Molly woke up. Her ears were ringing and her head hurt. She was in a white bed, in a stark white room. The walls were white tile and head of her the wall looked like white plastic with little boxes. Molly looked around. She felt panicked. Why?
Then she realized. She couldn't remember yesterday...or even before she was in this bed! All Molly could remember was her name...her age...and that was it.
Molly saw a door and ran for it.
"AAHH!"
"WOAH!"
She collided with someone. Someone bigger than herself and male. Molly looked up into brown eyes, a bowl cut and an admittedly handsome face. Actually, a very handsome face. Despite this, Molly held up her arms and had her body in a fighting stance.
"Hey, I'm not going to fight you," The stranger said, his hands up in a peaceful gesture.
"I don't know where I am, I barely know who I am. I want answers now!" Molly tried to throw a punch to the man's stomach, but he caught it.
"I can't give you any answers because I'm in the same situation you are. Calm down and maybe we can both figure this out," He said, "Starting with,
what's your name?"
"Molly. Molly Callum," Molly relaxed her posture and tried to stay calm.
"I'm Remy LeBeau. Nice to, uh, meet you I guess," Remy said.
"Remy...that's kind of pretty," Molly said.
"Now, let's just walk until we find someone," Remy said.
"You're not the boss of me," Molly griped, but started walking anyway.
"How do you know? All I can remember is my name and my age and you can too. For all we know, I could be your boss in another life. Or you could be mine if that's how you want to play it."
"...You're flirting with me," Molly ran a hand back through her hair.
"Well, I do remember the basic things about life. Like where babies come from and such. What a date is. How to flirt," Remy said.
"Take it easy, okay? For all we know, we could be related!" Molly said.
"I hope not!" Remy's eyebrows shot up.
"Why's that?" Molly smirked.
"Well...you're attractive. I don't think that's the case. We look nothing alike," Remy said, "Besides, if I had a sister, she'd probably be taller than you, little one."
"_Whatever_. Let's just keep walking," Molly said.
They came to the end of the hallway and there was a large white French style door in front of them. It opened and they stepped through it cautiously.
Inside, the room was huge. Again, all white. It was laid out like a big cafeteria with tables and chairs and a food station. Nearest to them was a table occupied with people, kids around Molly's age, she guessed. All white, all healthy looking. A tall boy with brown hair and red sunglasses. A pale girl with a white streak in her hair. A thin boy with black hair. The other two were a beautiful girl with long red hair and a petite brunette. All of them were eating the same thing-some green goo, oranges, and a thick white liquid.
"Hello," The redhead got up from the table and greeted them, "I'm Jean. It's, uh, nice to meet you."
"Remy,"
"Molly,"
The others quickly introduced themselves.
"So what is this place. Where are we?" Remy asked.
"We really have no idea," Jean said, "But there's food if you're hungry."
"I'm hungry, but I don't feel like eating. I don't like this. I can't remember anything about me and you guys can't either. Isn't that bad?" Molly said.
"Relax. We're safe and well fed," Kurt said, "It's better than nothing."
"I think I'd rather start looking for a way out of here," Molly said.
"I'm with Molly," Rogue said, "Let's ditch this zoo and find a way out."
"Let's all eat first and then we can talk about it," Scott said, "Can't do anything on an empty stomach, right?"
"Who died and made you the leader?" Remy said, looking slightly annoyed.
"Me? I'm not the leader of anything. I'm just trying to bring a little order to our ragged band of misfits," Scott said.
"Speaking of, I wonder why we're the only ones here. This place is huge," Kitty waved a hand around.
"Maybe we're the first of something," Jean said.
"Question is, is that a good thing or a bad thing," Molly said darkly.
The kids ate, then as soon as she was finished, Molly stood up.
"Okay, let's go."
"Wait," Remy said, "Why don't we just relax a minute, get to know each other a little."
"Oh, hey, I'm Molly. I only woke up knowing two things about myself. Nice to meet you, now let's GO!" Molly said sarcastically.
"You're girlfriend's persistent," Kurt said under his breath.
"She's not my girlfriend," Remy said with a smirk.
Everyone got up and followed Molly out. There wasn't really anything else to do around this place, as far as they could tell, so why not look for a way out? Or at the very least, some answers.
The walked a short time, then Molly stopped them.
"This place is one big circle. We're back at our rooms already."
"Well, nothing left to do but sleep then," Kurt stretched, yawning.
"We're not sleeping," Scott said, "Everyone fan out. Feel the walls, feel the floors. There has to be an exit somewhere."
"Yes, Oh fearless leader!" Kurt smiled.
Everyone started looking, but there was no exit anywhere. After almost three hours of searching,
they gave up and went back to the cafeteria for lunch. This time orange goop, an apple and the same thick white liquid waited for them. They ate quietly and soon finished.
"Should we try again?" Molly wondered.
"It couldn't hurt," Remy said.
"...I guess," Scott said with a small sigh.
They tried looking again, but got nowhere. They went back to the cafeteria for dinner, but Molly really did find herself not hungry this time. "I think I'll just go back to my room now," Molly said,
turning around.
"I'll come with you," Remy said, standing, "You know, for company."
"Are you sure that's allowed?" Molly smirked.
"There's no one around to stop me," Remy replied.
They went inside Molly's room and sat on the bed.
"So, what now, little one?" Remy smiled. There was warmth in his smile and...almost a familiarness about it.
"Ugh, will you _stop_ calling me that?" Molly threw her head back, rolling her eyes.
"Okay, beautiful," Remy reached out and rubbed her neck.
"AHH! You're _not_ supposed to touch me like that!" Molly scooted away.
"I'm sorry. I'm not sure why I did that," Remy looked apologetic, "I'll try to keep my hands to myself."
"Well...I didn't not like it," Molly said quietly, "But still, it's not really appropriate."
"Of course," Remy smiled kindly.
"Anyway, I'm not sure what to do now," Molly played with her hands, "I'm not tired enough to sleep.
There's nothing to do in this room."
"Oh, I wouldn't say that," Remy walked over to the grey cement looking wall and pressed on it. A rectangle panel pushed in and two panels came out to reveal a large screen TV. A small box popped out, revealing a remote.
"I checked out my room thoroughly earlier. Guess you didn't? Could do with some popcorn, maybe some DVD's," Remy sat back down, handing the remote to Molly.
"Chocolate chip cookie dough bites," Molly said absently.
"Hmm?" Remy said.
"Candy. Chocolate chip cookie dough bites. I know about those...somehow. Maybe they're my favorite?" Molly said.
"Maybe," Remy said. He went to put an arm around her, then stopped, "Uh, sorry."
"I don't know, Remy. Maybe...maybe you were my boyfriend before. You're sure acting like it," Molly blushed.
"Perhaps, but I was thinking that any one of you girls could be my girlfriend," Remy beamed,
"Jean and Rogue, total knock-outs."
"Well, Scott could be my boyfriend," Molly countered.
"I really hope not. There's something about him I don't like. Even if we haven't all known each other long, I have to say I wouldn't wish that guy on anybody," Remy wrinkled his nose.
"Let's just settle in and see what's on," Molly got comfortable, leaning against the short, rounded headboard. Remy did the same. Their legs were touching, even if they weren't snuggling. (Why did Molly want to snuggle with him?) Eventually they settled on watching some old black and white movie. After a while, Molly found herself yawning quite a bit.
"Guess it's time to hit the hay then, huh beautiful?" Remy got up from the bed, pulling the blankets over her.
"Yeah. You know...if you sleep on the floor...I'd like it if you stayed," Molly said, "I don't want to be alone tonight. P-please."
"Me neither," Remy said, "I'll be right back, my dear."
Remy came back and settled in on the floor. "So, dear, would you like a bedtime story?"
Molly laughed for the first time all day.
"Sure, why not."
"Hmm, let's see..." Remy started spinning her a tale about roguish thieves and brave heroes.
An unlikely boy and girl falling in love. A kiss.
"And everyone lived happily ever after," Remy finished, "Good story, dear?...Beautiful?"
Remy edged himself up to see Molly sound asleep.
