Jasmine POV
Not good was the only thing running through Jasmine's mind. They had already discussed that they would not be telling anyone about them being a thing for a while due to the fact that they weren't entirely sure what 'they' were yet and, as Lief had pointed out, it was good to take things slowly. He had also said something along the lines of 'Doom murdering me while I sleep' of course, this was the least of her worries at the moment.
Jasmine quickly leapt off Lief and furiously began straightening out her clothes.
"Nothing! We aren't doing anything! I slipped, that's all!"
Beside her Lief nodded vigorously, a weak smile plastered to his face.
"Aaah, the old 'I slipped' excuse huh?" Barda narrowed his eyes in amusement
"Hehe, yeah... wait what?" Lief swallowed nervously.
"Oh come on, even an Ol could tell that there's something between you! I just thought that you-" he gestured at Lief "-would be too scared to say anything and that Jasmine would be too stubborn to ever admit it!"
Jasmine huffed in anoyance looked down at Lief who was still sprawled on the ground
"So...so ...you're not angry?" he asked nervously
"Why would I be angry? I've actually been anticipating...you. Together. For a long time."Barda laughed "I have been under Deltora, to the ends of the earth itself and even to the heart of the Shadowlands and back with you two! It couldn't have been more obvious!"
"I was not obvious!" protested Jasmine quietly, extending her hand to Lief. He took it and smiled cheekily grasping it tight and pulling her back down, where she landed, spread out on top of him. Jasmine giggled and pressed a quick kiss to his lips before turning her attention back to Barda who had his nose wrinkled in disgust.
"I said I was okay with it, I never said I wanted to see it."
"Sorry Barda!" grinned Lief, not sounding sorry at all.
"Well I'll leave you to it then." he said gruffly as he began to climb back out through the tunnel "I have to get back to work unlike someone around here."
"Yeah! Yeah! I'll be out in a moment!" The young king shouted as he pulled his hands through Jasmine's hair, now much smoother ever since Sharn took it upon herself to introduce it to a brush.
Barda just sighed and brushed aside some matted vines "I won't wait up then."
"Thank you. Oh, and Barda?" Lief said, a mischievous glint in his eyes
"What?" he growled in annoyance
"Lindal was looking for you"
"She is?!" Barda was suddenly very excited and what may or may not have been a light blush crept up his neck.
The two teenagers shared knowing looks before collapsing into fits of laughter
"Talk about being obvious" Jasmine whispered.
Thank you all so much for reading! My apologies for this chapter being so dialogue heavy and short.
