A/N: *Sigh* I'm terribly sorry guys. I had to do something that I didn't think I would ever have to do. I had to remove someone's review. I don't mind if you guys don't review at all or give me the boring and generic, 'Nice chapter can't wait for the next one.' Because both of these are accepted. It tells me that I'm on target and I'm doing well on the fic, and I thank you guys for that. But… I received a review last week that is unacceptable. It is as follows
Jay
You make Clementine n Keith act alot older than they are.
I have a 8 year old sister and and 11 year old sister and they r best friends. The children in ur fic r unrealistic at times.
To me, this person didn't give a shit of how hard I worked and decided to nitpick something so irrelevant out of the story. To counter his argument, I believe that children can grow up faster if they are in a hostile environment.
I don't expect reviews or anything when it comes to my stories. All I want to do is show my own creativity of The Walking Dead game and give you guys some form of entertainment. I just want to see some views on my stories. That's what I really like, but I can't tolerate nitpicking. Any further nitpicking of any of my stories will result in that review being deleted. It's alright to voice your own opinion, but don't go after me on something that is very irrelevant.

Keith pushed the needle through Clementine's skin as she yelled in pain and blood poured out from the incision. "I'm sorry! I'm sorry!" Keith exclaimed over Clementine's pained screams. He kept inserting the needle through her skin a couple more times to make sure the stitching would hold; all the while he kept apologizing to Clementine who was whimpering in pain. Keith also noticed out of the corner of his eye that Madeline was curled up in a ball and her hands were over her ears. She was scared. Of course, Keith couldn't blame her. It also didn't help that Madeline was scared of needles.
Keith finally finished and tied off the thread. Clementine panted as tears fell from her eyes. She wiped her eyes with the sleeve of her shirt. "I'm sorry, I went as fast as I could." Keith said. "I had to make sure that the stitching would hold."
Clementine looked up and smiled, despite the searing pain in her arm. "No, I'm glad you helped me. Thank you Keith." Clementine huffed. She finally caught her breathe and stood upright.
Meanwhile, Keith turned to Madeline and approached the eight year old. "Maddie, it's okay now. It's over." Keith said as he uncovered her ears. Madeline nodded and looked over to Clementine. The eleven year old showed a smile to calm Madeline down. The eight year old smiled back and Keith headed back to the workbench.
"Let's wrap that arm up and then-" He couldn't finish his sentence. Clementine suddenly fell forward, but she grabbed onto the workbench to avoid falling to the ground. She yelped in surprise as she looked back to see a walker was holding onto her right foot. It used the same opening that Keith and Clementine made to escape the shed.
Keith was shocked to see the walker get into the shed and Madeline yelped upon seeing the creature. The corroded wood crumbled against its undead body and it pulled Clementine to the ground. It climbed on top of her as she kept it at a distance with her legs, but her strength was failing. A combination of hunger and exhaustion left her with minimal strength.
Keith shook his head to regain his focus and he charged at the walker with his pocket knife in hand. He stabbed it at the top of the head as the doors to the shed opened. "Holy shit!" Luke said.
"What the…?" Alvin exclaimed. Keith grunted as he finished the stab into a slash. Part of the walker's decaying face splattered the wall next to him. He looked back to see Madeline helping Clementine get up. The three turned to the group at the entrance of the shed.
"What the fuck? How did it get in there?" Alvin inquired.
"These kids are tough as nails." Pete said.
"Are you three alright?" Luke asked with concern in his voice.
Clementine built a scowl which surprised Keith and Madeline. The girl was always kind and reasonable, but this time, her hazel eyes shot daggers at the group. However, Keith felt that she was justified in doing so. "I am still. NOT. Bitten. I never was." Clementine said. "And you left us out here to die." Keith nodded in agreement as the group members stood feeling uncomfortable and remorseful with the exception of Rebecca who crossed her arms over her chest and returned the glare.
Luke looked down to her arm and his eyes perked up with curiosity. "You patched yourself up…?" Luke said.
Nick looked to her arm and a scowl formed on his face. "Where'd you get that stuff?" Nick inquired. Talyne was behind him. She placed a hand on his shoulder to calm him down which seemed to work. Nick's glare disappeared and he breathed out a huff.
"Did they steal from us?" Rebecca inquired.
"This doesn't change a thing. They haven't done anything to us." Pete said.
"Says the one not carrying a baby." Rebecca snapped.
"That has no relevance!" Keith snapped. He was also frustrated with the group's incompetence. "We came to you guys for help, but all you did was try to get us killed!"
"Boy, you don't snap at me." Rebecca snarled. "I will…" Rebecca started to approach the boy in a threatening manner until Talyne placed her hand out in front of the pregnant woman.
"Rebecca, I think you have done enough. Go back to the house." Talyne said.
Rebecca turned her glare to Talyne and she exclaimed, "How dare you! You think you can tell me what to do-!"
"You are not helping the situation!" Talyne exclaimed. "You've been nothing but a bitch all day!"
"Back the fuck off!" Rebecca shouted. "And if you call me that one more time…"
"You'll do what? Huh?" Talyne inquired as she crossed her arms over her chest. "Try to kill me… well good luck with that. I don't die easily. Haven't any of you figured that out yet?"
Alvin walked to Rebecca's side and said, "Baby, I think what Talyne is trying to say is that things are a little stressed right now and she doesn't want you to worry about something like this. You're going to need all of your energy for the baby."
"Forget it." Rebecca snarled. "I get the point." She then stormed off toward the cabin. Alvin released a sigh before he followed her.
"Listen for what it's worth, we're both sorry that we took the supplies, but you left us with no other choice." Clementine said.
"She's right. Clem would have died if we did nothing." Madeline said with a frown.
A scowl formed on Carlos's face before he went into the shed to gather the supplies from the house. "Bring her in and I'll have a look at her arm." Carlos said. After gathering the supplies, he walked out of the shed and toward the house. However, he stopped and sent a glare toward Keith and Madeline. "But they stay out here." Carlos said.
"What!" Luke exclaimed.
"Shit, Carlos, it's going to freeze tonight! They can't stay out here!" Pete exclaimed.
"I don't want them anywhere near Sarah." Carlos said. "Carver has done enough to ruin our lives. I don't need these two demons going in that cabin and torturing my daughter."
"Hey! They're just a couple of kids!" Talyne exclaimed.
"Yeah, you need to chill out." Nick said.
"I don't care what you think is right or wrong. We are doing this to keep ourselves safe. They are not just children. They are evil and they will say and do whatever to hurt us. Bottom line, they stay out here." Carlos said with a scowl aimed at the group.
A few moments passed until Talyne spoke up, "Okay, they'll stay out here, but I'm staying with them."
"Tal, don't." Nick said.
"Don't worry about me, Nicky. I'll be fine." Talyne said with a smile.
"I have no problem with that." Carlos said. "Personally, I think you should be in the shed all the time anyway."
Nick turned to Carlos with a scowl and he snapped, "What the fuck is your problem?"
"My problem is that the enemy is with us." Carlos said. "We have Troy's sister with us and two of Carver's kids."
"Hey, Talyne is also my wife and you're going to have to accept that." Nick said as he glared at the doctor.
"Nick, it's okay. I need some space anyway." Talyne said. "The last couple days have been pretty tense." She almost sounded defeated.
Nick looked back to Talyne with a worried look until he heard Carlos speak again. "Either way, I don't care about your marriage. In fact, I think your marriage was the greatest mistake you have ever made and that's saying something."
Nick gripped his fist, and in one quick motion, he turned back to Carlos and punched the doctor as hard as he could. The unkind doctor fell with a grunt and had a swollen cheek courtesy of Nick. "Enough!" Pete said as he got between his nephew and the foreign doctor.
"Call my marriage a mistake ever again, and I'll kill you. I don't care if you have a kid and I don't care if you are the only one who can bring Rebecca's baby into this world. I hate you." Nick said with an intimidating glare aimed at Carlos. Keith knew that Carlos deserved that punch, but it still caught him off guard. Clementine and Madeline were also surprised by what happened.
Luke approached Nick and placed his hands on his shoulders. "Nick, we're all a little stressed right now. Carlos is just getting a little defensive for his daughter. You can't blame him for that."
"So that gives him the right to insult those kids, my wife, and my marriage? Fuck that!" Nick snapped as he turned to Luke.
"I stand by what I say." Carlos said as he got back up. "In the end, Carver will find this place with the help of those kids and your so-called wife." Before Nick could respond, Carlos turned around and headed to the cabin.
Pete looked to Nick and said, "You did good, son. Never let another man get away with insulting your wife, but for the sake of Rebecca's child, don't go too far, okay?"
"Yes sir." Nick said. A proud smile formed on Pete's face and he hugged Nick. They separated and Pete went to check the perimeter. Nick turned back to Talyne and approached her. "Be safe out here." Nick said to his wife.
"I will, babe." Talyne said with a smile. She leaned in and kissed Nick. The two were caught up in the moment with Talyne having her hands on Nick's cheeks and standing on the tips of her toes. Nick had his arms around Talyne and held her close to his body.
"Yo, married couple, we got kids nearby." Luke said which broke up the moment between Nick and Talyne. Both separated from each other and blushed. It's like as if they had forgotten where they were.
"Sorry." Talyne said to the three children. She turned back to Nick and said, "Stay in the cabin tonight and keep an eye on Clementine. I'm afraid of what Carlos and Rebecca will do to her."
"Yeah… you might be right." Nick said. He turned to Clementine and he said, "Come on, I'll cook you up something to eat and then we'll hit the hay."
However, Clementine was reluctant to go with Nick. She turned to Keith and said, "I should stay in the shed… with you and Maddie. You both risked your lives to save mine today."
"No, you have to go inside. You haven't eaten anything for a while and you'll need every bit of your strength to get better." Keith said. "We'll be fine out here."
"He's right, sweetie. Go with Nick; he'll look after you tonight." Talyne said. Nick nodded in confirmation and gave her a weak smile. Clementine turned back to Keith and looked deep into his eyes. She didn't move for several seconds which turned into minutes.
Finally, footsteps were heard approaching Clementine and an arm was placed on Clementine's back to move her forward. "Come on, we need to get inside." Nick said. The eye contact broke between the two children and Clementine started to head for the cabin with Luke and Nick close behind her.
"Come on, Keith." Talyne said to the boy as he watched Clementine's retreating form. He finally shook his head to refocus and went inside the shed where Madeline was waiting. Talyne closed the doors to the shed and sat down near the door. "Are you both alright?" Talyne asked Keith and Madeline. "I'm sorry that the group left you out here like they did."
"It's okay. We weren't really expecting a warm welcome anyway." Madeline said. The girl smirked and said, "So, you and Nick are married, huh?"
Talyne smirked and she said, "If you must know, yes… we are married."
"Well, I'm glad for you both. You seem really happy." Madeline said.
"Thanks sweetie." Talyne said. She looked over to Keith who had been rather quiet. All he could think about was Clementine and how he felt for the girl… What was wrong with him? He had never had the strange feeling in his gut before and he has met many girls in his lifetime. "Earth to Keith… you still there." Talyne said.
Keith shook his head and he looked to Talyne. "Uh what?"
Talyne's smirk grew and she said, "Keith, what's wrong? You seem pretty absent-minded."
"I… um… just been a long day." Keith said with a nervous smile.
"I hear you on that." Talyne said with her smirk gone. "Let's get some sleep."
"Yeah, that'd be a good idea." Keith said. He watched his younger sister approach Talyne and saw her get on her knees in front of Talyne.
"Can I… Can I cuddle with you?" Madeline asked.
"Of course you can sweetie." Talyne said. Madeline had a smile on her lips and she sat down on Talyne's lap. Keith knew that Madeline liked to cuddle a lot, but he never would have thought that the girl would have cuddled with someone that they barely knew… still Talyne did defend them from the group and she was married to their former babysitter… so she wasn't a complete stranger. Talyne hugged the girl on her lap before she looked up to Keith.
Keith got the hint and went to Talyne next. He sat down next to her and leaned on her while Talyne wrapped an arm around him. Keith closed his eyes and a smile formed on his lips. Talyne was just like Erin. Both were caring and motherly individuals. Soon, his body relaxed and Keith started to fall asleep.
Inside the cabin, Carlos was looking at Clementine's arm as she looked toward Nick. He was to be the person to look out for her tonight, but she still felt nervous. Meanwhile, Luke paced around the room with a bit nervousness and anxiety. The tense atmosphere was broken when Clementine felt a jolt of pain.
"Ow." Clementine said as she jumped from the sudden pain.
"Hold still." Carlos hissed at the girl.
"How's she look?" Luke asked.
"Hmm… well, I'd say she should be fine." Carlos said as he looked to Luke.
"So it wasn't a lurker bite?" Luke asked.
"If it was, the fever would have already set in and her temperature would be through the roof." Carlos replied.
"Alright then." Luke said.
"Clementine and I need to talk for a few minutes in private." Carlos said to the two men.
Nick crossed his arms over his chest and sent a glare to the doctor. "Don't do anything you'll regret." He stomped out of the room with Luke close behind.
After they left, Clementine inspected her arm and Carlos went to look out the window with a disgruntled and angry sigh. "I wish you wouldn't have done what you did." Carlos said with an angry tone in his voice.
"I was hurt and you weren't helping." Clementine said.
"Because we considered you a threat which you were." Carlos replied. "Maybe you still are."
"No, I'm not." Clementine said.
"Either way, we know that Keith and Madeline are in every way a threat." Carlos said.
"Keith only wants to help. He is not hostile. And Madeline is just an innocent little girl who has been through a lot… we've all been through a lot." Clementine said. She was trying to reason with the doctor, but it didn't seem to be working.
"We put you in that shed out of the safety and concern of our loved ones. And then you and those… those monsters escaped and convinced my daughter to steal from us." Carlos said as his voice got more bitter and angry.
Clementine glared at the man and said, "Don't call Keith and Madeline that. They have been put through as much as you have."
"Oh really? You think he has been through as much as any of us have?" Carlos inquired as he turned from the sink and went toward Clementine. He had an intimidating glare aimed at the girl.
"Yes, I do." Clementine said.
Carlos released a sigh and he said, "I'll give you the benefit of the doubt this time but there are a few things that you need to know about my daughter."
"Okay." Clementine said.
"She isn't like you." Carlos said. "You may not get that initially but if she knew what the world was really like out there, she would… cease to function. She's my little girl and she is all I have left. And I would ask that you would stay away from her."
Clementine looked down with a frown and she said, "Carlos, I think what you're doing is one of the nicest things a father could do for his daughter. I sometimes wish my dad would still be around to do the same for me, but you can't baby her all the time. You have to at least show her how to use a gun."
Carlos turned to her again with a glare and he said, "Shut up! How dare you think that you know what is best for my daughter! Rebecca was worried that you, Keith, and Madeline were working with someone else. That you being here was no accident, and I believe her. You are not to be trusted." Carlos walked towards the door and looked back to Clementine and said, "Stay away from my daughter or there will be serious, probably fatal consequences."
He then stormed out of the room leaving Clementine in a daze. She had never been threatened in that way before. Would Carlos be willing to kill her if she got too close to Sarah and what would he do to Keith and Madeline? She was brought out of her daze when she heard footsteps from behind her. "Hey uh… brought you some food if you want it." Luke said.
Clementine looked to Luke and Nick with a smile and the three went to the table. Luke presented a bowl of oatmeal as her meal and she started to eat while Luke and Nick sat down. "So what was that between you and Carlos? He seemed to be really upset when he left the room." Nick asked. "Is everything okay?"
Clementine stopped eating and she said, "I just told Carlos that he shouldn't baby Sarah as much but that was enough to set him off. He said he doesn't trust me, he thinks Keith and Madeline are monsters, and he said that if I get anywhere near Sarah that he might kill me."
Luke and Nick jumped in surprise. Nick's face warped into anger almost immediately. "That fucker… I'm sick of this Luke. Let's just kick him out."
"It's not that easy, Nick. Carlos is the only one of us who can deliver Rebecca's baby and he has a daughter. We can't take that away from Sarah." Luke said. He looked to both Clementine and Nick and continued, "Listen, Pete and I will talk to him. If anything, I think he is on edge about Keith and Madeline being here. He probably didn't mean it." Luke then looked to Clementine's arm and said, "That's going to leave one helluva scar."
Clementine recalled Pete's original proposal to take her arm off and she replied, "Better than losing it."
"You can say that again." Nick said. "Scars are way cooler than stumps."
Clementine perked up at the mention of having a stump. It brought back painful memories and both men could see it in her eyes. "Hey, you alright?" Nick asked
"Uh… yeah, it's just that... I had a friend who lost his arm once." Clementine said.
"Oh, did he… make it?" Luke asked. Clementine shook her head before she went back to eating her oatmeal. "Oh… I'm sorry to hear that."
"I guess we've all had it rough out here." Nick said. He had the look of loss and remorse traced in his features.
"What happened?" Clementine asked with a remorseful stare.
Nick sighed and said, "I got my mom killed." He looked down with a frown and his eyes were glued to the table.
"That's not what happened and you know that." Luke said. He turned back to Clementine and he said, "We took in some people and one of them was bit. We thought we could control it… but we couldn't. And she turned and Nick's mom was standing right there and she got attacked. There was nothing we could do about it."
Nick huffed and looked back up to the eleven year old. It was obvious that there was something that plagued his mind. "So what about you? What happened to your parents, if you don't mind me asking?"
"Yeah… I mean, I assume what happened to them is the same as what happened to almost everyone's parents." Luke said. "You're just so young… didn't think you could have made it on your own for so long…"
"They… They're gone." Clementine said as she placed her spoon in the bowl of the oatmeal. She sighed before she continued, "They went on vacation and left me with a babysitter, and they never came back. We went to Savannah to try and find them, but they were already dead."
Nick hummed to himself and had a sympathetic glance on his face. "That's brutal. I can't imagine how that felt. I lost my mom recently, but… that doesn't really compare to what you went through."
"It… gets worse. The man that I mentioned before… the one who lost his arm… was my guardian… He took care of me a couple days after this whole thing began, and I lost him that same day." Clementine said with a frown on her lips.
"Huh, he must have been really something." Luke said.
"He sounds like an amazing man. Maybe you should stay here with us for a while." Nick said. "You'll probably need time to let that wound heal up."
"What about Keith and Madeline?" Clementine asked.
Luke sighed before he shook his head. "It's hard to tell right now. They might have to stay in that shed for a while. The group's really tense, but once things have calmed down, we might let them out." Luke said.
"It doesn't feel right." Nick said. "We shouldn't keep them in there like prisoners."
"I understand and I feel you." Luke said. He released a sigh before he continued, "I don't feel right about this either." Nick looked down with a frown. He must have been thinking about his wife and the children in the shed.
Silence fell among the three for several minutes. Luke seemed to be deep in thought and would look to Clementine every couple of seconds. He was trying to figure out if she was trustworthy or not. Clementine had received that stare many times from scavengers, bandits, and even her own friend. Clementine continued to eat but she would look up every once in a while. She didn't know the two men well enough to trust them, but they seemed okay so far. Nick kept a constant stare outside. His frown and worried look remained.
The silence ended as Pete entered the room. He had a hunting rifle in hand, and he looked to the three at the table. "I hate to interrupt but I'm out there standing watch and can't help but notice that this place is lit up like a beacon in the middle of the woods." Pete said to the three. All three were brought out of their trances and looked to older man at the doorway.
"Yeah, it's time to turn in anyway." Luke said as he got up and left the room.
"Get your winks in while you can, cause we're leaving at first light." Pete said as he looked to Clementine and Nick. "A couple of fresh brookies for dinner? Mhm, wouldn't that be nice?"
"Yeah, I'll go but maybe it's best if Clem stays and gets some rest. I mean she just showed up and she's probably exhausted." Nick said.
"Don't worry about me. I'm fine." Clementine said.
"See. Told you she's as tough as nails." Pete said.
Nick smiled and he said, "I guess you're tougher than you look. Alright." Nick got up and left the room as well. Pete stayed for a couple of seconds as Clementine smiled to the older man. Pete smiled back before leaving.
Clementine turned back to her bowl of oatmeal. She finished eating as Rebecca opened the door to the kitchen. "Oh, you're still here?" The pregnant woman asked.
Clementine replied with a nod and Rebecca skulked her way to the sink. Rebecca began to clean some of the dishes and she said, "I wouldn't get comfortable if I were you. You may have fooled the others but not me." Her voice was laced with bitterness and suspicion.
"What are you talking about?" Clementine asked.
"Don't play that bullshit. I am not my husband." Rebecca said.
"All I needed was some help. That's all." Clementine said.
Rebecca leaned in with an intimidating scowl and she said, "Well, you got what you came for, so just go. You are not wanted here and you are certainly not needed here."
"…Nick and Luke said that I was allowed to stay until I was better." Clementine said in a desperate attempt to diffuse the situation.
"We make decisions as a group, so I wouldn't take anything they say to heart. I know you can't be trusted and soon everyone will know." Rebecca said. She stood upright and stomped out of the kitchen.
Clementine sighed and looked out the window. "Keith, Maddie, please be alright." Clementine said. She didn't know why she felt so attached to the brother and sister. Was it because they were the first kids that she's seen in a long time or maybe it was because they were really nice? Either way, she trusted them and that's all that mattered.
Morning
Pete was walking down a trail that he and the other cabin members have used to get to the river. Clementine followed behind him, consumed by thought. She couldn't stop thinking about Keith's and Madeline's safety and the danger that Rebecca and Carlos posed to her and the brother and sister. Pete noticed that the girl was starting to slow and asked, "How are you holding up? I heard you got an earful from Rebecca last night. Once she gets going, there's no bringing her back. Her bark is worse than her bite."
"What's her problem?" Clementine asked.
"She has a lot on her mind lately, with the baby… and well, Keith and Maddie showing up yesterday didn't help either." Pete replied. They walked over a door that acted as a bridge before Pete looked behind to see Clementine. She was worried about Keith and Madeline. She knew Talyne wouldn't let anything happen to them, but she was worried about what Rebecca and Carlos would do to them. "Don't worry about Keith and Maddie." Pete said. "I gave them and Talyne some breakfast this morning. They seemed to be holding up pretty well."
Clementine immediately smiled toward the older man and said, "Thanks for doing that."
"It's the least my group owes you after everything." Pete said. "Well these fish traps shouldn't be that far from here. I'm just wondering where my lazy-ass nephew might be." However, Clementine wasn't completely paying attention. Instead her eyes looked to his hunting rifle. She adjusted her gaze to look up to Pete who was staring at her with a smile. "Did anyone ever taught how to shoot? And I mean shoot proper. Any idiot with a finger can shoot." Pete said
"Yeah but not a rifle." Clementine said.
"Well that makes sense, something like this would probably knock you down on your ass." Pete said as he walked through an opening in the fence. Clementine followed as Pete continued, "Nick was about your age first time I took him hunting." Pete stopped as he continued to explain the story. "We came across this beautiful 13-point buck just standing there on the ridgeline." Pete brought the rifle up as a demonstration of Nick holding it and continued, "The boy takes up the rifle... lines up the shot just like I taught him… then I hear him start whinin. He turns to me and says, 'I can't do it. I can't shoot it Uncle Pete. Please don't make me shoot it.'"
"Really? No way." Clementine said with a giggle.
Pete smiled until he could hear his nephew, ""Hey!" Nick exclaimed as caught up with the two. "Why didn't you wait?"
"You want us standing around while you're pissing on a tree? You know where the river is boy." Pete said. He turned back to Clementine and continued with the story while the three walked down the trail toward the river. "Anyway, I grab the gun out of his hand before the big buck runs off, when BANG! The gun fires. The boy nearly gut shot me. And of course the buck gets away." Pete said.
"Come on, Uncle Pete!" Nick exclaimed.
"What?" Pete asked with a playful smirk on his face.
"You know that story is embarrassing. It's bad enough that you told Talyne about it." Nick said with a smirk forming on his face.
"Son, you gotta realize that I am your uncle and an uncle's job is to irritate and embarrass his nephews and nieces." Pete said.
"What? Since when?" Nick asked. Clementine's giggling started to increase. She hadn't seen a joking comradery like this in a long time.
"What do you mean since when? It's always been my job." Pete said.
"I thought your job was to yell at me every time I make a mistake." Nick said.
"Okay, I actually have two jobs." Pete said as Nick rolled his eyes.
"So, anyway where was I?" Pete asked. He hummed for a couple of seconds until he snapped his fingers and said, "Yes, now I remember. I came across that buck later that season. I shot it right in the neck. Brought it up to my sister's figurin she'd wanted to freeze some of the meat. Nick didn't speak to me for weeks."
"What did you expect?" Nick asked. "That was downright embarrassing."
"Oh come on. It's not the most embarrassing thing I've done to you." Pete said. "Remember when I picked you up with your mom's car?"
"Oh my gosh. Don't even remind me of that." Nick said. "That was easily the most embarrassing day of my life."
"How'd you think I felt? I had to drive around in it all day." Pete said with a chuckle. The two laughed from the whole scenario as Clementine's giggling subsided. The girl couldn't remember the last time she giggled and laughed so much.
"I see the river up ahead." Nick said as he looked toward the end of the forest. There weren't as many trees ahead and it appeared to open up into a clearing. "…Holy shit…" Nick muttered. The young man ran ahead which made Clementine's smile fall. Something must not have been right.
"Nick… wait up." Pete said. He ran to the river as well with Clementine close behind him. "Nick?" Pete said as he and Clementine arrived at the river. Nick stood still; he didn't acknowledge Pete or Clementine. Pete and Clementine could see what frightened Nick, and it wasn't good. "Oh, my stars and garters." Pete said as he looked around the area. Clementine's eyes widened and her jaw dropped. There were bodies everywhere along the river bank.
…To be continued.
