Hey everyone, I would like to say how sorry I am for the late update. But I have good reasons as why it was late. I had my exams at the start of this month so I was studying a few weeks before them and during them leaving no time to write. KSP was in the same boat. Then I had a veg out week before writing it and then the beta process took time as I had to change a lot that I didn't like.

Anyway enough reasons, sit back and enjoy the chapter

Chapter 4 Past Explained

When Inuyasha left the kitchen, leaving Kagome to bandage herself and weep about her family, he had never felt so helpless all of his years as a dog,

'if only I was back to my original form I could help her and not feel so damn useless!' he snarled quietly to himself. Inuyasha began to follow his nose to the places where he could smell the strongest scent of Kagome that wasn't the kitchen. The white dog had left the kitchen because the sight of the blood, the tang of intense fear and pain filling his senses had begun to enrage him.

It also somewhat reminded Inuyasha of how he had been cursed to wander the earth as a dog for the rest of eternity.

Inuyasha found his way to the top level of the house and pushed his way into a room that was smothered in Kagome's scent. He used his back foot to nudge the door shut behind him. The white dog jumped up onto the bed and lost himself to his thoughts.

600 years ago in the Feudal Era of Japan

A huge boom exploded beside Inuyasha as he jumped to dodge an attack. Dirt and dust were flung into the air as Inuyasha leaped away to avoid another attack. He unsheathed the Tetsusaiga, the sword forged of his fathers and his own fang that could kill one hundred demons in a single stroke.

"WIND SCAR!" Inuyasha screamed out as he brought down the mighty blade and a huge whirlwind of yellow demonic energy blasted its way towards his attacker. Inuyasha smirked in anticipation knowing that this battle was going to end very shortly.

But then something cold and sharp suddenly pressed against his throat then a voice breathed into his ear "I've got you now my sweet" a small giggle and Inuyasha felt a hand rest on his shoulder and squeeze it "you will be mine, you will submit!"

"I will neversubmitto you, Yoichi!" Inuyasha barked out, fighting to break free against the impossibly strong woman. She had that blade cutting into his neck, the cursed one. Inuyasha could feel a small trickle of blood running down his boiling skin.

Yoichi shrieked her anger to the sky at his reply and then the hanyou's world faded away.

Inuyasha awoke to a damp cold room. There was a single barred window high up on a stone wall, daylight shone through it making it hard to see the rest of the room.

Inuyasha found himself lying on a stone table that was slightly tilted upward he tried to sit up but found his arms and legs bound. He began to strain and struggle, using all his strength to break free of his restraints for what seemed like hours.

With a final roar of effort Inuyasha fell back, panting heavily.

"Given up already my sweet?" Yoichi's voice floated about the room. Inuyasha felt his ears flatten on his head at the disgusting noise that she produced to talk but refused to answer her, she continued

"How are you supposed to devote yourself entirely to me if you tire out so quickly and easily?" she queried in a sugary tone.

Inuyasha felt his hackles rise up in fury

"You wrinkled hag! You make me sick to the core!" he snarled and began to thrash about on the table once again.

A psychotic laugh filled the room

"I will break your spirit my sweet, sweet Inuyasha. You will serve me." her voice still holding that surgery tone

Inuyasha just smirked and spoke confidently

"I'll never serve you even until my dying breath and beyond. When I'm free I'm going to slit your throat, rip out your guts and put them in a bowl!" Inuyasha's eyes darted around the room as the daylight outside slowly dimmed.

His sensitive eyes picked up a dark shadow moving closer to him and all his senses zeroed in on it. His ears picked up the faint rustling of clothes, his nose began to smell the foul sulphurous odour of asafoetida and his eyes continued to make out the shape of Yoichi.

Her face moved into the bar of light but the side closest to him was still shaded. She smiled lovingly at Inuyasha and caressed his cheek. Inuyasha wrenched his face away and pulled against his restraints once again.

"Unfortunately for you my sweet tonight is the night of the New Moon. The one night the Moon disappears, along with your demonic powers." Yoichi beamed him a smile and leaned in close, her warm breath whispering in his ear

"Tonight will be a night you'll never forget" Yoichi then turned and strode away, when she reached the wooden door of the chamber she turned back and sang

"I won't keep you waiting long my sweet" she then walked out closing the oak door behind her.

Inuyasha broke out into a cold sweat and realised that crazy bitch spoke the truth, tonight was a New Moon and Inuyasha would be rendered human.

He watched in horror as the last rays of light died away and darkness took hold of the outside world. Inside Inuyasha a bud of terror began to bloom within him. As it happened on any other night of the New Moon, Inuyasha's claws retracted into nails, his hair metamorphosed into black and his senses dulled to the point where it felt like cotton balls were stuffed up his nose, in his ears and drawn over his eyes.

Yoichi returned a short time later and Inuyasha watched the door open and Yoichi's silhouette fill it. She reached back and grabbed a burning torch, lighting up the cruel expression upon her face. Yoichi slowly stalked around the room lighting fire trays and torches about the room. As she went, Yoichi stretched and tried her best to show off the non-existent curves of her body.

Inuyasha started to worry about if his human body will be able to handle what was to come

"What do you plan to do to me?" the now human boy boldly asked

A small giggle was all Inuyasha received as a reply.

Once Yoichi had lit all the torches and fire trays in the room, Inuyasha swallowed hard. Hanging from the walls were various knives, cutting devices, potions and herbs, Yoichi walked into his line of sight and selected an ornate curved blade.

She flicked him another beaming smile and grabbed a bottle full of bright cobalt blue liquid. Yoichi pulled the cork stopper off the top of the bottle containing the liquid and delicately sniffed the contents. She then poured it into a shallow mother of pearl dish.

Dipping the curved knife blade into the small sea of bright blue Yoichi started to chant; but the chant was not for the dagger and strange blue liquid, it was for Inuyasha and he could do nothing but listen:

"Closer, closer, comes the time to weep,

Soon you will be banished to sleep,

To a place vast and deep

In my rage your senses will fade

And your life dwells by my blade

The time has come for you to change

You shall no longer age

But view the would from a different stage

Be prepared, for time slips away to

Give up your mission and

Bow down in submission."

Yoichi kept repeating this as she slowly stepped towards him. Inuyasha felt a chilling tingle wriggle its way down his spine for he knew evil sorcery had come into play.

Once Yoichi reached Inuyasha she stopped chanting and drew the dagger out of the bright blue liquid potion. Yoichi suddenly threw the white dish at the wall making it shatter into a thousand pieces. The blue liquid slowly ran down the stone wall.

Yoichi then whispered to Inuyasha

"This is going to hurt you more than me my sweet" Yoichi waved her arm over Inuyasha and the top half Inuyasha' red fire rat robe and white kosode (shirt). Both items vanished only to reappear falling behind Yoichi, now Inuyasha was bare chested and bound to the stone table and could only watch as Yoichi brought the knife to the inside of his elbow. Some of the blue liquid slid off the end of the dagger and dropped on his skin. Inuyasha held in a scream as his arm felt like it was being burnt through even though no damage was being done.

"Now, now my sweet" Yoichi cooed "here comes the fun" Yoichi positioned the point of the dagger above the inside of Inuyasha's elbow; the blade running lengthways with his forearm, Yoichi pressed the point down and the dagger sank into Inuyasha's flesh. She made a quick shallow cut that ran along Inuyasha's right forearm.

All Inuyasha could feel was searing pain and couldn't help the yelp he produced when the blade first broke his skin. Yoichi grinned wickedly at Inuyasha before she bent her head down to his arm and ran her tongue along the fresh cut; lapping up the blood welling from the wound. When she stood up and looked back down at Inuyasha, Yoichi had a small trail of Inuyasha's blood running down her chin. Inuyasha was sickened by the sight as he felt bile rise up in his throat and tore his gaze away from the horrifying scene.

Yoichi glided to Inuyasha's other side and repeated the process. After Yoichi had her second taste of Inuyasha's blood she threw back her head in ecstasy and shrieked

"your human blood zings through my body and sends shivers to my toes my sweet! Oh the head rush; I can feel my heart pounding within my chest. If only you knew my sweet!" Inuyasha was beginning to feel dizzy and tired as the world began to spin and swim around him.

"What have you done to me?!" Inuyasha roared at the distorted image of the demon woman in front of him. Yoichi snapped out her inner world of self-gloating and power prematurely. Glaring down at Inuyasha she smacked him across his chest with the flat of the dagger she was holding, splattering some more of the left over blue potion all over Inuyasha's chest. His body flinched and cringed as the blue potion ran along the curves that defined the muscles of his body. Yoichi laughed as she watched Inuyasha squirm in pain and spoke

"now it is time that you learn the true meaning of submission and obedience to your master my sweet, by turning you into the most obedient animal known to man…." Inuyasha felt his insides churn adding to the burning pain of the cuts to his arms

"….A dog. Quite ironic my sweet considering your half demon blood is of that of an inuyoukai" Yoichi released a small giggle

"You shall know the true meaning obedience with me as your master. By now your legs and the tips of your fingers should be paralysed waiting for me to initiate the change" Inuyasha tried to struggle while Yoichi was speaking and found out for himself that he could only slightly move his upper body

"Last chance my sweet before I do this, submit to me for all eternity and become my slave or you shall wander the earth as a dog for however long I see fit"

Inuyasha didn't hesitate in his answer

"You old witch, when will it get through that thick block of wood for a brain of yours, I will never kneel before you, not now not ever!" Yoichi screeched profanities calling Inuyasha every name under the sun and beyond.

Yoichi choked herself off calming her mind and withdrew into a trance like state. She raised her arms out slightly, her palms facing up and her lips silently moving. Now more than ever Inuyasha wished that he had his demonic powers so he could hear what heinous spell she was initiating and try to break free. But Inuyasha had no idea how long it had been since sundown. He had to hope that light would come and wash over the land soon so he could stop her and escape.

Sickly mustard yellow light started to swirl around Yoichi with small tendrils connecting to her hands. Inuyasha glanced down at himself; he watched dazzled, as red light rose from the cuts on his arms and slowly drifted around his body. It wrapped around his form in strips creating a cocoon and Inuyasha realised with a shock that it was his spirit light.

Fear stabbed through Inuyasha's brain and shot down his spine. He had always thought that the fables that spoke of one's spirit light were just that, a fable. Wracking his brain for what he knew Inuyasha remembered a long distant memory of his mother Izayoi telling him the legends behind the spirit lights.

Flashback within a flashback

"Inuyasha honey where are you?" called Izayoi

"Here Mother!" came Inuyasha launching himself into her waiting embrace. Izayoi spun around when she caught him, both their jubilant laughter bouncing through the air surrounding them. "What is it Mother?" questioned Inuyasha beginning to get excited for the reason she called him here.

"Inuyasha, I wish to tell you a story" Izayoi answered as she sat down with Inuyasha cradled in her lap. Inuyasha's ears perked up as he gazed up at Izayoi's chin and face.

"this is the legend of the spirit light that is said to reside within all living beings and yes including demons too Inuyasha" Izayoi loving added anticipating his question when Inuyasha had taken a breath to speak.

Inuyasha relaxed again and let go of his breath so Izayoi continued

"nobody truly knows what their own spirit light looks like but someone trained in the ways of a priestess or monk can learn the Sight and see other beings spirit lights. Once they can see your light, very strong monks and priestesses can attempt to control you, so it is imperative to learn how to have absolute control over your own light, or risk becoming trapped within your own body.

It is said that some demons also naturally possess the Sight so if you are ever fighting someone who says they can see it, flee as fast as you are able" Izayoi felt Inuyasha give a little shudder at her last words. Izayoi hugged him closer silently saying she was here to protect him.

"But Mother" sighed the young half demon "what is so important about a spirit light thing that lives inside us?"

"Well my precious boy I was just about to get to that" Izayoi answered. Inuyasha nodded his head in an affirmative gesture; Izayoi continued on "our spirit light colour speaks of our base personal characteristics so that means Inuyasha our core traits, how you would react or do in a situation compared to another in the same position. Our spirit light colour also indicates our strength, the more pure, strong and bright your light, the greater your strength and power." Izayoi laughed a little as she saw her story was beginning to get a bit too complicated for Inuyasha so she told him the last part

"If you ever find yourself in mortal danger or on the brink of death your spirit light will shine forth and try to protect and shield you. But it only lasts so long until your will to live is worn down or broken then you're at the mercy of your attacker. That is all that is known about our spirit light but it is said there is more to them than we realise. Do you have any questions Inuyasha?" Inuyasha bobbed his head up and down and asked

"Mother will our spirit lights shine if we are feeling very hard about something?" Izayoi's eyes widened as Inuyasha's question reminded her of a few more details

"yes Inuyasha they do, if you have really intense emotions towards someone such as fury or love your spirit light can emerge. It is also rumoured that someone with sensitive enough ears can hear or sense another's thoughts and feelings." Inuyasha smiled hugely and pointed to his own soft downy doggy ears

"Just like me Mother!" Izayoi laughed filling the whole room with the sound.

"Yes Inuyasha just like you, maybe one day you can train yourself to hear them!" Izayoi burst out into another fit of laugher that was so infectious that Inuyasha joined in soon afterwards.

End of flashback within a flashback

Sweat broke out along Inuyasha's brow for he now knew that for Yoichi to be using her own sickly looking spirit light, she had to be dancing in some serious black magic. He watched in horror as the mustard coloured tendrils floated down to touch the red glowing light that surrounded his body.
