Mr. Spondrige scene 4

Miss Pearl Lovely leered out from behind a corner. Today was her day. She was going to go see her Sponge if it was the last thing she did. He'd stopped coming to her shows. He wasn't answering her many threatening but heartfelt letters. And she hadn't eaten a box of chocolates for weeks. This had to be fixed. She would make him see just how much he needed her. She stormed into the store. Everyone looked surprised to see her, but no one said anything. Pearl smiled. Her reputation as the former representative of Spondrige's store - and his girl - still carried a little weight around here. Mr. Groves spotted her and tried to intercept, but she was already through the doors of Spondrige's office. "Hello Robert". She said in her deep voice.. She pranced in flourishing her pink feather boa around and came down at his desk with a crash.

Oh! *Gulp* , Pearl, what are you doing here? Spondrige asked nervously.

You haven't answered any of my calls! She cried back at him.

"Pearl…. Miss Lovely, this has to end. You just can't go on stalking me!"

"But, but - I need you!"

"Pearl, we just danced to The Sponge at Lady Loxley's dinner party. That's all."

"You're leaving me?"

"I guess you could put it that way"

"You can't do this to me!" Miss Lovely wailed. Waves of tears flooded from her face.

"Pearl, you're flooding the store!"

"I want jewels!"

"Here, you can have all the jewels. Just take them. " He said throwing them at her from his pockets.

"Thank you Robbie!" She said happily as she scooped them up and pranced off.

Whew. That was a close one, thought Spondrige. It had been the third time this month that she'd come in and threatened to destroy the store with her outbursts, but he'd never had the heart to have her arrested. He just didn't know how to get rid of her. Oh well, he thought. What could come of it? It's just a few jewels.
