Ohmygosh I'm back! I just rediscovered this site for like, the 15th time, and so I'm going to update while I'm on. I'm so sorry that I'm an unreliable author, but honestly life just gets to me, and then I forget and then months go by before I remember. It's a sickness, really aha I think I'm only going to update this story though because I'm honestly in love with it. Although, it's been so long that even I forget what the prophecy is supposed to mean. I guess I'll have to come with a new meaning. If anyone wants to help with that, you can just like, private message me and I would totally appreciate it. All ideas are welcome! Thanks in advance! So without further ado, here is the 4 ¸.•*¨*• •*¨*•.¸¸
"Mitch! Hey," I said, putting the notebook on the floor. I stood up and waved sarcastically, as he tried to figure out where to step next. He laughed and shrugged, looking around at the floor. It was a puzzle in the Hermes cabin. One wrong footstep, you accidentally step on someone's blanket, and you have an enemy for the rest of the summer. And making an enemy of a Hermes cabin member is never a smart idea. The stealthy, conniving demigods would stop at nothing to get revenge.
"Just stay there," I called above the noise of the cabin, "I'll come to you." Normally, everybody would be dispersed throughout the camp, attending different camp activities like rock climbing, sword training or arts and crafts, but with the disappearance of Chiron, nobody knew what exactly to do. Meg had told me that an emergency Iris message had been sent to Dionysus asking him to come back and run the camp. Apparently he had refused, stating that the summer solstice was his only chance to be away from the brats that passed for demigods these days, and that he wasn't giving it up just because Chiron happened to have disappeared.
I started making my way across the cabin but soon came to an uncrossable part myself. If we both reached out, we could've touched each other, but the crowding in the cabin was ridiculous. Mitch made a dramatic face, and threw his hand across his forehead. "So close, yet so far!" He exclaimed. I laughed.
"Just jump!" He yelled to me, "I'll catch you!"
"If you insist," I said, smiling. He was going to catch me? Well, I wasn't about to argue with that. I bent down, and jumped over the belongings on the ground. I landed next to Mitch, and could feel myself off balance. I was about to fall over, and flailed my arms wildly. I accidentally hit a kid next to me before Mitch caught me and kept me from falling. His arms were around my waist, and I decided to be off balance more often. Of course, I wouldn't have to work that hard.
"Thanks," I said, looking up at him. He certainly was tall. Very tall. Very tall.
"So what happened to you this morning?" He asked, "they told me to let you sleep, although I was going to yell in your ear to wake you up."
"Remind me to thank them," I said, sarcastically, "what did you guys all do?"
"Well, I followed our cabin outside, and it was complete chaos. I kind of just stood there while people rushed around, frantic. But I managed to find out that the like, head guy was gone or something." He shrugged, "someone asked Meg if she knew of a camper who was only a fourth demigod, and her eyes lit up. She woke you up, and then you went off with that one red head woman. Then I got to know a couple of the other campers," he stopped talking, remembering. Laughing, he looked down at me, "by the way, we should hang out with the Apollo cabin more often. They're pretty cool people. You would like them."
I wanted to tell him that cool people would never like me, but I didn't want to let on to how much of a loser I was. "Well, okay, you know the red head woman?" I started, but then looked around. Realizing where I was, I decided it would be smart to talk somewhere else. "Hey, can we get out of here?"
"Oh, um sure," Mitch said. He took a deep breath, "we can try."
Eventually making our way out of the cabin, we both shook our heads at how crazy it was in there.
"Why can't they just make another Hermes cabin or something? Like, Hermes part 2?" Mitch asked.
"Maybe that would be disrespectful to the other gods. Trust me, there kind of whiny cry babies when it comes to that kind of stuff." I said. Thunder rolled and the wind picked up. "Well, it's true!" I yelled to the sky. Lighting struck the ground next to me. Mitch met my eyes, terrified. "Don't worry, they can't really hurt me. I'm part of some prophecy."
"You are?" Now he had awe in his face.
"Yup," I said, kicking a stone, "and I have no idea what it means."
"Yeah, I heard prophecies are like that," he said. I laughed. He smiled. I smiled. I imagined us kissing and smiled even harder. Damn, I'm weird. Creepy, even.
"So now I've got to figure it out," I said, looking at the ground so he couldn't see me blushing.
"Well, what is it?" He asked. The prophecy had been permanently seared into my brain, courtesy of me going over it again and again trying to decipher it, so I told him.
"Yeah, I have no idea," he said, after a couple minutes thought, "but I guess this means you'll get to go on a quest."
"Oh gods, you're right," I groaned. I had heard all about quests. They weren't as fun as they sounded.
"I think it would be pretty cool," he said, wistfully.
"Then you can come with me," I said, though I still didn't like the idea of going on a quest in the first place.
"Really?" He asked, incredulously, "we hardly know each other. Not that I'm saying don't take me, but ya know." He laughed nervously.
"As of right now, you know me better than anyone else," I confided, "I'm kind of pathetic back where I come from."
"Well good thing you found me, huh?" He said, linking my arm in his, "now let's skip off into the sunset singing about some kind of wizard who will grant our wishes."
"There isn't even a sunset," I protested, giggling.
"Just imagine it!" He said, closing his eyes. I closed my eyes too, and imagined the sunset. All the different colors in the sky. It was beautiful.
"Hey," I whispered, not opening my eyes.
"What?" He whispered back.
"We're not skipping."
"Oh shoot," he said, "let's change that. On three. One… two… three! Skip!" I started skipping, though with his long legs, Mitch more pulled me along, than me skipping right next to him. I didn't mind though. I was skipping, and that was all that mattered.

Mitch turned out to be right. Later that night, at the campfire, a quest was called. Rachel told the campers that I was to lead it. I accepted. They asked me who my two companions would be. I picked Mitch and then admitted that I didn't know anyone else. A guy from the Apollo cabin offered, apparently one of the guys Mitch had met earlier. His name was Travis. Next, to my surprise, Meg offered. She said she had always wanted to go on an adventure, so she wasn't about to let the opportunity pass.
A bunch of the Ares had offered as well, but I didn't want any of them. I think it was my own personal revenge for the rock that had been thrown at me the day before. And they were just going to have to get over it.
