Chapter Four: Dangerous Liaisons
Summary: Teiko High is receiving two new members. But will the boys find happiness in their new school or hell on earth?
Silence filtered throughout the homely mansion as a somber duo trudged in the hallways. The light of day was still visible, and carved out their bodies on the walls next to the boys.
Kuroko kept touching his hair, fondling it the way the purple-haired giant had. He liked feeling fingers through his hair, he realized, and combed over and over until the blue locks straightened and fell against his pale face.
Kagami watched his brother from the corner of his eyes with what looked akin to suspicion. The older teen didn't like the idea of his brother growing attached to anyone but him. The red-head hesitantly put his hand next to Kuroko's, feeling the softness of the hair with rough fingers.
Kuroko looked at his brother in wonder. "Aniki..." he started, but trailed off when he saw his brother's face. The older looked determined as he combed his brother's hair. Kuroko fought back a wince, reveling in the new feeling.
"What is it?" Kagami suddenly asked, fingers pausing. "Why..."
Kuroko looked up, hearing his brother's unspoken question. "I like it. When someone touches my hair. I find that it soothes me very much."
"A-and... I can do it too?"
Tetsuya almost smiled at his older brother's nervousness before grabbing the latter's hand and weaving it through his own. Kagami blinked in surprise at the hand-holding but smiled wildly nonetheless. He resembled a wolf with his haunches out, but Kuroko preferred this smile- it was genuine.
Tetsuya squeezed his brother's hand. "You're the only one who can do it."
Kagami seemed to grin bigger before wrapping an arm around his brothers, placing a large hand on Tetsuya's head to caress the blue locks. Kuroko smiled at his brother and leaned into the embrace.
"What are you two up to?" they suddenly heard from in front of them.
Kagami was instinctively on alert in the house, so adding a sudden vocal entrance like that was enough to put him on edge. The older teen grabbed his younger brother and thrust him into the wall, protectively standing in front of him.
Kazuna Akashi watched with interest as the red-haired monster enfolded the smaller boy in his body, making the latter seem invisible between the wall and him. She almost laughed at Kuroko's surprised expression before she saw Kagami's almost animatistic one.
"Hey," she cooed, making her presence known.
Taiga's gaze snapped to hers, watching her every move calculating. She put both hands up, carefully walking closer.
"I'm not gonna hurt you. I'm sorry if I scared you both," she offered a serene smile with her motherly voice. The teens visibly relaxed, but only enough for their shoulders to come away from their ears. She smiled again, liking the progress.
"Come on," she said softly, beckoning with her hand. "I was going to show you to your rooms."
"Rooms?" a small voice asked, and she knew it was Kuroko. His head popped up from Kagami's chest with an innocent kitten-like gaze.
"Yes," another voice said. "And there won't be any negotiations. You boys need to learn how to live without clinging to each other."
Kagami growled a little, and Kazuna was beginning to get worried. The boy looked and sounded like he wasn't even listening to them. His eyes were wild red as he watched the two adults. The glare was enough to send her shivering. Her motherly instinct told her to get Kuroko away from the beast, but another part told her that the beast was split between the both of them.
Satoshi stood protectively in front of his wife, shielding her from harm, but his eyes were worried for the both of them.
"Aniki," Kuroko whispered, pressing his face in Kagami's chest. The latter turned his gaze on Tetsuya, watching him with fascination as the other teen wrapped his small arms around Taiga's neck.
Kagami sighed and stepped back a little, still holding his brother close to his chest.
"What's going on here?"
Kazuna almost smacked Seijuro for his sudden appearance when the boys started clinging to each other again. "Oh," she said through clenched teeth, turning to face her boys. "Just trying to get the boys settled."
"Stay back," Satoshi added.
The five turned their attention back to Kagami and Kuroko, who were in their previous position. Seijuro motioned for his siblings to get in front of their parents.
"Are you hurt, Mommycchi?" Kise asked.
Aomine growled. "What the fucker do?"
Midorima pushed his glasses up high. "I'm prepared to treat any wound unto you, dear mother, and to deal wounds unto the brute."
"I'll crush the big one," Murisakibara crunched on the small candy in his mouth with a bored expression, but his eyes searched for Kuroko anywhere. "But the small one can live."
"Tell me what's happening," Seijuro said in his monotoned voice.
Both Kazuna and Satoshi face-palmed. All hopes of a simple incident out the window. The two boys were now inching towards the door, and she called back her sons. "We're okay boys," she said firmly. "Calm down."
They nodded, but still looked uneasy. It was clear to Kazuna that her children weren't really listening to her.
Kuroko pushed himself away from Kagami, who in turn wrapped himself around the bluenette from behind. "It's alright," he stated, and Kazuna appreciated that he wasn't scared.
Or was he?
Kuroko's hands were shaking, and Kagami's wrapped around them almost instantly. Kazuna smiled at them before turning to Satoshi. "Dear, would you take the boys with you to the living room? I'd like to talk to Tetsuya and Taiga for a moment."
Kagami moved even closer to his brother, who was flinching softly for no reason. Everyone left Kazuna with her new sons, and she smiled at them widely. "It's alright to be scared, you know. I understand. I was an orphan too, once. Thankfully, I didn't go through anything horrible like I have a feeling you did, but I can relate in the feeling of hopelessness."
Kuroko stepped closer, looking fascinated, followed by a wary Kagami. "You were an orphan?"
She nodded. "Yes I was."
"And... you were adopted... by good guys?" Kagami said.
Kazuna smiled at them. "There are good people in the world, boys. I was lucky to meet some. And you are too."
"So what?" Kagami scowled. "You'll just give us up soon anyway. That's all we're good for, you know. We can only cause pain. You may be good guys, but my brother and I are monsters."
Tetsuya nodded. "Aniki is right. Your sons love you. But they can't protect you when our true nature comes to pass."
The woman seemed surprised by their confession, but then sympathetic. Kazuna knew the looks in their eyes from when the first boys were brought to their home. And she knew that they had gone through things she couldn't begin to comprehend.
But that didn't stop her from loving them all the same.
She smiled a knowing, motherly grin. "I don't believe any of that for a second."
Kagami burned red with anger. "Did you hear what we just said!?"
"I heard. And I don't believe it. You two have gone through bad things, and you have done bad things to other people. But I think you're going to be just fine."
"How?"
"Well, you can start by going to school. Meeting people. Making friends."
Kagami snorted, drawing his brother into his arms. "You think we're fit for school."
"Of course I do," she smiled. "I have faith: I have faith in you."
The boys shared a quick glance, weighing their trust in her and each other. It had been a long time since someone believed in them, and this woman was doing that blindly. It scared them more than anything.
"School," Kagami smirked.
Kuroko tucked himself into his sibling's side. "I guess we should be getting ready."
They turned to Kazuna. "When do we start?"
Though they said it with their individual smirks on their faces, Kazuna didn't miss the t=shaking figure of Kuroko and Kagami's obsessive clinging to his back.
Boys crowded around the dining room, eyes gleaming at the sight of food in front of them. Seijuro ordered his sibling to wait for him to get his food, but as soon as his plate was stacked, they grabbed for the many ginormous plates full of food in front of them.
Aomine pushed Ryouta aside and dug for the piled eggs, shoveling most of them onto his plate. Ryouta whined once before ignoring the eggs and going for pancakes. Shintaro rolled his eyes at his siblings before getting a plate of vegan-health food.
Atsushi stayed behind, ignoring his brothers and reaching first for the stack of cinnamon rolls. He ignored his small plate and grabbed for the serving dish, bringing it over to his spot. He froze when his mammoth ears heard the door open and close. Everybody turned as Kagami and Kuroko walked into the kitchen, clad in school uniforms. Kazuna almost sighed at their individual fashion sense. Satoshi spit on the orange juice he had been wearing.
Kagami was wearing black skinny-jeans (already against the rules), with chains dangling from his hips. His white dress shirt was unbuttoned to his chest, revealing a black tank top and rebellious-looking jewelery, disregarding the red tie had was made to wear. His black blazer was comically ripped in various spots and hugged his muscular arms.
Kuroko was no better, and his outfit was far more revealing. Kuroko's black school shorts were so short that his milky thighs were uncovered for all to see. He had covered most of his legs in black stockings and black boots. His white dress shirt was buttoned to the top, but the shirt itself was oversized and hung down a little past the shorts. His tie was loose and lopsided for a "just out of bed" look and he had placed a tiny sleeveless black blazer over it for a finishing touch.
Everyone was stunned, and watching at the two made their way in... completely awestruck.
"Yo," Kagami said simply when he noticed their stares. Kuroko popped out from behind his brother and smiled a toothy grin at Murisakibara. The lazy giant wouldn't admit it, but the smile was endearing, charming, and cute all at the same time.
The taller one sighed before patting the seat next to him. Kuroko motioned for his brother to follow him and the pair made their way to the empty spot. Kagami sat down (much to Atsushi's annoyance) and placed his brother on his lap.
Kuroko eyed the large pile of cinnamon rolls, but looked away when he noticed Murisakibara had the desire to eat them all. Kagami noticed his brother's staring and decided to take a less selfless approach.
"Hey, giant," he whistled. Murisakibara growled and looked at him in minor annoyance.
"What is it, shrimp?"
"SHRIMP!?" Kagami went red in the face.
Kuroko smiled at his brother and pat his leg, grabbing for some bacon.
The rest of the brothers watched the altercation in silence. They didn't know how to deal with people like Kuroko and Kagami. Alone, the could handle the simmering temper of the large red-head or the silent dispassion for the bluenette, but Kuroko and Kagami were a pair, two halves to a whole, and that confused them.
Murisakibara just looked at the overloaded plate in front of him with a sigh before grabbing the smallest cinnamon roll he could find and placing it in front of Kuroko.
"Yay," Kuroko whispered with the softest of smiles.
Kagami smirked and ruffled his brother's hair before sneaking his hand into the cinnamon roll stack, grabbing as many as he could within a single hand and pulling the seven rolls back onto his plate. Atsushi froze mid-bite before shakily looking at the red-head with murderous eyes.
"Put. That. Back."
Kagami blinked before looking up with a wide smirk. "No way."
Kuroko smiled softly before patting Taiga on the leg. "Be nice, Aniki."
The older just snorted, placing more glazed breads into his mouth, chomping down happily in front of Atsushi's face. The brothers tensed dramatically; some in anger and most in wariness. Atsushi started to raise his hand as if to take Kagami's head and crush it flat, but Kuroko intervened with a gentle smile.
"Please forgive my brother, Murisakibara-kun. He's quite the oaf, but I'd be very unhappy if he were to disappear." The purple-haired giant froze and drew back his hand, nodding reluctantly before turning to his food.
The brothers watched in complete amazed silence. "Amazing," some said. Taiga was the only one who didn't look completely taken aback. He was used to people falling for Kuroko's "cute little brother" act.
Akashi himself was very intrigued, watching with a silent, observing gaze.
"So," Satoshi said, breaking the silence. "Feeling nervous about your first day of school?"
"No," the answered simultaneously.
Kazuna smiled. "That's great!" she turned to her other children. "If they need help, offer it. I don't want to hear about you boys abandoning your brothers."
"Sure thing, Mommychi!" Kise hollered.
The rest of them gave their own nods or answers before finishing their food while making small talk. Aomine and Kise were fighting childishly about a new game they wanted to get after school, and who exactly would play it first. Midorima and Seijuro were having a witty competitive conversation about a shogi match they were having later on. Murisakibara was casually talking with his parents about sweets he wanted to buy, and money he would (most definitely) not pay back. Even Kuroko and Kagami were talking to themselves.
The clock started to ring from the dining room, and everyone got up. Kazuna and Satoshi waved their boys out the door like every morning before turning to Kagami and Kuroko.
"You've already even enrolled, so all you'll have to do is get your schedules and such from the office. And, I decided that it would be okay for you to have all of your classes together- seeing as this is a new school for you."
The boys froze and offered reluctant, but genuine, smiles to Kazuna before nodding and wandering off after their adopted brothers, who were being made to escort them to school.
Satoshi felt his wife lean against him as the boys walked out of sight and sighed with her before wrapping his arms around Kazuna's body, pulling her close into his embrace.
"It'll be alright," he said, not quite believing it himself.
Kazuna nuzzled deeper into her husband's hug. "I hope so. Those boys... could use a break."
Teiko High School was a campus-like structure of at least five buildings. The school itself was gigantic, but there weren't as many student as would be expected. Each building was made color coded with light blue and pearly white. The halls were washed down and nicely shining. Outside was as nicely decorated as the inside. The trees were light and unchanging- with fresh Sakura blooming.
The front office was the smallest building there was- with a large reception desk and a couple dozen people at work inside the building.
"Kagami and Kuroko. New adoptees of the Akashis, eh? Those two are saints!"
The woman at the desk was busty with not a lot of brains to match. Her eyes were glazed over in morning exhaustion and the makeup she had so obviously caked on with diligence was fading away from the constant rubbing. But, when she noticed the boys names, her attitude perked immediately into, what the siblings thought, was substantially annoying to them. Kagami was standing next to his brother closely, his large arm draped over Tetsuya's shoulder.
The receptionist blanched a little when she studied them. "Those uniforms... willl... are..."
"Ms. Tasahina!"
Everyone turned to see the principle standing in front of them, wearing a reprimanding expression. He turned to the boys, looking over their outfits with barely contained disgust before turning back to the receptionist.
"These boys are new to school and to the Akashi family. I thing it'll be okay if they wear what they want for a while until they've settled in."
The receptionist, obviously flustered, nodded nonetheless with a shocked expression before giving a shaky smile to the boys and handing them their schedules.
Kagami and Kuroko weren't bothered by the display at all. More, they were happy that their "new-adoptee" act was paying off. If they played sympathy with everyone, they could get away with a bunch of stuff. At least for a while until their true attitudes started showing.
"What first?" Kuroko asked his brother, leaning on him from the side while they walked out of the office and into the fresh breeze of morning.
Kagami looked down at his schedule. "Math. Or skipping?"
The bluenette nodded appreciatively. "Yeah. I just don't think we're ready for school just yet."
The duo walked to the very back of campus, behind the gym. In most of their other schools, the brothers would find a perfect smoking-area at the back of the biggest building. As they made their way to the back of campus, they started to hear someone whistling.
"There's someone already there," Kuroko deadpanned.
Kagami cast a sideways glance. "You wanna find somewhere else."
The puppy dogs that Tetsuya gave his older brother made it impossible to give him whatever he wanted. Kagami blushed and looked away, grabbing Kuroko's hand and dragging him towards the gym with an open glare.
They stopped when they saw an intimidating-looking teenager with a cigarette between his lips. The teen turned when he saw them around the corner and smirked at the hand-holding brothers.
"There's a shed around that way," he said, pointing towards the side of the gym. "You can have your fun there, but I'll probably end up watching, so make it hardcore."
Kagami growled. "What did you say, you fucking psycho?"
His anger was curved when Kuroko placed a comforting hand on his shoulder and turned back to the smirking teen, who was obviously pleased with Kagami's anger.
"I am Kuroko Tetsuya and this is Kagami Taiga, my brother. Who are you?"
The older teen smirked at the cuteness he saw in the bluenette, flashing eyes that glinted in malice before offering a hand. Kuroko shivered at the thought of touching him, so Kagami beat him to it, grabbing the stranger's hand and squeezing in warning.
The teen didn't even flinch. "My name is Makoto Hanamiya. It's nice to meet fellow delinquents."
Kise Ryouta whimpered to himself at his family's lunch table while the rest of his brothers lamented in their own ways. "Where's Kurokochii and Kagamichi?"
Aomine growled. "Shut up, Kise! You've been whining for the past half-hour when they didn't show up to English!"
"Even so," Midorima murmured. "It's quite suspicious for them to miss math and then english, is it not?"
Akashi clicked his tongue in buried rage. "Yes, it is."
The brothers went silent at the sight of their oldest brother's hidden anger, knowing that their newest brothers would be in trouble when they decided to show up. One brother, however, was more worried than anything.
Murisakibara sighed while he crunched on Pocky. "I wonder where Kuro-chin is..."
"Well, wherever they are. I hope they come soon so that I can meet them! After all the stuff I've heard, I wouldn't mind meeting those two."
The brothers looked up to see Momoi Satsuki with her usual smile standing before them with her arms crossed over her rather large breasts. Aomine moved over instinctively for his childhood friend.
"What's up, Satsuki?"
Momoi smiled. "Hello Dai-chan!"
Kise leaned over and offered his award-winning, lady-killing smile. "Hey, Momoichi!"
"Hey, Ki-chan! So, what's everybody so down about?"
Midorima sighed. "Our newest additions have disappeared without even showing up to their first class."
"Oh. I see. Well, how is everybody coping with the new arrivals, Midorin?"
Midorima huffed at the nickname. "I'm nutural about it."
She nodded in understanding. "And you, Muk-kun?"
Murisakibara looked up with crumbs falling from his face. "Kuro-chin gave me candy. The big one's annoying. I want to crush him."
"U-um... ok... and you, Akashi-kun?"
The redhead cast a sour look over his shoulder at the pink-haired girl. "Their arrival is proving to be most trifling."
Satsuki promptly started pouting. "Well, that's no fun. And they're nowhere to be found at all? Too bad... hopefully they miss that nasty Hanamiya character."
Kise gasped. "Me too, Momoichi. I'd hate for them to get acquainted."
"Technically speaking, those three would get along well, considering their criminal attitudes," Midorima cut in.
"Be quiet, Mido-chin. Kuro-chin wouldn't do anything with that jerk," Atsushi pouted to himself and Momoi had to hold herself back from hugging him.
"I might not like them yet, but they're still members of the family."
"Agreed, Daiki," Akashi mused. "We'll have to lecture them later tonight."
Kise and Satsuki immediately shivered and hugged each other. "Lectures from Akashi are never lectures..."
Chapter Four is Up! Thank You For The Wait!
I know that it took quite a while and I'm sorry.
There was a death in the family. Thankfully, I didn't know her.
But, I did have to take some time off to take care of my uncle.
Updates will probably be a little slow for that exact reason.
But, be sure to expect some more.
I'm not quitting this story- I'm just being slow.
Sorry and thank you for waiting.
To Be Continued...
