so I'm not exactly sure what happened here. It's kind of just word vomit. I have a plot in mind, I just need to establish better relationships with the characters.

Hope you enjoy it never the less.

disclaimer: I own this. No, that was not sarcasm. How dare you accuse me of being sarcastic?!

Okay, I lied, I don't own this.

At this point, Jessica was the only one taking notes. The class was bored and being the last period of the day, no one could blame them for the lack of attention. But Jessica knew just how valuable her education was, and was determined not to let it go to waste because it had been a long day. Besides, there was only twenty minutes of History left. Mr. Mathews was old and one of those teachers who loved the sound of his own voice. Jessica quickly scribbled everything down, and the bell went. Time flys. Except it hadn't. There was still eighteen minutes of class left. So why…

The unspoken question was answered by the door being flung open by men with clown masks and guns.

"Everybody on the ground now!" One shouted, grabbing the teacher by the hair and practically throwing him to the floor. The students followed suit with a few whimpers and tears, but Jessica stood tall.

"Jess," one of the girls hissed, tugging at her ankle.

"If it isn't little Jester," a blue haired man said, giving a throaty laugh.

"It's Jessica to you, freak," she spat back. One of the men pulled out a phone, quickly dialling.

In the silence of the class room, everyone heard the ring, and the voice in the other end yell,"What?!"

"We found her, boss," the man grinned, holding it slightly away from his face so they could hear it better. The haunting laugh of the Joker, and then the response.

"Well then bring her here, I'm sure she misses her daddy."

She was forced to kneel in front of the purple clad clown. Out of the corner of her eye, she could see Dick, as well as many other kids from notably rich and famous families. The Joker grinned at her, holding a gun about a foot from her head.

"Any last words?"

"Why? You weren't interested in my first."

"Yes I was, it was 'ha'!"

"In that case, my last word is bang. So I can go out with a bang." She matched his grin with one of her own, staring directly down the barrel of the gun as his finger tightened. Her eyes stayed open even as her ears filled with the loud back, allowing her to see the bright red flag that was a mere inch from her forehead.

"Clever girl." He laughed, pulling out another gun, a real one, and aimed it at Dick.

"No!" She screamed, leaping forward, teeth bared and fingers curled into fists. The gun went off as she collided with her father, but she didn't have time to see if it had hit. The Joker laughed, taking all of her punches without so much as flinching. Her fists felt too slow and didn't land heavy enough to do any real damage. He spun them around, so she was pinned underneath him. She struggled, but he just leant forward, hot breath on her ear.

"I killed Robin," he half sang, half whispered.

And that was it.

Her head turned to the side, easily spotting the artery underneath pale skin. She sunk her teeth into it, ripping out skin and as much of the artery as possible. Blood gushed out, heart forcing it out as panic took over him. She brought her legs up underneath him and kicked him off, watching the man who called himself her father crumple to the ground. Then she laughed.

Jessica woke up in a cold sweat, breathing hard as she tried to keep her heart from coming out her throat. A rapid knock at the door caused her to yelp in surprise. "Just a dream," she muttered, swinging her legs off the edge of the bed and moving towards the door. She opened it, only to have a green skinned girl latch onto her. The girl was shaking, and Jessica carefully out her arms around her. She could feel a wetness gathering on her shoulder.

"M'gann are you crying?" She asked in shock, pushing her away enough to look the older girl in the face. The girl gave a weak laugh, pressing the heels of her hands into her eyes to stop the flow.

"Yeah, I just… Your dream was very, um, loud. God, are you alright?"

"Oh." That's right, empath. "Yeah, I'm fine. Did you like, see it or…"

"Yeah… Jess, you wouldn't really kill him, would you? I mean, he's a terrible person, but he's your dad." Jess sighed running a hand through her hair and sitting back on the bed.

"Honestly? I don't know. I don't think I could kill a person but then again, he's not much of a person." There was a knock at the door, and both girls looked up to see a shirtless Superboy in the doorframe. M'gann blushed but Jessica just grinned.

"Lucky girl," she said, elbowing the Martian, causing her to blush even harder. Even the krytonian's cheeks were flushed with red.

"I was wondering what had happened. I heard crying," Superboy said, shuffling from one foot to the other.

"Everything is fine Conner," M'gann said, floating over to the boy.

Jessica had decided she hated P.E. She loved sport, it gave her a way to get rid of all her extra energy. But having to get changed in front of girls who didn't like her wasn't exactly a pleasant situation. It wasn't as if people couldn't tell she was pale and thin, but the oversized uniform she wore meant it didn't look that bad. But as she pulled the shirt off, she could hear the collective gasp as the whole locker room saw her near naked body. Her ribs stuck out and her pale skin made every bruise look ten times worse than it actually was. The binding was almost the same colour as her skin, so it might seem as if she were nearly flat chested. She quickly pulled on the sport shirt, not wanting to be stared at any longer. She already had the sport shorts underneath the skirt, so she tugged it off quickly. She finished tying her shoes just as the girls started to file out. She hurried to catch up, only to trip over a leg. The owner of said limb just smirked, walking off and laughing with her friends. As Jessica went to get up, a hand grabbed her arm and pulled her to her feet.

"Um, thanks," she said, looking at the red head. She knew her from somewhere…

"No problem. That girl's a bitch."

"I figured. Sorry, I forgot your name."

"It's Barbara. Come one, we're going to be late."

The two girls walked out together, joining the group just as the went to run.

"Wait, so you're the commissioner's kid, and you're not, you know, terrified of me?" Jessica asked, breath still steady.

"Nah. I've heard all about the really bad guys. I remember him telling me about you a few years ago. You never did anything wrong."

"That's a dangerous way to think."

"But it's a nice way."

The group came to a stop after a lap of the field. A grinning dark haired boy came up by Barbara's side, and Jessica recognised him instantly.

"Hey Dick," Barbara smiled, poking his ribs.

"Hey Babs. Hey Jess," he replied, massive grin on his face. Jessica gave a too big grin back, causing a few kids out of the corner of her eye to take a noticeable step back. She toned it down a bit, but there was still a big smile on her face. She heard the teacher explain that they were doing basic fitness tests, and at least half the class groaned. The lesson would be long, boring, and not to mention embarrassing for many of the students, most of which never even had to carry their own bags to school. While the girls sat on the side lines, the boy prepared to do the beep test. Most of them dropped out after four, while most of the more sporty guys made it into the 12's. Jessica watched as Dick dropped out after 9, but she could see he wasn't the least bit exhausted and knew for a fact he could run for much longer. He came to sit down and watch the last few guys with Jessica and Barbara.

"Why'd you drop out?" she whispered.

"Appearances. I already look like Robin, I don't need to be seen as some fitness freak as well," he muttered back, careful not to be overheard by anyone.

After the last boy dropped out, just shy of twelve, the girls got up. With her long legs, Jessica managed to walk for the first few levels. The girls dropped out really quick, most of them because of concern of getting sweaty or messing up their hair rather than a lack of fitness. Jessica, Barbara, and three other girls got to the seven mark, after which it became a battle between Jessica and her new friend. Jessica wondered idly why the other girl was so fit, before remembering that her dad was a cop, and he probably wanted to make sure if the need every arose, she could either run away or defend herself. Just before ten, Barbara also dropped out, leaving Jessica alone. Although many of the others had been cheering Barbara on, the room became silent aside from Jessica's heavy breathing. After a few minutes, just as she was passing level thirteen, the silence was broken.

"How the hell is she so fit? She's a fucking twig," one girl asked, attempting to whisper but not quite grasping the concept.

"Probably cause she's always running from the cops and Batman," a boy replied, laughing. The group around them joined, and the comment caught Jessica so off guard that she turned her head to see who had said it. And tripped.

Those who weren't laughing before started now, with only Barbara and Dick staying silent. Even the teacher was holding back his amusement. Jessica stood, brushing herself off, and walked towards the boy who made the comment. He stood, a smile on his face that was only there to hide the fact he was scared. He held up his fists, fully expecting a fight. Jessica did nothing of the sort. She gave him a small smile. As her grin got bigger and bigger, his fell, his friends backing away. He took a step back, and Jessica started laughing. It wasn't her laugh, it was her father's, because she was angry. She was angry and hurt but she couldn't hit him because it would be the excuse they needed to kick her out. So her walls went up, and she laughed it off.

"Jessica!" The teacher yelled, and the girl swung her head around, silent but with a grin from ear to ear on her face.

"Yes?"

"Detention."

"Why?"

"You know why."

"No actually, I don't," she took a step towards the teacher, and watched as she visibly blanked at her statement. Because she knew that she hadn't done anything wrong, and she enjoyed watching the teacher scramble to find something.

"Was it the laugh?" she asked, taking another step towards the teacher. "Because they were laughing too, so it couldn't be that. Or was it the fact I nearly start a fight? Because I'm sure you'll want to talk to him too, considering he brought his fists up while I kept my hands by my side and my hands open. So no, it couldn't be that. Disrupting the class? No no no, it couldn't be that either, considering they disrupted me while taking a test, causing me to fall and not get the results I deserve. So what is it? And if you say back chatting, you told me I was in trouble before I started this rant, so you've sort of created your own little paradox."

She had stepped close enough to the teacher that he was visibly uncomfortable. He stuttered for a moment, when the bell rang, signalling the end of class. Jessica gave the sweetest smile she was capable of, and walked off, leaving a stunned teacher and class in her wake.

"Was that necessary?" Dick asked, leaning against the locker nest to hers. Jessica shrugged.

"Probably not. But you do realise I am ever so slightly mentally unstable? It seemed necessary at the time." She closed her locker, taking a bite out of the apple she had brought with her.

"What was with the laugh anyway?"

"You saw how freaked out he was. It was either that, or hitting him, and I can't actually get into trouble for laughing."

"You're going to get kicked out if you keep this up."

"You think I don't know that? Listen, I'm trying, I really am. And if people weren't so god damn prejudiced against me, it would be enough." She started to walk off, towards the table they ate lunch at yesterday. Was it only yesterday? It seemed like a lifetime ago… Dick hurried to catch up, half walking, half jogging.

"People were prejudiced against me too. I mean, not as bad, obviously, but still."

"Yes but you're charismatic and funny and hot. I'm none of those things. I'm an asshole who has no filter."

"You think I'm hot?"

"Shut up."

Sorry? I'm not exactly sure what this was. I hope it sort of kinda explains Jessica a bit more. For those who might be confused, Jessica is very unstable, but also incredibly smart (obviously), so although she acts out, she's smart about it (hence why she laughed at the guy to make him feel uncomfortable rather than hitting him).

If there is anything you guys want to see, particularly bonding moments for the team and Jessica, feel free to leave them in a review!

love you all!
