The rewritten Chapter 4

Update: As of 6/8/2014, I corrected some grammar errors. It will be the last time.

Scratch that. 7/14/2014 is the LAST time I will correct the mistakes. I reread it and realized I left some errors. Sorry!

''Her name is Ahsoka, Masters.''

They looked at him curiously , particularly the leader Leshka.

''Is this true?'' she asked.

''I am absolutely certain Masters,'' was his brief reply.

There were 3 other members in the room, the Zabrak Leshka, a human male Leron Zay, and the Duros male Va'lkir Ry. They were only 3 of the 15 parcels of the Head Council, but they were more than a match for a battalion of soldiers.

''Did you get any thing more from her?'' asked Leron, raising a bushy brown brow.

Miek shook his head. ''No, she had just woken up and it was better for her to rest rather than press on.''

Leshka leaned forward in her seat, ancient eyes deep in thought. ''I see,'' she exclaimed. ''Keep an eye on her and an ear out for any information she may say about where she is from. The ones who found her, Alex and his friends, tell them also to keep watch on her. She could become important later.''

Miek nodded. ''I will follow that, Masters. By the way, are results being processed?''

Va'lkir grinned. ''How ironic that you ask that. They are almost finished testing. It should come out in a few hours.''

Miek bowed to his Masters. ''Thank you. T'was all I needed to know.''

''All right now. Be off! And remember; keep a sharpest eye out.''

''I will.''

Ahsoka laid on the bed for several hours, drifting in and out of consciousness. It seemed only like a dream. Whenever she was awake, daze and hazy confusion would settle in like a blanket. However, when she was dozing it was a dreamless sleep. There was no flashes of light, no premonitions of the future. When she finally gathered the strength to stay up for some time than a few minutes, she forced herself to sit up and look around. She took note that, yes, there was still a bandage over her left eye, but the world looked more clearer and cheerier. Or sterile.

The walls of the hospital were a gentle oceanic aquamarine, pleasing to the eye. There was no longer anything attached to her, luckily, and when she glanced out the window, she was initially surprised that the sun was setting, an orangish halo settling beneath the dark horizon.

That long, huh? she thought.

At that precise moment, a nurse entered the room. Well, not a nurse exactly; just a Nautolan boy who seemed to be just entering his teenage years.

''Uh, hello there,'' he enunciated. Ahsoka smiled tiredly. She didn't know how long she was out, but it seemed like hours...

''How long was I out? From the accident until today?'' she asked. He pursed his lips together, deep maroon eyes sinking back.

''Are you sure you want to know right now?''

''Just tell me.''

''Around two days, I think.''

She sighed. Different emotions rippled through her, most of them frustration.

I've been in a coma for two days? Why wasn't I in a bacta tank? If I was soaked in one, I would've be back up in hours.

The boy came to her side. Ahsoka noticed worry flitting across his face.

''You alright,'' he asked.

''Yeah, just shocked, that's all.''

''I know how that feels.''

''You do?''

''No, I just wanted to make you feel better.''

''Well, that's wrong,'' she exclaimed sarcastically.

He laughed at that remark. ''I don't know you, but I can tell your're very humorous! The name is Alexander by the way, but most simply call me Alex or Al.''

''Nice name.''

''Thanks. Is there anything you need?''

''Well, I do need to ask something. Why wasn't I in a bacta tank? Wouldn't that have healed quicker?''

''A what?'' he asked blankly. He felt utterly confused. What the heck was a bacta tank?

Ahsoka also felt perplexed . Didn't every planet, save those in the outer fringe, was well-stocked with that necessity? After all, she was very sure that she wasn't even out of the Inner Rim yet, given the elapsed time between going in and out.

''You know, a bacta tank.'' He still continued to stare.

''I don't know what you mean by that,'' he said slowly. ''But we do Jensaari healing here.''

''You mean you don't know what bacta is?,'' she asked exasperated.

''We don't have bacta, Ahsoka, much less know what it is.''

''Where am I?,'' she asked worringly.

''Nyeero.''

Ahsoka asked ''Where's that?''

He gave a bemused look. ''In the Republic...?''

''In where? The Inner Rim?''

''I'm talking about the Nyeeron Republic!'' He scrunched his forehead.

The teenager arched her species version of an eyebrow. ''And where's that? I've never heard of it.''

He looked at her dumbly. ''We're at the edge of the galaxy! Beyond the first hyperspace disturbance!''

Her mind whirled at that conclusion. That was impossible! There were 2 hyperspace disturbances in the galaxy; one at the edge of the outer Outer Rim, (although it had all sorts of holes for ships to pass through) and another at the very edge of the galaxy, which had never been punctured before; that was the job of the Outbound Flight Expedition before the Republic lost contact and was lost. Besides, how were Nautolans and other species you see every day beyond the reach of the government? She had counted exactly two so far and there were surely more.

''Nye...what?'' she trailed off.

''Nyeero,'' he repeated more slowly. ''Can you remember anything at all?''

''Perfectly,'' Ahsoka responded. ''I remember everything including...'' she stopped at that. Because she could remember everything perfectly, including the immediate preceding events.

''Including what?''

''Its...nothing.''

''Are you sure?''

''I'm sure.'' She casted her eyes downward.

But the flatness and near-lifelessness in her voice stated something else. Alex made a mental note to notify Miek of this.

''By the way, what is Nyeero?,'' she asked.

He began ''Is at the edge of the galaxy. Beyond your Galactic Republic. We've formed our own government plus 3 others and colonized many other planets. We know of several other governments with species unknown to the rest of the galaxy. Aren't you from here?''

Ahsoka horns peaked at this. This was info she knew she had to relay when she got back.

''I'm from the Galactic Republic. But I would like to know of the other governments."

Alex pursed his lips and wondered at how to answer. It somehow seemed wrong to say that most other ones were hostile and would try to annihilate any trespasser on the spot. Now there was another thing. They had a visitor from the outside.

''I didn't do a lot of research but-''

''Hi there!,'' an eager girly voice shouted. Both heads turned at the end of the bed and saw a light green girl with black eyes who was standing there with a wide grin.

''What your name?'' she asked.

''My name is Ahsoka,'' she politely replied. ''And your name?''

''The name is Melody.'' She hugged the boy beside her and said ''And this idiot is my best friend.''

The Togruta laughed as Alex turned a deeper shade of green.

''What do you want Mel?,'' he muttered.

Her face turned serious. ''Master Miek needs you, concerning-,'' she took a quick glance at the Togruta ''-It.''

It didn't take a Jensaari Master to know what she was talking about.

''I'll be back,'' he said and quickly left the room.

''What's the matter?,'' he demanded. They were entering a bright examination room and in the center of it all was the stra- Ahsoka's craft. The weirdness of it all was compounded by the starkness of the blackened plates against a room that was as bright as a lamp.

''Well,'' a smug voice behind him asked. ''Why don't you look for yourself, then?''

His shoulders slumped. He hated that voice and the person it belonged to since they were children. He wished it was another colleague's voice, but so far he could not find another with a tone like that.

He reluctantly turned around and glared at him in the eye.

''Zaire.''

A 14 year old Devaronian strode to him. His eyes held a self-confidence that bordered on arrogance.

''How's tentacles doing?,'' he exhaled in a superior sounding voice at Melody. Alex sighed.

''What do you want?''

''I don't want anything,'' he said. ''I've been assigned to the case.''

''You've been what?!''

''Do I need to repeat myself? I said I have been assigned to the case, which means that I gotta survey that thing several hours a day and wonder how to get it fixed and make sure that it isn't a hazard to anybody.''

He stared at them and added ''Well, almost everybody.''

''Knock it off, my young and stupid apprentice,'' a voice from the doorway pronounced.

''Master Jay-Jay! What are you doing he here?'' he stammered.

''I was only gone for a minute, which I see you have not made good use of,'' she declared as she glared daggers. Her apprentice shrunk back.

''Master its very nice to see you, but why are we here?,'' Alex questioned as he also snickered at his rival's timidness.

''Miek told us about the girl-what's her name?''

''Her name is Ahsoka.''

The female Togruta cocked what would have been a raised eyebrow had she had any hair and a slight smile. ''Ahsoka, what a lovely name.''

''What were you going to tell us, Master?,'' Melody interjected.

''Ah, yes,'' she began. ''We've examined all of it-from the cockpit to hyperdrive, even to the type of paint used and we have to say, this craft is hardly like any we have seen before.''

''What do you mean by that?,'' Melody asked.

''For starters, the hyperdrive is more powerful than any we have now. I'd say it's 25% more efficient.''

Alex's eyes went wide. How can one teenager, who probably had only some experience with the Force, could build something like that? The most powerful military vessels were weaker than this contraption of rubbish!

''I'm thinking about that too,'' she said. Alex's eyes narrowed.

''You read my mind?''

''On instinct.''

Alex shook his head. ''Okay, what we're you going to tell us?''

''The hyperdrive is not only more powerful than any model that we currently have, but its not even from here.''

''What do you mean?''

''I mean, the space craft is not even from this section of space, not from the Nyeero or its 467 member worlds. Not even influences from the species here.''

''So what are you saying?'' Melody chimed in.

''She's from the other government.''

Melody felt confused. ''Which one?''

''The other one.''

Her violet to red eyes widened. ''You mean to say...''

''The Galactic Republic. This one is from thousands of lightyears away.''

''Master,'' Alex stammered. ''There hasn't been any contact in 3 millenia. Not since the Beyond Boundaries Project. Could she be a diplomat? Have they found us?''

Zaire snorted. ''I think she's too young to even start training.''

''But there were cases of that happening. Some of our own diplomats have been into 3 years training.''

''She isn't from here, sherlock.''

''What I mean is-''

''Lets bring this to Jack, shall we?,'' Melody cut in before a full-scale war could ensure.

''I will bring this to him,'' Jay-Jay said. ''While you three take stock of the full damage taken.''

As she walked toward the door, Zaire and Alex stared at each other. The only thing missing was lava coming out of their eyes. The Togruta Jensaari stood in the doorway and exclaimed ''Be cooperative, understand?''

''Yes Master.''

Even after her footsteps faded into silence, they still stared at each other, no one daring to blink. All that was missing was a timer and maybe their lighsabers.

Then again, Mel wearily thought, Its better not to have them.

Jack was told of this and then passed this along to the council. Jay-Jay couldn't because she had to leave on a mission to investigate. Something about the exporting of illegal drugs he heard. He told the council, who in turn told Miek when he was done with his mission. As of far, the council wanted to keep this under wraps. No point in telling the whole press if it turns out she's not from there.

''You need to ask her more information,'' Leshka gently pressed. ''From what they told us, she comes from the Republic. We need you to confirm this.''

''It is not a good idea to press her so much,'' Miek concernedly said. ''She is still very tired.''

''Do it only when she has the energy,'' Leshka pressed on. ''We need to know where she is from.''

''I believe everything will be revealed in time.''

Over the next few weeks, Ahsoka was allowed to do the one thing she couldn't do back in the Jedi Temple; just lay down and relax. With the Clone War, there hadn't been any time to simply lie down. She almost forgot what it felt like to slow down and take a break for once. Yet there came a little problem with that. She was never used to feeling so useless. Ahsoka Tano was used to always being on the field with her lighsaber deflecting back plasma bullets to droids, not laying in a position for so long!

So far, she spent her days either meditating or working out any problems with her lightsaber and, if they allowed it, to practice. Hadn't her duel with Barriss proven that she relied too much on her shoto? She always felt she was watched closely when she did her katas, however. She couldn't figure out where it came from. They have as of far refused to give her more information.

3 weeks after ''the accident'' as she refer to call it, a certain somewhat familiar Jensaari visited her.

''Hello Master Miek,'' she greeted. He smiled kindly back to her.

''My greetings to you too,'' he replied.

''Is there something you need to ask me?''

''Actually, yes there is,'' he said. ''I need to ask you a couple of questions.''

''Like what?''

''Where are you from? Where did you come from? We've examined your craft...''

''Wait a minute, my craft?!''

Oh Force, she thought, I've never even thought of it! What was I thinking?!

Noticing her distress, Miek quickly said ''I think it will help if we get out of here, won't it?''

Ahsoka couldn't agree more.

They sat in a rotting log under the shadow of the tree. The flowers were going to be in full bloom. But the air was filled with anxiety around those 2, particularly Ahsoka.

''This isn't the Core.''

Miek looked at her in slight surprise. ''How did you know?''

She shrugged. ''Alex told me.''

''I see.''

Ahsoka sighed. She thought she was just hallucinating, but now it was all too real. Was this really the edge of the galaxy? She heard the planet's name when she was talking to the boy, but she'd never heard of it before that. Now, she suspected it really was true. Yet...

''Master Miek, what he told me was true isn't it? The very edge of the galaxy?''

Miek began gently ''Ahsoka, you are in the far outer edges of the Unknown Regions; at the very border of the galaxy itself. You can't go home.''

The Togruta stared at him. ''But why? I can fix my craft and-''

''That is the problem,'' Miek interjected. ''We had some Jensaari examine your craft and it was found to be beyond repair. The current hyperdrive technology we have isn't strong enough to overcome the disturbance at the Outer Edges.''

''You mean to say...'' she trailed off, but she already knew the answer.
