Title. Odette

Disclaimer. Naruto and all its characters belong to Masashi Kishimoto. If I owned them I wouldn't have to slog this hard at a desk job for money. ;w;

Summary. A story of love and courtship set in the medieval times. She fell for him at first sight, which amused him to no end, and her reactions when he courted her was far more entertaining still. SasuHina. M rating for future sexual content.

AN. This might get a teensy bit steamy, and a lot of sweet and fluffy :p

To those of you who have asked for a lemon, it unfortunately won't be in this chapter, but it will be reallllyyyy soon /coughnextchaptercough/ cuz i didn't think that a girl as innocent as Hinata would have a relationship that progresses too quickly. However, I'm not so naive as well to think that nothing will happen, so there will be a little action in this chapter ;)

Warning: some citrus involved!

A kiss is a lovely trick designed by nature to stop speech when words become superfluous.

Chapter 4 - Kiss in the hay

18 years old

Sasuke Uchiha sat on an armchair in the main hall, impatiently drumming his fingers. The Hyuugas were due to arrive for their autumn visit today, and to Sasuke the time seemed to stretch on while waiting for their arrival. When they were children, meeting his playmate every few months had seemed sufficient. But now, having months of separation between the times he got to meet his girlfriend was unbearable. He was starting to consider making occasional trips to Byakugan in between their usual visitation periods despite the 3 day journey. Being able to see Hinata and be with her would make the travel more than worthwhile.

After being away from his girlfriend for more than 2 months, Sasuke's arms were aching to hold her in his embrace again. His fingers were itching to brush her bangs out of her eyes, and his lips to feel her full, plump lips against his own. He forced himself to stop as his thoughts began to turn south. He could not welcome the Hyuugas when they arrived with a bulge in his pants. Hiashi would probably have his head on a stick.

Sasuke leaped up from his seat as a servant informed him of the Hyuugas pulling up to the castle before scurrying off to notify the rest of his family. Sasuke fixed his face back into a mask of indifference instead of fidgeting in restlessness and pacing in front of the door as he really wanted to do. Standing stock still near the entrance, he smoothed down his clothes and hair as his parents and Itachi swept into the foyer. "My my, someone's impatient." Itachi murmured as he slid over to stand next to Sasuke, throwing him a knowing smirk to which Sasuke returned a poisonous glare.

The doors opened and the Hyuugas strode in. After the customary pleasantries were exchanged, Sasuke opened his arms to envelop Hinata in his arms, and she happily snuggled into his embrace, wrapping her own arms around him. As she smiled up at him, Sasuke marveled at how far she'd come, from fainting after he'd kissed her for the first time in the library 2 years ago, to being able to withstand some of the more… intimate things they now did. After taking their leave of the others, Sasuke took Hinata to one of the many sitting rooms in the castle and instructed a servant to begin setting up tea and cinnamon rolls.

As they waited for the tea to be set up, Sasuke pulled her closer to him. He took hold of her chin in a gentle grip, running his thumb across her full lower lip. "You're so beautiful…" He murmured, before leaning down to incline his forehead against hers. Dropping his arms to hold her gently by the waist, he pressed soft sweet kisses onto her lips. She smiled serenely at him when they broke apart, and Sasuke was suddenly overcome by a surge of warmth in his chest. He buried his face into the crook of her neck, inhaling deeply as he pulled her body flush against his. She hesitantly reached up to stroke his hair. Surrounded by her warmth and the subtle sweet floral smell of her perfume, Sasuke felt the feeling ebb a little, allowing him to relax his grip and sigh into her hair.

"Sasuke…?" Hinata questioned softly.

"I don't see you enough." Sasuke croaked, voice gruff with emotion. "I miss you too damned much." Hinata coloured prettily and smiled, touched by the unexpected display and admission of affection. She patted his hair lightly before stroking it softly, letting him soothe his anxiety by feeling her in his arms, her pulse beating against his, and breathing in the scent of her hair and perfume. Collecting himself, Sasuke cleared his throat awkwardly and sat back up, straightening in embarrassment. Hinata simply smiled at him gently, and turned to pour the tea. She knew he hated looking vulnerable, and lightly changed to topic to their plans for the summer.

The shone brightly down on the 2 heads of dark hair as Sasuke and Hinata made their way to the stables. When there, Hinata made to ask a stable hand to help her saddle a horse when Sasuke's voice firmly informed the boy that one horse was sufficient. Hinata looked to Sasuke in surprise, who coloured slightly and adverted his eyes, mumbling that they could just share one and it would be less troublesome. Hinata giggled. Sasuke was surprisingly becoming more affectionate, showing her a side to him she never knew he had. Throughout the years of her childhood when she had nursed her steadily growing feelings for him, she had never thought he would see her beyond their friendship, especially with the way he used to tease and bully her about her blatant affections for him. She had been content simply to be by his side, glad that their friendship was strong and not made awkward by her feelings for him. And now, knowing that Sasuke returned her feelings, she couldn't be happier.

Sasuke helped Hinata up onto his horse, Chidori, before hoisting himself up behind her. After adjusting themselves into a comfortable position, Sasuke nodded to the stable boy, took up the reins to the horse, and soon they were off galloping across the meadows. Hinata laughed brightly, her pearlescent eyes shining with mirth as they bounded over the green grass. Many a times in their childhood, Sasuke and Hinata had spent riding horses. There was nothing quite comparable to the freedom they felt flying across the fields on the back of their horses. It was almost as if they had wings.

Sasuke slowed the horse down to a trot as they came to the edges of the woods. Hinata sighed contently and leaned back against Sasuke, laying her head in the crook of his neck. They sat in silence, taking in the clomping of Chidori's hooves on the dirt, the chirping of the birds in the trees, and the chattering of other small animals scurrying about. In that moment, being right there with each other, and beautiful nature all around them, the world couldn't feel more perfect.

The sun had long passed its zenith by the time Sasuke and Hinata returned. As they dismounted, Sasuke waved away the stable boy and led Chidori into his stall with Hinata trailing after him. He took pride in his horse, and liked to spend time just bonding with him or grooming him. Sasuke and Hinata groomed him together many times in the past. As Sasuke hauled in a bucket of water, he cast a glance at Hinata, who was brushing out Chidori's mane, petting him and humming to him as she worked. Chidori nickered, and nudged his nose closer to Hinata, leading her to smile and rest her head against him as she wrapped her arms around him for a brief moment. Sasuke's heart swelled with pride at seeing his prized stallion and his beloved approving of each other, and had to turn away before anyone caught the sappy expression on his face.

Crouched down by the horse's rear legs, Sasuke continued to scrub down Chidori, before he suddenly felt droplets of water pelt his face. He turned to the direction of the water in shock, only to see his girlfriend giggling and drops of water falling from her hand. Acting on reflex, his hand skimmed the surface of the water to send a spray towards Hinata, who squealed and jumped away to avoid getting hit by the water. In doing so however, she accidentally knocked over the bucket, causing Sasuke to be doused with a faceful of water. Sasuke's eyes narrowed as he wiped the water from his face, and Hinata's widened impossibly huge in apprehension.

"S-sa-sas-wait, Sasuke, I-I-I I didn't mean it, it was an accident-" Hinata didn't manage to finish her sentence as Sasuke slowly drew to his feet, a menacing aura rolling off him in waves. She squeaked and dashed out of the stall in fear, running as far as she could from the ominous figure chasing after her. She twisted and turned around the corners, trying to shake of her pursuer while looking for a place to hide. Ducking into an obscure corner of the barn, she looked wildly around the area for a place to hide, but the stall had nothing other than a pile of hay in the corner. The sound of Sasuke's stomping boots grew louder behind her as Hinata saw him turning into the stall. Panicked, she dashed away from towards the pile of hay in the opposite corner out of instinct. Unfortunately, it was then that her clumsy feet decided to trip over themselves. Falling over, the hay softened the impact, but Hinata could feel the dread creep up on her at the growing pressure she felt nearing. She turned to see Sasuke looming over her, his face dark and marred with a heavy scowl. Hinata squeezed her eyes shut in fear as Sasuke pinned her down against the hay. She waited for the verbal lashing or the punishment to come, but after a few moments of no movement, she cracked an eye open to peek at Sasuke. He was hovering over her, breathing heavily from the chase, and his eyes were burning intensely into her, swirling with an emotion that made her afraid and her spine tingle with excitement all at the same time.

"Sa-Sasuke?" She whispered. "W-Wha-" Hinata's words were cut off as Sasuke's lips came crashing upon hers in a searing kiss. His mouth swept across hers, tongue dipping into her mouth to draw her tongue into dancing with his. Sasuke pulled Hinata into his rhythm, her head swirling and incoherent of thought by his open mouthed kisses. Hot lips moved over heated skin, burning a path across her jaw and down her neck. Hinata whimpered and squirmed as Sasuke's tongue swiped across her collarbone, tasting her hungrily and sucking lightly at the delicate skin there. Her breasts pushed against the bodice of her dress, suddenly feeling too tight and constrictive. As Sasuke's fingers skimmed the neckline of her dress, the feeling jumped by tenfold. A hand slipped beneath her and worried at the laces, loosening the ties there.

As the dress slipped lower, Hinata's breasts spilled over into Sasuke's waiting hands. Molding them in his hands, Sasuke tongue swirled around a rosy hardened nipple, and Hinata's back arched with a cry. Sasuke suckled on the nipple in his mouth as his hand slid down towards her legs, bunching her skirts and chemise up around her hips. He rubbed a finger over her weeping slit, causing Hinata to cry out again, her body twisting and her hands rose to cover her red face. Sasuke flicked his tongue over her nipple as he continued to rub his finger along her slit. Then, he dipped his finger past her moistened lips and into her. Hinata gave a sharp cry of surprise and grabbed Sasuke's arm in panic, shaking her head frantically.

"Just a little bit," Sasuke breathed. "Just a little bit. I won't go any further than this." Hinata trembled for a moment, then balled her fists against her eyes and turned her head away in acquiescence. Sasuke watched her face as he slid his finger in and out of her, rubbing and curling against her insides. Hinata twisted and squirmed in his grasp at the foreign, overwhelming sensations, mewling cries escaping unbidden from her throat. She gasped and clutched at Sasuke's arm. "Sa-Sasuke-kun. No, please… I can't…It's too much!"

Sasuke slowly removed his finger, his breathing harsh and laboured, and his groin throbbing painfully in his pants. He looked down at Hinata, flushed and beautiful, and the desire to take her then and there was unbelievably strong. However, he would never force Hinata to do anything beyond her wishes, and he would never want to make her cry. Taking a deep, shaky breath, he reined himself in, and dropped his head onto her shoulder. "Sasuke…?" Hinata called in a wavering voice. "I… I'm sorry…" Sasuke lifted his head, laced his fingers through hers, and smiled at her, as warmly as he could. "It's okay, Hinata. I…"

"I love you."
