I honestly hadn't intended on coming back to this story. Labyrinth hasn't inspired me in ages, but a recent review asked for a synopsis of how this fic was supposed to end, and since the full format written ending isn't likely to happen I shall acquiesce. I don't know how much of this would have been chapters, glossed over, fully fleshed out, or changed around in order. I honestly hadn't thought out all of Jareth's past loves fully.
If the story had continued, Sarah would have continued down the path of seeing Jareth's life...
Teaching himself to travel to the human world Jareth meets his next crush on Earth. But Nerzel forbids the relationship, and has Kaiaraki go to the human world to kill her.
Kaiaraki confesses the act to Jareth, simultaneously renouncing the sword. Enraged Jareth decides to confront his father.
Jareth "blacks out" during the fight - his human side taking over to clash magic.
Sarah goes back to the Labyrinth itself to hear the details. Nerzel intervened to save Jareth from his own magic destroying him. Nerzel died and Jareth is unconscious for several days.
Jareth sees the intense changes the Labyrinth has undergone. Most of the Labyrinth is no longer hospitable, and black ink abounds. The intellectually older goblins mostly choose to leave the labyrinth and live outside the goblin city.
Jareth formally meets the Labyrinth, who now resembles the older Hayley, but Jareth refuses to listen to her.
Then Jareth begins to notice his mother aging. (Her lifespan was held in stasis by Nerzel's magic.)
As she ages they seek medical help in the human world, Jareth forced to introduce him mother as his grandmother. Jareth forms an attachment to one of his mother's nurses, who is suspicious about their lack of insurance, medical history, or the fact that he's paying medical bills all in cash (magically created).
After his mother's death, Jareth tries to tell the nurse the truth, but she thinks it's hysteria from his mother's death.
While in mourning Kaiaraki gives Jareth the chest of his mother's things. One is a dream crystal Nerzel made of her dreams. Jareth redesigns the magic tower to give the crystal a place of honour, before placing the crystals of the four girls he's loved below it.
The Labyrinth reaches out to try and comfort Jareth, but he rages at her until the ink appears, and the labyrinth retreats. He accuses Sarah of being the Labyrinth trying to trick him by taking a different form and becomes hostile towards her too.
Sarah retreats to the Labyrinth again, and has a cry before going back to Jareth's mind.
Life continues, and Jareth recovers. A runner arrives in the labyrinth and actually flirts with Jareth. He is pleased, even tries to help her, extending her time in return for kisses. When time runs out she agrees to become a goblin, deciding that magical life suits her, but dumps Jareth hard an fast afterwards, laughing that becoming immortal was her plan all along.
Spending time in the human world Jareth befriends a simple girl, but she marries a childhood sweetheart.
At a birthday ball, Jareth meets a woman who was already a goblin. The two seem to hit it off. She moves into the castle, but spends long hours going through the labyrinth to catch fairies. Jareth thinks it to be an innocent amusement until he finds that she uses the fairies to hallucinate new dreams, a type of addiction. Jareth "blacks out".
Labyrinth informs Sarah that Jareth black's ideas about the labyrinth mostly come from this confrontation. Believing that goblins destroy human dreams, rather than create them.
Another runner, this one a single mother. Jareth is moved to pity, but despite his best efforts she remains afraid of him. When she fails he offers her he chance to stay in her child's place, but she refuses. Jareth shows mercy, letting her forget her baby, but never sees her again.
Jareth visits his mother's grave, meeting a morose girl. He comes back to the human world often to see her, even spending an intimate night together. But after Jareth chooses to reveal his true self, after telling her what he is capable of she takes a crystal to help her see her own dreams rather than anything else Jareth tries to offer her. She later takes her own life.
Finally Jareth begins to remember Sarah. First as just a gentle fascination, but growing more obsessed, especially after the Halloween party. Then he reveals the moment that Ludo was created, his wish to be something that Sarah could learn to love.
The fairy brings both Jareth and Sarah into the mind of the Labyrinth where a human Ludo is waiting. (Jareth as a GINGER!) And they are able to recombine.
Jareth Black is awakened in the Labyrinth's mind. White and Black are equals again. They clash for control, unwilling to recombine, unable to outdo each other.
Sarah makes her wish - to help Jareth become whole. The fairy awakens Sarah's magical ability, and she paints a way to victory. Black is subdued, reabsorbed into the now complete Jareth.
The labyrinth thanks Sarah. Explains how she can set everything right now that she has both human and goblin magic to draw upon, even reviving the goblins Jareth killed, and recommends that Sarah journey home.
Sarah refuses. Reiterating her claims to love everything about the labyrinth, now emphasising how much she has fallen in love with Jareth.
In an epilogue, Jareth awakens months later to find Sarah has been travelling back and forth between the labyrinth and the human world with her new magic. Sarah then confesses to finding herself in love with all of his separate parts, so it's good that they've recombined and no part of Jareth is left out, as they eagerly share their kiss.
Also - Kaiah and Didymus get together.
There, now you all know the ending and can stop asking me to write more of a story that I lost interest in.
