Chapter Three I don't want to know

Felicity had tried to get a hold of Vienna, but her calls had gone straight to voicemail. So after a quick text, Felicity changed into a pair of blue plaid pajama shorts and a fitted Canadiens' t-shirt decided to update her blog in order to take her mind off of the events downstairs. The blog wasn't exactly well known, but her friends and some other followers did like to read Felicity's rants and tips on how not to break your nose if you fell after landing your long jump. The subject for this one was how to deal when you become part of nature, literally. Felicity figured she'd edit it later to make it more relatable to people who didn't shoot things from their bodies. She was running everything through spell check when Samara came in, without knocking.

"Wow, the bedrooms in normal homes really are tiny." Samara commented as she surveyed Felicity's lilac and pale green room. "I thought it was just mom's old room with her adopted parents."

"Do they not believe in knocking where you come from?" Felicity demanded as she hit save on her laptop and turned her chair to face the red head.

Samara laid down on Felicity's double bed, admiring the different fabrics in the quilt on top. She then moved over to examine the books on Felicity's bedside table. Samara picked up a book about fashion through the ages and frowned.

"This would be really easy to pack up." She continued as if Felicity hadn't spoken. "My mom showed me this really easy packing spell when I was getting ready to go to Red Fountain."

"That's nice," Felicity replied in a tone that implied otherwise. "Except, I'm not going to Alfea. So whatever you have planned, you can stop now."

"Why not though? Your mom was all for it."

"Which I find incredibly strange because she won't even let me get my 'L' or get a job. But suddenly because I sprayed pollen at a guy, she's willing to ship me off to another dimension." Felicity shot back, shutting down her computer for the time being. "She can ship herself off, I'm not going."

"You and your mom are pretty close." Samara observed, ignoring Felicity's tirade. "But you aren't a lot alike, are you?"

Felicity shrugged. "Of course we're close. We're the only family each other has. She just won't let me breathe half the time because she's paranoid that my sperm donor will find us. She does what she can. What about you, aren't you like your mom?"

. "I guess so." Samara replied, pushing a strand of carrot coloured hair from her face. "But we're completely different too. I mean in some ways I wish I was a lot like my mom since she is one of the most powerful fairies in the magical dimension."

Felicity raised one sandy eyebrow at that comment and watched as Samara's pale cheeks flamed the same colour as her hair.

"I'm just going by what other people have said." Samara said defensively. "She has the dragon flame so yeah, I guess she's powerful. But as much power as she has, she's super impulsive and she has a history of giving up easily. I've heard stories of how she'd just run away because things got too hard.

I don't want to be like her in that respect. I hate that she just ran off once because of some guy…."

"But my mom ran off too." Felicity argued. "She could have stayed and fought. I'm sure of it."

"That's different. My mom ran off because she was feeling overwhelmed and once because my dad lied to her about who he was and the fact that he was engaged. Your mom left for Earth because she wanted to keep you safe."

Felicity didn't know what to say to that comment. Although she did make a face about Samara's dad lying to her mom about being engaged, who the hell did that?

"When my mom ran off from Alfea she got her friends in trouble and she left because she felt sorry for herself." Samara explained patiently. "Of course it didn't help matters that the headmistress tends to be a bit of a push over and played favourites since…. Well anyway it is pretty annoying when people think you're going to run off for no good reason."

"This Alfea, mom mentioned it earlier, what do they teach?" Felicity asked, to change the subject.

"I could show you if you wanted." Samara offered "I have a portal mat in my bag."

Before Felicity could ask what Samara meant by a portal mat, a loud crash echoed from downstairs.

"What was that?" Felicity muttered, rushing out of her room with Samara at her heels. The brunette stopped short of the top of the stairs causing the red head to bump into her back.

Samara opened her mouth to complain, but Felicity shushed her as they peered over the railing into the room below. She pointed one finger at the large dog that had cornered her mom near the bookshelves. Flora was inching towards the fireplace. A woman with pale blonde hair and coal black eyes stood near the sofa, watching everything unfold, her red lips were curved in a satisfied smile.

"What is that thing?" Felicity whispered. "And who is that lady with it?"

"That is not something you want to mess with on your own." Samara whispered back, following where Felicity was pointing. "It's dangerous. Or at least its handler is."

The red head pulled her mobile from the pocket of her jeans and sent a quick text, hoping at least one of her friends was in the area heading towards Magix and could help them out.

"It just looks like a large, ugly dog." Felicity argued, moving towards the first step.

"It's more than that, I'll explain later. We just really need to get this woman out of here. Especially if she has one of those pets."

"So, do you have a plan?"

"About as much of one as you did earlier." Samara countered with a grin. "Just get down there and get some information, I'll be right there."

Felicity nodded and turned her attention to the task at hand. For the second time that day she was being forced to leave her comfort zone and become an illogical screamer.

Mustering her courage, Felicity sprang into action, taking the stairs two at a time, jumping before she reached the bottom. Her mouth was dry and her hands were shaking, but Felicity knew she had to do something.

"Hey you!" She tried to shout as she glared at the other woman. Felicity swallowed and tried again. "Get your mutt out of my house!"

Delilah turned and glared at Felicity, "Who the hell are you? I don't want you."

"I could say the same thing about you." Felicity shot back icily. What are you doing here? This is my house."

Delilah just yawned, she wasn't impressed with Felicity's attempt at authority. "Yes I know and you're in my way. I'm looking for someone who has something I want."

"Then put up an ad on Castanet." Felicity suggested acidly, her grey eyes narrowing at the woman. "We don't have anything you'd be interested in."

Delilah smiled coldly at Felicity, her onyx eyes glittering, "Oh, but I think you do. In fact I have it on good authority that the very thing I want is here in your quaint little house."

"I have no idea what you're talking about, now get out of here you're trespassing."

"Not until I get what I came for, now enough with your fake I'm so brave speech and get out of my way." Delilah shouted, shoving Felicity aside to get to Flora. Flora reached for a book and threw it at the blonde who ducked out of the way at the last minute.

"Were you looking for me?" Samara asked, she was standing on the landing, her sword in hand. "I seem to be quite popular today, my mom would be impressed."

Delilah blinked a few times and turned her attention to Samara. "Oh, this will be easier than I thought."

"Don't underestimate me," Samara warned. "Felicity, get your mom out of here and I'll take care of her."

"On it." Felicity replied. She pushed herself out of the chair Delilah had shoved her into and rushed towards her mom.

"That's what you think." Delilah pulled a handful of stones from her pocket and dropped them on the floor. In an instant seven or eight wolf like creatures rose from the stones and circled around Flora and Felicity. "Take care of these ladies my lovelies," The blonde crooned as she turned her attention back to Samara

The small blue wolves began to circle Felicity while nipping at her ankles. When she was pushed up to the window, Felicity saw a chance to escape and pushed the screen out before jumping out and pulling her mom with her. The creatures of course followed her and Flora on to the front lawn.

"How do we get rid of these things?" Felicity asked her mom, worry creeping in to her voice. She wasn't sure if she could manage to summon whatever powers had aided her that afternoon at the mall and only weapon she had on hand was her shoes, but seriously who threw shoes?

"Like this I suppose." Flora threw her arms up in the air and much to the astonishment of her daughter, the older brunette's hair began to grow and her dark green blouse and white jeans were replaced by a flowing ankle length gown in shades of emerald, mint and teal. Gold vine shaped bracelets adorned her upper arms and a matching crown with small emeralds was on her forehead. A pair of shimmering green wings shaped like lilac leaves sprouted from her back

Felicity blinked at the sight. She had never seen her mom look so regal or so pissed off. "Well, that's… new. Since when have you been able to do that?"

"Since I became the guardian of Linphea." Flora replied with a nonchalant attitude, "I don't know how long this form will last though. I haven't transformed in years. I don't even know how well my powers will work since I haven't exactly used them in a while. "

Felicity nodded and stood next to her mom, "Okay then, let's get to work."

Flora placed both of her hands on the ground as three of the blue wolf like creatures lunged in unison. "Nature's entrapment" She whispered as vines sprouted from the ground and entangled the creatures.

Felicity watched on in amazement as her mom used the same type of pollen spores that she'd released on that strange boy at the mall. Instead of causing the creatures to cough and sneeze though, Flora's pollen knocked them out cold.

As Flora and Felicity battled against the creatures on their front lawn, Samara and Delilah were slowly circling one another in the front hallway.

"I've come a long way for this princess, I do hope you aren't going to disappoint me." Delilah snarled as she reached into the pocket of the red leather jacket she was wearing, she pulled out a dark blue crystal hanging from a silver chain and held it in front of her.

"Come a long way for what?" Samara asked clearly confused. "What is it you and that guy from earlier are looking for?"

The onyx eyed girl shook her head as the crystal glimmered once then faded to black. "Obviously nothing around here." She stuffed the crystal back into her pocket then rushed at Samara, knocking them both out the front door and onto the walk. Samara's sword clattered to the ground as she and Delilah fought to regain their footing.

"Well, my pretties, it looks like it was a waste of time." Delilah called to her pets, "You have fun now and come back when you've finished here. We can't have anyone following us."

And with that, Selia vanished in a puff of red smoke, her tracking dog along with her.

With Selia gone, the trio continued to battle the wolf like creatures, but every time they seemed to gain the upper hand, the remaining beasts just grew in size.

"At least there won't be any bodies to clean up." Samara offered as she sliced through another creature with her broadsword.

"Pardon me for not jumping for joy." Felicity shot back as she kicked at the wolf that had been contemplating a sneak attack on her mom as Flora unleashed another round of magic on the strange beasts. Felicity was wondering why none of their neighbours had come out to see what was going on, they had to have been causing some kind of commotion what with jumping out windows and using magic. But everyone just stayed inside unaware to the commotion going on in their neighbourhood. It was as if there was a barrier over the yard

Samara was about to open her mouth to offer encouragement when Flora slumped to the ground without warning. Her guardian fairy outfit slowly melted away and was replaced by her regular clothing.

"Mom? Are you okay?" Felicity asked as she kicked one of the beasts out of the way and kneeling down next to her Flora.

"I guess my strength isn't what it used to be." Flora replied weakly. "I'll be fine in a minute,"

"Don't worry, I called for backup." Samara told them, "and here it is now."

Felicity looked up to see a red ship with the same markings as the one on Samara's jacket land in her front yard. "There goes the neighborhood." She muttered as a girl with her long golden blonde hair slung across her shoulder in a fishtail braid and a boy with spikey cherry colored hair and a scowl on his face stepped off the ship.

"What took you so long?" Samara demanded of the blonde as she jumped from the door.

"Gavin was driving of course." The blonde replied with a roll of her eyes.

Gavin, Felicity guessed, was the scowling boy, he was dressed in the same red t-shirt and black pants as Samara was wearing. He looked like the stubborn know it all type with his eyebrows creased together as he leaned on his sword in her front yard.

"Well, you made it here, so can we socialize later?" Felicity asked. "I believe first we should try and get rid of these… well whatever these things are."

"I'm on it." Gavin replied with a cheeky grin as he pulled a handful of throwing stars from his pocket and aimed them expertly at the wolf creatures. One by one they struck the beasts, causing them to disappear in puffs of red smoke until only one remained. However, just as before, the remaining creature grew until it was the size of a large mountain lion.

"Oh Gav, you missed one." The blonde called out.

Gavin turned to look in the blonde's direction. And that's when the beast decided to strike. Taking advantage of Gavin's momentary distraction, it lunged at the boy, knocking him down and standing on his chest. All Gavin was able to do was hold the blade of his sword against the animal, which was harder than he would have thought.

Without thinking about it, Felicity threw out her hands, causing vines to sprout up from the ground- the same as Flora had- entrapping the wolf. Felicity then moved her arms over her head which in turn caused the vines to throw the creature violently to the ground and knocking it unconscious. It disappeared in a puff of blue sulfurous smoke allowing Gavin to sit up and catch his breath.

"Nice shot." Samara called from her spot near the front steps.

Felicity just looked down at her hands in amazement, "I can't believe I just did that." She said almost to herself.

"I'm very proud of you." Flora whispered from her seat on the grass.

"I'm just in glad that's over." Felicity muttered as Samara and the blonde girl came over to help Flora up and congratulated her on a job well done. "Are these two friends of yours?"

"Yes they are. Felicity, this is Aurora of Solaria." Samara replied, indicating the blonde who was wrinkling her nose at the smell of sulfur the destroyed beasts had left. "And the guy whose neck you saved is Gavin from Melody."

Aurora waved while Gavin just nodded in the general direction of the bushes.

"Well, nice to meet you both. Can we carry this all inside now?" Felicity asked as she helped her mom put an arm around her shoulders. Aurora quickly took Flora's other arm and helped bring the older fairy inside.

"So, how did you end up here? And why couldn't you just head back to Magix on your own?" Aurora asked Samara as she adjusted the strap of her red and gold tank top. They had settled Flora on the couch and were seated around the front room, it could do with a little magical intervention, but all in all it wasn't too bad all things considered.

"I have no idea." Samara replied as she and Felicity surveyed the damage done by Selia and her pets. There were tears in one couch and claw marks on the hardwood floor, but it wasn't anything a quick clean up spell couldn't fix. "One minute I'm heading from Domino to Magix in the portal mom set up, the next thing I know I'm being threatened by some guy who wants my sword and I'm forced to land in a building with an indoor amusement park. Felicity over here helped me."

"Impressive." Aurora remarked with a smile, looking at Felicity. "Are you going to be attending Alfea?"

"And if you are, can you hurry it up?" Gavin added impatiently as he leaned against the wall near the stairs. "We came here because Mara needed bailing out, not to sit around and gossip. Classes start in the morning you know."

Samara opened her mouth to say something, but Felicity beat her to it.

"Look, buddy, I don't know how they do things on your planet, but here in Canada we try to show some patience since it confuses the Americans." The brunette shot back slowly with a touch of ice in her voice. "We also say 'thank you' when someone literally saves our neck."

And with that Felicity gave her mom's shoulder a squeeze and went back up to her room to let Samara tell her friends whatever she wished. She could feel Gavin's eyes on her when she passed him to head up the stairs, but when she furtively glanced back at him, he had his eyes fixed to the floor.

Whew, I have no idea how long that was between updates, but I had a lot to do. Thanks for waiting.

Note: In case you were wondering Castanet is a garage sale and news site here in Canada. The setting is in Alberta so I figured I'd throw it in there.
