe's known for getting her rage on. I'm not saying that she didn't do wrong, but I think we both agree that she had a few points, as much as it hurts me to say."

Max nodded sadly. "Yeah, I know. I just didn't expect her to get that angry. It was actually kinda scary. I honestly thought she was about to grow an extra head!" Max exclaimed with a chuckle. Joyce grinned and squeezed the smaller girl. After a few minutes, Joyce released Max and stood up to head back to work. After bidding Max a farewell and grabbing her keys, she went out the front door and drove off to the diner. Max, not sure what else to do, stands up and starts to look around the house, trying to find any differences. She's just about to leave the garage when she hears the front door open and slam shut. Retreating back to the garage, she hears heavy footsteps walk their way to the kitchen. The only two people it could be are David or Chloe. Or an intruder.

Max held her breath, not wanting to bring attention to herself. A few seconds of silence pass before the person calls out to her.

"Max I know you are here." Chloe said. "Please come out and talk to me." There's a tangible silence throughout the house. Max hears a small sniffle. "I-I don't...I don't want to lose you too! Not like I lost D-dad or R-" Chloe's voice cracks and Max can hear her taking deep breaths through stifled sobs.

Max wipes a tear away and stands up. She all but runs into the kitchen and jumps into Chloe's arms. Chloe, although surprised by the sudden hug, squeezes her best friend back. They slide down to the floor, still embracing each other.

"Chloe! I-I'm s-so sorry C-Chloe. I-I didn't mean to hurt y-"

Chloe cuts her off. "Max! Just shut up for once. You have nothing to be sorry for. I- I'm the one who should be apologizing. All you went through. All the pain and suffering, the love you gave me, the care you put into my selfish ass, and all I repaid you with was hurtful words and violence. I-I'm so SO sorry for hurting you Max! I'm sorry for ev-"Chloe's rambling is cut off when Max gave her check a kiss. Chloe feels her face flush before looking up at Max. Max's gaze is intense yet kind. The two stare at each other for a second until both girls gasp for breath, neither of them had realized they were holding their breath. They both stand up and gather their senses.

"W-Well Max. I'm not gonna say I hated that but next time, try not to do it just to shut me up, 'kay?" Chloe teased with a wink. Max blushed in response.

"Perv."

"Nerd."

"Jerk."

"Geek."

"Punk."

"You have twice as much hair color and twice as many tattoos as I do Max!"

"That's true I guess. But you can't call me a nerd when your hair is DEFINITELY influenced by your secret love for anime. And before you say it. No, you never told me that before." Max quips with a grin.

"There is ONE thing I never found out though..." Max says raising her fingers menacingly.

Chloe's grin is wiped off her face as she knows what's about to happen. Max lunges for Chloe's sides but Chloe has already reached the stairway and had begun scrambling up them. Max gets up and runs after the taller girl. She sprints up the stairs, reaching Chloe's room just in time to avoid being locked out.

She slips inside and tackles Chloe onto her bed and starts to tickle the girl. Chloe yells in protest, laughing and squirming underneath the red-bluenette's body before reaching out and tickling back. Max squeals with laughter and the two collapse onto the bed with grins on their faces. Chloe glances at her best friend and feels happy for the first time in a long while.
