Chapter 3: Resebool and Automail

So, I finally got the motivation to update this! I have to start from scratch, but that's okay! Here is chapter 3! Sorry again for the extremely long wait guys!

The three of us got off the train and made our way to someplace… I wasn't entirely sure. Edward had said he had friends here, as this is the town that he and his brother grew up in, and where he had gotten his automail As we walked, I noticed Edward glancing at me, as if watching me to make sure that I would be okay in the long run traveling the distance. I faced the road and just followed like a loyal dog to its master. I was grateful that they were doing this for me, helping me in such a selfless way. After the trip in silence, we approached a yellow house, and there were two people outside. One was a fairly young girl, about Edward's age, and she wore a tan jumpsuit, but the top half was tied around her waist; her hair was a pale blond, just like mine, and she had it tied in a pony tail with strips hanging down the side. Then, an older woman stood by her side, and she was short, her gray hair tied in a puny bun and a tobacco pipe in her mouth.

"Welcome home!" I heard the girl yell; the older woman watched me with an unrecognizable look on her face, but I figured it was odd for them to be bringing a stranger here to them. Edward waved, stopping in his tracks. He looked to me, and then spoke for the first time through the entire trip to the house.

"Destiny, I… I want to get your arm back for you, so at least let me do this, alright You cant go around with just one arm, am I right?" I nodded in agreement, and followed him and his brother once they began to walk again. When we got in the house with the other two, introductions were in place; the younger was Winry, Edward's automail mechanic; and her grandmother Pinako. We sat down and had a conversation, not that I really wanted to.

"So, you're the alchemist that went missing… You still look like a teenager you know." Pinako watched me as I placed my hand on the table. I could sense Edward get fairly stiff, wondering what I was going to say, but what could I say? I have never looked my age? If these were the people that were going to be doing this automail surgery, then they had a right to know who was in their house.

"I had a confrontation with an old associate… In the end, I lost my old human life… He made me into a vampire. Before you think-"

"I could tell what you were; I have had my fair share being involved in the supernatural world, you know." Pinako watched all of us, and I wasn't sure of what to really make of what she said. She didn't think I was crazy? This was honestly a first for me.

"So, you don't think I'm a complete nutcase? Wow… But, anyway… I don't even remember how it happened, how I turned or how I lost my arm. At the time, I was too lost to my old self; I had concealed myself from the outside world, and I finally went back to the military to ask for help. I didn't know what to do when it came to what had happened… I had nowhere else to go…" I could feel tears attempting to escape my eyes, but I held them back and continued.

"I just want to be normal again… And I am determined to find a way to get my humanity back, no matter what it really takes to get me to that point." I watched the two that were hearing my story, and I couldn't see any source of fear on their face. In my mind, they should have been scared, they should have sent me on my way and told Edward not to have anything to do with me, but they didn't. They looked rather serious though, as though they knew why Edward had chose to bring me here of all places.

"So, I take it you are here to get automail, so that you can have your arm back?" I nodded in response, no words able to come from my lips. Edward watched me as I stared at Pinako for the longest time; she took a few puffs from her pipe and spoke up.

"Then that is what you are going to get; its not an easy operation by far, but with your immense healing skills, there should be no problem for recovery time along with therapy. I think you could be just like Ed; you could be fully recovered in a years time or less. I think that you should rest for now, and we can get automail made after we fit you with a port tomorrow." With that, I thanked them to no end and Edward brought me to his room in the house. I sat on the small bed, looking around at the room; there was nothing there but a bed and a lamp.

"Destiny, do you need blood?" he asked. I fought the urge to say yes, but I knew I would. I hadn't had any in the past two days, and I was feeling the effects. My body was beginning to go stiff, desiccation setting in in the muscles. I had noticed how hard it was to make my way here, but I didn't want to take his blood; I felt as though I could end up with his dead body in my arms. He sat next to me and offered his flesh wrist. I brought it to my mouth, hesitantly.

"You have to drink something, you know. Don't need you starving on my watch. I can tell you when to stop; you know you don't want to hurt me." With that, my fangs erupted and embedded in his wrist, earning a hiss from his mouth. I cant imagine that the fangs piercing his skin felt too good; I can at least remember they didn't feel good when they pierced my neck. I could sense his pulse, his breathing deepen, and then his metal hand stroke my hair and his voice promting me to let go. It was fairly easy to release him at that point, and I licked the drops of the scarlet life force from my lips. The next day I would be in a lot of pain from the port installation, but who was I to really know? I could only rely on what I was being told. Ed left me in his room to rest up for the next day.

It took the two three hours to install the port and make sure that it was right with a dummy arm. I noticed that I could flex the fingers, so apparently it was right. I walked around the next three days, waiting for my personal arm to be built. Winry took the measurement and began to build my new arm. I stood on the porch the first day, watching the sky; I had also heard Edward on the phone multiple times with Roy in those three days. He had told him not to try and find us, that he would be perfectly fine and he would bring me back to central once I was fully recovered. I knew Roy better than that; he would track the call, he would come regardless of what the young alchemist was telling him. But, I had hoped that Ed had convinced him to just stay away for the time being.

On the fourth day, the arm was installed, and I would have to wait a week or so to actually be able to start the therapy to rehabilitate my prosthetic limb. Edward had continued feeding me his blood, despite the fact that I didn't care much for it in the first place; I hated having to keep taking his blood and making him weak… I stood on the porch, and then I saw three figures walking up the walkway, and I felt my body go ridged with fear… There, only five hundred feet or so from the house, stood Roy, Riza and Hughes, and it was clear that they saw me when they began to move. I made my way into the house, and Edward noticed that I seemed worried and came over to me, looking out the door to see what had caused my slight panic. He then made his way onto the porch, shutting me in the house. It was then I heard the confrontation…

"She's not going anywhere, you know…" Ed's voice sounded dangerous, and I could hear Roy growl in anger… Riza was trying to talk some sense into Ed, but he wasn't listening to her reasoning.

"She isn't dangerous! She may have looked it, but she was scared then! She's been fine lately…"

"What has she been feeding on, FullMetal If she is a vampire, then what's her source for nutrients?" I could hear Edward go silent at that statement, and I looked out the window. Roy had Edwards flesh wrist, as there were no marks on his neck, and moved his coat sleeve to find the bandage that he had put there this morning.

"She cannot stay here if ou are going to be here damn walking bloodbag!" Roy yelled. At this point, I was glad that Winry and Pinako had gone into town… They didn't know that Edward was feeding me with his own blood. It was then that Roy opened the door and glared at me; my body went rigid as I moved to the corner, afraid to meet his gaze. He hadn't always been this cold, I knew that much; it was ishval that had changed him, the reason why I had left him…

**Flashback**

I walked into Roy's tent to see him with a flask containing bourbon… The longer we were on the battlefield, the colder his heart turned and the more he drank. The next time I had come to find him, I saw him with a young brunette solider making love in his tent, and many times after that. Rather than lay a hand on me, he turned to the other women to curb his sexual desires. I ran from his tent, and he followed me, yankig his pants over his waist,

"Destiny! Stop!" I ignored him, running anywhere but where he was until I was too tired to run. He caught me, turning me to face him, and I glared at him; his heart seemed to stop.

"NO! You don't get to tell me what to do! I will not sit here like I don't see whats going on with you Mustang! I don't want to be the last resort for you, I don't want to be just some one night stand to you either, and I cant take this on and off relationship that we have going! Ishval, its made you change, and I don't like that change…" I slapped him and moved to my tent, leaving him stunned. It was that night that I had also gotten turned, and he had lost me forever. **End Flashback**

His eyes were just as cruel as his flame alchemy; they burnt through me with an intent to kill for feeding on one of his subordinates in order to survive, especially a teenager. At this point, the others were watching as he stared at me, and I turned my head to avoid the fiery glare; but he came up to me and made my eyes meet his.

"What took you so long to even come back? It's been five years, Destiny… I thought you were dead…" I could see in his eyes the lost emotions of years of harsh battle; the lust, the love, and the appeal that he had once seen in me; sure, we had been a few years apart, but age didn't matter, right? I coudnt say anything, just stare into his eyes and then his thoughts were clear to me. I jumped back. (A/N: Telepathy is written in italics!)

How can I still feel this way about someone I just found out is permenantly dead? She didn't want me in her life after the incidents in Ishval, so why would she want me here now for her? At least… I know that someone can keep her under control… god, she's still as beautiful and intoxicating as the day I first saw her in the academy…

"No, Roy… Don't… I cant think straight with those thoughts in your head! GOD!" I said, fear and anger clear on my face. I could see him go pale at my statement, and I knew he wanted to know what was wrong. "I loved you in Ishval… I loved you before then, too… Until you threw it all away for the sake of your own desires… I'm not rekindling old flames, I am not rejoining the military, and after this you wont have to put up with me and my screwed up life, alright?" I moved away, and he grabbed me arm, turning me back to face him

"Answer me…"

"I didn't want you guys to see the monster I had become after Ishval! I was broken, inside and out… I didn't know what to think, who to turn to, so I stayed away, secluded, so to prevent you from thinking that I was a monster! That's how you saw me the night I showed up in Central… I looked like a monster to you; different then the last time you saw me… you were my last resort when I lost my arm; I couldn't sit there and do nothing…" My stare was cold again, and I heard his heart jump. My fangs had begun to protrude from my gums, even though I had just fed; my eyes growing darker, almost black, with anger towards the alchemist blocking my path. I moved away, and mumbled to Ed as I passed that I would be in his room. With that the door slammed.

"FullMetal…" Roy said. I could hear the conversation clear as day.

"You guys were romantically involved, huh? Wow, no wonder she didn't trust you… You really pissed her off." I heard the chair scraping against the floor, and then another, and another as everyone sat at the table.

"You could say that… she really has changed… She didn't used to be so demanding, so cold…"

"I'm sure you were the same way once; killing people in cold blood will do that to someone I guess… Look, I'm making progress with her, Mustang. She won't kill me; she doestn want to kill, she just needs someone to help her gain her full potential control. I've medled in God's territory, and honestly, I think that she is best here where she can gain control and focus on her well being…" Edward sighed, tipping the chair onto two legs.

"Why are you letting her feed on you though, Ed? It's still dangerous…" I could hear Riza, her voice delicate but stern in this conversation. Hughes just stayed out of it.

"What should I do, just let her starve? Blood bags are needed her, but Winry and granny only get so much for transfusions; I'd rather see her feeding on a replenishable source of nutrients. I recover pretty fast if she feeds for short periods in a day… Don't give me that look, Mustang… I'll do everything I can to help her, and when she is ready, she can go her own way or do whatever she chooses… I'm not her body guard, I'm not her lover… Im her confident."

"I hope you know what you are doing, fullmetal… Maybe as her confident, you can convince her to join us now I'll drop the whole romantic side… I hurt her, and I get that… I hurt her more than once with my stupid ass; and I'm not asking her forgiveness, I just… We want answers…" With that, I made my way at hyper-speed downstairs. It put everyone in shock

"I'm a vampire, not stupid… I could hear everything." I sat on the counter and watched them. "When I woke up that night, a new vampire, everything was fuzzy; the only link I had to my sire was a note; and it was my fault. I toyed with someone's emotions, and then fought for your love, Roy… When my sire had realized how broken you had left me, he took advantage of that… He turned me and that was when I took life to sustain my own… The memories are foggy, as I would much rather forget my past and focus on my future and restoring my humanity… But, I was lost and confused. I didn't want you to think that I was just running away from you, but how could I just come back like nothing happened when I had so much blood on my hands?"

"Destiny, we all had blood on our hands…" Hughes said, sending me an apologetic gaze. I could only shake my head. "Not as much as I did… I-" I heard a scream and ran to the door and saw Winry and Granny being held by two people… But they weren't people… Their eyes were red, fangs protruding far longer than mine out of their lips… How much danger had I just put my mechanics in?

A/N: Chapter 3 straight from scratch! This is going to get really interesting form here on out… Again, I am really sorry for the delayed updates!
