Grave didn't say anything when Kenzi asked him what he was the truth was that he didn't really know what he was either. "Kenzi when I was brought back to life something went wrong at least I think it did."
"What do you mean something went wrong?"
"It's like I'm not a fae but I'm not human that's the only real way I can think of to describe it. If I were to put it bluntly I guess I could say that I'm not a human or a fae I'm just the man that can never die. Ironic isn't I am what so many humans and fae aspire to be and yet there is not a moment I don't wish for death." Before Kenzi could say anything Grave walked out he walked toward the front deck where Matthew was smoking a cigarette.
"You look like crap Matt." Grave stated observing his old friend.
"Yeah we both do. Funny isn't it? How that girl is paying for are sins. I'm likely to be sent to hell for all the things I've done." Matthew sighed tired from the latest events.
Grave smirked "Yeah they've probably got a special place reserved for me in the deepest depths of that inferno. Where do you think we went wrong Matt do you think we could have done anything different?"
"Honestly I think no matter what we would have done no matter what little details we could have altered we would have always ended up right here. Kenzi, you, and Phillip would always have ended up right here."
The Harbor 1923…
Grave watched as the ship came into town he knew she'd be here but he didn't know if he could face her.
"You look like I feel."
"Huh?" Grave looked down and saw a short man dressed in a brown suit and fedora.
"It sucks to have to leave home and start over I haven't been to the new world in thirty years But I have to admit I have never felt more at home here. Oh I'm Trick by the way." Trick smiled extending his hand.
"I'm Grave." Grave responded shaking the stranger's hand.
"Grave my, that is a strange name. Are you coming here for business or pleasure?"
"Um… I guess unfinished business Trick you?"
"I'm hoping to start over again I know it sounds odd but never too late for a fresh start."
Grave laughed "I don't know about that Trick sometimes it is too late. There was this girl and I didn't realize how much she meant to me until it was too late. Are you planning to open a shop or something?"
"Yeah something like that I'm hoping to start a dinner maybe make it a sanctuary for fae of both sides."
"Wow a dinner really?" Grave gave him a skeptical look "I'm sorry Trick but there's a million of those in the city but I do have an idea open a, speak easy you definitely will get tons of customers then." Grave smirked.
"Alcohol but's that's illegal over here." Trick shouted alarmed by the suggestion.
"Yeah and that's going to be all part of the fun."
After making port Grave walked through the city he stuck out a little bit but he didn't care most fae confused with an under fae given his white and eye patch if he gave a damn about what the fae elders might say he might actually make an effort not to stick out but that wasn't really who he was.
After an hour he finally made it to a store a flower shop among other things thats where he was when he saw her Anastasia she looked as beautiful as the last day he saw her. Grave almost went up to her there was a lot he wanted to say but he knew he couldn't. He was about to leave when he heard her voice.
"Grave?" Anastasia said breathless.
Grave turned around surprised nervous "Hey… uh been a while how are you?"
"Um… I'm fine a lots happened since you left how are you?"
"Well… I've missed you. I've been thinking a lot about what I did and look I've changed I want you to know I can be the man you need me to be I…"
Before he could go further she lifted her hand showing her ring "I'm engaged."
The Dal Present Day…
Trick looked at an old photo from the forties it was of himself and a few old customers they were happier times to be sure but still.
"Hey Trick have you heard anything about Kenzi?" Bo asked barging in without warning.
Trick's grip slipped he almost dropped the picture frame but caught it in the nick of time "Bo you are my granddaughter and I love you but please do not startle me like that."
"Sorry I'm just worried about Kenzi have you heard anything?"
Trick shook his head "I'm sorry no I've kept my ear to the ground but nothing."
Bo snatched the photo after she saw a familiar face "Trick who is this guy in all black and dressed like a cowboy?"
Trick chuckled out of nostalgia "Oh that's an old friend of mine helped me start up the Dal. Jerk never paid for a damn drink. One of three people I have ever let, get away with that and one of two that did it more than once actually every time they came over." Trick grew quiet as he began thinking of how much money he was owed "Damn drunk owes me a fortune in booze."
"Who was the second and who was the other guy that stole from you only once?" Bo asked surprised that she even found this interesting.
The second was Kenzi now that I think about it she's never paid me once. Only other guy to skip on his tab was Dyson first time we met I tracked him down and made him pay never did it again."
"So who is the cowboy?"
"Grave worked for a Dark Fae crime boss called the Old man. Though I never met him or saw his beautiful daughter. Grave and me were good friends but I was always concerned about him he was…"
"He was what?"
The Morrigans Office…
"He was in love with The Old Man's daughter Anastasia, Dyson." Phillip explained as he closed an old photo album with the same photo Trick owned.
"Really and you said his name was Grave? I've never heard of a Fae by that name."
"That's not important Dyson what is important is that we find Kenzi. Besides Grave is guilty of a lot of heinous crimes."
"Such as?" Dyson ask confused.
"Well he killed Anastasia and her husband because in his mind if he couldn't have her for himself no one could." Phillip smiled lying through his teeth.
Avalon Island...
Grave stood along with Mathew watching the island closing in "So Grave does Kenzi know?"
Grave grew quiet before speaking "She knows I knew her mother that about it."
"That's not what I'm talking about."
Grave gave him a sharp glare "She can never know the truth about me and her father I swore to take that to my grave. Kenzi can never know."
"Anastasia wouldn't be happy with you no matter how insecure you may feel in regards to your capabilities as a... never mind. What happens if you meet up with Dyson your old friend?"
"I'll cross that bridge when we get to it but now we're about to make port I'll get Kenzi."
