A Broken Ladybug Chapter 4
Moving on
Marinette sighed still looking at the hatch that led to her balcony. She had been staring at it ever since Chat left. She wouldn't deny it, she felt something for him right now but she was pretty sure it was just due to her wounded heart. Chat had always been there for her, he'd always flirt with her and hit on her, he even confessed how he loved her-er-ladybug. So, now that the love of her life broke her heart, it was natural to feel for someone she was close with. She was just confused right now and these emotions probably weren't real. Besides, it wasn't fair to Chat to suddenly try and get with him, he wasn't her backup plan he was her friend. She didn't want to treat her friends like that.
Besides…
He loved Ladybug, not her.
"Knock knock." Marinette heard from the other hatch on her floor. She didn't even get a word out when her beautiful friend popped her head in holding a shopping bag in one of her hands. "Hey girl," Alya said looking at Marinette who still hadn't fixed her hair. "New hairdo I see?" Marinette realized what she meant,
"Ah-no." She said a little flustered. "I just got out of the shower and I didn't have time to fix it." Alya climbed into her room closing the hatch and setting down the bag next to her computer. "Well, I think it looks better that way." Her best friend said rummaging through the bag. "Was weird," she continued oblivious. "Adrien left class early today just a few minutes before school let out guess daddy wanted to him go to a photo shoot or some-" Alya froze when she turned around and seeing her friends stream of tears. She set down the chocolates,
"Oh, Marinette…." Was all her best friend said before she knew it she was in Alya's arms in a tight warm hug. "Don't...worry about that guy. Boys will always be boys," Alya said trying to make her friend feel better but all Marinette could do from this point was sob in her friends coat.
She couldn't help it, she had been so attached to Adrien so in love with him. He was her entire world, to see-to know he was with someone else, someone who made him happy, someone he looked at the same way she looked at him….it hurt…..
And just to see his face or even hear his name,
….it hurt.
She continued to sob since it was the only thing she could do right now, she'd been holding the tears in for far too long.
"There there…" Alya said gently petting her friends damp hair. "Alya's here….it'll be okay."
For awhile Alya just stood there holding her friend while she sobbed. Marinette was like a sister to her in a way, so it hurt to see her like this. She held her friend, petting her head for awhile quietly talking to her, telling her it would be okay. She rubbed Marinette's back rocking slowly with Marinette in her arms.
Marinette's sobs slowly started to die down, but Alya still held her, feel protective of her. Marinette sniffled and gently tried pulling away, Alya let her. She looked at her friend, rubbing her red eyes.
Alya looked concerned but calm at the same time like she had already experienced this. The girl slowly smiled and walked over to Marinette's resting area, she patted the spot next to her and Marinette slowly walked over before sitting down.
"I'm gonna tell you something," Alya began. "But you can't tell anyone else-okay?" She warned, Marinette nodded still rubbing her eyes and sniffling.
Alya kept her hazel eyes on her friend, hesitating for a bit which was something that surprised Marinette.
"I…" She began, determined to keep her eyes on Marinette. "Last year, before I ended up in your class. I was going through what you are right now."
"R-really?" Marinette questioned with a drained shock. Alya gave her a sad smile.
"Yeah, the name isn't important but...I'd been totally in love with the guy for two years. I wasn't able to talk to him at all. I'd," she paused giving Marinette a knowing smile. "Jumble my words." Marinette's eyes drew away from her friends,
Alya placed a hand on the girls shoulder letting her know she was still here for her.
"But, last year when I had finally worked up the courage to talk to him, he got himself a girlfriend. The guy was totally into her…." Marinette could hear a little pain behind Alya's sarcastic tone but she decided not to point it out.
"What…" She began, "What did you….do?" Marinette asked Alya now looking at her.
Her friend shrugged. "I was a mess, I was crushed. I thought my life was over, I was a total wreck for four weeks straight. My grades slipped, didn't even try fixing my hair, and when I went home I'd just cry and eat my heart away with sugar while watching sad movies." Alya paused giving herself a smile. "It's one of the reasons why my older sister is so protective of me now," Alya chuckled a little to herself. "I remember one day, I was sitting in my room with the blinds closed, it looked and smelled like a cave. I had the blanket over my head and my hair looked like a hurricane and I was watching another sad movie with a picture of that idiot in my hands. But then my sister broke down the down and she said," Alya mimicked her sisters strong tone.
"You've let this guy break you down and make you a shell of who you where. Alya you don't need that stupid guy to make you happy. My sister is a strong confident girl, don't let that wimp get you down! You go to school tomorrow with your head held high and a proud smile on your face like he didn't even get to you. Otherwise I'll go to school and beat him up for you. No creep is gonna mess with my sister and get away with it."
Marinette smiled a little she could picture that.
"What did you do?" Alya smiled as if she where remembering it like it was yesterday.
"It may of sounded harsh but it was just what I needed to hear. I fixed my hair and clothes up and went to school the next day with my head held high and a proud smile on my face. Sure...I was still in pain, but I wouldn't let him see that." Alya turned to Marinette holding her hand.
"I moved on girl. Yeah, it was tough, but I did it, and you can to. Adrien may have seemed like the only guy out there for you, but there'll be others. Just look at me, I found Nino."
Marinette smiled, "I guess you're right. Thank you Alya," She said giving her friend a hug which was returned.
"No problem girl it's what I'm here for." They hugged for a bit before Alya stood up saying dramatically as if she where Ladybug. "Now, let's embark on these movies and chocolate I brought over!" Marinette smiled giggling a little while watching her friend excitedly rush over to the computer grabbing a small stack of DvD's and a large box of chocolates in the other. She plopped back down next to Marinette with a smile on her face.
She watched amused as Alya went through the movie genres with each one she did a dramatic pose to match it. "Horror, Ro-mance, Action! Sad-no way no sad movies. Oh oh-what about this one, they made a movie about Ladybug and Cat Noir!"
Marinette looked at the animated cover of Ladybug, although she was flattered they made a movie about her-er Ladybug, her alter ego was the last thing she wanted to think about right now.
Marinette hummed tapping her chin, "Uh, how about Horror." She was a little disappointed but nonetheless she stood up with a smile,
"Your wish is my command," She said bowing Marinette rolled her eyes still holding that smile. Alya put the movie in to Marinette's computer and sat back down opening the Chocolates, they were cubes with Paris written on them. "I was going to get hearts but…" Alya said leaving that statement there.
"Thanks Alya," Marinette said taking one of the chocolates and tasting it. They were filled with caramel. Yum!
They sat back and watched the scary movie shrieking when ever there was a jump scare and making fun of cliches. It was nice to just hang out with Alya and forget about everything else. Marinette felt lucky,
Like Alya was her lucky charm…
After the movie was over and they had went through all the others Alya helped Marinette with her homework.
Now Marinette was allowing Alya to fix her hair up she said she needed a new stye. Marinette had asked what it was but Alya said she'd see when she was done.
"What about Nathinal?" Alya said she'd started naming off other guys Marinette could take an interest in, not that she had to but just for conversation, she was willing to stop if Marinette wanted to.
Marinette thought about that and remembered the evillustrator. "Pass." She simply said,
"Hmm, good point. Besides I heard he might be going out with Mark." Marinette covered her mouth gasping.
"Your kidding!"
"That's what I heard" Her friend said, "Hold still I don't wanna mess up your hair."
"Sorry," Marinette said looking forward.
"Okay, how about Luka?" Marinette felt her ears turn red.
"Uh-um Luka….he's just a friend."
"Pfft-girl he's totally into you."
"A-Alya!" Marinette squealed blushing.
"I'm just saying…" Her friend said smirking. "Just think on it."
Marinette pouted but let out a drawn out, "Fine." There was a moment of silence, the only thing that could be heard was the soft sound of Jagged stones album playing in the background.
"What about Chat Noir?" Marinette blurted out. She felt Alya pause on her handy work, Marinette feared she'd done something wrong, when Alya didn't respond Marinette looked over her shoulder.
Alya was tapping her chin, sticking her bottom lip out when she was usually thinking. "Chat Noir huh-head forward girl." Alya said moving her friends head back to its original spot she continued her work.
"I mean, I guess if you're into flirty guys, but Cat Noir is a nice guy even if he's a flirt. I'm pretty sure he's got a thing for Ladybug but hey if you wanna try and go for that girl I bet I could arrange a hangout session with him." Alya said Marinette could tell she was leaning towards something with that tone in her voice.
Marinette blushed putting her hands up in defense.
"I-I was just suggesting it...I-it's not like I like him, I was just thinking aloud that's all."
"Riiiight."
"I-I was!" Her face reddened even more.
"Sure girl,"
"I'm being serious."
"Deny it all you want, but I'm pretty sure my bff is crushing on a superhero." Marinette didn't need to turn around to know Alya was grinning.
"S-so what if I am…" Marinette muttered.
"Well," Alya said pausing to grab something before Marinette could feel her hands on her hair again. "If you are crushing on this guy I'd be happy to be your wing girl, but word of advice. Let your heart heal a bit before you try going after someone else."
"I know," Marinette said simply.
"Okay, all done," Alya got up to grab a Mirror before coming back and holding it in front of Marinette. "How's it look?"
Marinette looked in the mirror, her hair was still down but alya had made two braids in the back of her hair and tied them together. Her bangs were still there but it was pulled back a little so it showed more of her face.
"Well…?" Alya said waiting in anticipation.
"I love it." Marinette said admiring her new hairdo.
"I am great with hair and-"
Beeep, Beeep,
"Ah, hold up girl." Alya held up a finger taking her phone out and looking at it, her expression dropped when she saw the text. She sighed and looked back at Marinette. "Sorry….I gotta get going, my sisters-"
"It's cool." Marinette said showing a pained smile.
"You sure?" Marinette just nodded. Alya gave her a tight hug. "Alright, give me a call if you need anything, we can hang tomorrow okay. I'll leave the movies here, but don't touch the sad one."
"Roger," Alya gave her a smile and waved before she left.
Marinette felt tired again she needed sleep.
