CHAPTER 4 - NOT A DATE

Cameron's head was reeling No, deep down I actually thought he had to have some sort of feelings for me, anything, it didn't have to be as strong as love but something like a crush or at least attraction, I never once thought he would be here with another woman making out. If House can move on so can I. I cannot let him see me cry.

Gina stepped back but kept her fiery gaze straight on Cameron.

Cameron walked in and sat on the chair Gina once occupied.

"Sorry but I just had to get out of there, everyone down there is just here to complain about their lives", Cameron gave a small smile keeping her voice steady while staring at House. She felt the opposite inside.

House was actually amazed at Cameron. She had just seen him and a strange woman making out and acted like it was no big deal; like if she wasn't even there.

"Who is this?" Gina said in a tone that was obviously of one who was annoyed.

"This beauty is Allison Cameron, she works for me and has a thing for me as well", he smirked at Cameron, and he looked at her and noticed she was blushing.

"House, I don't have a thing for you"

"Anymore", she said in a softer tone.

She felt her words come out in lies but had said it all in a confident tone; she didn't care if House believed her or not because she wanted herself to believe it first but she didn't.

Cameron looked up at Gina, "So who are you?" Cameron felt weird using the same tone Gina had used.

"I'm Gina, I actually came down here to talk to him...Alone", she stressed the last word.

"Really? because it didn't seem you were talking" Cameron at once wished she hadn't said that, she had never been so rude before. She immediately apologized. Gina looked at Cameron; if looks could kill.

House sat back, his face like an 8 year old boy watching two robots fight with machine guns.

"I'm sorry, but really I didn't come here looking for trouble, I came to talk to House but I guess I came at the wrong time", she looked a bit sad.

"Yeah you did", Gina said almost leaning on House, but straightened up in a quick move.

"Gina, you said you went to go pick up your little brother" House rolled his eyes at Warden who was now standing in the doorway.

"What is this? The party is downstairs people!", House was now getting annoyed.

Gina was searching her mind for some sort of excuse, "I, I...", she had none. "I'm sorry Warden", she said bowing her head slightly.

"Well this is your last warning I want to see you at the bar in 5 minutes and we'll need to talk", he said looking from Gina to House as he stormed off.

"Who was that?" Cameron said, confusion painting her face.

"That would be Warden, Gina's boss, who also has a thing for the people they work with", House looked at Cameron.

"Well I better be heading back down, which means that I will stay there the whole night seeing as Warden won't let me out of his sight for the rest of the night", she looked at House, "hope to see you at the bar soon", and with that she smiled a soft smile, leaned forward kissing House quickly on the lips, and quickly walking away.

"It was just a goodbye kiss Cameron don't get jealous" House said with a pout.

Cameron rolled her eyes.

She stared at him, he caught her gaze and she looked away quickly noting the silent awkwardness.

"So House", she looked at the desk instead of at him "are you really going to see her again?" she felt like an idiot for saying that.

Some seconds passed and she finally looked up.

"Why do you care if I do or don't?" House smiled at her.

"It's just a question House; you do know that not everything has to have a huge secret meaning behind it"

He smiled and looked up at the ceiling.

"Well I like her she's cute but I have kind of lost interest in her, I think she's just using me to get me in bed", Cameron smiled; secretly happy at the answer he had given her.

She watched as House grabbed the remote control turning on the television smiling as Man Crusher rolled over the smaller truck. She looked through her purse and smiled at the 2 objects she had in her hand.

Cameron stood up and walked to the television turning it off, House frowned but then his face turned to surprise when Cameron opened her palm.

In her hand were 2 tickets to tonight's Monster Truck Champion TRUCK SHOW the game where all trucks of many states would be at tonight to win the 50,000 dollars award.

"The show starts in an hour and I came here hoping you would want to come with me, seeing as last time you invited me, I wanted to do the same", she smiled at him.

He was speechless.

"So what is it, want to join me?" she smiled; not noticing she was holding her breath.

"Without the date part right?" he asked looking up at her as he remembered the last conversation.

"Yeah, sure", she said in a bit of a soft voice, too soft she thought and frowned at herself.

House got up and grabbed her hand pulling her to the farthest elevator in the back of the hospital.

"House the elevator in the front was closer", she said finally free of his clutch.

"I know but we can't go that way, Cuddy will obviously see me and won't let me leave till 1am sharp", he frowned.

"Then won't she notice you aren't here at 1am sharp?" Cameron said mimicking him.

"Oh but this is so worth a week of clinic duty", House said admiring the tickets in his hand.

Cameron smiled, she was glad they were going together even though it wasn't a date, but for some reason she sure wanted it to be one.
