The walk- 4th year
Remus' POV
I woke up suddenly to a click and then a pull at my neck. And someone waving a chocolate bar under my nose.
"Good boy Moony!" Sirius said. I was getting a bad feeling about tonight…
I was on a leash! How is this fair? I am not an actual dog! Ok. Mini rant over, moving on with life.
Crack!
Oh yeah, my shoulders still healing. Maybe I should tell them that this isn't the best plan ever…
Oh well.
I was suddenly yanked out of my bed by my neck.
"C' mon Moony," James whined, "We want to take you for a walk. You are part dog."
"And it would be fun, you don't even have to do any work," Peter added.
"Fine, but just be gentle, I did break my shoulder."
"No problem buddy," James said.
"Buddy?"
"Its what people call their dogs in other places," James protested," And Remy is our buddy."
With that, we left the dorm.
"Remus, if you need help just let me know and I'll straighten these gits out," Lily said. She was always so nice and helpful. I wish James didn't have a crush on her so I could have a shot without being hexed to death by an angry James. I considered telling her about how they took my on nightly walks, until I realized that's why she asked. I forgot to take off the leash last night and was still wearing it. James and Sirius were doubled over from laughing too hard.
"Oi, you! Yeah, you two. How did this happen?" I asked.
"Well clearly you are into some weird stuff, moons. I had no idea you even knew about that stuff," Sirius said. I tried to remove the leash, but it was stuck.
"James!"
'Yes moony?"
"What did you do?"
Well, it's certainly NOT a permanent sticking charm."
I pointed my wand at it and cut it off. I turned around and went upstairs. On my way I whispered to Lily
"Yes, I do need some help with these idiots."
A week later it was the night of the full moon. I was getting ready to go to Madame Pomfrey, when the other three marauders looked at me with an evil gleam in their eyes. I hate it when they do that, it means they're up to something I wouldn't approve of.
"See you later Moony," they chorused as I walked out the door. I was eyeing them suspiciously until I walked backwards into the wall behind me. They were laughing at me again. I turned and ran before they could see the blood.
I woke up the next morning like I normally would after a full moon, except for the lack of bites, scratches and I was wearing a collar with a leash attached. The prats! But how did they get out here without getting hurt, there wasn't much blood. I heard someone muttering and the collar came off. I was free, I started getting dressed so I would at least decent before anyone else saw me. I turned around to find James and Sirius waiting for me.
"What do you think?" Sirius asked.
"How?" was all I managed.
"Turns out that a werewolf won't harm anyone they recognize as a member of their pack. We thought that maybe your wolf would remember us from your memories and hoped he saw us as pack," James stated.
"You did remember us, if you didn't notice," Sirius interjected.
'But you aren't animagus?"
"Nope! But we're still working on that. Right after you left we saw what our animagus was going to be. I get to join you in the leash family by the way." Sirius said.
"And here I thought you would feel left out for being the smallest animal out of us. I am a stag just saying." James said.
"And Peter?"
"Doesn't know yet, he was in the kitchens while we were meditating and found out," James said.
"Then how do you know he isn't the smallest?"
"Well, with all he eats, he's bound to be a giant pig or something which would make me, a dog, much smaller!" Sirius said.
"That's considered rude, Sirius. Now get out of here before the Madame Pomfrey comes in to make sure I'm ok." I said.
They left and when she asked why I wasn't all bloodied, I told her that maybe my wolf and I were having similar feelings so maybe I was a little bit in control of my actions. I think she just wanted some good news about me so she believed me and told me that it was great. I also think she was glad she didn't have to force half a million potions down my throat.
As much as I liked what my friends did for me, I went right back to hating it the next day. They dragged me around the common room calling me "the best pet ever (that is up for adoption)!" Thank goodness Lily put a stop to it and had the prefect give each of them a detention. The one that I got for going along with it was a little unfair though.
Tonight is the night I'm burning that stupid leash. It feels good to throw it in the fire, watching it burn. It gives me a feeling of hope, of freedom. It stands for everything I hate, and it's going up in flames. The fire is beautiful, dancing around, melting the metal and burning the leash. It's the end of the leash. I hope that James and Sirius don't never ever find out about this. They would think it's a crime to burn something with sentimental value, although I never found any value whatsoever in it. The fire's dimming and it's getting later, but I need to make at least one smore, otherwise there was no point in even burning the stupid, pathetic, chocking-
"Moony? It's three in the morning. Bedtime!"
Another chapter done! YAY! So I wrote a Christmas chapter, but I didn't post it. Sorry. I also apologize for the really long wait, but high school kept me busy. Still accepting prompts. I am mostly certain Emily requested Remus on a leash, so here you go.
