Guys, I am so sorry that it took me so long to write this chapter. It was really hard for me to continue writing since I didn't really have motivation to continue. Thank you so much for all the positive reviews! Here's the fourth chapter y'all, enjoy!

Caroline woke with a loud gasp, her throat demanding air as it quickly filled her lungs. She sat up as she coughed and choked like she had been drowning under water the whole night, but her throat felt terribly dry. Gently, she rubbed her throat to relieve some of the thirst she felt. So thirsty. But she pushed the thought away as she realized that she was on her bed, settled between a sea of vastly large pillows and a cape covering her body.

She touched her neck, but realized there was no wound or presence of a bite from the night before. Her mind reeling the events of last night, she realized that she was now in transition to become a vampire.

She could see that she was still in the same dress that she wore last night to the party, had it always been this uncomfortable to wear? Her eyes frantically searched around the room, noticing how awfully bright the sun was and instinctively shielded her eyes from it. She groans when she hears a loud and piercing ringing in her ears. Gradually noise was coming from everywhere. She could hear men shouting, horses neighing and silverware banging loudly. Caroline could not understand where all the noise was coming from. She shut her eyes and covered her ears in an attempt to block the noise out, but for some reason they were all coming at the same time. She wanted to scream.

Her eyes flew open as a pair of hands grabbed her wrists.

"Caroline!"

She opened her eyes to see Klaus' blue eyes staring at her, hands holding on before releasing his grip on her wrists. He looked completely disheveled and alarmed, as if he had not slept at all. Where had he come from? She had not seen him, but noticed the entrance to her room was open. Caroline noticed that his scent was strong, smelling of sweat and his breath smelling of wine. She could practically smell the panic seeping out of him. The scent was enveloping her whole body and it was making her dizzy.

When she did not reply, Klaus tilted her chin up with his fingers to examine her. "How are you feeling, love?" his worried tone was beginning to make her anxious.

"Completely irritated," her voice cracking as the words left her mouth, frowning at the way it sounded and she cleared her throat. "I hear so many things: the trees rustling, the maids gossiping, the church bells ringing."

He couldn't help but sigh in relief.

"So, this must be part of what developing into a vampire is? Going mad? Will I be able to hear animals talk now?" She asks him earnestly.

"No," he chuckled lightly, trying his best to suppress his amusement.

"Klaus, this is no laughing matter," she crossed her arms in front of her.

"I know. My lady, this is normal as you transition into a vampire," he explained, "Your sight, hearing, smell, it is all heightened when you become a vampire. Your strength."

"I see," she wondered why she was hearing so many things.

"Also," he brushed the hair away from her shoulder and touched her neck where he had bitten her the night before and Caroline had to stop herself from shivering at his touch, "this is gone because your body is now healing itself."

Caroline nodded in return.

"I've almost forgotten," he added, "let me show you something." Klaus dug through his pocket to reveal a silver ring with a deep blue accent stone and a diamond in the center of the stone. It was beautiful. Klaus passed it to her and she didn't hesitate to take it.

"That," he pointed at her hand, "is the first thing you must know about becoming a vampire. We cannot walk in the sunlight—" it was necessary to inform her of this, knowing how much she enjoyed being in the sun, he did not want her running off and becoming a ball of fire under it, "—without that ring."

"It is a daylight ring and you must wear it at all times, Caroline. I warn you, without this, you are powerless during the day."

Nodding, she quickly placed it on her left index finger, looking up at Klaus, who gave her a nod of approval to give it a try. She held it up so that the stone shone in the sunlight. It was pretty. Caroline had researched and researched all about vampirism, read books and heard stories but nothing compared to experiencing being one. Or at the most transitioning into one. There was much more she had to learn.

The ring was nearly a distraction but when she felt her throat beginning to dry up again, she turned to Klaus, who was watching her. "I-I'm feeling parched—"

"You need blood," Klaus responded almost immediately. Blood was what she needed in order to become a vampire.

He did not wait for her to reply as he walked towards the doors of her room and peered outside. He found Bonnie Bennett waiting and she briskly walked into the room spotting Caroline on the bed.

"Bonnie!" Caroline's face lit up, glad to see her best friend again. She hadn't seen her at the party all night and was a bit worried that something may have happened to her. With all the events and chaos of last night, she did not have a chance to check up on her friend. She was relieved to find her safe and sound.

"Hello, Caroline," Bonnie grinned and Caroline ran up to her friend, hugging her tightly as if it were their last. Resting her head on her neck, Caroline breathed in Bonnie's sent, a sudden urge to eat rushed through her and Bonnie's neck became incredibly tempting, her vein pulsing loudly in her ears. Her teeth began to grow, making Caroline flinch and quickly backing away from Bonnie. She reached over to her teeth, feeling the same fangs she touched on Klaus last night.

"You said I needed blood," she looked at Klaus and he only looked at Bonnie in return, "no, no, I cannot—" she shook her head wildly, trembling as she did her best to suppress the hunger. Caroline pushed Bonnie away who stumbled back and the dread rose in her chest knowing exactly what was to happen next.

"Caroline, it's alright," Klaus comforted her, pulling her arm, but she jerked away at his contact.

"Do not touch me, Klaus. It is not alright, not Bonnie," her eyes were filled with rage. She looked to her best friend who's face was full of concern and back to Klaus who's calm demeanor angered her even more.

"Caroline, please, everything will be fine. I have agreed to this," Bonnie smiled at her best friend in an attempt to calm her, but instead Caroline felt a bit weary. Her eyes shifted to Klaus, her eyes filled with anger. For whatever reason, she could not control her emotions. Tears filled her eyes as she threw herself against Klaus.

"You must have compelled her, Klaus!" she sobbed loudly. "How could you?" Caroline wildly slapped his chest, her tiny hands completely powerless against him.

"That is absurd. I cannot compel her, Caroline," he reminded her, "she is on vervain."

Vervain was an ancient herb that the royal family grew in their kingdom. For centuries, they drank this herb to prevent compulsion from any Original, any vampire, an agreement that the council decided so that they had complete trust between the family. Caroline also drank this as she was part of the royal family. If she was taken captive and used against the family, she could not be compelled to tell secrets.

"How on earth will you compulse her to forget the pain, then?" she cried.

"I won't need it Caroline," Bonnie interrupted. "I am willing to do this for you. You are my best friend and my sister, I cannot trust anyone else to turn you. If it is anyone, it will be me." She looked at Bonnie's eyes as she saw determination in them, taking Caroline's hands in hers for comfort.

"It will be alright, all you need is a bit. It will burn, but I will bear it."

"I am so sorry Bonnie—" she sobbed, pulling her best friend's hands over her face, the veins continuing to reveal themselves on her face. Bonnie hugged her in return, pulling her hair away from her shoulder and arching her neck to her.

"Caroline, it will be fine. Here, you must drink in order to complete your transition," Bonnie caressed Caroline's face, soothing her as she pulled her towards her neck.

"Are you absolutely sure, Bonnie?" Caroline sniffed, finally accepting the fact that this was the only way to complete the transition.

"Yes Caroline, there is no need to worry," Bonnie laughed, "Klaus will be here to stop you if need be, and do you really think I would let you die?"

Caroline shook her head knowing what would happen if she had refused blood. She turned to Klaus who gave her a small nod to proceed.

"Alright then," Caroline was still unsure, but leaned into Bonnie's neck anyways.

The vein throbbed and Caroline could practically hear the blood pumping under her skin. She could feel the hunger clawing back inside of her, her teeth growing once more and the veins under her eyes visibly forming. Noticing just how much the thirst was taking over her need for control, she grabbed Bonnie and quickly sunk her teeth into her neck, pleasure coursing through her as the blood flowed into her throat, feeling fulfilled for the first time in the few hours of her life as a human in transition. She could hear Bonnie's muffled groan and Klaus spoke words to her that she could not hear. The guilt quickly left her chest as she continued to drink more, pleasuring coursing through her as she could feel herself finally turning.

A gust of wind gently blew the ends of Caroline's dress as she ran through the field, her hair blowing in the breeze and the grass tickling her bare feet. There was a feeling surging in her chest, an absolute wildness and recklessness she had never felt before. Happiness was flowing through her as she burst into a fit of giggles and those giggles formed into an uncontrollable laughter she could not help but release. It was as if everything was coming all at once.

Her feet were moving on their own, faster than her mind could predict and before she knew it, she had ended up from one part of the field and into the forest. She did not know how she had gotten there, but she did not care. She had never felt as liberated as she had at this moment. Everything was so clear to her now. There was a power surging inside her, a feeling of certainty and satisfaction. Caroline was free.

Trees in the forest covered every part of the land, swallowing Caroline into it. The sunlight barely streaking into the forest, peeking at Caroline and hitting her ever so slightly. There were large ancient trees, lush and green, and new trees, slowly growing brown and small. She heard birds chirping, snakes hissing, and dogs barking. The smell of the forest was engulfed in a strong scent of pine, pristine after rain had washed it.

A rustling in the shrubs alarmed Caroline's pleasant state of mind, feeling a presence behind her, she twisted around to look. Her eyes scanned the forest, but there was no one in sight. She listened closely as she heard a twig crack in the distance. Running towards the sound, she still found nothing, but when she found a large silhouette in the corner of her vision, she quickly ran to it and slammed it against a tree. Hoping to intimidate them, she exposed her fangs, eyes red and veins blue, her vampire instincts taking over once more.

But she realized that it was only Kol where his wicked smirk rest on his handsome face.

"Hello, darling," he smiled, reaching over to twirl a curl of her hair in his finger.

He didn't seem threatened at all by Caroline's new abilities and it bothered her. Laughing with determination, she pushed him harder against the tree, pinning him with her hands as the rough bark grated his skin. She mimicked his smirk, proud of the new found strength she owned as she challenged the Original brother. But being much older and sufficiently stronger, it wasn't long before Kol had her pressed against the tree, a surprised shriek escaping her lips.

"I heard you turned and I had to see a glimpse of it for myself," Kol expressed his new found excitement. "I see that you're enjoying your new found abilities?"

Caroline did not reply but instead pushed Kol down to the ground with one swift push. Kol grabbed her arms to pull him down with her.

They both laughed hysterically, as they tried to push the other away. She remembered when Kol and her used to wrestle as children and he would often beat her and other times she would win, possibly because Kol would let her. These moments between them were rare ever since she became an adult and had to act like a proper lady. He was off doing knight duties while she was learning proper manners.

"Kol, that is enough," she heard Klaus' voice before he appeared in front of them.

He released her and they both stood up and watched as Klaus appeared before them. Kol held his hands in front of him in defense. "All right, brother. We were just having a bit of fun. I suppose you wouldn't want to join us?" he winked at Klaus, who's glare he received could have certainly cut him in half had he been human.

"Brother, sometimes I wonder where you acquire such barbaric habits," Elijah drawled in amusement at his younger brother as he appeared beside Klaus.

"Oh please Elijah, not you too," Kol ridiculed his older brothers for their often uptight and prim personalities, sometimes finding their tedious lives such a bore. What a cruel way to live, he thought to himself.

"Caroline!" Bonnie bounced from behind Elijah, who only noticed her presence until now. Her neck was covered with a patch, hiding the wound she had given her friend. The guilt was tearing its way back into her chest as Bonnie ran towards Kol and her, a sweet smile that almost made her completely forget about what happened hours before.

"B-Bonnie, are you alright?" Caroline spoke carefully, not wanting to harm her friend anymore than she had already.

"Yes, Caroline. I told you, it will be alright," her grin spread across her face and it comforted her to know that her friend was truly alright. The guilt was still there, but Bonnie's reassurance had eased her mind a little bit.

Kol turned to Bonnie, "Does it hurt, love?" he poked at her neck curiously.

"No, it does not hurt, Kol. I will be fine," she slapped his hand away playfully.

"Well, maybe I can have a taste, then," he wiggled his eyebrows, sauntering flirtatiously at her, but Caroline was in front of her before Bonnie could reply.

"Don't you dare, Kol Mikaelson," Caroline warned with a stern finger, "if you harm one hair on her head, I—"

"Lighten up, Caroline. I would never harm a hair on baby Bonnie's pretty little head," he replied in his defense.

Kol began calling Bonnie "baby Bonnie" when she turned sixteen and no longer followed him around when she was little. He used to tell Caroline stories of when Bonnie was merely a five year old that used to follow him around the castle yelling "Kol!" until he gave her attention. She did this until she hit the age of sixteen where she had grown into a mature young lady and no longer wanted to follow him around. It was quite funny to Caroline, really. Who knew Bonnie was completely obsessed with Kol of all people.

"I am right here," Bonnie stated as she placed her hands on her hips. Kol continued anyways, "I can't believe you don't trust me." He held his hand on his chest as he empathizes his gasp.

Of course she trusted him, he was Kol after all. Being an only child, he was like the big brother she never had, but Bonnie was her sister. She was human and vulnerable. It was only out of pure instinct that she were to protect Bonnie. Whenever a man showed any type of affection towards Bonnie, Caroline was immediately suspicious of the person in question. Caroline's parental tendencies would reveal themselves when it came to her.

"I swear, Caroline, you have been spending too much time with my brothers." Kol rolled his eyes.

Both girls shook their heads with a laugh.

"Ladies," Elijah spoke while looking at Kol, "I do not mean to interrupt your fun but it will be dark out soon and I must get you back to the castle, my lady." He looked at Caroline who nodded her head in agreement.

"I agree brother," Klaus nodded as he headed towards the castle.

Caroline took Bonnie's hand as they walked back to the castle with the three brothers, the sun setting down gently as the sky was painted with an array of pink and purple clouds.

A/N: YAY! An actual update! LOL sorry it's been a million years since I finished a chapter. I'm finally graduating this week so I guess I had some free time to write this! I honestly do wanna finish this fic. I have a couple of great ideas for it, but time is all I need my darlings.

Also if I have made a mistake in the mythology department well, let's just say even JP can't get that part right! Thanks for reading and reviews are appreciated!
