Ah, the museum. A perfect place to learn about ancient cultures. Or, alternately, ancient treasures... apparently. The three (actual) elementary schoolers gaped in open amazement at all the gleaming gold and glittering gems hidden behind glass cases. Personally, I was more interested in the ancient manuscripts and cultural exhibits. However, I didn't really get that much time to look at them, especially considering how much gold was everywhere.

We walked out of the museum around an hour later.

"That was really cool!" Ayumi said. Conan followed up by saying that there were many treasures still undiscovered in the world.

"I want to find all of them!" Genta shouted, before a paper fluttered to the ground at his feet. He picked it up and turned it over. "What's this?" He asked, Mitsuhiko and Ayumi dashing over to look, with Conan and I following at a more sedate pace.

"Could this be a treasure map?" Ayumi squealed, looking excited. Everyone looked at her with confusion.

"Would someone really let something like a treasure map out of their sight?" I asked, tilting my head.

"Who cares?" Genta shouted. "Let's just follow it and find out! Starting today, we'll be the Detective Boys!"

'And yet two of us are girls,' I thought drily, though Ayumi seemed enthusiastic despite the suggested name. I shared a long-suffering look with Conan, though we did both end up going with it.

"Let's go!" Genta cried, and everyone began to move forward, though they all froze after one step.

"Where are we going?" Ayumi pointed out.

"Don't know..." Genta and Mitsuhiko said with surprising synchronicity.

"Lemme see that," I snapped, and Genta held out the paper. I held it so that both Conan and I could see, and Conan pointed to the symbol at the top.

"Where have you seen this symbol before?" He said with a grin, showing the other three the paper.

"Ah! The Touto Tower! Let's go!" They yelled with surprising synchronicity, before bolting out the gates of the museum.

We jogged to the bus stop and caught the next bus to Touto Tower. The others excitedly chattered about the treasure hunt, and how they had immediately suspected Touto Tower.

"But what does this word mean?" Ayumi asked. "ORO?"

"It must stand for something," Mitsuhiko mused. "The first O stands for big, the R for rich, and the second O for treasure! At the end of the map is a big, rich treasure!"

"Awesome! You must know how to read English, Mitsuhiko-kun!" Ayumi gushed, and Mitsuhiko rubbed at the back of his neck, embarrassed by the praise.

"This must be a huge treasure," Genta mused quietly, not noticing the look that Conan and I shared. "Alright, I'm going to use the treasure to have unajuu from all around the world!" He shouted.

"I'm going to travel around the world 100 times!" Ayumi added. Mitsuhiko looked thoughtful for a second.

"Then I'm going to buy a space shuttle and explore the universe," he said. All three of them turned to us.

"What about you two?" Ayumi asked.

"I'd save it," said Conan.

"How boring," Genta pouted, before turning to me.

"Well," I mused. "I'd probably buy some things for Kari and visit my family in France."

"You have family in France? That's so cool," Mitsuhiko said with a grin.

"Well," said Genta. "This is the place."

"Now all we have to do is figure out the rest of the code." Mitsuhiko said confidently.

"But, except for the umbrella, these symbols are weird..." Ayumi said, looking at the map.

"Ah! Next to the tower is the moon!" Genta exclaimed. "It must mean the treasure is somewhere in the tower where you can see the moon!" Mitsuhiko laughed.

"It can't be that," he said. "The moon changes position, so you can see it from anywhere in the tower, so such a simple symbol can't possibly indicate a pinpoint location." Genta grabbed him by the collar.

"Then what do you think it means," he growled. Ayumi leaned over Conan's shoulder as he focused on the map.

"What are you thinking, Conan-kun?" She asked, and he jerked his head up from the paper.

"Oh, I was just thinking that the symbols might be short for something. See, the one right under the tower looks kind of like a hat, and the next one looks a bit like underwear, and then you leave the umbrella as is, if you put them all together..." he trailed off, and the other three picked up the train of thought.

"A clothing store!" They all shouted. I rolled my eyes, this didn't explain the other symbols.

"But we can't assume just from-" I began, before seeing them all running off.

"Wait-" Conan and I said at the same time. We started after them, but then Conan glanced to the side. I followed his gaze to see three men in black suits with sunglasses.

"Could it be...?" I muttered under my breath before realizing that the three others were getting further away. I grabbed onto Conan's arm and tugged him along so that we could hopefully rein the others in.

When we got to the clothing store, they were already digging through the displays, making a mess, and generally making a nuisance of themselves. We stepped forward to try and stop the shenanigans, but as we did Genta opened the dressing room where a woman was trying on something and then we got kicked out, which I somewhat expected when we came across those three wrecking the store.

"I guess it wasn't a clothing store after all," Genta muttered after we got kicked out of the third or so such establishment. "I'm hungry..."

"Then let's get something to eat," said Ayumi, trying to raise the mood.

"Hey," Conan piped up. "Can we stop at the bookstore?"

"Moron," Genta hissed. "You can't eat anything at a bookstore." I moved toward Genta.

"I think Conan is right." I said. "Maybe the bookstore will have some hints."

Shortly, we were at the bookstore, the others having agreed that maybe there would be hints. Not that they were looking, since they were absorbed in the manga section. Conan began flicking through an English dictionary when I spoke up.

"It seems to be a more Latin-based word," I said. "I don't think it's English, but Spanish or Italian." He nodded, before pulling the dictionaries for both from the shelf, returning the English one. He handed me the Spanish dictionary, which I began perusing, and started flipping through the Italian one himself.

"Found it," Conan told me a moment later, turning the book so I could see, "it means gold."

"Huh," I said. "Guess there really is a treasure then." We slipped the dictionaries back onto the shelf, then went to the manga section to get the others. All of us then proceeded to a café to get a snack. We sat at a table near the window, and Genta, Ayumi, and Mitsuhiko watched as Conan and I pored over the code.

"Ugh," I groaned, sliding down in my seat, watching Conan muss his normally perfectly groomed hair in frustration, and his hair fall back into place. He let his head fall into his hand as he stared out the window and sighed.

"Hey look! Isn't that the same as the second symbol on the map?" Ayumi piped up, having looked out the window at the same time, pointing to a sign across the street.

"That's it!" Conan yelped. "That's what it is! They're signs!"

We went back to Touto Tower, and looked around.

"Found it!" Ayumi squealed, pointing to a sign that looked like the second symbol.

"Hey, Conan-kun," I said. "Let me see the map for a second." He obligingly handed over said paper.

"This symbol," I began, pointing at the moon on the paper, "could it mean the route is only visible at night?" Everyone nodded, accepting my deduction.

"Makes more sense than Tsukimi Road, given that it says Oro instead of Kin, maybe the maker doesn't speak Japanese..." Conan muttered. We all made our way to a café to pass the time until nightfall.

We walked to the base of Touto Tower and began looking around.

"That's something you can only see at night," said Conan, pointing to a neon sign that looked like the second symbol.

"Alright! Let's go!" I shouted, starting towards the sign, followed by everyone else. We looked around after arriving.

"There!" I cried, pointing to a sign that was the same as the third image, and we all darted that direction. Once there we began looking in all directions for the umbrella.

"There's no umbrella shaped sign," Genta grumbled. "Did you guys mess up?" Conan smirked.

"We didn't mess up," he said confidently, "because I just found it. Over there." He pointed to a sign that changed to a weather forecast as we looked.

"I see!" I said. "When they made the map it must have been predicting rain!" And with that we began running to the forecast sign. On the way, Ayumi shouted and we all stopped.

"There! That's the star!" She pointed at a Ferris wheel as she yelled.

"Where could the next one be?" Genta said, looking around excitedly. I swivelled around, looking at all angles.

"There!" I shouted, pointing. Conan looked at the map and then the sign I pointed to.

"No doubt, that's it," he said with a determined nod, and we set off in that direction.

"Oi, Conan, is it really here?" Genta huffed.

"Yeah, there's no doubt about that," Conan began. "After all, the map has Oro next to this symbol. It's the last one I don't get, the one that looks like a fish."

"Isn't it obvious?" Mitsuhiko said. "It obviously means there's a river nearby, and that's where the treasure is."

"That must be it! Let's look in the river!" Genta cheered. I rolled my eyes. Would such a complex code really have such a simplistic end?

We ended up at the river anyways, where Genta began fishing around with a long stick, before he slipped into the water.

Conan was looking around, before he seemed to come to a realization and started chuckling, which turned into full-blown laughter rapidly.

"I found it," he finally said around his laughter, "the last symbol: a shining fish." He then led us to the top floor of the building that had the sixth sign on it. He moved along the line of windows, with me following close behind. "Here." Conan said, coming to a halt. I stood just behind him, my slightly taller frame allowing me to see over his head out the window.

"Oh, I see," I said. "The lights on the bridge reflect off the river, and that lamppost is the eye." I looked at the wall next to the window, where a rope caught my eye, so I wandered over and tugged at the rope. A jingle came from the roof, and a couple of coins fell to the floor with a ting.

"It's the treasure!" Genta cried excitedly upon seen the coins fall to the floor. As he ran up to the coins, the three men Conan and I had spotted earlier in the day came and picked up the coins, each man smirking maliciously.

"Thanks for the good work, kids," one said, the smirk on his face unwavering.

"Who the heck are you guys?" Genta asked, though Conan and I recognized them from earlier. "Whatever, give it back! That's our treasure!" He yelled, leaping forward to latch onto the mans' sleeve, though he got hit for his troubles and the men tied us all up.

"Who are those guys?" Mitsuhiko mumbled.

"Probably Italian robbers," Conan stated.

"I think I heard about that in the news," Ayumi whimpered. "That means the gold coins back there were-"

"That's right," one of the men interjected. "We stole those coins from an Italian bank a year ago. The plan was made by our boss, Capane. But Capane betrayed us and escaped here, taking the coins. We finally caught up to him, but he'd already hidden the coins, and no matter how we asked he wouldn't talk and we only found this stupid symbol code in his room. We called the cops on him and left to solve this coded map, but we dropped it and you brats picked it up. Although, I guess we were lucky it was you brats and not the police, because you solved it and led us here. Who'd have thought that you guys could lead us to the coins." He reached into his pocket and began removing a gun that he pointed right at Conan's forehead.

"Tell me where the coins are," he snarled.

"The fish," Conan said, remarkably calm. "It's where the bridge outside looks like the fish symbol on the map."

"I see," the man said, walking off to consult his companions.

"Why'd you tell them that? After they find it they're going to kill us," Mitsuhiko said tearfully.

'They'd kill us anyway,' I thought drily. As the other three mused on how they'd kill us, Conan and I looked around trying to formulate a plan. Genta, Ayumi, and Mitsuhiko teared up and almost started crying.

"It's too early to give up," I said determinedly, Conan nodding solemnly behind me before picking up the speech.

"We still have a chance to escape, if we can combine our power." They still looked unconvinced.

"And how can we do that?" Genta demanded.

"We're just kids!" Mitsuhiko cried quietly.

"We aren't just kids," I hissed.

"We're the Detective Boys!" Conan followed up. The others perked up, the tears starting to dissipate.

"You're right," Genta said, voice welling with determination. "What do we do." Conan and I explained the plan. As the men located tho coins on the ceiling, I signalled the others, and we all began to run, which caused the rope to snap and the heavy weight of the bags of coins to come crashing down onto the men, knocking them out.

"We did it!!" We all cheered. Afterwards, we went to the nearest police station and told them what had happened. The three robbers were then arrested, closing the case.

That was our first case as the Detective Boys. The next day, we all went to the Detective Agency where Conan was living and told Ran the story.

"Wow," she said. "That's great that you solved the code and captured the thieves." Genta and Mitsuhiko tried to take all the credit, but they were thwarted by Ayumi, who promptly put all the credit on Conan.

"It wasn't all me," he said, showing some humility. "Yukari-chan helped too." Ran 'oh'ed' gently, a faint smile appearing at the apparent love triangle. Ayumi grabbed Conan's arm and gave him a peck on the cheek.

"You were still cooler, Conan-kun," she said. Genta and Mitsuhiko growled at the attention he was getting from Ayumi.

"Ah, how cute Conan-kun, you got yourself a girlfriend," Ran said, leaving me giggling and him sputtering denials.
