We sat near where I had stayed the night before in the bar. It was much busier today than it was last night. We sat there drinking whatever he had ordered for the both of us. I had just finished telling him about my parents and how I left them the previous day.

"So essentially you ran away?" he said as he took a drink from the beer bottle, I think it was beer anyway.

"Not really. Last I heard 22 year old's can't run away." I said laughing, I could feel a small buzz from the alcohol seeping into my system.

"So, you left your parents and now are roaming the streets of Borneo alone?" he asked. I nodded taking a drink of the alcoholic liquid. He let out a sigh.

"You know anything about boats?" he asked changing the course of the conversation completely.

"Nothing really. Back in the states I was still in school. The only job I've had are various cleaning jobs at various companies." I said staring off into the distance. "Why?" I asked as I looked back at him. His smirk could make steel melt.

"Do you want to work on the Bloody Mary?" he asked, I was a bit taken back by his question and felt a little reluctant to answer. Live on a boat with a total stranger? In a foreign place? I could feel my mother's voice scolding me in the back of my mind.

"Don't worry I have another guy living on the boat with me. His name is Tran, he's like my assistant. He's also a good friend." He said sensing my reluctance.

I took a moment and mulled it all over. I had lived the majority of my life over-analyzed things, mainly because of my parents. Listening to my mother's voice in my head. But what did I want? I knew I wanted to stay here, away from everyone, start my life new and fresh. I began to nod realizing where my own thoughts were heading.

"What would I do?" I asked.

"Clean, cook, anything we need help with. I'll pay you too, mostly with a place to live." he said as I continued to nod again. I made up my mind giving Bill a smile.

"You got a deal." I said holding my hand for him to shake. His rough hand grasped mine as I shook hands with the stranger that was becoming a friend at a rapid pace.
