Hey everyone! Here is chapter four. Hope you all enjoy it. Beta'd by Quartic Moose!

Dick collapsed onto his old bed at the manor, god was he exhausted. What was it going to take to get in to see Danny? If he didn't know for a fact that Danny existed, he wouldn't think he was real. He had gone to Arkham to see him; it was majorly a no go. The warden had sworn up and down that nobody by the name of Phantom was an inmate.

"Oh come on! I know for a fact that Phantom is here. Batman spoke to him only a couple days ago," Nightwing growled.

"I have no idea what you are talking about. There is not now, nor has there ever been, an inmate going by Phantom" the warden explained calmly.

Nightwing narrowed his eyes. "Well what about Fenton then, huh? Come on Warden, we both know that he's here. Just let me talk to him."

A sly smile appeared on the warden's face. "Are you threatening me Nightwing? Wouldn't that be a headline. The hero everyone looks up to turns out to be just another common vigilante like Red Hood. Don't want that, would you Nightwing?"

Nightwing was actually stunned. The warden was actually threatening him. The warden was blackmailing an ex-partner of The Batman?

"Am I hearing you right, Warden? Are you really trying to blackmail a hero that helps put your inmates in Arkham?" Nightwing asked angrily.

The warden stared at him for a moment before saying "You do not scare me half as much as… others. I'll take my chances dealing with you than with the others. Now this conversation is over. Leave or I'll call security."

Vlad had done a marvelous job at making both Fenton and Phantom disappear. Framing Phantom for kidnapping Fenton was smart. Nobody would even start to think that they might be connected even though they disappeared at the same time. Tomorrow was the gala, so hopefully they would be able to get something out of him. He had promptly answered that he would be attending so they at least had a chance. Dick threw his arm over his eyes; he hadn't had such a difficult case in a while. Things in Bludhaven, while hectic and dangerous, were not nearly as bad as Gotham-born cases. It was like the universe had simply given up on Gotham, and threw the forgotten and the unwanted smack dab in the middle of it. Danny, unfortunately, seemed to be one of those people.

They really hadn't found much on Danny; Fenton or Phantom. He had been a perfectly normal kid until he turned fourteen. According to hospital records, Danny had been admitted for getting a slight shock from the newly made portal. Though Dick had a sad feeling Danny had gotten a lot more than a slight shock. A little over a month later, Phantom made his first appearance fighting a ghostly lunch lady who had taken over the school. After that his grades started slipping and he began showing up to class with cuts and bruises; the school had been suspicious of abuse of some kind. Though Dick knew better; it had been from his fights. Dick had a lot of similar wounds, though he hid them a lot better. Though Dick had Bruce as a mentor to teach him everything, all Danny had was a billionaire who was obsessed with him for some reason.

Tomorrow they would try asking Vlad about the GIW. Tim hadn't gotten far with the GIW's security walls. They had gotten some info, but not much. Tim had been successful in implanting a code that would sneak around their security, and if anything was said about Phantom, now or in the future, they would be able to see that. It was mostly for them in case the GIW decided they wanted to move Danny. If the GIW knew that the Warden had let Batman talk to Danny, then moving him was a distinct possibility. That was the one piece of information they had managed to get, his transfer history. When the GIW first got him, they had held him in their main facility for a few months. After that they started moving him all over the place, never staying in a single place long. He wondered why that was.

Suddenly he heard a tiny 'yip'. He sat up and looked around. Was that a dog? It couldn't have been Ace; Ace definitely didn't yip. It had sounded like it was in his room too, and Ace was outside at the moment.

Feeling like a dork he quietly called out, "Hello? Puppy?" After nothing happened for a moment he shook his head. Really it wasn't like a dog could get past all of Bruce's security, somehow get into the house, and make its way to his room.

Deciding that he hadn't actually heard a dog he lay back down. Then he heard it again, this time louder. It almost sounded offended. Dick sat up again and looked to where the sound had come from. His eyes went wide as a small green dog blinked into view, quite literally. One second there was just carpet, the next a small green dog. The dog stared at him, its tail wagging.

"Oh, um, hi?" Dick questioned.

The dog yipped again and trotted towards him. Dick was at a total loss- was this dog an ally or enemy? It seemed nice enough, but looks could be deceiving. He snuck his hand under his pillow and grabbed the bat-a-rang that he kept hidden there. If the dog was hostile, he would be ready. But he was going to try being friendly at first.

Dick cautiously held his hand out. The dog stopped right in front of his hand, sniffed it, then licked it. It hopped up on its hind legs and put its front paws on his knees. Dick saw its spiked collar and name tag.

"Cujo? Your name is Cujo?" The dog yipped in response. Then he saw a small note tied to the collar. He abandoned the bat-a-rang; he wouldn't need it. Then he reached forward and said, "Let me see what you have there, boy."

He picked the dog up and placed him on the bed next to him. Dick untied the note and unfolded it. What was written made him raise an eyebrow; it was interesting for sure:

'Listen up human. I heard you're trying to save the Dipstick. Cujo can help, if you can get past his annoyingness. It's the dipstick's dog so he can always find his master. Oh yeah I'm supposed to tell ya' don't make him mad -E

P.S. he likes to play fetch'

He looked down at the dog. As the only ghosts he knew of – and the only one he was trying to save – Danny seemed like the most likely owner of the obviously ghost dog. "Are you Danny's dog? he guessed aloud.

The dog yipped happily so he assumed that it was a yes. Dick picked the dog up and carried him to the Batcave.

"Bruce, hey Bruce! I found something, can we keep him?" Dick called out. Honestly, he planned on keeping Danny so why not his dog too?
