Chapter 4: Days Passing By

Yu POV

I yawned heavily as the morning sunlight pierced the window of my dorm room. Ugh, too early. Why can't the sun wait an hour? As I sat up and blinked, trying to adjust my eyes to the sunlight, I noticed something directly in front of me.

A TV. Standard size; pretty much the same model from my room when I stayed at my uncle's house. I swore under my breath for not realizing there was a television set in my room the night before. Seriously, how did I end up missing it when Yukari-san showed us to our rooms? I must be blind or something. If I had time before we headed to school... well, no point in worrying about that. I should get ready for school right now.

I slipped my uniform on as fast as I knew how, and stuffed my books in my satchel even quicker. Making a mental note to get a Gekkoukon High emblem for my Yasogami uniform, I sighed and looked at the blank TV. Taking a deep breath I walked over to the screen and tapped it.

Nothing happened. No white ripples, no 'ping' sound similar to metal colliding with metal. I pushed my hand into the screen, desperately seeking a result. And again, nothing happened. It's exactly like when Yosuke and Chie attempted it the day I told them about my experience... the day when we first entered the Midnight Channel.

I slumped to my knees and sighed. Did I actually lose my power? My Persona... was it gone? No, I doubt it. I mean, it wouldn't make sense that I come here with Makoto or Minako to this new world if I was to be powerless. Maybe there was just other place to use our powers? Well, if that's the case, then I should really just wait and see how things play out. Feels like playing a video game or something. All I could do was hope that my power remained in some way, shape or form.

I couldn't wait any longer. I needed to go to school. As I got up, a knock sounded from my door and I rubbed my neck. "Come on in," I said.

The door opened and Minako walked in, beaming a smile. "Morning, Yu-kun! All prepped for school?" she asked. I nodded and slipped my satchel over my head and let the strap fall across my chest. "Sure. Lead the way." The red-haired girl nodded and I followed, locking the door as I left. As we got to the lobby, it was apparent no one else was awake, so I decided to grab some coffee. Wonder if Makoto is awake and just in his room. Should have checked when we were coming down. Makes me wonder why Minako dragged me along instead of him. Minako sat on the couch and decided to strike up a conversation.

I didn't expect her question, and considering I was drinking coffee at the time, it was even worse.

"So... you got a girlfriend in your world?"

I nearly spat out the coffee and my eyes shot open. Thank god, none spilled onto me or the floor, since I managed to miraculously spill it back to the cup. I turned around and took a deep breath.

"Where did that come from? Way out of left field, Minako-san," I tell her. Honestly, we knew each other for like, a day, and she goes and asks if I have a girlfriend? When she did, the image of a certain girl came up in mind, and a faint blush appeared on my cheeks.

She chuckled and fell back into her seat on the couch. "Ok, sorry it was so sudden but since we're friends, I wanted to know! Plus, if we can do this right, then we can change history and maybe head to your timeline. Sooo..." she said, leaning on the couch and gave a sly grin, her eyes narrowed onto me. We were friends already?

Wow, she really is Makoto's polar opposite. While he was calm and primarily silent, she was just... full of energy.

I looked into my coffee cup and downed it as fast as I could. Minako's grin widened, suspecting I was gonna tell her sooner or later... and finally, I cracked like an egg. Seriously, those eyes of hers, just... yikes. Not scary or anything, but just... too much. And besides, she wasn't going to stop anytime soon, that was a fact. Might as well tell her something. I walked to the sign-in sheet and scribbled my name before talking.

"Yes, I have a girlfriend in my timeline," I tell her, not wanting to go too far with what I had to say. I silently prayed that Minako wouldn't ask anything else, but I guess she wanted more info. If there was someone else around, I might have been able to get away from her, but no one is. Wait a sec...

So that's the reason no one else is down here! She got up early to ask this. I prayed even harder that she wasn't making advancements on me. Why was she even doing this?

"What's she like? Ya know, her name and stuff," she continued.

I looked at the ground and sighed. "Isn't that enough info?" I ask, my eyes pleading to her to stop. Minako giggled and nodded. "Yeah, it's fine."

At that moment, everyone descended the stairs and it wasn't a surprise that the rest of them were confused by the fact we were down here. Mitsuru-san called out the elephant in the room spoke. "How long have you two been down here?"

Minako got up and grabbed her satchel. "Just a few minutes," she lied. "You all ready to go?" Makoto nodded and we all headed towards the school.

Minako POV

I smiled to myself, excited about all the juicy info I had gotten from Yu-kun. I was good though. I wasn't going to tell anyone and I was pretty certain he thought I was making advances onto him. He was so cute when he was embarrassed like that.

But what was the purpose? I already have someone I like. Or... at least would, if everything went properly. This was a chance to change things for the better. Couldn't fail this time. My mind kept drifting places as we eventually got to our school.

Gekkoukon High...

I never thought I'd see this place again. I made so many friends here it was unbelievable. To finally be at it's gates one more time... I never thought it would happen. And yet, it did.

The same must be for Makoto-kun as well, because he smiled as he looked at the school gates. I could tell Yukari was telling us stuff, but I didn't listen. Same old, same old. Well, last night showed that there were some changes, but I'm pretty sure that everything'll just be the same. Well, at the least I'm hoping the ending is different.

I was far too happy to be here, the one school that I'd want to attend for the rest of my high school years. As we entered the school, Mitsuru headed off to the Student Council room while Yukari waved goodbye. Makoto headed down to the faculty office while I took Yu to the roster boards.

Yu looked at it and then looked back at me. "This the student roster board?" he asked.

I nodded, before explaining. "Yeah. Just look for your name under the classes that have a '2' above the rows." Yu smiled and scanned through the names, dragging his finger across the rows until stopping. I heard him mutter out each name as well.

"Let's see... Yamagishi, Fuuka... Tushiku, Mira... here it is. Narukami, Yu, room 2-D," he stated. I grimaced slightly and walked over. Sure enough, he was in 2-D.

Ekoda's class.

God help him. Yu-kun seemed to notice I was acting weird and spoke up. "You okay?"

I nodded. "Yeah, just... the teacher in that room is-"

Speak of the devil himself. My jaw dropped as Ekoda was standing in front of the school store, complaining about how today's youth was 'disorganized' and some other crap. Ugh, he is the worst. Why he was never fired, I will never know. Maybe one of the changes this time should be that he gets sacked. Ooh, I would just love that to happen. Yu-kun followed my gaze and I watched as he shook his head.

"As if I didn't have enough trouble with Morooka..." he mumbled, making me smile slightly. Maybe he had some experience with asshole teachers? If that's the case, then maybe it won't be so bad.

... No, it would still be bad. Having experienced one asshole of a teacher doesn't mean that you are ready for them all. Cause in the end, its still an asshole of a teacher. I glanced back at the roster and noticed I was in 2-B; Toriumi-sensei's class. As I turned around, Makoto was coming back with Toriumi-sensei and she looked at the two of us; in other words, me and Yu-kun.

"Ah, you're the two other students. I have your information down, don't worry." I breathed a sigh of relief and went down to the auditorium with everyone else for the assembly.

Makato's POV

I took my seat in the 2-B row and sighed as the assembly began. The dean was so damn boring that watched paint dry would be more entertaining. I could tell Minako and Yu weren't as thrilled either. Having experienced this before once doesn't make this any less boring. No, it just makes it even more boring. Cause I could feel myself moving my lips, mouthing every word that was spoken. After a few minutes, the dean started speaking, much to everyone's despair.

"I'd like to begin this assembly with a proverb," he said. Just like before, only one sentence from him and I want to be somewhere else. "'If a job's worth doing, then it's worth doing well. I'd want each of you to keep this in mind as the year goes on..." I didn't care what he said from that point on, and the person behind me didn't either. He tapped on my shoulder and whispered.

"Hey, I saw you walking to school with Yukari this morning. You two know each other? By the way, does she have a girlfriend?" Right on cue.

I knew that she didn't yet, and if she did, then it would be me. Kind of selfish, yeah, but she meant the world to me. Turning around, I gave a thumbs down to indicate 'no' to which the guy shrugged. "Wow, really? I thought she would. How well do you know her?" Before I could answer, Ekoda's voice hollered in my direction. "I hear talking! I believe it's someone in Ms. Toriumi's class..."

And I believe that you should shut the hell up. I so wanted to tell him that.

The guy behind me fell back into his seat as Toriumi-san looked over and glared. "Be quiet! You're going to get me in trouble!"

I don't know why he's always beating on the people from Toriumi's class. But talking back wasn't the smartest thing to do at the moment. Besides, I'd have plenty of opportunities to get at him. Like Fuuka's disappearance. And with Minako and Yu's help... this was going to be wonderful.

The day ended soon after, and I could understand why Minako was looking around the room. Junpei was gonna come over in a few minutes, and sure enough, he did.

"Sup, dude?" Minako spun around and smiled. "Need something?" I ask the familiar cap wearing guy, that was soon to become one of my closest friends, Junpei. I chuckled slightly and watched as Junpei slumped his shoulders a little. He's here too... seeing him made me remember all the things that we would be doing in the future. In the time of being the Great Seal, I kept thinking how I wanted to relive these days, and I am actually getting the chance to again. Who knew that this day was actually going to come?

"Aw, come on! Let me introduce myself, at least..." The young man adjusted his hat and extended his hand. "I'm Junpei Iori. Nice to meet you guys." We returned his gesture, shook hands, and then he continued talking. "Anyways, I transferred here when I was in 8th grade. I know how tough it is bein' the new kids... so I wanted to come over and say 'hey.' See what a nice guy I am?" Minako nodded and gathered her things as Yukari approached. I felt my pulse quicken slightly but I managed to get it under control.

Noticing us, Yukari sighed and Junpei's face lit up. "Hey, it's Yuka-tan! Didn't think we'd be in the same class again!" Grimacing, she looked at the two of us- me and Minako- and sighed as she finally spoke up "I swear Junpei, you will talk to anyone if they'll listen. Did you ever think you're bothering someone?" Junpei was taken aback. "What? C'mon, I was just bein' friendly." The brunette shrugged and picked up her satchel. "If you say so." These two act like they don't get along, but they were definitely some of the best of friends. They might not expose each other's deepest secrets to each other, but they would definitely guard each other with their lives.

Turning to Minako and I, Yukari smiled. "Funny thing that the three of us ended up in the same class, huh?" she asked.

Resisting my urge of temptation to suggest that it was fate, cause I knew that it was fated to happen, I responded with a mere shrug instead. "It is pretty funny," I responded. Minako giggled but stopped when she looked at Junpei. "Something wrong," she asked. He shook his head and smiled. "No, but I'm here ya know..." Putting on a sly grin, he chuckled slightly as he looked at Yukari and I. "By the way... I heard you two came to school together this morning... What's it all about? C'mon, gimmie the dirt!" Yukari turned slightly red as I just watched. I think Minako smirked a bit but I don't know for sure.

"People are spreading rumors? Don't tell me you started it, Junpei..." The youth shook his head and scratched his neck while Yukari looked at Minako and I. "Listen... you didn't tell anyone about... you-know-what, right?" Minako nodded and I did the same after she elbowed me in the side. Yukari narrowed her eyes and I think some beads of sweat ran down her head. "Seriously... don't tell anyone about what happened last night, okay?"

Oh Yukari, when you say it like that, it definitely makes a lot of implications to those that didn't know what happened.

Junpei's eyes widened in surprise as he almost fell on his back from Yukari's statement. I couldn't blame him, after all. Yukari looked at him and placed her hands on her hips and glared. "What now?" she asked. Junpei turned red on the cheeks and pointed at me, then Yukari, and then me again. "L-last night...? Did you two...?" Yukari turned red and she shook her head 'no.' "Listen! I just met him and Minako-san yesterday! There is nothing going on between us!"

Ouch. That was hurtful. I get that we aren't together yet, but she didn't have to deny that harshly.

Picking up her belongings, Yukari sighed and looked up. "Listen, I gotta go. I have some stuff to take care of for the archery team. See you." And with that, she walked off. Junpei sighed and rubbed his head. "She's so paranoid. Who believes rumors anyway?" His face then lit up as he patted my back and smiled at Minako. "Still, you guys are in luck! Your first day here, and people are already talkin' about you!" Looking in the direction Yukari had departed he smiled. "Believe it or not, she's pretty popular! Pretty smooth, you two." I smiled as Junpei looked at the window and pumped his fist. "This is gonna be a fun year! I can totally feel it!"

'Fun' would not begin to describe how much stuff we'd be doing this year.

Hibiki POV

I had really wished that what happened last night was just a dream. I really did. But nope. I woke up in the same room that that weird guy brought me over. Meaning that everything that happened was not a dream, but really happened. Great... well, if I'm stuck in some freaky world, might as well enjoy it, so I went out and looked around. And before I knew it, the day was passing by.

The red sky signaled the day was nearing it's end as I strolled through what appeared to be a shopping district. People wearing school uniforms walked either to or from stores, or they just strolled through the plaza.

Good ol' afternoon activities.

One store caught my attention, and honestly, I couldn't blame anyone. It was an antique store, and I hadn't seen one in a pretty long time. Maybe they'd have some records or something. Daichi always commented on my collection of music stuff at my house, and even though I had no idea where I was, it couldn't hurt to take a look.

I walked to the door and my shoulders dropped. It was closed, and the sign said it would re-open around June. Checking my phone, I rolled my eyes as it read 4/8. So I had two months before I could see what they had. I walked around the plaza some more, checking out the arcade and karaoke bar, as well as sitting down at a cafe for some coffee. And apparently, time didn't want to wait for me, because once I walked out, it was night.

I really hate time. It never slows down, only speeds up. And because of that, I rarely get to enjoy myself. Checking my phone for the time, I froze. It was already 11:59. A minute prior to midnight.

SHIT!

Without a second thought, I began sprinting towards the house where I woke up. A right turn, a left turn, heading straight... I came out to a street. I grew worried as midnight drew closer by the second. I turned around and ran back, turning right, then left, left again... and then it happened. The sky turned green, and I heard a growl.

Well, piss.

I ran faster than I ever thought possible, making turns at every corner, knocking over objects in a hope to delay the damn thing. And luck was not on my side tonight, because I came face to face with another shadow creature.

I wonder if I angered God one too many times? I was in no time to think, because I was trapped between two of the things, determined to either kill or maim me.

My money is on kill. I closed my eyes and thought of my friends one final time- Io, Daichi, Airi and Jungo, Joe, even Yamato... I'm gonna miss them.

The creatures screamed in gut wrenching agony and the cloaked guy from last night was standing before me yet again. And he didn't look happy. I smiled and laughed to lighten the situation. It didn't work. He glared at me, and boy was he mad. Actually, I couldn't tell if he was mad at all. I mean, how can I when he had that damn hood covering his head with that cloak covering the rest of him? Where did he come from, anyways? Just like last night, he appeared out of nowhere and then saved me. Was he secretly stalking me or something? I really didn't swing that way.

"Why didn't you return to the safe house?" he asked. I looked at the ground and sighed. He told me to return and I tried, but I didn't know where it was. I looked up and shrugged. "I lost track of time. Look, if you want me to, I'll stay there and-"

He shook his head and hid the blade behind his cloak. "No good. Instead..." He tossed me a small chip and I grabbed it, just barely. A little heads up could have been better. "The hell is this?" I asked, looking it over. The cloaked stranger, whose name I still didn't know, took it from me, and then my phone, and inserted the weird chip into my phone.

"It's a special type of phone card that allows this device to work during this time period. I have a map of the area uploaded onto it as well so you can return to the safe house easily." I took my phone back and, sure enough, it turned on. All my apps were still there, including the Demon Summoning App, and a map of 'Tatsumi Port Island' was added as well. I looked at him, my eyes curious with questions. "Um... you have this all along?" I ask him.

He shrugged. "I have free time..." he merely replied. Well, that's good enough for me. Just need him to give me a name to call him. Can't rush that I guess. I can ask him later. "Thanks. I'll head back to the safe house. Later." With that, I was gone.

As I finally arrived at the safe house and collapsed on the couch, all I could think was one thing...

What the hell is going on?

And that's it. No action just yet, but things have to wait before things actually happen.

Well, sorry for the delay in the chapters, but things have been tough and we're busy at times.

Anyways, be sure to review. We could use all the help to make this story surpass the last one.
