"He is smarter than Chase." Adam stated. This caused Davenport to drop the new force field he was developing.
"WHAT!" he screeched.
"He is not smarter…"Chase pouted. "Just quicker."
"How could he do that?" Bree questioned.
"I don't know, but I think it is time to find out," Davenport said. "It's time to figure out what has happened to Leo…"
Chapter 3
It had been a month since I came back and things had been extremely weird around the house. Adam, Bree, and Chase were being very clingy towards me, not to mention Davenport who looked at me like I was an experiment. After the second week I was finally able to leave by myself. Dad had gotten worried until I told him everything. He understood what was going on very quickly.
They know something is up…
"Yes, but I will be careful."
You have to be more than careful. Do not use any bionics unless absolutely necessary. You can't come visit me anymore until everything blows over. Call me as often as possible and be extremely cautious.
After that I hadn't used my any of my bionics nor my extreme smart, not even in class. I had taken to hiding out in the back of the class. If the teacher called on me I would answer wrong, but my grades were through the roof. My teachers actually pulled me aside wondering what was wrong. I admitted to each one that I didn't want to make my brother (Chase) feel bad. Every single one of them understood completely so we came to an arrangement that as long as I got 100% on all my homework they would no longer call on me. I knew that I wouldn't stop the suspicions, but I still felt slightly calmer. This would probably be the last time I would feel calm.
The others rode to school together instead of with me, mainly because I left before they even woke up. This gave me enough to type up a quick , ten page synopsis of the The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald. I had an hour before class as I typed up the paper. As the information flashed through my brain, my fingers typed. I stopped when the information stopped. I looked at my work and saw a complete APA paper. The clock chimed indicated that only fifteen minutes had passed. I printed the work out and left towards my A.P. Literature.
"Leo!" Chase called. I turned to see him walking down the hall with the last person I expected. "Look who came back."
"Hey Leo!" Marcus greeted. The only thing that held me back from decapitating him was Chase.
"Marcus…" If I had the power to freeze molecules, Marcus would be a popsicle.
"Isn't this great?" Chase cheered. Marcus kept his mask of friendship on his face, yet his eyes were challenging.
"It's so nice to be back," Marcus added. "Amongst friends." Marcus shot his hand forward s if to shake my hand.
"I have to go turn in my paper." I brushed past them ,but I felt someone try to stop me.
"Could you show me to our class? Chas had to go talk to Bree about something." Marcus asked. I wanted to throw him through the wall.
"Please Leo, could you?" Chase smiled. I sighed and nodded. I wasn't afraid of Marcus and this was the perfect moment to have a chat. Chase left and I noticed a quick emotion changed. No longer was there a look of friendship, but a smugness.
"Hello again Leo." He said.
"Marcus…" I answered casually.
"Been a long time…." He sneered.
"Yep." I said in a bored tone.
"We need to have a talk." A smile spread across my face and I quickly made sure there wasn't a single person in a 20 foot radius.
"Indeed." In a blink of an eye I had Marcus off the ground by the throat. He looked shocked but quickly recovered.
"Still have bionics I see." I knew he didn't need to breathe.
"Now didn't I tell you that I never wanted to see you here again." My tone lowered and some would say become dangerous.
"I came…" he struggled. "…to make you a deal."
"Not interested." I said throwing him down the hall. I was careful enough not to crack the floor but an unfortunate locker had a Marcus sized dent in it. Without another word he pulled himself out of the locker and ran out. I had a feeling this was just the beginning…
