Chapter 4
Krystina was sitting on the couch inside an apartment building. The last time she remembers being here she didn't think that it was so big. She didn't think that she would be able to get back to this place… she didn't even know how she got here…. One moment she was daydreaming and the next moment she was in front of her Uncles apartment. Also the inside was different as well there were toys all over the floor and a few clothes. She was holding a cup of hot chocolate. The cup itself was keeping her warm as she was waiting for her uncle to get off the phone with her aunt. The conversation from this side doesn't seem as if it was going well or her aunt was making her uncle angry; but soon enough he was on the phone and sighing.
"I don't know what wrong with that woman," he said as he sat down right next to her.
"What happen?"
"She didn't even call the police when you went missing," he said. "And was happy to turn you over to me," he sighs.
"Well we had one thing in common," she said in a low voice.
"Are you okay?" he asks.
"Yeah, just a little confuse on how I got here," she said.
"Well you're here now that all it matters," there was a silence.
"You can ask you know," she said.
"You don't have to speak about it if you don't want to"
"It was just a prison uncle nothing more," she said. "Nothing bad happen to me. I don't know why but I'm happy it didn't. It was like I was an overprotective child under a watchful parent's eye that's all. So there nothing for you to worry about you don't have to step your toes around me."
"Alright then," he sat down right next to her. "So what do you want to do?"
"Well I am a bit hungry"
"Food that I can do," he said.
"Really, has your cooking gotten any better?"
"Hey, got some practice over the years!" they both started to laugh. "Anything you got the taste for?"
"Ice cream?"
"Some real food"
"Then how about some burritos," she said.
"Okay you just wait right there," he headed off to the kitchen.
"So what's with the toys? Are you collecting now?"
"No, Chris is at school right?" he said.
"Chris?"
"I name him after you, Christian… he in kindergarten right now, just turn five"
"School…"
"Do you want to go?"
"Huh?"
"To school? I'm friends with the principal at Keystone High," he said. "I sure that he wouldn't have a problem with testing you into the right grade. After we pick up Chris."
"Test…" she said below a whisper where he couldn't heard it.
"We can always have a practice test send here and you can go to take the test whenever you're ready"
"Can we go in today?"
"Sure, let me make the call," they didn't say anything after that. Kristina went and started playing with the toys on the ground.
Later that day, they left to pick up Chris and went straight to the elementary school. When Christian came up he ran and hug her uncle. Then he turn to Kristina.
"Christian, this is your cousin, Kristina," he said. "She going to be staying with us for now on"
"Its nice to meet you Christian," she said.
"Nice to meet you," he said. "Your my cousin?"
"Yep"
"Can we play when we get home?"
"Sure what do you want to play?"
"Flash vs. robbers," Kris saw the happy look on his face and couldn't help at smiling along with him.
"Okay, I'll play with you," they end up at Keystone High School. Kristina was in a office with the principle, her uncle and cousin. The principle talk to her uncle for a minute before turning to her.
"I'm happy that you interest in our school, Ms. Fey," he said. "I talk to your uncle earlier and pulled out some placement tests that can tell us what classes to put you in. I'll have then graded and within an hour we can have your results. You can take the test in here or you can go ahead and take it one of our spare classrooms, if you like?"
"I… can I take it in the classroom?"
"Of course follow me," as they go into the class room. She could just see herself sitting her just thinking of all the lessons that she will be going through with others students her age. She took a seat in front of the package that the principle put down and within a few short minutes she completed it. "That was fast would you like to go over your answers?"
"No thank you," she said.
"Feel free to look around the class room while you wait," he said before he left. A few minutes later when he came back he called to her uncle. "James can I talk for you for a moment?"
James left the room and step out in the hall.
"Is everything alright?"
"Not quite," he said. "Is just that Kristina didn't score in any grade level?"
"What do you mean?"
"Based on one of the tested," he said. "She should be out of high school she got a perfect score on the high school exams"
"And the other?"
"It's the same she got a perfect score and that was a college level test. At first I didn't know why you ask me to give it to her but right now all I can say it that you have a little genius to take care of."
"What do you think that I should do?"
"Well I can get her enrolled into the school and have her in the same grade as other her age, it would be more of social experience than a learning one or you can have her start college now and see what type of career that she wants to pursue but I would be up to her at the end of it."
They both go back inside of the room to see Kristina talking to Christian.
"Ms. Fey, I may have a word?" the principal called to her. When she came over he ask her a question. "Would you like to attend this school or would you like to start college?"
