"New York.. This is what I wanted.. With Rachel.. My love.." Santana thought in her head as she saw the large state they were approaching from the plane. Rachel and Santana spent a majority of their summer moving, working on their apartment, and finding jobs to help pay for their utilities. Rachel got a job as a sales associate at a clothing store, thanks to her dads backing her up on reference. Santana got a job at a pawn shop across from their apartment, she occasionally sells items but mostly cleans up the place.
"Okay.. I got the clothes unpacked.. Yay!" Santana cheered for a few moments then went to look at the list of things she needed to get done before Rachel got home. "Let's see.. I need to.. Oh! Just do the rest of the dishes, that's easy enough." She said to herself as she walked to the kitchen and started to rinse some of the dishes before putting them in the dishwasher. Rachel loved a clean home to go to when she got off work, and Santana loved it when Rachel would cook her famous 'Kosher Desire' meal, which was really a brown sugar chicken with white rice.
Rachel opened the door to see a clean apartment and a sweaty Santana leaning against the counter, smiling over at her girlfriend.
"San, you didn't have to complete that to-do list today, that was just for the week for US to do." Rachel explained with a smile on her face as she walked towards the exhausted Latina.
Santana pulled Rachel against her "You and I both know that is pure bullshit, and I wanted to do something a bit nice for today of all days." she gave Rachel a gentle kiss on the lips before moving back a couple steps "I also made you something special, well.. It's on my skin so to speak." Santana explained as she took off her tanktop, then turned around to reveal a gold star on her upper back. "I got a gold star tattoo, in honor of you. My gold star." she looked back at Rachel and winked. "Happy Six Month Rach- Oohh.."
Rachel cut off Santana with a kiss on the tattoo. "I love it, and I love you." she adjusted her head to where it was resting on her girlfriend's shoulder "Looks like I need to do something EXTRA special for you tonight, don't I?" Rachel asked calmly.
Normally Santana would be all over the idea of Rachel's lady body against her own, naked and in the sheets, but for some reason, sex was the last thing on her mind. In fact all Santana really wanted to do was give Rachel the best 'Six-Month Anniversary' of her life, and everything that Santana had thought of was waiting to come in to play.
At some point throughout the evening, Santana disappeared, where to was unknown. Rachel was hard at work, getting everything ready for their anniversary dinner. Instead of making the special meal she would normally make, she decided to take a rather traditional route, making a home style breakfast but instead of actual bacon, she used imitation bacon, it didn't taste completely like the bacon that Santana usually has, but beggars can't be choosers.
"How many licks does it take, till you get to the center of a.. Oh Ohh!" Rachel jumped in fear at what she had heard, when she looked across the counter it was Kurt that was calling her. "I thought I asked San NOT to change my damn ringtone again.." she grumbled under her breath as she answered her phone "Hello?"
"Rachel! How's it up in New York?" Kurt asked with such excitement.
Rachel softly chuckled "New York is great, and it's even better with Santana!" she returned the excitement while scanning the cupboards for some spices for the eggs. "When are you gonna join us here?"
"Soon, I am helping Blaine out with the packing, you know, deciding what goes with, what stays here, and what gets shipped at a later date."
Rachel was listening to what Kurt was saying... Sorta, she was more focused on getting dinner done that she forgot she was on the phone for a few moments.
"Then Artie was sayi- Oh my god!" Kurt exclaimed.
"What? What's wrong?" Rachel panicked.
"Why do you need so many scarfs, Blaine?" Kurt asked out loud.
"Because.. Why do you need all those hats?" Blaine retorted.
Rachel couldn't hold back any laughter that she was feeling from the conversation "Okay, I am gonna get back to cooking. You two finish your argument then call me on Skype when you can. Love you both, bye." she hung up. Rachel walked over to the cutting board, taking some potatoes that were in the bag beside the board. "Okay.. Shredded strips, not squares." she began to cut at the potatoes.
After a while of cooking, and perfect plating, Rachel had finished making dinner. The dining room looked amazing in terms of romance, the table had a couple of lavender scented Glade candles, one in front of each plate. The light was dimmed low enough to where the candles would have an affect, but enough to see around the house if needed. Now.. It's complete.. Right? What could possibly be missing? Other than Santana at one end of the table.. Rachel looked down at what she was wearing, widened her eyes due to her realizing that she had yet to change into something nice. In a swift motion she dashed towards their sleeping area, scanning her wardrobe for some decent looking outfit. With her luck she found the perfect dress to wear for the occasion.
DING~
"Rachel, meet me at the rooftop of our apartment building. If you made dinner, pack it up in a picnic basket and bring it with you." Santana's text said. Rachel did what Santana asked, although she was a bit irked that the hard work she put into plating went kaput, she wanted to see what Santana had in mind for them. Rachel walked up the stairs with the basket in hand, she stopped at the door and softly sighed "Okay Santana.. Let's see what you have planned for us." she gulped then opened the door.
A soft a capella instrumental of Frankie J's More Than Words, and the person behind the vocals was the beautiful Santana Lopez, sporting a pair of denim capri's, a blue and purple t-shirt, and a black vest to top off the outfit. Kurt and Blaine were harmonizing in the background, Kurt took the basket, placing it on the mat that Santana had laid out prior. Santana held on to Rachel, and started to dance with her. Throughout the song Santana had kept as close as she could, after all, this was their day and there was no reason why Rachel shouldn't be close to Santana.
Once the song was over, Kurt and Blaine left the roof, making sure the door was locked behind them at Santana's request. Rachel sat at one end of the blanket, nervously eating her portion but also keeping her eyes focused on the other woman. Santana wasn't entirely hungry though, but she shrugged that feeling off and ate some food.
"Okay, I don't get it. You've done more for me on our six month than I have, it's unfair that you spoil me Santana." Rachel playfully whined, then rested one hand on Santana's shoulder. "I don't even have a gift for you, or have really done anything outside of cooking dinner.."
Santana lightly waved her hand "Berry, calm yourself." she said in a soft tone. "The fact you're with me after how much of a bitch I was to you, is more than enough. Tonight is about you, well us, but mainly you, and I am going to make sure tonight ends on a good note."
"And how are you going to do that?" Rachel winked at Santana, slowly trailing her hands towards her girlfriend's lap. "Are you gonna get.." she lightly bit her lip, giving Santana a seductive look "..Wanky?" she whispered.
A gulp and a nod was the response Santana gave in return, without even doing anything Rachel was somehow able to get Santana in the mood. But luckily, Santana was able to shake that off for a few moments. "B-But first, I got one more gift for you. Then we can get all sorts of wanky."
Rachel gasped then pouted with a whimper in her voice "Stop spoiling me Santana, it's gonna make me feel like a bad girlfriend!" she exclaimed.
Santana pulled out a smaller box, not the size of a ring, but it was a small box. "Here." Santana handed Rachel the box, biting her lower lip ever so nervously.
"W-What could it be?" Rachel thought to herself, opening the box to see a gold necklace with an engraved plate that says "My Funny Girl, Rachel Berry." Rachel's lips quivered a bit as a tear fell "I-It's perfect.." she set the box down then lifted her hands over her face, and began to cry.
Santana, quickly crawling to Rachel, moving her hands and gently kissing her on the lips. Rachel wrapped her arms around Santana's waist, her quivering lips slowly stopped, and she returned the kiss. For those moments, they just held onto each other, enjoying the night sky, and embracing their love for each other. Rachel gave Santana a curious look as one hand went towards Santana's waist, she moved a bit closer to Santana and kissed the corner of her lips.
"Rache.."
"Yes.."
"If Broadway never accepts you as Fanny Brice, just remember this.. You'll always be my Funny Girl.. Understand?" Santana grabbed Rachel's hand and held it to her heart. She wasn't always the greatest at pulling off romantic lines, or anything too mushy, but with Rachel.. It was different, as if anything romantic she could glance at in mind, she could make sound great.
Rachel sniffled once then giggled at Santana's words "That is the dorkiest, yet most adorable thing you have ever said to me.." she expressed softly. "Yes, I understand.. I'm always your Funny Girl." Rachel answered before leaning in for a kiss once more.
The sun was up, it was early morning in New York, and the couple are sleeping on the rooftop. Santana was partially on top of Rachel, their bodies covered by a comforter as they slept snug on the picnic blanket. Kurt had took it upon himself(since Blaine was passed out on the living room couch) to go check on Rachel and Santana, in his hands were drink carriers since he made some coffee. He unlocked the door, then walked out to see his roommates' clothes scattered around them.
"Okay.. I love you both, but I'm sure it would have been safer to screw in the apartment.." Kurt rolled his eyes as he walked over to them, placing the drinks over by the containers that still had most of the food in them. "Hey." Kurt called out, but no response, just quiet snoring. Kurt growled under his breath, inhaled then yelled "Hey!" at the top of his lungs, causing Santana and Rachel to wake up rather fast.
"What! What did I do!" Santana exclaimed, quickly looking left then right a few times, then looked up at Kurt whom was laughing a bit at her reaction. "Fuck you, Hummel.. I think you scared the Latina out of me.." she started to pout a bit.
Rachel pulling the blanket up a bit, she sat up and held on to Santana with her free hand. "What's up Kurt? Also I thought you were in Lima, with Blaine.. Like what the hell happened?" Rachel questioned as she traced her hand against Santana's spine.
Kurt chuckled softly "Blaine and I were already here, we stayed with Quinn at her dorm for a few days while Santana got everything organized." he explained as he grabbed the drink carrier. "She was getting our stuff unpacked without you realizing it, and it was the perfect surprise too, was it not?"
Rachel couldn't help but crack a smile at the thought. Mostly because it was the perfect surprise, everything was just that.. Perfect, and Rachel had it all, two of her best friends in New York, and more importantly, the love of her life, leaning against her.
Later throughout the day, Rachel and Santana got all cleaned up and made various preparations for clothes shopping. Trying to find a store that had good clothes, but at a better price so-to-speak. Not only were they getting things for themselves but also for Kurt and Blaine. Which in itself is a drag because for Kurt, it needs to be just right, otherwise he'll complain, and complain til your ears commit suicide.
Santana decided to venture off on her own in case there was anything SHE wanted as opposed to the rest of the group. For the most part though, she didn't find much, in fact, she didn't find a thing for herself. She saw good deals on some iPhone cases at least, but again, none that were her style. Speaking of things that weren't her style, she saw a specific giant browsing around a rather girly section of the store she was at. "Yo! Frankenteen! I can spot those man-boobs from a mile away." she called out with a giggle.
Finn quickly turned with a slight blush "Oh, Santana.. I didn't expect to see you here." he softly chuckled and rubbed his arm nervously. "How's life?"
"Life is great." Santana walked to Finn, resting her head against his shoulder. "You wouldn't believe how happy Rachel makes me.." she shyly confessed. "How are things with you and Quinn?"
The taller man smiled half way "Things with me are awesome, as for Quinn, not sure. She dumped me after graduation." he explained as he started to walk. Finn placed one hand on Santana's shoulder to take her along with him. "So, I started to rethink my life a bit, and realized my relationships with women never really worked out."
Santana stopped for a second "Wait, did you change from Flubber to the Pillsbury Gay Boy?" she asked feeling slightly worried about the outcome of his answer.
"No!" he started to laugh "I am just saying, my relationships have all failed, so like.. I am just going to focus on my needs. You know?" he continued to explain.
Santana nodded once "That doesn't explain why you are in the woman's section."
"Oh!" Finn lightly hit his head with his palm "I wanted to get my mom some perfume for her birthday, since it's coming up." he explained. "But I couldn't figure out what perfume she'd like.. Hey, you're a woman." Finn pointed out obviously.
"Wait, what!?" exclaimed Santana as she looked at her body. "I specifically requested a penis the second I got my flannel from the lesbians of lesbians club." she said with sarcasm then looked back at Finn. "Yes, I am a woman, and yeah I will help you with getting a gift for Mama Hudson-Hummel."
Kurt and Blaine were fixing up a big dinner for the apartment, of course knowing Kurt, they were all organic foods. Rachel didn't mind it though, she was just happy that for once she didn't have to cook. She kicked up her feet on the couch, gently leaning against the arm rest and started to catch up on reading.
Santana slid the door open, doing a slight pose as if she was on the runway. "The sexiest piece of ass has returned to her kingdom, and sporting a lovely new coat." she spoke out while gently popping her collar.
Kurt turned and gasped in amazement "Oh my god, that looks great on you!" he ran to Santana, admiring the way the leather formed on her. "How in the hell were you able to afford this?" he asked.
"Well, I sorta, kinda, maybe.. Used Rachel's employee discount at the store she worked at, and also borrowed like $80 from her to help pay a majority of the jacket.." Santana shyly confessed.
Rachel's eyes widened a bit "You did what!?" she exclaimed as she slammed her book shut. "Why didn't you ask for the cash for one, and for two why did you use my discount, kinda put me at risk at my job you know."
Unfortunately for Rachel, Santana was good at faking sadness, like REALLY good at it. So Santana decided to tear up, and to give her girlfriend the most broken hearted look ever. Her breath was shaky, and her lips started to quiver. Safe to say, this Latina was not holding back. "I just.. You said.. Last night you said you wanted to get me a gift, and that you were tired of me spoiling you.." she whined a bit. "I didn't mean to be b-bad.." Santana covered her face and started to sob into her hands.
For a few moments there was nothing but the sound of Santana's sob, until..
"Aww.. My baby." Rachel got up and quickly ran to Santana, she then hugged her girlfriend's head. "I'm sorry for getting mad at you.." she said as she rubbed Santana's back "You look flawless in that jacket, no different than how you normally look.."
"Y-You really think so?" Santana looked up at Rachel with teary eyes.
Rachel nodded "I know so."
"God you two are so whipped for each other, what's next? A scene from the Notebook?" Kurt bellowed out while walking back to the kitchen. "Seriously though, you two are a cute couple, and I am glad we are all living together." he grabbed some plates then walked to the kitchen table, setting the plates down.
The group chowed down on dinner, making idle conversations amongst each other, laughing and having a good time, almost like a family. When it came down to living arrangements, Kurt and Blaine opt to sleep in the living area until they get a bed for their own area, in which Rachel and Santana agreed to the idea. Towards the later part of the night, Kurt and Blaine had went to sleep, Rachel had showered and was laying in bed reading the same book from before. Santana was drying her hair, adoring how Rachel looked in her night gown, she started to walk towards Rachel, swaying her hips slowly.
"You know, you could put some clothes on." Rachel smirked over at Santana.
Santana chuckled some "I ain't got nothing to hide from Travolta and Olivia-Newton John over on the couch, and it's not like I am naked, I am at least wearing the special underwear you bought me for my birthday a couple months back."
"Haha.." the diva retorted. "You're lucky you can pull off red, otherwise I'd have a little problem with you in your underwear." Rachel expressed as she turned a page in her book.
Santana hopped on the bed, tossing the towel aside, curled up against Rachel under the blanket. "Besides, you're not one to criticize me Ms. I-Stand-On-My-Soapbox-Not-Realizing-My-Girlfriend-Can-Tell-She's-Wearing-Nothing-Under-Her-Gown." Santana teasingly pressed her face against the side of Rachel's breast.
Rachel rolled her eyes, setting her book on the nightstand then turned off the lamp. "Good night Santana." she yawned and closed her eyes.
Santana did the same, but moved her hand towards Rachel's shoulder, making sure they were close.
"Good night, my Funny Girl.."
