Chapter Two
Hannah was typing away at her computer when she heard hushed whispering coming from down below her window. Saving her progress, she curiously went to see what was up. Embry usually either threw a pebble at her window to get her attention, or just came in himself, so she was wondering what he was whispering about. She opened the window.
"Go away, Jared!" He half-whispered, half-yelled as Hannah peered down.
"Hi, you two," she said happily, surprised at seeing Jared.
"Hi," Embry replied, although he didn't seem too happy as he was still glaring at his unwanted guest.
"Howdy, Hannah!" Jared said, not at all trying to whisper.
"SHUSH," Embry said. "You're going to wake her whole neighborhood!"
"You're just worried I'll wake her parents and then her dad will murder you probably," Jared replied.
"Is Kim still on vacation?" Hannah asked.
"Yes," Jared replied glumly. "I'm really bored," he looked from Embry to Hannah. "And sad," he turned to Embry. "And lonely," he turned his head back to face Hannah, "and bored and-"
Hannah giggle slightly and Embry looked like he wanted to break Jared's nose.
"And I really, really, really-" Jared paused for a moment as Embry let out a low growl, "reallyreallyreallywanttohangoutwithmycoolandawesomefriendsbecauseIhavenothingelsetodoandI'llbesoooooooborediftheywon'tletme," he finished very quickly before turning to look up at Hannah, knowing full and well that if she said yes, Embry wouldn't question it. Hannah stepped away from her window to give the two boys enough room to enter.
Once they were in her room, Jared looked around for a bit and Embry sulked as Hannah wrapped her arms around his waist. "He's not so bad," she smiled. Embry grunted in response, but put his hands around Hannah's waist, and she noticed the corners of his mouth twitch up.
Jared hopped in the air and landed in the middle of Hannah's bed. The bed loudly creaked under his sudden weight and Hannah worried for a moment it might have woken her parents. "Ya know what we should do?" he said.
"You should go back to the rez," Embry answered, shooting a glare Jared's way. He loved his brothers, but he wasn't too pleased with the beta of the pack's idea to tag along on his visits with his imprint, and he was pretty annoyed Hannah seemed okay with it.
Completely ignoring him, Jared continued, "We should play cards!"
"Okay," Hannah shrugged. "I think there's a deck downstairs somewhere. I'll be right back."
As Hannah left, Embry continued to glare daggers at Jared, and Jared smiled dopily back at Embry, knowing full and well his happy-go-lucky attitude was only further fueling the fire.
"You know who's good at card games?" He asked Embry. Embry didn't answer. He just continued to glare. "Quil. We should invite him over."
Embry balled up his fist and Jared had a black eye when Hannah returned with the cards.
"What game do y'all have in min- What happened to your eye?" she questioned.
"Doesn't matter. It'll be gone in a few minutes," Jared replied.
They were all laying on the floor, and about five rounds of Go Fish later, Hannah was starting to become visibly tired.
Jared stretched himself out and yawned. "It's getting late. We should probably get going, Embry."
"You're going to get going. I'm going to stay," was Embry's reply, still staring daggers at his friend, not because he tagged along, but also because he beat him twice.
"You know just as well as I do that Sam wants us up early for patrols," Jared said back with a smirk.
"Ugh!" Embry let out a frustrated groan at the reminder and slammed his head to the carpet. "You're so annoying!"
"It's a gift."
"You really should get going," Hannah said while placing one hand on Embry's back and gathering the cards with her other. "You need your rest."
Sighing, Embry lifted himself off the floor and looked at Jared. "Out," he said, pointing to the window.
"Well, Hannah, thanks for letting me hang out with you guys. I'll see you soon, probably at the bonfire Monday night, right?" He waited for Hannah to nod. "Bye!" he said, slowly making his way to the window while still turned around facing Hannah and Embry. "Adios! Au Revoir! Ciao! See you later, alligator! In a while croc-"
"Out! Out, out, out, out, out," Embry said as he physically pushed Jared towards the window and half-pushed him out.
"Ow-fine, but I'm waiting for you, because I'm scared of the dark."
"You. Can. See. In. The. Dark!" Embry once again half-whispered and half-yelled.
"Just hurry! I'm lone-"
The rest of Jared's sentence was cut off when Embry closed the window a little too forcefully.
"Stop giggling," Embry said as he turned to face Hannah, but he was smiling.
"It wasn't so bad," Hannah smiled sweetly. "At least he's entertaining. He makes people laugh."
Embry groaned, but his smile remained. He pulled Hannah into a hug by her waist and placed a warm kiss on the top of her head.
"You should really get going," Hannah said, with a small hint of sadness in her voice. "I know how tired you all are. You and Jared both need the rest, especially with patrol tomorrow morning."
Embry pulled away from her, yet he didn't movie his feet. His hands trailed down her arms, causing her slight goose-bumps, until he encased her hands in his. "I don't want to leave you."
Hannah blinked slowly and nodded once, as if to say "I know, and I don't want you to leave either" but Embry knew she was right. He opened the window once more, but before he crawled down, he said, "Tomorrow's Saturday, after my patrol I'll take you out for coffee, just the two of us, and we can go down to La Push beach, and go hiking. Just the two of us, all day."
Hannah smiled sweetly, "It's a date," she said. She kissed him hard on his cheek goodbye and closed the window.
She crawled into bed, so tired she almost immediately fell asleep.
The last thing she heard was a yelp as Embry slapped Jared on the back of the head.
Okay, so this was my attempt at a humorous chapter. Not really too sure how it came across, if I'm being honest. This was my first time writing Jared for more than a few sentences and I tried really hard to get his personality right. How did I do? I tried to use his humor to my advantage but I'm scared he just came across as rude/annoying. Reviews and helpful criticism are always welcomed!
Also, I changed up the prologue a bit. Hannah and her family now live in Forks, not La Push.
Woo! So I got the first chapter of this story rewritten, the prologue rewritten, and a whole new chapter written, and well as a rewritten chapter for my other story, all within three hours! I hope they are good...
