Thirty minutes later there comes a knock on the door, Nighttress answers it. Just as she thought, there stood Captain America, Ironman, Thor, and Spiderman. She smiles warmly at them and steps aside to let them in. After closing the door she throws herself at Cap engulfing him in a massive hug.
"Hey, no hug for your favorite nephew," Tony says his arms wide.
Nighttress snorts "We aren't even related and if we were you would not be my favorite uncle." Though she says this she does love him like an uncle she also cares for Cap the same way.
"Well do I still get that hug?" Rolling her eyes she hugs him none-the-less.
"So are we getting paid to watch the kids?" Spidy asks.
"No." Nighttress' voice is flat and holds a hint of annoyance. "Here is the school's schedule," she hands Cap a blue binder. "Forge will help you out if you need it."
"Yep, I am the guy everyone goes to if they're in trouble," Forge says as he walks up to them.
"And I am the guy they go to if they want trouble." Worms says, as he comes up behind Forge. Forge glares at him, Worms returns the courtesy. They do not like each other.
"Oh, speaking of trouble Boom-boom got herself into some this morning and is cleaning the danger room. She has 48 hours to do so and is not allowed to use her powers. Got it?!"
"Don't worry Nighttress we understand," Cap says in a reassuring tone.
"Ok," Nighttress sighs, "My cell number is on the refrigerator if you need me. I will be in Louisiana or Canada.
Outside Nighttress walks down to the docks where her seaplane waits. Three hours later she lands in a bay surrounded by swampland. There is an old dock near where a river runs out into the bay. Pulling the plane up to the dock she jumps out. Reaching behind the seat she pulls out a blow-up boat. Fifteen minutes later finds her paddling towards the mouth of the river.
Swatting at the bugs that buzz around her head she thinks to herself, how can Remy (aka Gambit) live here with these bugs? Then again he is well-known, to put it lightly, thief and very few would come looking for him here, too dangerous.
Shaking her head she returns to looking at her surroundings. Soon she comes up to a bend in the river where a dock juts out. She pulls up, hopping out she ties up the boat then starts to call out, "Remy, Remy hay Rem it's me, Lily! I know you are not out because it's the middle of the day." Sighing she starts for the house she can see through the trees. As she walks she keeps calling out, "Gambit, hay Gambit, Gamby, where are you, Gamby!"
Sighing again she opens the unlocked door to find a replica of what the mansion looked like; a wreck. Nighttress runs through the house calling for Gambit opening the doors of the closets and slamming them shut as she frantically looks for him. After going through the house she ends up in the kitchen. Looking around with pure and utter fear in her eyes, which only a few have ever seen. Spinning around she barrels out the door like a mad woman and into the swamp.
Following a path that only her eyes can see, she runs up to a part of the swamp where the trees open to the sky. The marsh that lay before her could not be crossed, even though she saw it, she did not stop nor slow down, if possible she quickened her pace. A foot away from her marshy doom she jumps landing on what seems to be a part of the marsh but instead is a small piece of land. She loses her balance for a minute or two almost falling but luckily regains it. Quickly jumping from hummock to hummock making her way to a large piece of land, about a bus length from solid ground, jumping on to it she runs through the thick grove of trees to an open area.
With a flicker of hope growing in her breast, she bursts through the trees. Looking around the field frantically she comes to a heart-stopping realization. No one was there, no glimpse of a leather brown coat, or the smell of Cajun spices and smoking tobacco. Falling to her knees she starts to cry bitterly into her hands. The brave and determined Nighttress is replaced by Lily Lebeau the weaker and more vulnerable side that is seen almost by no one. Nighttress or Lily spends the night out there having cried herself to sleep, it was a very fitful and nightmare filled sleep.
When she awakes she is stiff and aching like she had just fought a battle the day before, gritting her teeth she stands up almost falling down because her joints are so sore. When she gets back to the house she is not as stiff but the soreness is still there. She walks to the boat so she can grab her duffle bag.
