*AWKWARD SILENCE AS THE AUTHOR TRIES TO EXPLAIN THEMSELF*

I'm terribly sorry about my disappearance for like months! I could give you a THOUSAND explanations why I didn't update in so long but in the end they will all still be lame excuses... I'm so so so so so so so so SORRY! But to be honest, the main reason is I'm a terrible author and you all shouldn't continue reading this... TT^TT actually... it was because I was lazy and that led to other chaotic problems like writer's block because laziness is the mother of all bad habits and problems... But it's still a mother and should be respected lol jk X3 anyways... hopefully I won't go into another bipolar depression because of it :P

Disclaimer: I do not own own Durarara! and any of it's characters or the doujinshi. If I did, then what would be the point of this fanfic? I'LL JUST MAKE EVERYTHING CANON IF I WAS THE OWNER but I'm not XD All rights go to their rightful owners.

Warning: Shizaya in later chapters (boy x boy) Don't like, don't read (this is like the 4th chapter why are you still here if you don't like yaoi XD)

Izaya continued to fly off far away from his previous location. The night sky glowed pleasantly in the midst of the stars that illuminated the forest as the trees were rustled by the soft fluttering of the wind. It was around five in the morning and the sun would be coming up soon again.

An old worn-down castle came into view from the horizon, giving it an eerie and ominous setting in the vast wooded landscape.

The vampire flew over to an open balcony and went inside. The room was ancient looking as if it once was a great kingdom that ruled an unknown country that was torn apart by war and tyranny. Izaya walked over to the dusty bed and plopped down on it's surprisingly still comfortable mattress.

"Uwah...that was close..." Izaya sighed relieved that his previous escapades with a certain blonde hunter didn't go any farther and threaded his slim fingers through his silky locks of hair.

A soft knocking echoed in the empty room as two pairs of glowing red eyes peered through the small crack from the opening of the door.

"Iza-nii... Is that you?" A high-pitched voice spoke as both twins walked in to greet their older brother, "We were worried you know. You didn't come home on time and you made Kuru-nee scared!"

Izaya looked over to the two pouting faces of his little sisters, Mairu and Kururi. He gave a sheepish smile and rubbed the back of his neck, "Oh yeah... Sorry, I ran into some unwanted 'problems' while I was hunting."

"Problems... (What problems did you run into?)," said a short haired raven girl with an emotionless face. She wore a cape similar to Izaya's, except it was a hooded cape with the hood kept down that had a small blue jewel where it was clasped together to keep the dark fabric in place. She also wore knee-high leather boots, a white frilled blouse, and a black plaided skirt with a white ribbon adorning on its side. Mairu, her sister, wore the same cape that was held in place with a red jewel and the same pair of boots, a black frilled blouse, and a white plaided skirt with a black ribbon on its side. She had long hair that was made into a braid and round glasses on her face.

Izaya lied down on the bed and breathed tiredly, "I just had a run-in with a hunter again, nothing much," he lied, purposely excluding the part about his rather vulgar acts in the aftermath of the 'run-in' and turned onto his stomach to face them, "What did you two do all day?"

Mairu perked up and exclaimed loudly in a cheery attitude, "Kuru-nee and I hung around the master bedroom most of the day since it was light out and mostly stayed inside like you told us."

Kururi nodded beside her.

"I see. Well, that's good to hear. Did you guys eat?"

"Ya, we went into the backyard and caught some animals. Don't worry, we didn't kill them..." the atmosphere suddenly became solemn and heavy before Mairu spoke again, "Hey, Iza-nii...Why can't we go outside like you? Why...why do we have to stay hidden?" she asked quietly.

Izaya turned his head to the side, facing a wall, and sighed, "Mairu, I already explained this to you when you were still little. Unlike me, you guys don't need to drink human blood to survive. I do. It's also dangerous out there and if you stay hidden hunters weren't go after you. They'll go after me since they believe I'm the last one of our kind."

"But we're older now! We can defend ourselves now! You taught us to."

"I taught you in case I disappeared one day, not so you can recklessly get yourselves killed."

"We won't get ourselves killed! Also if we go out you won't be the only known vampire and why don't you just turn people into vampires if you you don't want to be called the only one?" She questioned.

Izaya face turned stern and dead-panned,"Mairu, let's not talk about this anymore. Please? You know you guys have to stay hidden. We can't make more vampires because isn't it already enough that we're taking blood from them and no one, not even hunters, should be given such an unsightly fate like us. This is a curse that we'll just have to bear. So that means Mairu, Kururi, you'll be the only ones left."

Kururi spoke, worriedly, "Only...ones... (What do you mean only ones?)"

"You know my life is tied to a fate that'll end one day... But you two can continue to live peacefully in the castle without me."

The twins looked at their feet as they let it all sink in, " You mean in this place forever?" Mairu spoke softly.

Izaya nodded and turned to lay on his back, staring at the ceiling, "I think it's time you two went to bed. The sun's almost coming up," the suggestion was said in a tone that it sounded like a command that was not up for discussion.

The twins knew this and turned to leave to head to their sleeping quarters. They opened the door and before Mairu stepped out, she spoke in a serious tone, "Iza-nii, isn't a life that lives without doing anything the same as a slow death? One that feels incomplete, short-lived, painful, and deprived of many qualities and experiences that we could have had? Even if we are unfortunate, shouldn't we make the best of it?" She left and shut the door before Izaya could answer her even though it was a question, the truth within the statement was something that no one was suppose to respond to.

Izaya continued to lay on the bed as the morning sun began to come up from the horizon. He yawned. It had been a long night. His eyes slowly drifted close as he fell asleep.

Well... I ultimately failed at life right here. Hahahahhahahaah... *emo corner* I'm sorry if this was out of character... And I apologize again for being a terrible author and you should stop reading this shi-

Izaya: You know it was very cruel of you to just leave us hanging here~

Chaos: I wasn't done with my explanation yet... why are we in the postscript already?

Izaya: Because I'm God and I'm always in control and I still can't believe you did that to your readers! Even I'm not that mean~

Chaos: I said I was sorry ;_;

Izaya: And you thought that was even close enough?

Chaos: I'M SORRY! SORRY! SORRY!

Izaya: Ya, you better be! I was stuck in this postscript with Shizu-chan for god-knows-how-long!

Shizuo: Damn flea! What' wrong with being stuck with me? You're lucky you're still alive! And stop picking on the author, I'm sure they are their own reasons.

Chaos ;_; You're too kind Shizuo-san...

Izaya: HAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHHAHAHHAHAHHA we'll see how long the author can last~~

Chaos: ;_;
